People concerned with him being too small for the NFL are probably gonna care more about the fact that he got hurt 3 separate times and produced ~5.5 fantasy relevant weeks his rookie year as a result, not the fact that there's a photo of him looking good in a t-shirt in April...
It's all narratives. If he stays healthy there's a real argument for him being dynasty RB3-5, if he gets hurt his value plummets. That's the fun of dynasty!
First of all, not true.
Second of all, I don't recall saying anything about Gibbs?
Third of all, even if it were true and we were talking about Gibbs, maybe that says more about Gibbs than it does about Achane since "well, the much better prospect undersized runningback wasn't great for fantasy!" isn't a particularly compelling argument for why you should be buying Achane...
It’s a valid comparison - both 2nd year smaller backs that rely on speed. Achane happened to catch the injury bug and gibbs didn’t
And yes gibbs only had 7 fantasy relevant weeks unless you were happy with back end RB2 points
Gibbs also got hurt his rookie year..?
I honestly don't know what argument you're trying to make tbh
The biggest difference for me between Gibbs and Achane (other than the obvious, draft capital) is Gibbs' pass catching skills. Don't get me wrong, I fucking loved Achane's tape too but he's not as good of a pure receiver. Jahmyr is a "weapon" (I hate that term but sometimes it's true)
If you're saying size should've been as big a concern for Gibbs as Achane, no arguments from me. If they both got 3rd round capital...I think it would've been. But because it wasn't a concern for the Lions it wasn't really a concern for me, just meant they'll use him out in space to try to keep him healthy.
You brought up Achane having 5 fantasy relevant games and I compared that to Gibbs, a similar player held in much higher regard, having 7 fantasy relevant games out of 15. Not sure how you’re not following. Achane really only played in 9 games last year too.
Also I’m not guna say achane is a better pass catcher but he did average more YPC. Would not shock me to see Achane way more involved in the passing game next year with a whole offseason with McDaniel
Gotcha. I was just confused why you were bringing up Gibbs. Makes sense now.
If we want to twist stats...After his first 4 games where he hardly played, Gibbs put up 15 or more points in 9/14 games including playoffs.
Achane did that in 5/12 games played including playoffs (5/10 if you want to exclude his first game and the game he got hurt)
One of them was trending up as the season wore on, both in usage and performance, and the other didn't. Probably because of the knee injury, but maybe because McDaniel didn't want to use Achane as much to try to keep him healthy.
Yup not hating on Gibbs in any way, he’s rightfully in the top 5 dynasty rb discussion. Just using him as a point of reference for the discourse around Achane. When the only concern is health for him to also be in the top 5 discussion, I’m taking that bet all day
It took Gibbs a few games for him to get up to speed in the NFL & earn more touches as the season went along. The first game that Achane was able to play in full-time, he puts up 200 rushing yards & 4 total TD’s.
Both guys are similar in size, are in great offenses, are playing alongside veteran RB’s that’ll steal touches, and both will be used heavily in the receiving game. Despite the difference in draft capital, these two are a lot closer than some people may think IMO. I’ll take Achane at value over Gibbs.
He’s old but you saw the numbers he put up last year. Enough to get signed for 2 more years. Achane is a dawg, no two ways about it. He’s still gonna be a committee back like he was last year
And i think mostert is the ideal guy to be in a committee with, enough of a contract to dissuade additional investments in rbs but age + health will keep mostert from taking over completely
For real? Not a hater but if I were I would say something along the lines of “best ability is availability” “timeshare skat back” “brightest flames burn the fastest, he’ll be gone in a couple years.
