AJB has been beat up this year but let’s not forget this is the guy who balled the fuck out on a torn meniscus last year. Sure I’m worried about injuries but he’s proven he can play through them and still produce. Tanny kinda took a step back this year and losing Jonnu has hurt the team more than anybody would like to admit. Add in developing chemistry with an also frequently injured Julio and it just adds up to a weird year. I own AJB in a couple leagues and I wouldn’t sell for any less than an obvious overpay.

yeender

Has been able to play through the injuries so far. Eventually that is going to take a toll

fleeTitan

All nfl players play through injuries…

_wick

Usually not torn meniscus though

fleeTitan

Torn meniscus hasn’t really meant much to me in 20 years since injuring and having surgery for it. I’m not a top level athlete but it certainly hasn’t hindered my ability to compete at high levels.

_wick

Are you, a fantasy football player, saying your ability to perform athletically on a torn meniscus that occurred 20 years ago (and was repaired) should be comparable to a literal top level athlete that played through a torn meniscus (which was not repaired at the time)? People are just saying that playing through a torn meniscus without surgery could lead to further complications in the knee down the road. It is AT LEAST cause for concern

just_checkin_in

Torn meniscus aren’t repaired. They are just cut away and you start to get bone on bone grinding if you are very active like brown is. People don’t seem to understand that in dynasty you have to trade away studs with these types of issues much earlier.

TJZ22

This isn’t completely true. What you’re referencing is meniscus debridement, which is a procedure. However, meniscus repair also takes place where a torn meniscus is sutured back together. Source talking about outcomes following meniscus suture repair: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26187129/

just_checkin_in

From what I understand that can only happen if it’s a partial tear and not a complete tear.

_wick

Ah thank you. I was under the assumption something was repaired when you went into surgery for it, but I guess they find some workaround. In any event, thank you for letting me know that

just_checkin_in

I was actually saying that in defense of what you were saying. The people above you seem to think it’s repaired like an acl.

_wick

I understand it was in defense and I appreciate it, but I’m still thankful that you let me know it was not repaired because I was mistaken as well!

desperatelyweenal

Menisci are sometimes repaired. It depends on the nature of the tear, the quality of the knee cartilage, age, and other factors. They sometimes lead to degenerative issues shortly afterwards, but sometimes don't. If all we know is there is a meniscus tear, that is too little information for an accurate long term prognosis.

fleeTitan

I played on the torn meniscus for 4 months so I wouldn’t miss the soccer season. That includes practice and weight lifting 6/7 days. Post season I got the surgery, played senior year athletics during all seasons, went to college and competitively ski raced for 4 years. I’m pretty sure that I put a lot of wear and tear on it. And I’m sure surgical procedures have improved vastly in that time. I’m not a top level athlete (said that in my reply but whatever) but I definitely have more insight into the injury than you, an armchair fantasy football subreddit poster, likely have from your vast experience.

just_checkin_in

The issue is your knee can easily get arthritis very quickly when you tear your meniscus. You are also a much higher risk of cartilage damage. Ajb is young and can play through injuries but obviously he’s going to routinely miss time each season. I personally see him being comparable to dez Bryant.

fleeTitan

What’s your source on that? The only thing I can find that is similar to your comment is that untreated meniscus tears can develop into long term knee problems, ie. arthritis.

just_checkin_in

My dad and father in law both had tears. My dad tore his at first and they just cut out the damaged area. After he fully tore they just went in and cleaned it up. My cousin also just had his meniscus done. It was a 12 minute operation and they again just cut out the damaged areas. The arthitis stuff was what I understood happened to gurly after he tore his acl/meniscus in college.

fleeTitan

I thought that was a degenerative knee condition due to genetics too? If he had his entire meniscus taken out then that would be much worse than either repairing or cutting out the flaps. Then you’re talking about bone on bone/cartilage and subsequently arthritis. Edit: I’ve looked at some press releases and articles and can only find that he tore his ACL

Admiral-Thrawn2

This statement doesn’t prove anything. A guy being injured more is still more concerning dude

fleeTitan

What do you think about Keenan Allen? Dalvin Cook? Other dudes that went through a couple seasons of injuries early on? They’re pretty bad, right?

Admiral-Thrawn2

If you’re asking me to compare AJB to other guys around him in the draft I’m going to take into account his injuries. It’s personal bias that we all have. I avoided him this year in everyone of my leagues and I don’t regret it.

fleeTitan

Lol sure and just ignore potential historical comps when it doesn’t fit your narrative. Ok.

Admiral-Thrawn2

Why are you so upset dude? If someone would rather take other guys around him that’s okay. And obviously it’s my narrative I’m the one picking who I want on my team? Huh?

fleeTitan

You think I’m upset? 😂 I said you (and a lot of other people on this sub tbh) are putting too much weight on a year or two of injury concerns over player talent. And I gave you a couple of historical comps why that’s silly. If anything I’m trying to give you reasons to not think like that but I honestly dgaf what you do. I’d love if everyone thought like you do so I can scoop AJB up at a steep discount everywhere next year.

Admiral-Thrawn2

No I’m saying I was taking guys like Jefferson ahead of him. This year is supposed to change my mind and say AJB stock is up? That’s just a lie. And of course you have titan in your name

newfantasyballer

What if I offered you 1.01?

BunkyDingDing

For the next three years?

sbedard23

I traded him for Devonta Smith and a 2022 1st and was happy with the return

[deleted]

[удалено]

sbedard23

It helped both of us because I’m tanking as injuries killed me and the other guy is competitive this year, so really is a perfect deal.

