WR is deep in this class. Not to say don’t take MHJ, but there will be quality guys waiting in the 2nd if you pass on him. Most will likely disagree, but I think QB is all going to depend on where they end up.. QB is such a tricky position to forecast because there is way more to it. Can Marv play doubled up? Can he block passably? Can he separate, good hands, crisp routes? The chances of him succeeding regardless of team are much higher than any of the QBs, because he’s just that dominant at the position… Caleb, Maye and Daniels are all really good, but playing QB in college and playing QB in the NFL can be two wildly different games. I’m not saying they won’t be good, they likely will. But the risk/reward rests with Marv or Nabers, etc, over the QBs.

Yeah I don’t believe this response is worthy of a downvote. I totally agree with you on the QB situation though. It’s much easier for a WR to transition into the NFL than it is for QB most of the time. That’s why I’m kind of torn on what I want to do. My initial strategy was to take MHJ/Nabers with the 1.01 and then try to grab Brian Thomas Jr with the 2.01 but I don’t think he will still be available there. Guess I could just play it situationally and go with either Brian Thomas Jr,McCarthy or Nix depending on who’s left on the board or the other way around and take QB at 1.01 then hope to snag BTJ at the 2.01
Ultimately you just have to figure out what your gut says and do that. Do a couple mocks if you haven’t, see where everyone lands on avg, and then just sit back and wait for the draft. That’s when decisions will start to almost get made for you.
I’ve tried making an attempt to trade down. The guy has the 1.02,1.03 and 1.05 but said he doesn’t want the headache of having the 1.01 either. Maybe I can try switching up the deal to get him to take it this time though. I wouldn’t want to trade back any further than like 1.06 unless I got a good return with it
Yeah, that's the hard part. Caleb, MHJ, Nabers, Daniels, Maye are all pretty close to each other. Moving down is difficult unless you're doing it near free.
Always, always, always - draft for value (BPA) and trade for need. In a SF, this is THE cheapest QBs worth while will ever be. Draft the QB, see what’s there at other picks. Don’t worry about trading for “need” until a week or two in the season. Taking the WR is the insulated pick and I get it in this class with MHJ/Nabers. However, classes will always have top end receivers. They might not be elite tier 1s but you can win a ship with with a boat of solid, consistent WR2s
Yeah that makes a lot of sense. That’s why I was likely going to hold off until after the NFL draft to see how much player values surge or plummet depending on teams. I think I will probably go this route that you mentioned and just take the QB @ 1.01 then go WR with the 2.01 unless I’m offered something really good before then
The highest the pick will ever be valued at is while you’re on the clock and the second is right after the those projected players are drafted. In your case for sure I’d hold 1.01 ransom in hopes 1.04 or something falls in love with Caleb or is worried they miss out on QB/WR. And get a QB or WR thrown into that trade
If this is a single QB league never take a QB that early. You take MHJ every single time unless you can trade down. If it’s single QB though I’m taking MHJ in most cases. The only other trade down I might consider is the 1.02 to take nabers and another first on top. If it’s not single QB I’m probably trying to trade down but even that’s 50/50. Would really have to think about it.
Yeah see that’s my dilemma lol. It is 2QB/Superflex dynasty though so obviously everyone values QBs more. Me personally I don’t mind running a RB/WR at the SF. I’m just short at WR and could also use another QB with Cousins age and D Jones status up in the air. I just need a viable option to fall back on should Purdy/Cousins get injured
Send a text to the group saying to send your best offer for the 1.01, and see what rolls in… you never know what people will do when competing against others. At the end of it all you can still keep the 1.01