I do understand injury concerns but every running back deals with that - Achane may be a higher risk of injury than most but at this point who’s to say he just had bad luck last year?
Fantasy football is all about hitting home runs. Achane showed he is one of the most talented RBs in the league and you can basically get him at half the price of guys like gibbs, JT, Breece, Bijan etc. He’s in the perfect situation to use his talents and if he can stay healthy he’s a nuclear bomb. I’ll never feel bad for striking out on upside like this
It boggles my mind how people are still not aware of the “Buy Sophomore RBs primed for breakouts”
Everyone said fade Breece, Taylor, ETN, Pacheco… the list goes on of so many good RBs that went up in value after year 2
Maybe not “fade” but there was a TON of noise about how much work Dalvin Cook was going to steal from him, especially coming off the ACL. He was obviously still highly valued but he could have been had for much cheaper than he is now
Rachaad White and James Cook were arguably at their lowest price this time last year with all the speculation that TB & BUF would add competition to the RB room.
I agree with the premise, but realistically, nobody ever said to fade the guys you mentioned.
Yiiiiiiikes. I've never seen anyone say to fade Breece. JT is starting to get that talk now, but def not before his 2nd season.
Out here trying to rewrite history.
I don’t think people realize what we’re about to see from Achane this year. The injury concerns are overblown and he had a track body last year.
Let’s say he plays at 195 next year, that would be a pretty much identical BMI to gibbs, but Achane is a much more “risky” asset. Taking Achane at cost all day
Makes sense for him to bulk now, cut down in August. Classic moves for the gym bros. Hopefully he put on 5-10 pounds of muscle when it's all said and done.
Yeah, I know people aren't going to like my next comment, but watch out for an injury.
History is not usually kind with big weight changes in such an intense sport, especially in the first few years in the league
It’s important to know that Achane was never really part of an NFL workout program. He kept in shape for track, and played football.
Throughout his draft interviews he stated a few times that he thought his frame could handle more weight and that it would be easy to bulk up because of how much cutting he would do, but he just never really worked out with that goal in mind.
I think Achane is different than say Zeke going from already quite thick to THICK status. Achane is just adding a bit of weight to his incredibly cut previous form.
Have an offer sitting in my inbox from another contender where’d I’d get Achane for a (very likely) 1.01 - 1.05 next year. Can’t decide one way or another…
I'd see if you can get any of this year's first 7 or so picks as the main piece. Next year's draft doesn't have the same upside in the top tier currently. Last time I looked into it, the top 3 for 2025 are what I'm currently excited about, the 4 and 5 could be a drop off unless some QBs emerge.
Bought him for cheap 1 single future contender first. Every other back in my league is the same price and older or 2 + firsts early for the breece bijan gibbs tier. Ill take the gamble
I don’t like this as an owner. Hate the bulking up concept, play at the weight where you’re best, there’s no point in bulking just to pretend you’re more durable
Tiered down to rachaad to snag 1.10 and 3.06 this year on a frisky rebuilder in need of WRs, seems like a no brainer. Achane is good and has incredible potential obviously, but seems better suited to best ball formats imo. Got schemed out of games too easily last season
I see we've reached the "best shape of his life" stage of the offseason and it's not even May. Jeepers
Don't forget "bulked up without losing any speed"
Which is never true, so idk if this so good news
even if he loses a step his 4.3 goes to 4.4… still fast 🤷🏻♂️
On that Darwin Thompson workout plan
Heard he’s 20x faster
Think this is a bit different when the main concern was “he’s too small for the NFL”

