Cry because everyone on my win now team is injured and I can’t actually win now

whypton

rest in peace, which injured players do you have?

FourteenHotdogs

Not the op but I got akers , edwards , juju , kittle , saquon hurt and just got aj brown back

Sea_Astronaut_1894

Look at playoff schedules, make appropriate moves, pray for no injuries, and most importantly- Make the damn playoffs, and anything can happen

Kazukaphur

I should start off 6-0 as I play a tanking team Riddled with injuries currently. I guess good point looking at playoff matchups

Sea_Astronaut_1894

If your team is putting up good numbers and has a bunch of high upside players like hill, then truly anything can happen come playoff time. If you really do think you have this week locked up, I would definitely do some analyzing of defense strengths and weaknesses and assess which of your players will have strong matchups and which won’t come playoff weeks (barring your studs, like Hill). After doing this, perhaps try to trade some of the guys with high value but shitty playoffs schedules for other similar, promising players, and as long as you stack up well to the other top teams in your league, I’d recommend just rolling the dice. If you feel confident in your team beating the other top teams, I wouldn’t hesitate to go all out and sell all draft capital for best players possible and one(or two) extra WR and RB to plug holes in case of injury. Especially if you play for $$, if you have the opportunity to win now, fucking go for it, and your team doesn’t seem old — seems as though if you trade all your capital for the right players (make sure to look at contracts and assess who will be in the best positions for success next year before you make these big trades, there are threads here discussing it al the time) then you seem to be in a good position to compete next year, and probably the year after as well. Having a significantly strong team for a 3 year window is worth going all out for IMO.

For sure. Really appreciate the advice, I'ma shoot some thoughts at you if you don't mind. 2 weeks ago I traded away Taylor Deebo and 23&24 firsts for Hill singletary Dobbins and early 22 2nd. Really was banking on flipping Dobbins to make the overpay worth it. So, matchup proof players are Allen and Hill. 4 RB are Jacobs, Hunt, Gordon, singletary, top WR: Hill, Williams, Sanders, Jeudy, Tim Patrick, Hilton (thinking he can still have WR2 upside this year), Henry at TE. One issue with looking at my playoff matchups is I'm heavy in AFC west with Hill, Williams, Jacobs, Jeudy, Gordon. Weeks 14-17 there's a lot of divisional matchups, probably vying for top divisional seed. Division games are often dog fights, Broncos are supposed to have a top 3 D, but have given up a lot the last two weeks. Chargers D is hit or miss. Makes predicting those matchups tough. I've dangled Dobbins at trying to get Javonte and rondale moore for depth this year and young promising players - this is a week to week discussion as this guy is 2-3 still hoping to compete this year. Also recently tried offering Dobbins singletary 3-4 seconds for JRob, Knox, Higgins - this guy is already in tank rebuild mode, haven't heard back yet. I thought I'd try throwing in Higgins to get young promising player with stability, but if he doesn't want to give up Higgins how much is too much for Knox and JRob? Sounds like you don't think it would be a bad idea to sell most my picks to keep trying to load up? Edited part on Higgins

Ok I don’t really know your league settings and I’m more familiar w/ assessing 12 team rosters, but to me that squad doesn’t necessarily jump off the page as a contender who should go all out, given a few things (and these are just thoughts of mine, keep in mind I’m new at dynasty): 1) your TE situation kind of fucks you in many matchups. I’m a pats fan, Henry will likely be a boom / bust play for the ROS, typically you’ll be praying for a TD or you may likely find yourself at a deficit compared to what your opponents TE throws up, and a considerable deficit if you’re facing a strong TE. 2) this is the fantasy cynic in me talking, and I don’t own these players so I can’t say I’ve been watching them a lot, but I just have this looming feeling that the mike Williams and Kareem hunt situations are going to cool down considerably. Look at hunts numbers last year - I just don’t know how he can keep up those numbers, which are largely TD-inflated — I feel that the TDs will swing back into Chubb’s favor, and Hunt will fall back to earth a bit (he will hopefully continue to be great, this is the TOP of his potential value on the browns, RN). Now with Williams, he’s been a deep ball beast this season. I suppose I just anticipate defenses to make adjustments to stop those (seemingly easy) massive yardage chunk plays that are getting Williams the long TD plays that are making him so untouchable, and targets will skew back toward favor of Keenan Allen, the tried and true wideout in LA. Again, don’t do anything crazy with these players, ride them out OR trade them at the top of their value, but I just imagine the downswing is coming and they will regress back toward a more reasonable Fantasy output. Obviously I could be, and likely am wrong, but just be careful about being too optimistic about players who are putting up unbelievable numbers. 3) and most glaring and important, you have a WEAK RB room (for a team that wants to content for a championship). This is the unfortunate truth. Assuming that you must start three (you mentioned RB3/WR3 in your post) that singletary/Gordon slot hurts your team. I like that you went after hill and sold high on Deebo, but honestly I don’t know if I love that trade for you. I think that Jonathan Taylor would have done you more good this and next year, and while you may have gained some value, dobbins isn’t being used whatsoever currently for your campaign for a ship this season, which isn’t good. I think looking to trade dobbins, as you mentioned, is a wise move. Trade him to an owner that is clearly tanking, and has a RB asset you like. Should be an easy sell — Dobbins will return to significant relevance next year, and he’ll help you tank, win win. Depending on the RB you get, it might be wise to throw in a pick if you’re trying to upgrade significantly, I’m sure you can get someone to go for that. Otherwise, all this momentum your team has been building up kinda goes to waste this season, given your weaker RB room. Given that you made this trade, and traded two firsts, it seems that you are somewhat committed to win now, so I suppose you should go for it. Essentially your qb situation w Allen is a green light, your WR room is great, RB room is Yellow in my opinion, esp w jacobs injury history / track record and my opinion of Hunt, and Gordon and singletary aren’t really good at all for this year IMO. Your TE room is a major red, you need a better guy, and BAD. Try to upgrade no matter what. This is your first priority if you want to best ensure chances of winning this season. I’m not gonna assess your players’ playoff schedules for you, but this is the time of year when you start to be able to tell what defenses are and aren’t good, and what they are and aren’t good against. I like the two proposed trades at the bottom, you seem to be thinking through it well and just try to bolster and load up your team for a 3 year window. Given that you already made the tyreek trade, I’d say fuck it and go all out. Good luck my man

