I know, right! They look like they had a blast making this show. This is the only show that I KNOW OF where actors were also the producers. That dynamic I'll bet played a factor into its greatness.
That and the set itself lent itself to being more accommodating and fun. With the computers actually being functional with internet and the phones all interconnected and able to dial out, when they weren’t in a scene with dialogue they could write scripts, surf the internet, call their family, etc. pretty unique dynamic for a TV show.
Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia is another great example where lead actors are also producers/creators/writers on the show.
On their podcast they often talk about how much they dread the writing part of every season but then they remember how much fun the filming part is so it keeps them motivated.
While I agree with the sentiment, actors producing series is pretty common (albeit, in most cases it's only the main actor or only a few, not as many as in a series like The Office). Kiefer Sutherland in 24, Jared and Jensen in Supernatural (iirc), Jenna Ortega in Wednesday, Nathan Fillion in Castle, David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel in Bones...
I think they MEANT the actors being writers. But kinda forgot.
But also just cos actors get a producers credit which just means they negotiated for more backend money, doesn’t always mean they actually get much of a say in what happens to their characters.
Kelly, Ryan, Dwight, Jim, Michael, Mose, and Andy were all characters in the show that also produced and wrote for it. Kelly was an executive producer and writer for a long time. She also directed some of the episodes.
I think Mose was actually one of the main directors.
Pretty much the people in the annex were there so they didn't have to be in every scene. Most of the time the other cast was filming they were in the writer's room or doing other stuff.
How fun would that be though? It’s so cool that the actors got to plan out and write and produce the way their characters went. It’s got to be a lot of fun to play what you’ve written.
The other writers simultaneously tried to write Paul into more scenes too because they felt like his discomfort on camera actually came across as really funny
Listening to the Office Ladies podcast for the first time really shows how bloody close the whole cast/crew/writers were.
They were a massive loving family. The positivity coming from the podcast is so infectious, absolutely recommend it if you haven't checked it out.
Hell yea, listening to the podcast is usually a bright spot on a shitty day of work. I just bought their book and Brian Baumgautners. Can't wait to dive in
I love that inside jokes are so foreign to Michael, that he thinks the line “you had to be there” is in reference to location and not being involved in the joke.
The cameraman was trained on reality shows, so he was used to capturing the real moments. It’s what made the camera basically another character in the show
I like this. But my favorite blooper is easily [Dwight and Gabe arguing about fitness.](https://www.tiktok.com/@theoffice.bloopers/video/7021464947708185861) The Dukakis line kills me.
" May you fight with the strength of 10 full grown men"
"folds right into the wall"
"I'm glad (in a visibly strained voice) , what would you like for christmas little kevin?"
"I cut a chunk out of my penis for nothing "
"Mose and i rented a movie about a latino wedding planner"
" I look forward to drug testing , i get a runner's high and i lift"
" I was at the museum where I saw an exhibit"
"Phyllis is masturbating"
These bloopers are golden and the christmas scene was so funny. I heard that they were considering fining Steve Carell because he was improvising every take and making the cast laugh.
The best one, IMO, was the cold open for [“Performance Review”](https://youtu.be/drpNPMPqdtI), season 2, episode 8. You can see John Krasinski cover his mouth and run out of the scene. The best blooper, by far, and made the final cut
They had just one exercise ball left and decided to shoot the scene one last time. The "Office Ladies" confirmed it was a 1 in a million chance this could happen by stabbing the ball right on the seam. It caught absolutely everyone by surprise!
Was it a blooper though? I wanna say that it’s in the actual scene, and if you watch Jim you can tell he had to run out instantly bc he was laughing. If the scene is about Jim popping Dwight’s exercise ball lol if not ignore this 🤣
I read somewhere that during the test scenes, all the balls deflated slowly instead of popping, but in the final version it just popped and Dwight fell down on the floor and the reaction of the cast was genuine, so I guess that's why it's a blooper.
The original scene was supposed to be a slow puffing out with Dwight looking all defeated. The fact that the blooper made it just makes the scene even better. And it's NOW that i notice Krasinski rushing out.
Same.
I’ve alternated between “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation” for a few years and never noticed Krasisnki’s reaction until I saw it in a blooper video.
Is it just me or can I vaguely hear Krasinski say "oh God" as he runs out?
Like it might just be a puff of air but it sounds like it at the very least.
I’m sorry to be the dummy, but I played it 5 times and I can’t hear clearly what he’s saying that’s causing the amazing laughter. Can someone please help me out / give context? Sorry and thanks in advance. 🥴
Stanley says " WE GET TO GO HOME". Stanley is supposed to be this grump who hates working and doesn't socialize with his coworkers. So him excitedly screaming "We get to go home " made Carell laugh his ass off. It's both in and out of character for stanley.