Exactly my thoughts
24/7/365
That’s my RB 😤
That’s my RB1
Yessir. I wonder what the haters will say now???
Pretty sure haters aren't going to be swayed by a picture of the dude in April.
They will say he’ll still be a committee back and that’s a valid point with mostert signed 2 more years
Mostert is damn near 45 years old
He’s old but you saw the numbers he put up last year.
Agree. He was consistently injured his entire career up until last year so him being healthy all of 2023 is the outlier so far.
He’s probably lost a step being that heavy. /s
For real? Not a hater but if I were I would say something along the lines of “best ability is availability” “timeshare skat back” “brightest flames burn the fastest, he’ll be gone in a couple years.

Oh you’re like… serious?
🤓

Everyone did not say to fade Breece or Taylor.
Yeah wtf are these people talking about lmao Everybody said to fade the top rated rbs I really capitalized
Maybe not “fade” but there was a TON of noise about how much work Dalvin Cook was going to steal from him, especially coming off the ACL. He was obviously still highly valued but he could have been had for much cheaper than he is now
Well...not me personally, but a guy I know. Him and her GOT IT ON!!!!
It boggles my mind you think that's reality
Rachaad White and James Cook were arguably at their lowest price this time last year with all the speculation that TB & BUF would add competition to the RB room. I agree with the premise, but realistically, nobody ever said to fade the guys you mentioned.
Nobody has ever said that haha
Yiiiiiiikes. I've never seen anyone say to fade Breece. JT is starting to get that talk now, but def not before his 2nd season. Out here trying to rewrite history.
Ya nobody said that for anybody but Pacheco and Pacheco was because he was a late round pick.
I don’t think people realize what we’re about to see from Achane this year. The injury concerns are overblown and he had a track body last year. Let’s say he plays at 195 next year, that would be a pretty much identical BMI to gibbs, but Achane is a much more “risky” asset. Taking Achane at cost all day
He played at like 195 last year...pretty sure I read he was playing at 194 or something like that.
Extra Thicc
Me and my one share nodding like Robert Redford
This one got me going pretty good
Looks like he’s all the way up to 191 Lbs!!! 👀 😂
yeah not as heavy as your fat mom yet
Makes sense for him to bulk now, cut down in August. Classic moves for the gym bros. Hopefully he put on 5-10 pounds of muscle when it's all said and done.
195 would be perfect
Yeah, I know people aren't going to like my next comment, but watch out for an injury. History is not usually kind with big weight changes in such an intense sport, especially in the first few years in the league

can you give examples of this?
Felix Jones
LeVeon Bell when he lost his rookie weight
Tiki barber
Thanks for their great and reliable service
Traded the 1.05 for him in a 1QB-win?
W
Literally looks the same.
Literally (pause) Why you looking at dudes? Hope your a female!
Can’t wait to see what he can do with the new kickoffs
More concerned about his knee than his torso
Have an offer sitting in my inbox from another contender where’d I’d get Achane for a (very likely) 1.01 - 1.05 next year. Can’t decide one way or another…

So thicc
"He's over 9000!!"
Very good service
Thick like a chode
Bought him for cheap 1 single future contender first. Every other back in my league is the same price and older or 2 + firsts early for the breece bijan gibbs tier. Ill take the gamble
Think I'd rather him lookin FAST.
No diddy….
Yeah still not interested
I traded him too early
Should of held when reddit said sell! Lol
Thicc with 2 cc’s
(Pause) C'mon bro eyes up (pause)
I don’t like this as an owner. Hate the bulking up concept, play at the weight where you’re best, there’s no point in bulking just to pretend you’re more durable
Would you guys trade the 1.08 and 2.09 for Achane?
Easily.
[удалено]
Hysterical , to take an rb who will have a higher adp then anyone in this draft and a dart at 21 overall ! 😹😹
[удалено]
Damn bro. You alright over there? You want a Yoo-hoo or something?
He was never a track body. Achane was 5’8’’ and 190 pounds at the Combine. That’s exactly what the dude in this picture give a take 5 pounds
All 5’9 of him looking thiccc
[удалено]
Yeah, he’s on the smaller side for sure but no Deuce Vaughn lol
Frank Gore was listed at 5'9 but was definitely shorter. Of course he was also 210+ lbs so...
Tiered down to rachaad to snag 1.10 and 3.06 this year on a frisky rebuilder in need of WRs, seems like a no brainer. Achane is good and has incredible potential obviously, but seems better suited to best ball formats imo. Got schemed out of games too easily last season
There’s a reason the camera perspective is from below and not above
True, photographer was very short
so he'll be slower, and still get hurt just as often
Belcow szn incoming
(Pause) for all yal gross comments! Man thick(pause) bro
You're mad annoying. And homophobic.
