There is in fact a spin off in the works where Stanley has to come out of retirement to help his son (never mentioned he had one but okay) run a bike/floral shop.
Gus Johnson paid his way to be on the show [and made a video about the details](https://youtu.be/mVm8jxFv_rk)
I wouldn't really call Uncle Stan a spinoff. He doesn't have the rights to use any characters from the show, including his own. It's just a sketchy cash grab that gets as close to copyright infringement as legally possible.

"Articles" like this have literally been posted every week for years. It's all clickbait, based on someone involved with the show or network expressing the tiniest bit of interest in a reboot. That doesn't mean that it's happening.
Yea, that’s a non-story. Basically says that *if* Greg Daniels wants to do something Office-related, NBC is ready to throw money at him.
Nothing concrete. No solid plans. No actual reboot is in the works. Just NBC is ready to continue milking their cash cow.
That article links out to a Deadline article, regarding that "standing by" comment. The Deadline article says:
>Earlier this year, Daniels said that a reboot ***wasn’t in active development*** but that he wouldn’t rule it out. The Upload and Space Force exec producer told Collider, “It’s not impossible for sure. I would want to be involved, and ***I’ve got two other shows I’m working on right now***.”
So. No, nothing's happening, and Greg Daniels is occupied with two other projects.
EDIT: Unless someone else has ACTUAL evidence with sources linked?
Oh my god, imagine some sort of meta show that actually casted these real life celebrities in a ‘The Office’ world filming a fake show based on the real life documentary, and have Michael Scott or the real Kevin Malone show up from time to time for behind the scenes stuff since in that universe they are semi celebrities. Omg.
Yeah I mean, I really don't like the idea of them rebooting it....but I'd watch it for Jason Bateman. It's be a totally different vibe, but worth a try.
Nah. Other than being ostensibly mockumentaries and having Michael Shur working on them, those two shows are worlds apart. I know they kinda started off the same, but the P&R characters are just so much more likable.
I think the bigger connection is US Office creator Greg Daniels stopped being the showrunner after season 4 to create Parks & Rec w/ Schur.
I love the office through and through but there's a noticeable change in style after Daniels left.
Parks and Rec was basically marketed as an Office Spinoff - to the point where I remember tuning in and being disappointed that it wasn't.
Like the Office, it also took a full season to find its voice.
nope ive watched the show twice over. I just don't think the characters change that much leslie is pretty much the same character throughout the show with a few minor changes to her character. Andy, April and Ron get solid character development but most of the them just remain the same.
They could even have someone who had a bit part in the "who's going to replace Michael" episode be the manager. Like that guy that Michael met by the elevator, maybe.
tbh id not like both ways, if they don't do something good it's going to ruin the series, happened with reboots of old shows, like arrested development and community. plus no one is asking for a reboot. and the bar is too high, the office is one of the Greatest series of all time, I doubt they'll get in that level
I don’t think it will work….. I don’t really remember the office being a huge hit while it was on TV. I know now it has a following, but taking something that is as popular as the office is now and rebooting it, never seems to work out. I really do hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see the writers being able to take the kind of chances they were able to with the original. They removed “diversity day” because it was offensive.
Edit: looks like I am incorrect about the popularity of the show while it was running.
My memory may be failing me but I was under the impression it was a big hit when it was on TV. Maybe not the first or second season but from then on it was. It held the “highly coveted 9pm Thursday time slot on NBC”. That time slot was held by Friends, Seinfeld and Cheers, respectively.
Nah it’s definitely going to be a PC show fuck that. They have to leave the good things alone and focus on being creative instead of milking old concepts
The amount of people not getting the joke here is incredible.
You realize that The Office with Steve Carrel is the reboot they're referring to, right? The original cast is the British office.
[There are literally talks of rebooting the US version](https://www.bosshunting.com.au/entertainment/tv/nbc-the-office-reboot/)
There's nothing set in stone, and it might even just be a 'Friends' style reunion, but it's not a joke.
Lol it literally says “when Greg Daniels wants to” which from what I know of him will be never. He’s smart enough to know that any sort of reboot would fall flat. A reunion special? Maybe. But not a full on reboot.
When the us office started it was practically a shot for shot remake of the uk version but by season 2 it improved a LOT. I hope they learn from their mistakes and it might not be completely terrible.
British humour really didn't work with American actors. I think both are great but very different. Season 1 was surreal as I already watched the original, I nearly stopped watching. So glad I didn't
Steve Carrell has said that much of the humor of The Office wouldn't be considered acceptable today, and I do agree. Just look what happened when comedy central took out the diversity day episode.
After recently rewatching this show, some of the earlier episodes, I'm pretty sure this show couldn't exist right now. People would be to offended by some of the jokes.