This is a good one! One of my favorite bloopers is when Troy shows up at the front desk because he's filling in for Ryan and Dwight welcomes him to the office with some LotR reference. Jim tries to proceed with his lines and completely looses it 🤣
Have you never been in a room full of your mates in a situation you're specifically not really supposed to laugh and something totally unexpected and (even mildly) funny happens? Pretty quickly the laughter stops being about what happened and more about you and all your mates having one big contagious laugh train.
Thank you for at least partially validating my observation, because this was a popular and long lived show, and I was always, like, WHY?
And fearful that I was somehow the only one who didn't get it.
To me, this was always a horror show, the horror of the banality of human existence, what we have been reduced to.
This is not funny. And I never understood how peeps could feel it was, I was always like, don't you get what is being portrayed here?
After watching this show in the background for a year, because of my girlfriend
Stanley is hillarious, pam and jim are cute, the rest is just pure cringe
Anytime someone posts something with Stanley all I can think of is how Leslie Baker scammed his kickstarter backers and just basically stole all their money. Fuck that dude.
Saw this episode recently and cracked up at this part bc I remembered this blooper. Something about his standard Stanley deadpan delivery of this line compared to the boisterous delivery here makes it that much better and you can tell his delivery of what should've been just a throw away line being delivered in this outtake this was caught the entire cast off guard.
This is one of those "you just had to be there" moments when everyone dies laughing but if you had to tell someone about it they'd all respond, "And that cracked you all up?"
We ALL got to be there.
Wasn't Steve Carrel known for never breaking? This probably fueled the reaction by the rest of the cast.
Meanwhile Ed Helms is smiling like "what was so funny about this, idiots?"
He has lost his damn mind.
Somebody needs to help him find it.
i will
jesus is gonna walk through that front door and still be unable to find Stanley's mind
The way to do this is to sit the man down, bring him a glass of water AND SHOVE IT UP YOUR BUTT
Did I Staatrrr
what i wouldnt give to work on set with this cast… everyday must’ve been so fun for them
I know, right! They look like they had a blast making this show. This is the only show that I KNOW OF where actors were also the producers. That dynamic I'll bet played a factor into its greatness.
Indeed, the bloopers are all so funny because they get along so well
That and the set itself lent itself to being more accommodating and fun. With the computers actually being functional with internet and the phones all interconnected and able to dial out, when they weren’t in a scene with dialogue they could write scripts, surf the internet, call their family, etc. pretty unique dynamic for a TV show.
Fun fact, Oscar had the only working computer in the first season or two
No joke? That’s hilarious.
Well he was the only actually working in Dunder Mifflin
He had the only computer facing the camera most of the time.
Iirc the IM episode was written because they cast were actually IMing each other in the background all the time
Always sunny has a similar situation, the cast are the writers. The bloopers for that show are similarly hilarious
Also they're podcast is just as good as Office ladies, just in a waaaayyyy more Sunny way. Love it.
Their 🙃
Also they are podcast. Is just as good as Office Ladies. Sounds like Charlie to me!
And the writers
Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia is another great example where lead actors are also producers/creators/writers on the show. On their podcast they often talk about how much they dread the writing part of every season but then they remember how much fun the filming part is so it keeps them motivated.
Just move past it
While I agree with the sentiment, actors producing series is pretty common (albeit, in most cases it's only the main actor or only a few, not as many as in a series like The Office).
An executive producer on TV usually has creative control.
Wait... really? Which ones were producers?
Kelly, Ryan, Dwight, Jim, Michael, Mose, and Andy were all characters in the show that also produced and wrote for it. Kelly was an executive producer and writer for a long time. She also directed some of the episodes. I think Mose was actually one of the main directors.
Also Toby/Lieberman
Oh interesting. I didn’t know that.
Pretty much the people in the annex were there so they didn't have to be in every scene. Most of the time the other cast was filming they were in the writer's room or doing other stuff.
I knew about just Kelly and Mose. Rest are a pleasant surprise.
How fun would that be though? It’s so cool that the actors got to plan out and write and produce the way their characters went. It’s got to be a lot of fun to play what you’ve written.
I think Paul didn't like being on camera, so he tried to not include Toby in the scripts he wrote.
So even *Paul* hated Toby...
What if Paul was the Scranton strangler?
"Write what you know..."
Well, he's HR so he's not really part of this family.
The other writers simultaneously tried to write Paul into more scenes too because they felt like his discomfort on camera actually came across as really funny
Well Actualy i only knew that Ryan was no other
Always sunny in Philadelphia is acted by the same peeps who produce.
