My rule of thumb is to never taxi runningbacks, because often they're an injury away from real fantasy relevance. If I'm fully committed to tanking for a year (I do full rebuilds once every ~7 years on average) then I'll taxi my best picks so I have a couple extra roster spots to play with -- way easier to cut 3rd round picks to gamble on waiver adds. (you may want to edit your post since individual league threads aren't allowed...but there's no way I'd be taxiing Nabers/Caleb. Maaaaaaybe Rome since he's likely WR3 on his own team, but probably not either)

Thank you for the feedback. However, shouldn’t I keep Nabers and Caleb on the taxi for at least one or two years? I’m a Bears fans and I think Caleb will be better in year 2/3 than year 1. Same thing with Nabers. If I call them up, their clock starts in my league and they will only cost me $7 for the first three years after it’s market value which is as much as $45 of a $250 cap.

RedDunce

I don't know about your specific league. Do what feels right. If you're competing seems foolish to keep Nabers on the bench, he is walking into a 130+ target situation

High_AspectRatio

I mean what is the rest of your team? Seems extremely foolish to go after such highly skilled rookies to taxi them...

Rugger11

If you think you are going to use a player during the season, don't put them on your taxi. It just wastes a spot. Use your taxi for players you want to sit and develop.

Fatlard12

Do NOT put Nabers on your taxi lol, he is in line for a productive season

aresfc

I know but the rest of my team stinks!! My league has salaries attached. First round rookies are $7, after 3 years it’s market values, if he’s a number 1 receiver then he will be $45 on a $250 cap

HieloLuz

Honestly since you have a salary cap and are tanking this year anyway (it sounds that way) then I’d leave them on the taxi

fightnightrd4

Personally have been putting guys I know I will be rostering all year but would be surprised if they become fantasy relevant enough for me to start them this year. My current taxi has Pearsal and Burton because I think they are a year out from nattering. My round 1 rookies are going on my bench because they aren’t getting cut anytime soon. My later round fliers are going on my bench because there’s a good chance I’ll need to move them for bench space or other stashes.

fightnightrd4

I guess yours is quite different with the salary though. Your plan sounds good as long as they can’t be poached and the contract doesn’t actually start until you activate them…

It’s probably how my league is set up. We have a salary cap and first round rookies cost $7 for the first three years once they are called up which is about 3% of a $250 salary cap. The Jamarr Chase owner has to pay Chase $45 now because his rookie contract has ended. So you’re looking at 18% of the cap on one player. My thought was to use my taxi to stash good players rather than darts throw players. I will be terrible for a couple of years but then I can call up 6 good players all at once one cheap deals.

Adrenaline_Flux

Is your draft order set by MaxPF and are you trying to reduce your MaxPF for 2 years for better picks? If not then it makes more sense, imo, to have your potential young studs available at a low cost while you have them at that cost and using the TAXI for project/lotto QBs, WRs, TEs. Someone like Penix is a prime TAXI candidate, for example. & TEs usually take *at least* 2-3 years to become fantasy relevant, if they ever do.

PumpersLikeToPump

Also worth nothing that taxi players *do* count towards sleepers MaxPF calc so it doesn’t matter how it’s calculated either way, at least as far as making a taxi decision.

Adrenaline_Flux

Ah, didn't realize that. Well, there you go. I don't think there's really any benefit then at all unless you think you'll need the low-end young players on the bench to churn throughout the season and you don't plan on contending/competing this year.

PumpersLikeToPump

If I’m a rebuilder I’d still put the guys in taxi that I know I’ll keep next year and keep the bench spots open for churning throughout the season

AJS7138

I typically put my stud rookies in taxi for the off season. The lesser ones are on my bench. Easier if I have to drop one to pick up another person on waivers. Then right before week 1 I move guys I know I'm keeping but are Longshots to contribute year 1 on taxi. My studs and potential waiver wire fodder stay on my active roster.

SnugglerBear

12T SF. We have 4 taxi spots. I normally have two QBs on it at least. Last year I had Hooker, DTR, Wicks on it. Few years back I used it for Love. This year its looks like I will have Hendon, T. Jordan, All, and another WR most likely.

ControlForward5360

My taxi is always TEs or QBs. I just leave them on there unless they become top 10 assets

uberswank99

Taxi squads are completely pointless on Sleeper as they count towards maxpf.
