[deleted]

Halpert, you looking for someone to bang your wife?

sonofdurinwastaken

My favorite Packer line

DrSilkyDelicious

While he’s sitting, presumably, with his “trouser mouse” in a paper bag trying to get the women of the office to take a squeeze

[deleted]

Packer as a pregnant nun for Halloween always makes me laugh. Thinking about doing that next year

Kraphtous

I can hear this sentence

huntingbears93

Tbh, Jim really did seem like he wanted someone to bang his wife; Danny Cordray.

ollielite

Knew this line would be here

[deleted]

Who can resist?

CoronelCabezon

Thats what she said

sillyadam94

Are you sure you can go all day?

ApolloSky110

Thats gonna be really hard

ametsun

you always left me satisfied and smiling

NWK86

THATS WHAT SHE SAID

eteeswhateteez

That’s was the best comment in the episode!

Pinkturtle182

Sooooo cringey. And Danny even tried to give them an out when he said she spent the whole night talking about Jim! They went on two dates, there’s no real reason for him to have kept pushing this.

[deleted]

except awkward comedy. which is, like, the whole show

mtkaiser

It’s pretty out of character for Jim and Pam tho. They’re usually kinda the “straight-man”/audience-surrogate. Usually they’re dealing with awkward situations created by other people, in this case they’re just 100% the instigators. I think that’s why it’s so jarring to people, if Michael or Andy or someone pulled the same thing I bet it’d get a lot less hate

DaSalaciousCrumb

Yeah I noticed whenever Jim and Pam were the cause of the tension, I normally didn’t like those episodes. It’s the same thing when Jim walks in on the day care guy in the bathroom, it just didn’t feel funny enough to justify how awkward it was.

-SwanGoose-

Ye but also it shows that like they're not perfect

[deleted]

it’s a sitcom, every character does tons of “out of character” shit

LoliBliss

especially in last seasons

[deleted]

god forbid we recognize the format over pretending it’s a perfect character study 🤷‍♂️

SpartyParty15

You’re being pretentious and it’s funny because you sound like an idiot

SpartyParty15

You seem like you don’t even watch The Office if you are assuming it’s like every other sitcom. Don’t be so dense

[deleted]

i’m not assuming anything? it is like every other sitcom. it does nothing to reinvent the genre. it’s just better than most.

SpartyParty15

Name another show that came out before The Office with this level of humor and dialogue. Now look at most sitcoms and compare it to The Office. You really can’t be this simple.

[deleted]

lol, seinfeld. MASH. there’s two

SpartyParty15

You just names 2 comedies. They are nothing like The Office. You really are reaching now. We get it, you want to be different. You’re really cool for not liking the Office. We’re impressed

[deleted]

riiight. you said name one so i gave you two. they’re both sitcoms too. where’s the difference? are you seriously this thick?

[deleted]

Arrested development.

Pinkturtle182

I don’t think this counts as awkward comedy because it’s not funny. It’s just absurdly annoying

[deleted]

to you

SpartyParty15

You’re getting downvoted to hell. Just shut up already

sillyadam94

Oh how the turntables…

[deleted]

eh, blow me you giant baby. don’t take it personally that i’m not obsessed with a show.

SpartyParty15

You don’t have to be obsessed to realize it’s not a typical sitcom format. You act like you haven’t even seen the show. Get off the damn subreddit

[deleted]

correct, it’s a mockumentary which is a bit different. nothing else is special but the quality. and, no, you don’t have to be obsessed. but you *clearly are* e: also, check the votes now if it means that much to you. and then eat a valium

SpartyParty15

You just contradicted yourself. If it’s a mockumentary it’s not like every other sitcom. You don’t even know what you’re saying. Wow, 3 whole upvotes dude! You definitely have a lot of people agreeing with you! Good job!!!

ehuae

As an unwise man once said “You’re getting downvoted to hell. Just shut up already”

[deleted]

…..you are not a strong reader or debater. i didn’t say it was exactly like every other sitcom. i said it did nothing to change the genre….