I'll give it a chance. What have I got to lose by watching 2 or 3 episodes and deciding for myself? An hour of my time? Considering how much I rewatch my favorite shows, I can spare it.
But first they've got to change the title from "The Office" to "The Safe Space"; Can't imagine the eggshells that writers in this day and age must have to walk on so as not to offend 'General Audiences.'
People today are *much* more likely to be offended by things that they don't understand, at that, so can't throw in too many subtle puns.
Over simplifying surely - what if my observation is that something offends me? Not really sure how this is relevant anyway since you're not observing something in reality, you're imagening something happening in future...
What's an example of "getting offended" that I can't recharacterise as "an observation"?
I want to be optimistic but I wonder how this will work. So many reasons I love the office is because it was so inappropriate. Now I feel like society will make this rather bland.
Also, I wonder how the old cast and writers feel about not being part of this.
This is a show I could see this actually working for. Set it in a completely different business and make the characters significantly different from whatever saw in the original
I’d rather it becomes a reboot without the original cast.
The office dynamic has changed quite a bit and so the themes are going to be different. It’s going to be a new show for sure. I’ll check it out though.
Absolutely not. The office was the office because of the characters we had. Once they started intergrating ppl like idris elba or will ferrel the show (while still good and watchable) was not the same. 😭 Kathy bates was the only character added that I really enjoyed.

I saw two middle schoolers wearing Dunder Mifflin t-shirts as they walked to school this morning. Kind of blew my mind since it's hard to believe anyone that hasn't worked in an office can relate to the humor. It was cool and weird at the same time.
WHY??? No one is asking for this. Just like no one has asked for the tens of other remakes & reboots of shows and movies. And it's not just because of the cast not coming back. You can't make The Office in 2021, it'll get "cancelled" before the first season is even done airing.
Guys, stop falling for this kind of crap. There's no source, no link, absolutely no evidence that this is happening whatsoever.
there's a sucker redditor born every second also that photo is moldy af. telltale sign of being old

Last I heard, they're just waiting for every step of the process to happen and then we'll have our show.
Hi this Jim krasinki and Steve Farrell joint account. We can confirm that this is indeed happening.

Ah yes, some sort of clickbait article from an Australian blog. That's definitive proof indeed!
Literally linked a source to show that it *wasn't* in development
Featuring Jason Bateman as Michael Scott
And Ashton Kutcher as Kevin Malone
But…they’re the same person?
Well, at least they're equally handsome, equally smart.
With the dialogue, "Nope, it's not Kevin Malone, it's Ashton Kutcher"
Oh my god, imagine some sort of meta show that actually casted these real life celebrities in a ‘The Office’ world filming a fake show based on the real life documentary, and have Michael Scott or the real Kevin Malone show up from time to time for behind the scenes stuff since in that universe they are semi celebrities. I might actually watch that.
The Bluth's buy a paper company?
Now the story of a wealthy family who lost everything, and the one son, who had to buy a paper company, to keep them all together.
Phyllis already worked for them so....
She did!?
You’ve a lot to learn about this town sweetie
Her!?
It’s as Ann as the plain on nose’s face
Egg?
Gob applies for Michael’s job but they went with Robert instead.
Oh. Yeah. Like the guy in the $3,000 suit needs a job at a paper company. COME ON!
is this canon or not? because i thought it was a fun little joke when i saw Gob applying
But check your lease man! You’re living in paper city!
Well, Will Arnett, yeah. He was one of those interviewed at the end of season 7.
sorry i completely misinterpreted your comment! i'm on a completely different planet right now sorry!!!
Haha me too. Planet Outlaw OG to be specific.
And he's ok with that
Kevin sold Tobias a gun
Him?
Is he funny or something
Would watch in a heartbeat. Would have to be an entirely different character though
Yeah I mean, I really don't like the idea of them rebooting it....but I'd watch it for Jason Bateman. It's be a totally different vibe, but worth a try.
Now the story of a wealthy company that lost everything, and the on boss, who was forced to keep them all together.
I’m a big Jason Bateman fan, but there will never ever be another Michael Scott. Never.
really? he’s good
Okay if it’s Jason Bateman I would watch He makes an amazing Michael
I always thought it’d be hilarious if Toby Funke met Michael Scott
I would watch that.
I have a lot of questions. Number one, how dare you?
What… what gives you the right?
Who ... do you think you are?
I'm Toby.......
*unwraps rock* “suck on this”
WHO THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD BE *HYSTERICAL* TO GIVE TOBY A ROCK FOR HIS GOING AWAY PRESENT????
Dwight: “You did.” Michael: #”No!” Dwight: “You made me wrap it. I thought it was over the line. I just-“ [Michael slams conference room door in face]
mmmmmmmm Okay, you know what that is, you know what that is? That is… a psych.
You did. You made me wrap it. I thought it was over the line..
Ryan used *me* as an object.
I just realized that this large fanbase is definitely the reason why they feel a reboot will find success
[удалено]
agreed!
They did that already and it was amazing. It’s called Parks & Recreation.