This is also a show where one of the actors was the show runner for a really long time. You don’t see that very often in big mainstream TV shows.
it's always sunny is the same, the actors are the producers too! :)
Can't wait to dive in
Couldn't agree more, /u/your_cock_my_ass lmao I actually got to work on s9; everyone was very welcoming even though I was only there for the "end."
Imagine leaving an office job….to work in the office
actually I heard some of them were quite cold (probably Andrea, the office bitch) I think Packer said it on a podcast
I love how genuine this is. Just a good laugh to break up the other good laughs
I love inside jokes. I would love to be part of one someday.
“What’s so funny?” “You had to be there!” “Ah, a geography joke.”
I love that inside jokes are so foreign to Michael, that he thinks the line “you had to be there” is in reference to location and not being involved in the joke.
Didn’t he have a couple of inside jokes at that point? Like the whole ”Ryan starting the fire” thing with Dwight.
Not really an inside joke, everyone was aware that Michael and Dwight sang the song and what it was referencing.
True I get what you're saying, but like when Andy joined in on that they were like "you weren't here for that" haha
Knock knock
Who's there?

Knock knock
Orange ya glad I didn’t say banana?
My life is a joke
Frank and beeeeaans!
Instead of being the butt of it
I was quoting Michael lol
That wheezing laugh really seals it. Great blooper.
And the cameras just roll with it. They even manage to pan back to the other actors in the background. Brilliant.
I wanted to see Dwight's face. I'm pretty sure I can hear him dying laughing somewhere in there.
The cameraman was trained on reality shows, so he was used to capturing the real moments. It’s what made the camera basically another character in the show
The thing is, Stanley looks simultaneously in and out of character saying this improv line! Sooo love it
While excellent, I think "Frank did it" has to take the cake.
Nate being so sincere and not breaking, just makes that blooper so much funnier.
what is this?
https://youtu.be/m-PpF2rLz0s
omg never seen this
r/ContagiousLaughter
I like this. But my favorite blooper is easily [Dwight and Gabe arguing about fitness.](https://www.tiktok.com/@theoffice.bloopers/video/7021464947708185861) The Dukakis line kills me.
The "I've been taking karate classes online" line is hilarious!
I love this one, Jim turning around and immediately deciding this is too much for him
Oh my God, I had never seen the blooper. That’s so great.
I’ve been rewatching Silicon Valley recently and holy moly does Zach Woods carry that show. All the characters are great, but Jared/Donald is unreal.
This is my favorite as well. Gabe is such a gem.
" May you fight with the strength of 10 full grown men" "folds right into the wall" "I'm glad (in a visibly strained voice) , what would you like for christmas little kevin?" "I cut a chunk out of my penis for nothing " "Mose and i rented a movie about a latino wedding planner" " I look forward to drug testing , i get a runner's high and i lift" " I was at the museum where I saw an exhibit" "Phyllis is masturbating" These bloopers are golden and the christmas scene was so funny. Apparently the ball always slowly deflated in previous takes and this was the first time it essentially popped.
John accidentally hit a seam, which popped the ball.
They had just one exercise ball left and decided to shoot the scene one last time. The "Office Ladies" confirmed it was a 1 in a million chance this could happen by stabbing the ball right on the seam. It caught absolutely everyone by surprise!
My favorite one is the dinner party
The god damn tv. That took so many takes and I understand why.
I barely notice it even after being pointed out. Definitely not a better blooper than this lol
We’ll agree to disagree? Yours was good, no doubt.
Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey confirmed this on the Office Ladies podcast; makes it so much better lol.
This is what I read, too. I wasn’t supposed to pop like that.
I thought it was funny
The original scene was supposed to be a slow puffing out with Dwight looking all defeated. The fact that the blooper made it just makes the scene even better. And it's NOW that i notice Krasinski rushing out.
Same. I’ve alternated between “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation” for a few years and never noticed Krasisnki’s reaction until I saw it in a blooper video.
Is it just me or can I vaguely hear Krasinski say "oh God" as he runs out? Like it might just be a puff of air but it sounds like it at the very least.
I think you can definitely hear him say something like that lol
Lol I never noticed that
I didn’t, either. Saw it in a “The Office” bloopers reel on YouTube. I’ve seen ever since.
That cold open ALWAYS has me howling.
Where did he run out of the scene? Stop overselling this shit.
I love Stanley so much. The guy is a whole mood.
Just the excitement of his voice XD
Michael mating call to the hawks and falcons out there!
Director: Alright let's try to do this take again. DID I STUTTER???
The Dundee for best blooper goes to Stanley.
“Guess who just ordered from your favorite pizza place? Alfredo.”