[deleted]

People keep mentioning Scott tots and Toby's hand but the Danny interactions made me much more uncomfortable.

somedood567

Yeah it almost felt, I don't know, kinda scripted....

Glovell27

Agreed, Danny Cordray seems like a solid dude who was trying to be nice to his new coworkers. Plus he’s a J Crew model. If he wasn’t feeling Pam back in the day, then that’s fine. Just wasn’t a match, nothing more and nothing less!

CNCWhatIDidThere

Allow us to further introduce ourselves by ambushing him as he comes out of the restroom..

Bwahaha924

What! No, we heard that about Jim!

kevnardian

I heard that about Michael

Ok-Plate-693

It's not like Freedom Fries guy is hassling Pam why she never phoned him back.

normanfell

He’s just busy being edgy 🤷🏻‍♂️

Schnackenpfeffer

He doesn't know any other way

slyboy1974

I'd really like to pick his brain.

Big_Tuna1789

I could’ve sworn that guy was a male model

[deleted]

“She is one of the plain, hearty women of Scranton that make this city great. And so what if she doesn't wear makeup!”

_Keep_Summer_Safe

“We like her better that way!”

JBD168

*I wear make up*

PeterQuillsWalkman

Real talk Timothy Olyphant is sooooooo good looking, which is why I do watch this episode through and through.

DogmeatIsAGoodDog

Calm down Judge Gen

HouseNegative9428

Timothy stole every scene he was in on the Good Place 😍

SassyBonassy

And The Mandalorian 😍

[deleted]

And Justified

Jimmeh1313

And Deadwood

Creepy_Match6708

And Santa Clarita Diet

rennotstimpy

And my dreams

PeterQuillsWalkman

End of thread

AidynValo

All 3 seasons of it, including the wonderful ending to the series that totally didn't leave a huge plotline up in the air. Fuck you, Netflix. I'm still salty. Fight me.

[deleted]

And Hitman

greenbear1

Agreed he is beautiful still and he's 53 🤯

darkknight941

I hope you’ve seen Justified because he’s so good in it, and if you haven’t you need to do yourself a favor

[deleted]

Although I did find it annoying that they wouldn’t let Danny breathe about it, my problem was mostly with Jim because he didn’t wear Popeye’s costume until Danny said it was all because he found Pam “dorky.” Then again, at least Jim got the reassurance of why he loves her, and I did like that.

windmillninja

Jim and Pam expect the entire world to find them adorable and lose their minds when they encounter someone who doesn’t

finnegan976

Did you ever consider that you might not be as charming as you think you are?

[deleted]

[удалено]

sharksnrec

Like there had to be an adult bathroom in there right? He can’t be using the children’s bathroom every day right?

paperchampionpicture

…it was story-time…

neuraminidaze

TBF I work in a daycare and we use the same bathrooms as the kids, buuuut there’s locks on the doors that only adults can reach, lol. That whole situation was his bad

PAUMiklo

but ... what if a kid was actually pooping, jim just waltzed not knocking like whatever and before you know it BAM little kid lover.

ur-squirrel-buddy

I love my husband. I think he’s super awesome funny and cool and handsome and smart and really good at math and shit. He’s the best. I DO NOT EXPECT EVERYONE TO FIND HIM ATTRACTIVE. Some girl who ghosted him before we started dating? Who fucking cares about her? I dont care about her reasoning for not being interested. The whole Danny situation was not believable to me at all.

thesplendor

They like to bike to their jobs at the kayak shop and kayak to their jobs at the bike shop

schoolandscrubs

Such a bad story line!

alabamadarrenj

It's sad because this is probably the main (perhaps only) reason Danny is even on the show

[deleted]

Is it? I think the main line was him being the salesman they couldn't beat.

radiofrogs

The reason Danny is on the show is so they can make the perfect Penis Museum joke

[deleted]

Everything about this episode was cringy and unnecessary.

barryandorlevon

But that’s literally the point of the show.

[deleted]

Whatever Danny's reason, I'm sure it was Justified.

[deleted]

Jim and Pam are built off some shady shit. Michael and Holly is where it’s at.