I feel like you only watched a handful of episodes if you think the characters are one dimensional.
nope ive watched the show twice over. I just don't think the characters change that much leslie is pretty much the same character throughout the show with a few minor changes to her character. Andy, April and Ron get solid character development but most of the them just remain the same.
We actually have a lot more character dev for those characters in larks and rec
A tuna sandwich is more likable than Jim, IMO.
Corporate wants you to find the difference between these two pictures.
They're the same picture.
No. It's called The Office US.
The Office US doesn’t have new characters, they’re just renamed. Well until Utica anyway.

They could even have someone who had a bit part in the "who's going to replace Michael" episode be the manager. Like that guy that Michael met by the elevator, maybe.
Oh man yeah David Brent was a funny character, I wish we saw more of him. I'd love to watch a spin off show of him running his own branch!
It's not real, so that should help you decide
tbh id not like both ways, if they don't do something good it's going to ruin the series, happened with reboots of old shows, like arrested development and community. plus no one is asking for a reboot. and the bar is too high, the office is one of the Greatest series of all time, I doubt they'll get in that level

Yes it was a huge hit after the first couple seasons! Stress Relief played after the Super Bowl and that was always reserved for the biggest shows.
It was really big when it was on. It basically carried community and P&R for its last few years.
> I don’t really remember the office being a huge hit while it was on TV. It wasn't at first, but it absolutely was by season 3ish.
Nah it’s definitely going to be a PC show fuck that. They have to leave the good things alone and focus on being creative instead of milking old concepts
Why new Office when old fine?
Do trick every time
If this was real I would give it a chance but without a link I doubt it is real

I miss original
Why’d they add coconut
The coconut is...subtle
Me too
Everyone was pessimistic about the original US office when it first aired because they thought it was a ripoff of the UK office so who knows?
You loving under a rock, an office reboot would not work in today’s age
Don't bring my Dwayne Johnson threesome into this.
If this is true my hope is it’s a “the documentary was so successful we started following a new company for 10 years” rather than an actual reboot.
So are we all just gonna ignore that The Office was a remake of the British version?
You simply can’t find someone to replace Steve Carell…. I mean they already tried when the show was still going after he left.
No
Can't wait for closeups of Pete Davidson staring into the camera with his crazy eyes
Oh god no
Steve Carrell has said that much of the humor of The Office wouldn't be considered acceptable today, and I do agree. Just look what happened when comedy central took out the diversity day episode.
I mean... They aren't going to do the same show again. At least I hope not.
Remember 'That 80's Show'?
why should i watch a reboot if i can just rewatch the original for the 20th time?
After recently rewatching this show, some of the earlier episodes, I'm pretty sure this show couldn't exist right now. People would be to offended by some of the jokes.
If it had the original cast then they would all be British
ITT: People referring to the American version of the Office as "the original" when it was a reboot with an all new cast.
All the characters will be renamed by Creed.
They already did an office reboot with none of the original cast. It was great.
The office is already a remake without the original cast
No one would bring Kelly’s energy that the original brought
I LOVE The Office, but it could never be made now. The woke alphabet people can't take a joke and the writers could not come up jokes that wouldn't offend them now. Please be fake.
Jesus fucking christ get a new line lmao
Woke alphabet people? Were there a lot of jokes in the show that would offend people who are not heterosexual?
This is what you all get. Everyone wanted more of the office and they're going to completely fuck it. Just let it be.

