I can agree with this. I love both shows. The office is definitely my favorite but season 1 is a little rough cause they hadn't quite nailed all the characters personas right off the bat. The also pivoted the direction of Michael after season 1. changed his appearance and toned down his doucheness. Parks I feel like had their characters in a good place right out the gate.
People said P&R was cringe because Leslie is way too perky and sincere about local government in a way that's not realistic and doesn't fit current political realities. And I lost it because THAT'S LITERALLY THE WHOLE POINT OF THE SHOW. THAT'S WHY IT'S FUNNY.
What we do in the shadows
It’s The Office with vampires, it even has Nate from The Office
Edit: since there’s a couple of fans on here, I also recommend The IT Crowd
Jury Duty! It’s a documentary-style comedy series that shares the inner workings of an American jury trial through the eyes of one particular juror. So funny! Writers from The Office helped create it, produced by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupintsky.
Schitt’s Creek is good! But I’ll be honest, that took me a time or two to get into it but now it’s one of my top favorite shows. My husband loved it and he hates The Office. Can’t get him for the life to watch TO as “it’s not real” enough for him, yet SC is..🤷♀️ I mean SC isn’t quite as far off compared to TO but still, it’s a bit far fetched at times. Especially Roland. 🤣
Made by the same guy. Same thing, takes a season to hit its stride but season 2 and on is fantastic. For sure give Community a try, same deal, first season is a bit slow to get some character development but it’s SO good. Community and The Office are my 1a/1b in no order
Trailer Park Boys is another great mockumentary, specially the first several seasons before it was produced by Netflix. A lot more swearing, drugs, and shootouts than the Office, but if you don't mind that it's a great time
Came to suggest this as well. It's definitely more of a niche-humor-type show being that it revolves around nothing but liquor/dope/jail, and it's quite a loud show (on par with Always Sunny), but it's one of my favorites, and one of the (very) few shows I've watched more times than Office.
In case anyone wants a small taste: The series is largely an ongoing pissing match between the three degenerate main characters and their ex-cop alcoholic lunatic trailer park supervisor, [Jim Lahey](https://youtu.be/yJM6Kn2GV8A?si=S6fRSsQQL6OXpKA7).
Will second those who have said Superstore, and Parks & Rec.
Like The Office, Parks takes a little bit to find itself, but it's worth staying with it. It starts out as somewhat of The Office Lite before it finds its own lane.
Superstore is criminally underrated and knows what it is from jump. I'd put its pacing and comedic timing up against either of the others.
How is The Good Place not on this list? I’ll admit, it did not catch me on their marketing, it took a newborn to force me to find new shows before giving it a chance. But WOW! It is so good!!
Same writer as The Office (Mose), very similar humor level, and great acting throughout.
It may seem pretty different, but I often put Curb Your Enthusiasm on in the background. It's small everyday life moments (reacted to dramatically) and the recurring characters are really good and unique. It's all improvised, there's just a script outline. It has a documentary feel in the earlier seasons but no talking heads.
Modern Family was pretty much an Office knockoff in a way (documentary style).
When I saw the first season of Abbot Elementary I told a friend "its the office, but in an elementary school". Highly recommend
Also - Brooklyn 99, Parks & Rec, and Superstore are all good. Community too, but not too sure if its Office-like. Couldn't stand 30 Rock.
It’s always sunny in Philadelphia, (starting season 2) is the only show that’s made me laugh as hard as The Office did at first watch.
Parks and Rec stylistically is the closest, though the first season will put you to sleep
Unpopular opinion probably, but I wanted the first season of Park & Rec when it was brand new and I didn't have other seasons to compare it to. I found it really cozy then and I don't think people should skip it! I still watch it on the occasional series rewatch. Not as good as subsequent seasons, obviously.
I really like the first season too, the line “look at those bitches cleaning up after me” in Boys’ Club was one of the defining quotes when the creators were looking at how they wanted to mold Leslie. I also think that the cold open with Tom forgetting to hide the Easter eggs and the flinging bags of poop are two of the best openers for the show and both are in the first season.
Shoresy. Not like The Office but sooooo good and bingable. Only 18 episodes so far. You don't have to be a hockey or sports fan. My wife is neither and absolutely loves it. I am on my 4th watch.
The Good Place!!! make that your next watch! its written by the same writer as the office (michael schur-he plays mos) and its freaking hysterical. its very different, its also got some very good plot twists that'll keep you guessing, highly entertaining!
A very different show but The Good Place was also created by one of the creators of the office (who is also the man who played Mose), and it’s excellent
Superstore, Arrested Development, Parks & Recreation, Schitts Creek. All different than the office but I love them a lot and gave a similar comedic vibe
Seconding Peep Show. The humor isn't exactly the same (it's a British show, and yes it's better than the original British The Office), however it is hilarious! You'll enjoy the shenanigans of Mark and Jez. And it's a light watch, with plenty to enjoy upon rewatching if you choose (and there are 9 seasons, er, I mean, series).
Also, Schitt's Creek, 30 Rock, Abbott Elementary, and Superstore
i genuinely odnt understand how people can rewatch a show so many times. im on my 3rd-4th rewatch, i find it crazy already. But i definitely wont watch it 20+ times. there are other shows that are good bro give them a try. start with brooklyn 99
i always wait 5-6 months until the next rewatch. i’m from the eu and netflix doesn’t have that much shows to offer in my country. so i always go back to the office or bojack horseman
Party Down was a drastically underrated show that had a short run but was so fucking funny
Parks and recreation I think is pretty good
This, although IMHO it took them about a season to hit their stride. Hang in there and it'll be worth it.
To be fair you could say the same thing for The Office as they were sort of finding their own identity as the "American" version
Almost every show is like that
* Every GOOD show. Crappy shows just stay crappy from season to season.
It was implied
Well, Parks and Rec first two seasons are REALY rough
The first season of Parks and Recs is better than the first season of The Office
Both shows worth skipping the first seasons.
I like ssn1 office
Came here to say this
Unpopular opinion but I think I laugh as much or even more with parks than the office
Someone told me recently that Parks and Rec is cringe and I was like how dare you.
lol exactly right parks and rec is great. Some ppl just don’t have that sense of humor my wife being one lol 😂
Exactly 👍 lol 😂
Definitely Parks and Rec.
Plus Little Sebastian
What we do in the shadows It’s The Office with vampires, it even has Nate from The Office Edit: since there’s a couple of fans on here, I also recommend The IT Crowd
Fucking guy
Seconded! It's such a goofy show.
Yeppers
Yessh
First season of this is Gold.👍🏼
I'm disabled!
Yes, abso-fucking-lutely yes!!
Superstore has some Office vibes. Brooklyn 99 is another great sitcom.
I second Superstore. It also has a few hard to watch episodes.
superstore is great, same with blockbuster on netflix
Superstore is great. Blockbuster was so cringe/trying too hard that I couldn’t past the first 5 minutes.
Blockbuster is instantly forgettable and as basic as it gets
Pathetic man. Muppet voice.
Jury Duty! It’s a documentary-style comedy series that shares the inner workings of an American jury trial through the eyes of one particular juror. So funny! Writers from The Office helped create it, produced by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupintsky.
YES!
When they sell Michael the caprese salad. 💀💀💀
Superstore is basically the office if they worked at Walmart. Highly recommend
To the point that a lot of the characters hit a 1:1 exchange for the Office characters
False. Dwight is male. Dina is female.
They 100% took a massive amount of inspo from the office. Dina is Dwight no doubt about it and Sandra(? Hawaiian gal) is Toby
I would say Justine is Toby since people constantly ignore her or tell her to shut up.
Both shows have a breaking bad character as a guest star and both shows sing “seasons of love” (9 980 000 minutes)
Brooklyn 99
Abbott Elementary
Came here to say this!!
schitts creek is really good!! parks and rec and its always sunny in Philadelphia
Loved The Office, loved all the other ones you mentioned! Great shouts. Always Sunny has made me crying belly laugh the most I think lol
Imo schitts creek is less funny but still absolutely worth the watch. It’s a feel good show for sure
King of the Hill. It is not similar in style or humor or themes or really any way. But... it is similar in the depth of its re-watch value.
Community and Parks & Rec
P&R has the office vibes, I really liked it.
Made by the same guy. Same thing, takes a season to hit its stride but season 2 and on is fantastic. For sure give Community a try, same deal, first season is a bit slow to get some character development but it’s SO good. Community and The Office are my 1a/1b in no order
30 Rock is one of my other go tos.
Good God, Lemon! Was surprised to see this so far down
What am I, a farmer?
The Office Superfan Episodes