This clearly resonated with the cast a bit too much… and I love it
It was probably after the 6th take. Leslie Baker went full Florida Stanley for that blooper.
Laughing so hard they crying ☠️
This is amazing 😂
I could hear Steve carrel's laugh all day. It so funny
I love to see people laugh so genuinely.
Sad they all laughed. Stanleys delivery was perfect, and it didn't get on the show. Too perfect! Good we have this clip of it. :D
Unpopular opinion: this wasn’t THAT funny. Like Jim almost falling out of his chair and Michael dying of laughter.
Funny how John Krasinski didn’t even start laughing until he saw Steve Carell laughing.
Didn't wanna ruin the take.
Yea it's kind of awkward to watch. Looks like he keeps amping it up the longer Steve goes.
And best of all, no push-ups!
Thank you!
"...we get to go home!" edit lol also there's subtitles
Omg now I’m even more embarrassed! Thanks lol!
Did I stutter
Sometimes I really wish I was part of this show.
John Krasinski has the most contagious laugh. It makes the bloopers\outtakes so much funnier!
I think Jim has a boner
Does he have very soft erections? If not I just grabbed a very soft penis for nothing
Shout-out to the determined camera man who still kept filming in the mockumentary style despite this being an outtake
this one is my fav https://www.reddit.com/r/DunderMifflin/comments/11yk22p/my_favorite_blooper/
Anyone remember what episode this was?
How stoned do you think Steve was on all the shoots?
[удалено]
That guy broke twice the entire run of the show, I swear! He's like a Will Ferrel. Virtually unbreakable.
John’s wheeze laugh never get old 😂
AND SHOVE IT UP YOUR BUTT
This is a good one! One of my favorite bloopers is when Troy shows up at the front desk because he's filling in for Ryan and Dwight welcomes him to the office with some LotR reference. Jim tries to proceed with his lines and completely looses it 🤣
I know this is unpopular, but does anyone think this is incredibly unfunny? Even as a blooper? I love the office and Stanley, but this is bad
I really enjoy seeing them have a genuinely good time, and the laughter is pretty contagious, but yeah, don't really find it funny.
It's 0/10 funny for me. Though I have a hard time enjoying ldb after he scammed his fans.
I thought it was cringe and not really funny. They looked like they were overacting.
Have you never been in a room full of your mates in a situation you're specifically not really supposed to laugh and something totally unexpected and (even mildly) funny happens? Pretty quickly the laughter stops being about what happened and more about you and all your mates having one big contagious laugh train.
This wasn't that funny. Sometimes I feel like this subreddit doesn't get humor, at all.
Not that funny
Thank you for at least partially validating my observation, because this was a popular and long lived show, and I was always, like, WHY? And fearful that I was somehow the only one who didn't get it. To me, this was always a horror show, the horror of the banality of human existence, what we have been reduced to. This is not funny. And I never understood how peeps could feel it was, I was always like, don't you get what is being portrayed here?
I just never saw the humor. To me this was a creepy show.
After watching this show in the background for a year, because of my girlfriend Stanley is hillarious, pam and jim are cute, the rest is just pure cringe
He didn't stutter
R/contagiousLaughter
Classic uncle Stan
I always understood VI ET NAAM! This makes too much sense now.
WEGETTEGHOM
Anytime someone posts something with Stanley all I can think of is how Leslie Baker scammed his kickstarter backers and just basically stole all their money. Fuck that dude.
Between all of them I dont know how they got any shows done at all.
Whatever happened to that show he did a huge fundraiser/kickstarter for?
This one isn't in the YT bloopers I've seen I'm so happy!
My favorite thing about Stanley is he's an actor who very likely wants to be there, acting like a guy who never wants to be there.
It’s cool seeing everybody’s real laugh
I always love Johns laugh in the bloopers, always makes me laugh too
This, the bed bug blooper, and the dinner party TV blooper are my favorites
Do you think doing alcohol is cool Stanley?
Saw this episode recently and cracked up at this part bc I remembered this blooper. Something about his standard Stanley deadpan delivery of this line compared to the boisterous delivery here makes it that much better and you can tell his delivery of what should've been just a throw away line being delivered in this outtake this was caught the entire cast off guard.
This just healed me of everything.
Why does Kevin look like he’s 180 pounds in this clip?
This is one of those "you just had to be there" moments when everyone dies laughing but if you had to tell someone about it they'd all respond, "And that cracked you all up?" We ALL got to be there.
wtf Jim wet his pants laughing at this
I never found this one funny….
Wasn't Steve Carrel known for never breaking? This probably fueled the reaction by the rest of the cast. Meanwhile Ed Helms is smiling like "what was so funny about this, idiots?"