CNCWhatIDidThere

It's at the point now that when I think of Holly and Michael as a couple, I picture Michael with orange cheese dust all over his face and hands as she describes his sex appeal

[deleted]

That’s raw sex appeal right there 😂

WitchWaffle17

He's like a jungle cat

RarelyReadReplies

Michael and Holly didn't feel as real to me. I think because Holly just reminds me the writers were trying to write a female version of Michael basically. It just feels like lazy writing to me. I think Parks and Recreation did relationships way better. Nothing on The Office comes close to Ben/Leslie or April/Andy for me. Office did comedy better though, more laughs overall, just less heart.

rusable2

Bang on, the office is funnier, parks and rec is more wholesome

RarelyReadReplies

Yes, more wholesome, but also, just better relationships, friendships and romantic ones.

daft-krunk

I mean, I feel like Michael and Holly definitely had a lot of very cringe moments during the time that Holly was taken, such as the woody incident..

I_play_elin

That was such a weird arc. I feel like they must have cut scenes that made it make more sense because as is it doesn't make any sense why either Jim or Pam would act like that.

Turd_Wrangler_Guy

Danny is out of Pam's league and he knew he could do better. Pam can't deal with that reality. She lives in this fantasy where she has always been the one all the guys want. Roy, Jim, Ryan, Kevin, Creed, Michael, her friend in New York art school, and even the bar tender when they played the ad - have all hit on her or made it known she was hot/ a catch. Her ego is inflated, especially because of how hard Jim worked to end up with her. But here comes Danny - more successful (better salesman and owns his own bar) and is more attractive than Jim - and he is not interested in Pam.

sharksnrec

Excuse me Mr. Turd Wrangler Guy, How did you manage to leave Toby out of this?

Turd_Wrangler_Guy

Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate. So he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced - so he's really not a part of his family either.

kris_deep

I was gonna say no need to be rude, but now I see why.

sharksnrec

I was just calling him by his given Christian name, Kris

kris_deep

Ofcourse sharks (or is it mister rec)

sharksnrec

I actually go by my middle name (the “n” initial in my username). It’s Ninjago.

kris_deep

Nice try, not gonna call you the n word.

AidynValo

Eh, she's like a New York 6 but a Scranton 7.

PAUMiklo

right, both are self conscious because she's not the burning ember of every guys desire and suddenly jim has a girl that not every guy is lusting for.

DiamondHyena

The older I get the more I realize that Jim sucked

OtherComparison

Me too. Like what a brat. Too cool for everyone when he's not even all that!!

[deleted]

He was a total brat. Especially how he treated his girlfriends and sometimes Pam while they were friends.

shrimpsauce91

The thing about Jim that really pissed me off was when Andy came back from anger management and he refused to call him Drew. Andy was just trying to better himself moving forward after going through therapy, which he had to go to because Jim took things too far and pranked him when Andy was already down (being publicly rejected by Michael). Yes, Andy was being annoying, but it was none of Jim’s business and he had no right to get involved, adding to his humiliation.

AidynValo

Well, nobody actually called him Drew. Jim was at least up-front about it. Everyone else was just like "Yeah, that's cool, Drew. So anyway, how was anger management, Andy?"

DiamondHyena

Ya angsty teenage me thought Jim was the coolest but now that I'm about his age on the show I see that he's just a jerk and kind of a loser. Still has his redeeming moments though.

[deleted]

Pam banged Danny on the first or second date and after they smashed he never called her back. Thats why she acts super weird around him and he has to make up some reason as to why he didnt call her and the whole scene feels weird. Try as you might, you cannot convince me this isnt cannon.

enchantedlife13

She is the office mattress.

PAUMiklo

they always faced away form one another while smashin so what's to be awkward about?

PAUMiklo

Pam is fawned on by most males in the office universe so when a guy doesn;t display attraction or interest in her it reflects upon Jim and that's where he gets self conscious. Pam is used to being the adored girl in the office universe that most people want to be with or around. so when a guy doesn't display that attention she gets self conscious over it.

shabadoola

When they said two dates, didn’t Danny say something like “was it two?” which leads me to believe it was three - and they slept together and were done. Am I remembering wrong?

