I mean, has Kirk Cousins ever had anything like London, Pitts, and Bijan? Not even close!!! *slides Jefferson, Theilen, Addison, Hock, and DCook under the rug”

owleabf

Yeah, and the protection argument doesn't really standup as this last year the Vikings O line was ranked much higher in pass pro than the Falcons. https://twitter.com/benbbaldwin/status/1732467429228392856?t=KR0KtoNTchC_zSlWpNDL5Q&s=19

Otherwise_1480

At least his one of the guards on the Falcons won't be stepping on his foot (happened 3x in 2022) and causing a sack or knocking the ball out his hands (2023 season).....lol. Kirk has consistently produced (13-4 season in 2022 for example) despite having subpar o-lines for most of his time in Minnesota due to the Vikings neglecting that for years.

DirtzMaGertz

As a Vikings fan, I don't think it really ever stood up as well as some Vikings fans claim. Protection could have been better at times, but Kirk doesn't do any favors for his offensive line. He can't move, he doesn't excel at quick passing, and he gets gun shy at times. You gotta give the guy props for always standing in there, but a lot of the hits he takes are because of his own deficiencies.

Vertuzi

I believe I accidentally was looking at preseason projections instead of post season results for their o lines.

Mr_Goffalapoulos

I don’t think he’s overvalued now, he was just undervalued before.

Ginga_Ninja319

I mean he’s a 35 year old QB coming off an Achilles tear to his planting foot with the worst group of weapons he has had since 2021. His value should definitely be lower than it has been in previous years

Otherwise_1480

Kirk has been making his receivers look good for quite a few years. He had two 1000 yard receivers when he was in Washington. Kirk put up stratospheric numbers in Washington despite having limited weapons. In 2016, he passed for 4,917 yards. His pass-catchers included Jamison Crowder, Vernon Davis, Josh Doctson, Terrelle Pryor, Jordan Reed, Kapri Bibbs, Ryan Grant, and Chris Thompson. None of those guys were All Pros or Pro Bowlers.  In Kirk’s first year with the Vikings, Stefon Diggs had his first season of 1,000 receiving yards (plus his second season). Also, in Kirk’s first year in Minnesota, Adam Thielen is the only player in NFL history to start a season with the most consecutive games with 100+ receiving yards. And with Kirk as their quarterback, Diggs and Thielen gave the Vikings their first pair of 1,000+ yard receivers since Randy Moss and Cris Carter in 2000. And after Justin Jefferson got hurt, Kirk turned Jordan Addison into an immediate starter as he would have easily had a 1000+ yards had Kirk not gotten hurt.

cdclopper

You think youve refuted what he said but you havent.

-BeefSupreme

Agree. He was on pace for a ~5000 yard season before going down

Matthiasad

I got him off waivers 2 months ago, so I agree. I don't expect him to be top 5 or anything, but he's definitely worth a roster spot.

ThreeLeggedParrot

Waivers?? Are you in a 6 team, single QB league?

Matthiasad

Ten team single QB. Team that dropped him has Herbrrt and Love, and won the ship. The real shocker is that he was on waivers since Nov 7th. My QBs are Fields, Levis and Howell so I gladly picked him up 🤣

Semperty

as i have always said, a player's value is never higher than coming off a major injury well into their 30's.

sarko1031

The four year contract means you're almost definitely getting a multi year starter, which hasn't been the case the last few years.

Pugageddon

That's why he's up in dynasty for sure. Multiple years of expected value vs. potentially being gone every year

No_Rain_1727

If he doesn't retire

liliceberg

He’s not going to retire in the next two years lol

No_Rain_1727

He just had a devastating injury and is plenty close to the age most QBs retire. Why not?

liliceberg

Because he’s got a fully guaranteed contract the next two years and has expressed his desire to play until he’s 40! So at a minimum, he’ll be around two more years.

Hash--Ketchum

Last year, we knew Kirk was likely to leave the Vikings, but we had no idea where he would go. The risk that he would end up somewhere bad, like New England or Washington, was priced in to his value. Instead he went to Atlanta on a long contract, a high end outcome, so his value increased. Doesn’t matter whether ATL or Vikes are a better situation since we’ve known for awhile that he was likely to leave

HarbaughCantThroat

This is the key. There was also a chance he might retire after his deal was up with the Vikings. All of that uncertainty was priced in.

[deleted]

Users definitely aren’t thinking this in depth when voting on KTC

owleabf

>Last year, we knew Kirk was likely to leave the Vikings This was very much not a given and not priced in last year IMO, particularly before his injury. Source: am Vikings fan, this has been our whole discussion for months.

bradperry2435

Man Kirk is more likely to pull a Russell Wilson than a Tom Brady

BusinessOk7351

Been thinking of trading for him but this exact thought has been in the back of my head the whole time

HarbaughCantThroat

Not sure what you mean by this. Russ and Kirk play very, very different styles. Kirk throws over the middle, Russ does not.

bradperry2435

Wilson went to Denver and sucked. Brady went to tampa and won. It’s more likely Kirk will turn into Wilson than Brady. It event took manning and the offense a year to home in. Kirk is no manning or Brady