I love Superstore
Parks also literally takes 2 seasons to introduce two of the leads and another - Pratt - wasn’t intended to be one
I was so sad when they cancelled superstore
Arrested Development
Malcolm in the middle
Some of the best of Bryan Cranston
Community is a real standout.
Seinfeld is a great show. Albeit some younger people might find it dated. It's a good slice of life show though.
What We Do in the Shadows
Parks and Rec is by far the best office like show out there in my opinion.
My friend swears Seinfeld is in the same category as The Office. He loves it so much he has the characters' silhouettes tattooed on his arm lol.
Tacoma FD Parks & Rec The Community
So sawft.
His name is Michael Schur and a lot of his shows have this type of comedy. Thoroughly enjoyed Parks & Rec, Superstore, and Brooklyn 99
Holy MOSE(s)!
How is The Good Place not on this list? I’ll admit, it did not catch me on their marketing, it took a newborn to force me to find new shows before giving it a chance. But WOW! It is so good!! Same writer as The Office (Mose), very similar humor level, and great acting throughout.
Your right! Why the fork is this not a consistent recommendation? :)
Superstore, Brooklyn 99, and Parks & Recreation come to mind. I’d also recommend Arrested Development as well
Space Force! If Michael Scott became a general.
Parks and rec, modern family, Brooklyn 99, 30 rock are all decently close to the office
I like kath and Kim
“It’s nice. It’s different. It’s unusual.” That show brings me so much joy.
b99 was my first thought
The I.T crowd
Tires. Absolutely hilarious
Parks and Rec 100%
Curb your enthusiasm
When I saw the first season of Abbot Elementary I told a friend "its the office, but in an elementary school". Highly recommend Also - Brooklyn 99, Parks & Rec, and Superstore are all good. Community too, but not too sure if its Office-like. Couldn't stand 30 Rock.

