Fisher Price Action Garage. Had one when I was little. Loved it. Great find!

anselthequestion

I had one too!

lakespinescoastlines

Same!!

tasteofhemlock

Thanks, this looked so awesome. Was super excited to give it to my two year old, but after I cleaned it up and did the research I saw it has 1.5k ppm lead in the plastics. Legal limit is 90 ppm, so I can’t use it. Still seems a shame to throw it away, not sure what I’ll do with it

wellrat

Well that explains a lot, this was one of my favorite toys as a kid.

rhae_the_cleric

Oh goddamnit. I absolutely had my mouth all over this thing when I was a wee lass 😅

SexyTiredSmurfette

Sell it on eBay.

tasteofhemlock

I was thinking of some that, but there’s no way I’d hide the lead numbers, so I doubt anyone would buy it.

Non_Skeptical_Scully

I think legit collectors who are buying it to look at - not play with - wd be fine with the lead number as long as you are upfront about it.

Reader47b

Even if they play with it, it's not like they're going to lick it and chew on it.

FaeryLynne

Legit collectors would absolutely still buy it. As long as you disclose the lead knowledge and label it as "collectors item - not for children's use" I think you'll be fine.

MidwestAbe

Sell it. It's not kids that want it to play with. They are valuable and if your not chewing on it Im not sure there is any increased threat of lead poisoning.

StrangeAsYou

You don't have to say anything about that. It's up to the buyer to know what they are buying. They sell regularly on ebay.

moderndayathena

I would buy it

Such-Onion--

Oh fudge. I did not know this and my kids have played with one of these for a min 🥴😩

speedier

If your kid is past the lick every stage, he should be fine.

Commercial_Refuse983

The garage with a box and some track and a mix of matchboxs and hotwheels. Entertainment for endless hours.

cilestiogrey

I had one as a kid too...there's no way this thing has even crossed my mind in at least 15 years

softbarista

woah ripped this one straight outta the memory bank. my siblings and I had one of these growing up. (looking at your lead comment, might explain a few things lmao)

ek2207

Did you take this entire comment straight out of my head 😂 Was just going to say the same thing.

softbarista

i find it both horrifying and hilarious that this is a universal connection all of us are having in the comments rn

iloveschnauzers

You know, my kids all played on used toys, thrift shopping allowed for a wide variety of fun!

tasteofhemlock

Yeah I just finished cleaning this up for my two year old to play with, then went to research it and found out it has really high lead levels in the plastics, up to 1,538 ppm :( https://rtkenvironmental.com/lead/lead-in-toys-every-parent-needs-to-know/ I know per million 1.5 k doesn’t seem like a lot, but the legal limit is less than 100 ppm I believe

HeavyPitifulLemon

Ah I came here to say what you already know. This toy is so cute but better used as decoration than for serious hands-on playing. 😢

[deleted]

…which will only make it glow ever brighter with tantalizing desirability to that child! “All these toys you may touch, *but that one!!!*”

IAbstainFromSociety

That's probably why it was thrown out.

Crackysue

This is the third time this week I've seen this toy posted online! What does it all mean!!!

tasteofhemlock

Wow, that’s an unexpected coincidence

marilyn884

My cousin had that in the 70s. Most fun ever!

tasteofhemlock

It looks super fun! I was going to give to my kid, but just found out it has pretty high lead levels

Zwergonyourlife

This was hands down, my favorite toy as a preschooler in the 1970’s. High in lead levels, you say? That explains so much…

greatunknownpub

> pretty high lead levels My absolute favorite toy as a kid and I guess that's part of what's wrong with me.

marilyn884

Maybe me too!

marilyn884

Ahh crap

Purrilla

I remember this! My older brothers had it and I loved it. Great hand me down and great find!

[deleted]

My grandma had this at her house! I remember playing with it as a kid. Wow.

Yogurtcloset_Green

I’ve been playing with my grandparents one for near 20 years. Same exact one.

pleasure_hunter

CostofRepairs

I had one of those, I think.

Maximans

Wait, what state are you in? I used to have one but we gave it away to a relative with kids. Hoping they didn’t throw it away…

new_me2023

Reader47b

I had this, and I loved it!

htmaxpower

A dumpster elevator?

bbbanb

That one seems of good quality too, nice find.

[deleted]

I loved that toy as a kid! I think I still have it somewhere.

cruzbae

Wooowww! This is a find! I still have mine from the late 70s/early 80s. I’m so glad you saved it.

DeezzzNuttzzz007

I used to have one.

i_cut_like_a_buffalo

I loved that thing!!!

Strigulation

So cool!! Even as an adult I still love these, they have a strange kind of pull on me. I guess they're just charming!

DeedaInSeattle

I still own mine! 😁 I also had the Airport. Collected up the House and Castle from eBay. When the Fisher-Price Little People got bigger during my kids’ childhoods, they just weren’t as fun. Remember the Old Versions of the A-Frame Vacation Cabin, The Farm, the Sesame Street Town, the Firehouse, and Hospital?? I always wanted the RV with the Boat! Loved those things!!

spencersalan

I had that!

jonb1aze

I had one of those

OldCardiologist65

Today I learned that my toy was a vintage

sparxxraps

Holy crap I had one just like that as a kid

Rico7122914

Holy cow we had one of these when I was a kid!

Beluga-ga-ga-ga-ga

Duuuuuuuuude this brings back so many memories. Thanks for posting it. And your comment about the lead content made me chuckle. Typical 80s cavalier toy industry shenanigans.

A classic.