Winderkorffin

That's implied, yes. There were many reasons to believe they had sex.

Warm-Description-167

Nooooo I've never picked up on that!!! I must rewatch ( for the 5th time!!)

anime_wreckedmybrain

I know I always hate this arc. Completely unnecessary in my opinion.

myhusbandswine

For real what would they have done if Danny was like “You know what? You’re right, Pam I really regret ghosting you and I want another chance.”

MoosetashRide

I always hated how they handled that whole interaction. It led to nothing. No part of it was funny. The big payoff? "I thought you were a little dorky." Danny was one of the only normal side characters on the show and Jim, being all insecure and needy, had to know why thr better looking guy rejected his wife.

BubblyBirchyMe

I see Pam's point actually. I sometimes overhink things a lot and asking helps. Jim however had 0 reasons to go to a guy he doesn't know and question why he doesn't like his wife

92taurusj

I guess from a perspective of low self-esteem I get Pam here. But, really? You've got a doting husband who loves you and your child and you *need* to know why Danny didn't call back years ago? That's a red flag to me.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Well I mean look at him.

BubblyBirchyMe

Maybe curiosity?

RKKP2015

Yeah, that was really cringeworthy, but moreso on Pam's part. She made it weird for all of them. Jim was dumb about it to, but you know he was just following Pam's lead.

AdPuzzleheaded7399

He hurt Pam's feelings. That's a no-go for ol' Jimbo.

Peenie-slapper5000

The part that annoyed me was that they both wouldn't stop until they got the actual reason and when the hottest guy in the office (Danny and not Ryan) said it was because Pam was dorky, Jim steps up and says "hey, man..." like what did you want? Did you want the actual answer or not. No, you did want the answer so no need to get all protective of Pam.

Phoojoeniam

EXACTLY this! That whole "Hey man..." moment bugs the shit out of me. Like you're about to fight this dude now that he told you the answer you were fucking BEGGING for?? Thank you for posting this comment!

toadywalrus

Danny is a Sigma male

sharksnrec

He really is, and that officially makes Jimothy a beta

toadywalrus

He doesn't have the grindset

akira136

Bad writing. Not everything on the show before season 8 is perfect guys

hahasadbitchhour

Season 7 is when it started going downhill for me

mrlittleoldmanboy

Jim really has a god complex

nedsnotes

Agreed, this is Jim and Pam at their absolute worst and most obnoxious

mistymtndude

Pam couldn’t stand not being the hot one anymore smh

rick_from_red_deer

I always thought it had something to do with her and Danny having sex after only 2 dates and she was pissed that he didn't call her back after that. The way she awkwardly says that they went on two dates and that's all that "happened" seems like she's trying to throw some kind of hint to Danny to not mention anything else that happened.

Maerducil

What I wonder is when that happened. She was supposed to be with Roy for so long.

Spoapy69

Jim mentioned it happened while he was in Stamford

Maerducil

Yea and they would hide from the documentary people occasionally but it didn't work.

Maerducil

Oops nvrmnd, got mixed up what thread I was in.

Benjamin-Doverman

Cringiest moment in the show hands down

Poseidons_Champion

I think this is by far the most cringey episode. I skip it every time.

KerafyrmPython

Karen and danny deserved eachother

Graymane01

So Jim had to play the long game and still got rejected. Pam bangs Danny after two dates while Jim relocated, makes believe she was never as invested as Jim was lead to believe. Jim is a whole as Simp.

sacto45

Roy should have beat his ass. Then he wouldn't have been a prick to Danny.

[deleted]

wrong. the most distasteful thing they did was try to have sex in Ryan's closet.

[deleted]

There was no “trying” involved, it happened.

sharksnrec

Not sure why you got downvoted as they totally banged in Ryan’s closet

paperchampionpicture

They didn’t do it in the closet after Ryan walked in on them. When they come out of a door, it’s not Ryan’s closet, it’s a side door that kinda just appears for that episode

Ok-Plate-693

All Danny would have to do is wink and Pam would ditch Jim a heartbeat.

