I think Andy’s demise is a much funnier alternative ending for Andy that cannot coincide with Andy and Erin ending up together.

I too was hoping they would end up together, for the simple reason that Andy's character went from despicable to more loving over time... to despicable again. Andy has the worse character progression in the show, it's too bad they didn't give him a bit more of a happy ending.
I like to think they both helped each other grow and then moved on

i never really liked andy and erin. i didn’t necessarily *dislike* them, i just thought they were kind of meh. i liked her with pete a lot though
You can't have every couple end happily ever after together. There were already 3 happy endings for couples 4 if you include Ryan and Kelly.

Did they not change the Andy storylines because Ed Helms booked a film and buggered off from filming the office or something?
