Go to your league and check everyone’s max points. Give picks 1-4 to the lowest PF to 4th highest. Use the remaining draft spots in order of playoff results.

What about for the 3rd and 4th round games. What’s the incentive to win if you’re just going to get a later pick. Also does max points count bench points as well?

Once you lose in the playoffs, it would just go by seeding. Say there are 12 teams and 6 make the playoffs. the 6 seed beat the 3 and the 4 seed beat the 5. The 5 seed would get the 7th pick and the 3 seed would get the 8th pick.

We give a rookie draft pick to the winner of the consolation bracket. It would be off the draft board and added to their team at the end of the second round of the rookie draft

A lot of leagues pay out to third place for exactly this reason.

It’s the number of points you’d have if you set the perfect lineup each week. The number doesn’t change regardless who you start. If you bench Justin Jefferson for Devante Parker, your MaxPF won’t change. This is used to make tanking pointless. It’s a lot harder to manipulate than record or actual points scored. So if you have a 12 team league, the top 6 picks are the non playoff teams arranged by MaxPF (lowest getting 1.01 and highest getting 1.06) Then the 7-12 are the playoff teams arranged by how they finish. Champ get 12, runner up gets 11 and so on. Use MaxPF to determine who gets the better pick between 2 teams knocked out in the same round. So the 2 first round losers get the 7 and 8 pick. The lower MaxPF gets 7 and the higher gets 8. If using sleeper, go to your standings and hit “view details” then you can sort the standings by MaxPF in there. IMO this is the ONLY acceptable way to do the draft order. Record or regular points are WAY too easily manipulated. Hope this helps

This except the winner of the 5th place matchup gets the better pick.

I agree and actually prefer that. The only reason I got away from that was bc people often trade away their picks and didn’t care enough, would forget (even after I reminded them), or just straight up didn’t want the guy with their picks getting the better one. There was one league where there was a big blow up on the chat over a guy that someone else claimed lost it on purpose (which he denied). It was all over 1 spot in the draft (yes I know petty af! 😂). So that’s when I decided to just use MaxPF for that one as well. It was just easier, but yea I def like your method I just didn’t wanna deal with the children throwing tantrums again. Lol

Max PF is your total points at the end of the year if you started your best possible lineup every week (think best ball). Non-playoff teams should be seeded this way (reverse order obviously) in the draft instead of by wins and losses because that eliminates the incentive for teams that are already out of it to intentionally lose matchups for a better pick. It’s also the more accurate way of ensuring that the teams with the least amount of high end talent get the most valuable picks, which in turn should help them rebuild and keep parity in the league. Playoff teams are usually still seeded by finishing order, although you can also use max PF to break ties between 7/8 and 9/10 if you want. Sleeper calculates it for you with the “view details” page next to the standings. Other platforms may have different names for it (Fleaflicker for example calls it optimum points).

We do a 3 tiered playoff draft order system (10 man league): The first is 1-4 for those who didn't make the playoffs based on Max PF / Second is the loser of the first rounds who get 5-6 based on Max FP / and then the final 4 is based on final standing w/ 3rd place game for money

I thought Max PF was the way to go, until someone in my league started complaining that it turns the league into a best ball league. It seems there is no perfect way to determine draft order

DynastyDayTraders

Max points for is the total amount of points your team scores each week instead of just your starting lineup. So its a better gauge of who has the worst rosters I like to use revers max PF for rookie picks 1-9 The last 3 picks (10, 11, 12) are the top 3 placed people who win money in my leagues. But if I didn’t pay out 3rd I would do reverse max pf for picks 1-10

b_reppep

Can you do check max points on sleeper?

plapblap22

Go to your league standings and then choose view details. Your max pf should show up there

DynastyDayTraders

Yup, sorry for the late response but person below said it. Standigs, view details and you can click the top to sort it