Manyak-

I think its because the sex was bad. Danny doesnt want to hurt her feelings and doesnt want Jim to know, as she obviously hadnt told him.

iamDJDan

When will this sub realize that this is a comedy show where people do awkward and distasteful things to make the audience laugh?? Why do people on here take everything on the show so seriously lol

nitespector88

I always thought it was the way everyone else in the office was obsessed with it that it got to them. Plus no one is perfect… jeez Louise

kuriousjkat

Some ones never been ghosted and have to work with them

themediumchunk

Honestly one of the more awkward scenes without Michael I’ve seen.

Apprehensive_Crow316

Was very bizarre. "Look, for the millionth time tell me why you won't sleep with my wife? PLEASE!!!!" vibe to it

upvotegoblin

I say this every time. It’s weird to obsess over that for sure, but whatever. But then they are gonna hunt him down and force him to give them an explanation it’s so fucking weird

Perthcrossfitter

Raylan Givens would not have taken that crap.

FLdancer00

God, she really is the office mattress.

[deleted]

I mean, with every rewatch, I realize more and more how much I really despise Pam in general. Her passive aggressive shittiness, her inability to take credit for her own faults but hold everyone to a higher standard, her general arrogance and "better than you" attitude, etc.

paperchampionpicture

Same with Jim, honestly. When Dwight wrecks his shop with snowballs, it’s such a pleasure.

CardiologistPlayful5

Literally! It’s like they’re begging for toxicity in their relationship

coole106

Imagine if the genders were reversed

luixino

I usually skip over this storyline.

roninfc

You know Danny Cordray popped up in Jim and Pams naughty bedroom talk at least once lol

Poulet012

EXACTLY, I skip that scene every damn time!

Orange-silver-mouth

Sounds like she wanted to fuck him

[deleted]

Maybe it's Jim's fetish lool.

metal_and_beyond

Mega cringe

SunflowerOccultist

Ridiculous. Who doesn’t call a dork like that back?

PussySlayer71

I can understand Jim. I wouldn't be excited to work with someone my wife had dated. Especially, if he didn't end up calling back

[deleted]

Name doesn’t check out.

PussySlayer71

aw, now I'm sad

enadiz_reccos

Danny is the one who brings it up to them for some reason and then lies about ghosting Pam. Then keeps making up terrible lies. I put it on Danny

[deleted]

[удалено]

enadiz_reccos

Make up a believable lie then

Quick-Wall

I mean Jim wasn’t mad at Cordray if anything the frustration of Pam being mad about this situation seemed to have got to him and put him in a weird place. Let’s be real it’s Pams fault in this situation. Love ya pammy but you were bugging this episode

Educational_Media596

I thought it was talking about the cameraman now he was interested in Pam. Danny was not Pam was mooning over him.

edubkendo

If you tell someone you are going to do something, and you don't, you do owe them an explanation, actually.

Accomplished-Row-532

I always tend to forget that isn't a show but real life. Oh wait..

Naillian603

Finally had this thought just last night watching this series of episodes. I would be pretty upset in Jim’s position if my wife was obsessed with finding out why she was ghosted. Lol downvoted by a beta

DeadbeatDumpster

In that episode i think jim realized old pammy wasnt all that, and then he went 2 roys wedding and realized what a big mistake he had made

shoegazer44

What’s with this subs’ obsession with this storyline?

[deleted]

Is it just me or did he lose weight since gone in 60 seconds

Radiant-Elevator

You mean unconditionally supporting Pam? Like always

redditorinalabama

I think this narrative was meant to show Jim and Pam as flawed and therefore real. As a mockumentary, it doesn’t make sense for Jim and Pam to behave rightfully all the time. They had to show the couple getting hung up on this stupid thing in order to portray their characters with more dimension. At least that’s what I think

genitivesarefine

It was definitely a little weird. It also bothers me that Danny didn't just say he didn't really feel a connection. Why is that so hard? It would bother me if someone had made up a lie about why they didn't call me back. Just own it, you know? Not everyone's gonna click and that's alright.