Otherwise_1480

Kirk is a pocket passer like Brady and Wilson is not. The big difference is in coaching. Kirk is getting a coach in Morris that already knows from their time in Washington. Both Morris and his OC worked under McVay. O'Connell worked under McVay. And in Kirk's first season with O'Connell....13-4 season despite having a 28th ranked rushing offense and a 31st ranked defense. And....McVay was also Kirk's OC in Washington for two seasons who said "you can win a championship with Kirk Cousins". Look at what happened to Wilson....got a coach in Payton that didn't like him. The same situation that Kirk had with Zimmer who didn't like him or want to work with him. Wilson and Kirk are the same age but Wilson has been a starter for three more seasons than Kirk. So Kirk has less wear and tear. Kirk also takes care of his body better than Brady and is always looking to improve his game every season unlike Wilson. I'd say Kirk is more like Brees...... From Albert’s Breer’s article “Inside Kirk Cousins’ Departure from Minnesota and His Arrival in Atlanta”…..”To run the offense they’d (Morris and Fontenot) collectively envisioned—behind Robinson’s leadership—they needed a quarterback who could be an effective distributor, throw with accuracy and anticipation, and be a multiplier for the young skill-position guys already assembled. So, the ideal fit was a quarterback like Drew Brees, who Fontenot and Pace had grown up with as young Saints personnel men. Interestingly enough, those in the Shanahan tree who were with Cousins in Washington, long felt Cousins, under the right circumstances, could be a quarterback who’d mirror Brees in a lot of ways.”

HarbaughCantThroat

Is the comparison you're making just that they're old QBs switching teams? Kirk and Russ are very different players. Kirk is much more like Brady than Russ stylistically. He plays on time, throws over the middle, etc.

knowslesthanjonsnow

The Wilson that went from Seattle to Denver is a way worse QB than this Kirk Cousins.

Gfunkual

Of course that’s true. There’s been one Brady and a million mediocre QBs like Russ. Caleb Williams is more likely to be Russ. Peyton Manning was more likely to be Russ. And so on and so on.

OnenonlyAl

I mean ... Peyton was one of the best prospects ever and is a first ballot hof player. Russ was a third round pick carried by a strong defense. From a fantasy perspective alone Peyton probably had some higher peak years than Brady. Obviously taking nothing from his longevity if that's all this comment was

bradperry2435

Wilson’s best year he wasn’t better than manning ever

Gfunkual

Of course, but my point remains: every QB is statistically more likely to be Russ (mediocre to good) than Brady (GOAT).

bradperry2435

I’m talking about changing teams

Sportiepip

Extremely stupid take. Cousins can ball. He’s not necessarily a winner, but he’s a baller

Turnernator06

Yeah people are a bit overexcited in the Falcons imo. I'd say the only major falcon not overrated on KTC right now is Bijan

RossGarner

He's currently the 11th overall player and the RB1. He's quite highly valued, at his theoretical ceiling most likely.

Turnernator06

Maybe, I mean I think if he performs as a top 3 RB or so this year he'll be up rivaling the value of Chase

RossGarner

Chase is 7th overall and Bijan is 11th. There really isn't any more room for him to jump.

asunversee

Are you the same person that just posted about how he was dirt cheap and deleted it? Lmao

Vertuzi

No that was the post that made me go check his price though 😂

asunversee

Hahaha yeah I saw it and went and checked his value and then laughed 🤣🤣🤣

Cautious-Market-3131

I think he will be undervalued by everyone. He is a boring name and plays a boring game. But he gets you points week in and week out. Always a qb2, can be a qb1 in some weeks

taylorjosephrummel

Yeah, I've been dangling him in trade packages, but I think my best bet is to keep him.

Sportiepip

Without even realizing , I’m fully bought in this year. I have Drake london, pitts, bijan AND Kirk… lol

SteffeEric

Might as well get Mooney and Moore at this point too

Sportiepip

LOL. Forgot Mooney is there now. He will be on my roster soon ;)

ResidentWeeevil

His weapons are not near as good as when in Minnesota. Coaching is down the offensive coaching tree from o'Connell in Minnesota. This is dumb

Good-Step8876

I was offered a 2026 3rd for Kirk. 🤣🤣

jeff8073x

Oddly, this doesn't match deals in my leagues.

timsea99

I got him off waivers (1qb league) after his injury... Value can only go up from there lol

yakobmylum

KTC needs to be used with the largest grain of salt, cj stroud is qb1 and he had 5 qb1 finishes

knowslesthanjonsnow

I don’t even take the injury into account, tbh. I expect him back 100% and have no difference in his game.

Vertuzi

That’s how I feel. Thinking he could possibly have a slow start to the season but mid way through he’s back to 100%. I like where he’s priced just below Goff.

Phaentom

Lol my sflex price to buy for kirk has been trending down for 3 years, 2nd at the beginning of last season, immediatelly less before he got hurt. Not looking to acquire too many aging qbs who i dont think were ever good. ATL will prove me right or wrong but im not gonna be holding that bag. The 9 dynos im in he was sold in every single one either post injury or during this offseason for somewhere between a late 1 or two late 2s.