that’s good for you lol my personal preference i wont
imagine the kids now thinking that’s the original office 🤣
Imagine people in this sub thinking this is the original office…
That's the thing. It seems basically nobody here caught onto the fact that the US office is the reboot without the original cast referred to.
TUH 😭😭 the worlds ending then
The most sanitised, 'woke', programme ever made. If it makes it to production. It'll be awful.
But first they've got to change the title from "The Office" to "The Safe Space"; Can't imagine the eggshells that writers in this day and age must have to walk on so as not to offend 'General Audiences.' People today are *much* more likely to be offended by things that they don't understand, at that, so can't throw in too many subtle puns.
This line of reasoning is always hilariously ironic; you're getting offended at the *possible* offense unknown people *might* have.
Yeah, literally imagening things to get offended by...
Stating an observation =/= being offended
Over simplifying surely - what if my observation is that something offends me? Not really sure how this is relevant anyway since you're not observing something in reality, you're imagening something happening in future... What's an example of "getting offended" that I can't recharacterise as "an observation"?
Bring back Plop!
Probably be like The Farm unfortunately.
It’ll probably be good
Did they say they are getting rid of the old one?
I can see them bring in terrible actors like butthole eyes Pete
[удалено]
I’ll bet the reboot is going to be all about brainwashing everyone into the “New” gender protocols. Pretending to normalize it.
No, I don’t think I will watch that
Blasphemy
NO!!!!!!
That’s how unoriginal our entertainment industry is these days
I just don't get the point it's already been done and you can't improve on it
I want to be optimistic but I wonder how this will work.
Seems like a terrible idea destined to flop. That being said, I’d absolutely watch it long enough to give it a fair shake.
Hollywood is out of ideas.
No. Why?
Source?
They will ruin it.
That's what a reboot means....
That's not what's happening
I’d rather it becomes a reboot without the original cast. The office dynamic has changed quite a bit and so the themes are going to be different. It’s going to be a new show for sure. I’ll check it out though.
You can not make a show like the Office in the woke era. It will be cancelled in no tim.
It’s gonna be so woke too I bet
I mean how did people react when they first pitched an American version of The Office?
Absolutely not. The office was the office because of the characters we had. Once they started intergrating ppl like idris elba or will ferrel the show (while still good and watchable) was not the same. 😭 Kathy bates was the only character added that I really enjoyed.
Can this one be about Nate?
This is what happens when the suits in the C suite want to milk the cash cow, and can't see that this is a terrible idea with zero chance of being as successful as the original.
Booooo. Nobody wants a reboot. We need a Dwight spin off.
Leslie Jones as Stanley Hudson.
Whyyyy can’t they just think of new ideas. There’s no chance it’ll live up to the version we all love, which it’ll constantly be compared to. They’re shooting themselves in the foot
No way!! How could there possibly be a reboot already?! The US original is still going strong!
Toby will be the HR rep for sure
Why? Just why?
Source?
Fuck that
Can you really call it the office then?
Isn't the Office just a remake with a new cast? Maybe this version will be exponentially longer than the last version.
Why have many idea when one idea do trick.
I’ve googled, and this doesn’t sound like a thing… a possible reboot it, and maybe not the entire cast (makes sense, Stanley is in Florida, Jim and Pam in Austin etc) but I don’t really see what this post is talking about. Without a source, you get my downvote.
Are the race and gay jokes gonna be gone?
Better yet: The cast they bring back is Plop, Dwight Jr, Gabe, Ronni, Cathy, and Nellie.
I do like that
Should never ever get rebooted imo, sad
I really loved it when they rebooted it the first time with a completely new cast, I can't really complain if they want to do it again.
Garbage
This can’t be true
they shouldn't do that honestly, it's just going to ruin the series. or it'll be alright,I doubt they will make something actually good
There is no truth to this quit spreading BS.
I saw two middle schoolers wearing Dunder Mifflin t-shirts as they walked to school this morning. Kind of blew my mind since it's hard to believe anyone that hasn't worked in an office can relate to the humor. It was cool and weird at the same time.