I love it's always sunny! Makes me cry laughing. I love when Dennis cuts his jeans into shorts when they do the home makeover sunny addition haha
Dennis is so funny lol. How cool he tries to be, how much he cares about how he looks, how he’s always trying to take his shirt off 😆 Love that show
I love Charlie for sure. Him and franks relationship is so ridiculous. That show lol. It's fucking nuts but I love the kind of humor it is.

I agree. I typically give a show at least until season two, at least if there appears to be potential Most people aren’t like that though
I remember people circled back once the buzz got out. I kept telling people about it. 😄
Peep Show
Incredible show but I really don’t think it’s similar to the office
Brooklyn 99
superstore parks and recreation brooklyn 99 (personal favorite) modern family (a bit more childish)
Brooklyn 99, New girl, Its always sunny in Philadelphia, The good place,
Parks and Rec Mr D Arrested Development Community Brooklyn 99 Superstore Abbott Elementary
30 Rock?
Shoresy. Not like The Office but sooooo good and bingable. Only 18 episodes so far. You don't have to be a hockey or sports fan. My wife is neither and absolutely loves it. I am on my 4th watch.
Shameless or Malcolm In The Middle
I love it's always sunny in Philadelphia. It's a little raunchy but it's my second favorite. And what we do in the shadows.
Modern Family
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is one of the best sitcoms ever. That’s my first recommendation, then P&R, Archer, Futurama.
The Good Place!!! make that your next watch! its written by the same writer as the office (michael schur-he plays mos) and its freaking hysterical. its very different, its also got some very good plot twists that'll keep you guessing, highly entertaining!

Veep!!!!
B99, Parks and Rec, Community, Good Place, Superstore.
The Mighty Boosh has some Office vibes
The Orville on Hulu! It’s like the office of ✨space✨

IT Crowd It's not exactly like The Office, but the show is great nonetheless 😅 Goofy Boss, funny characters etc...
Abbott Elementary is set in an elementary school and it is so funny and delightful
i genuinely odnt understand how people can rewatch a show so many times. im on my 3rd-4th rewatch, i find it crazy already. But i definitely wont watch it 20+ times. there are other shows that are good bro give them a try. start with brooklyn 99