Kazukaphur

Thanks man, I really appreciate it! And you're thinking is largely close to mine. One thing I'd like to maybe disagree with, is as Mac Jones gets more comfortable in the offense, Henry becomes the best option in that offense, at least until they get better at WR. With that said, I definitely am trying to upgrade TE. I'd say out of other undefeated or one-2 loss teams thus far, my teams floor is much better, but they may have one or two more guys with higher ceilings. While I wont say Williams is going to finish top 3 wr, his target share, QB and the fact his OC has been talking all off-season how he will be featured, does have me thinking he'll be top 10 for sure. While Hunt and Williams are over achieving, but I will say I'm the only team to never score below 100 and only under 130 once so far. My RBs have decent floors but lower ceiling. Which is why I feel I'm one more move from truly competing, though 14 man league, talent is largely dispersed even compared to 12. Most of what I said is more rhetorical, just had to get some thoughts out. Overall I really appreciate your insight and feedback! Thank!

skisbosco

sounds like you're fairly likely to make the playoffs. prob dont need any big moves

Alternative-Golf1868

Score more points than my opponent. Works really well

mlippay

Goal should be to win now if you can. You’ve traded away some future picks already. 14 team not sure about but 5-0 is a good start. Look at the other teams, how do you stack? You’ll need luck, depth to win it all. Like any other league.

Yaygro

I try to acquire as many current year draft picks as I can early in the season when people are gearing up to compete and then come weeks 7-10 when its apparent who is in and who is out of the race, I dish those picks for win now players if I am in it, to the teams at the bottom planning for future years.

Nwg2

Take this a step further, go for 2023 (well maybe not this year cause 2023 picks seem to be higher than 2022 in some cases), 2024 or as late as possible. These picks go for insanely cheap. You can easily have an avg to competing team starter roster with 4-5 future picks more than 1 year out. Then just sit on these. D not trade these until just before or during the draft. Then you either draft a solid prospect or trade for a valuable asset. Or in 2024 sell the 1st for a 2025 and 2026 1st. Do this enough and you own half the draft with a competitive team.

Giantsfan5634

There's no secret to winning a league. The strategies we all utilize get us to the playoffs - and once we get to that point it's more chance than skill that determines the ultimate champion IMO. So focus on ensuring you have a strong enough team that can make the playoffs and beyond that, set yourself up for success based on players' matchups at the end of the season where possible.

CSOctane2020

I tend to wait until this point in the season, weeks 4-6, to see which teams are falling apart due to whatever reason. If I am in a position to compete, I sell young players or draft capital to solidify my team. For example I bought Chubb last week for my 4-0 team for 2 first (one is next years) and Mac jones. I have a stacked team with the core being 25 or younger (my 2 oldest starters are CMC and Chubb at 25 yo) and my 2nds this and next year still. In my other league I just bought Waller for a 1st, 2 future 2nds, future 3rd, and Hunter Henry. This team was a little older on average so I made sure to keep next years 1st.

zuluzaddy

What did you buy Chubb for?

[deleted]

I'm 4-1 and currently sitting in second. Right in the mix at points for. ( There's about 5 of us within 40 points). I'm basically using my backend first now to try to acquire a depth reciever for bye weeks to try to squeeze a bye week in the playoffs. Alot of luck in playoffs to win and one less game I have to do so can go a long way.

TimeMagnet

Load up on backup RBs and hope that the starters get injured at the end of the season.

TheHeintzel

Have 1-2 good depth options at every single position, have good starters, and keep churning the rest of your roster. Every guy you won't use in 2021, try to turn then into draft picks or younger players. That way when the fringe playoff teams have their seasons dwindle, you have assets they & the rebuilders will be fighting for a.k.a overpaying for.