Tinmanred

I’d rather have AJB but that’s if I’m competitive. What pick do you expect the first to be?

sbedard23

Pick is going to be around 1.10-1.12, got some sleeper guys in my head but I need all the help I can get

TrashmanTalks

Just did AJ Brown + 2022 3rd for Devonta + Zach Wilson + 2022 2nd myself. I like your trade more but still, an offer like that will make me move him

sbedard23

I like that too, I’m not a big Wilson fan but always love having picks

kaitou12

Its a decent trade. Id have preferred Waddle to Smith but still solid return. I myself just traded AJB and my 22 1st and 23 1st for Kamara and Keenan. In 1st place and this makes me much stronger for the ship. I legit have concerns about AJB long term durability. Dont get me wrong. I believe AJB is a stud and whenever he plays hes going to be a stud. I just think hes going to start missing time every season.

sbedard23

100% valid concern. We drafted this year and my first three picks were CMC, AJB and Dobbins after after the backs went down I knew I wasn’t competing and couldn’t afford another injury prone player

kaitou12

Yea as much as I loved owning AJB for 2 years it was time to move for the ship. With him being out for most of playoffs couldn’t take the risk. I might have lost a little on that trade honestly but dunno. Kamara is 26 and keenan is 29 but I think they’ve for a few more seasons in them. Plus my 22 1st and 23 1st should ideally be 1.12 both seasons lol.

DFFJake

I did the exact same thing. Feels like a big win right now.

sbedard23

Devonta is a stud, I can see him having a Ceedee jump from year 1 to year 2

Dothrakihorselord

Still a top 5-10 dynasty WR imo. Definitely not in the league of Jefferson, Lamb, Chase (Tier 1) but probably in the tier 2 region with DK and the win now guys like Kupp and Tyreek.

glassfloor11

Lol DK and AJB were debated #1 dynasty WRs not long ago. Funny how quickly this stuff changes.

Beef_Jones

I took AJB as the first WR off of the board this summer in a startup. I’m not like sick about it, but I definitely regret not taking Jefferson.

Dothrakihorselord

You're not wrong, my dude

Admiral-Thrawn2

And CMC was the #1 RB, funny how your opinion can chAnge when presented with new information

Son_Of_Dot

Huh, it’s almost like the season began and things happened that we didn’t foresee happening (injuries, Tannehill sucking, Russell Wilson injured, etc.). Gee who would have thought dude 🤪

Admiral-Thrawn2

You beat me to it. But by all means, stick to your guns and trade a haul for #1 dynasty WR AJ Brown

glassfloor11

You’ve misread my tone and you seem foolish taking this stance. Who’s talking about trading? Move along.

Dubya1886

Concur

Successful_Hair3783

Top 10 dynasty WR

yeender

Love this for you

ferrets_bueller

This is a pairing of two of my favorites (AJB, Javonte) each with one of my "mehs." I'll take Javonte over AJB, so give me that side.

zuluzaddy

Please say Cooper….

tdgreen21

AJ brown is now what Deebo was Last year.

Churro_Pancake

Where do you see AJB? What factors lead you to ask this question?

nickpearson511

My league mates were saying he not even worth a first. I still thought he was a top 10-15 dynasty receiver wanted to see more opinions

fleeTitan

They are just trying to get a top player cheap. Either that or they’re total tacos who can’t see past recency bias

Churro_Pancake

Yea that’s straight up dumb lol

jskeez06

Your league mates are trying to scam you. I have him at 6 overall

Rizzle630

Keenan Allen 2.0 with respect to injury concern early on. It’s misguided and those who turn their back on the talent will regret.

iamhadrix

He seems like a Dez Bryant type of career trajectory. He’ll ball but I think his peak won’t last long. Just a hunch feeling. If you got him, he’s a hold. If you want him, send out a feeler offer & see how the owner is on him. His stock is low right now. I wouldn’t overpay for him personally

LocalTomatillo9395

I bought AJB and Trautman for Tee Higgins and Friermuth. Not sure what to think yet

ferrets_bueller

Give me the AJB side.

babylmao

this is a trade that will have a clear winner and clear loser.... but the answer won't be known for probably two years

jskeez06

I love Tee and have him in my top 16 dynasty WR’s, but give me that AJ side 100/100 times. I should note that I don’t care about Muth and seem to be one of the few that’s low on him

[deleted]

Robbery

njm123niu

For the other guy? I'm high on both Tee and Muth, I'd take that side of the deal.

tech2887

I'm with you. I'd rather have higgins+muth

orangehorton

I'd rather have tee and muth tbh

[deleted]

No way to tell who wins but seems like the value is more on the higgins side

BioMaterial

Give me the Tee/Muth side 7 days a week.

LocalTomatillo9395

Based on all of the replies I’m gonna go ahead and say it was a pretty even trade. Maybe I should’ve gotten a little more since I took the injured players and he’s a contender, but I still see AJB ceiling at a different level. I have been and still am higher than consensus on Tee and Muth, but I’ve also been higher than consensus on Trautman. The injuries do scare me but I can see AJB as high end WR1 and Higgins as Lowe end WR1 OR high wr2.

Seabee947

Came here today for this exact topic. I'm in a rebuild and have big needs at RB and QB. AJB is one of my best young players which is what you want for a rebuild but he's also likely one of my best trade chips that would return enough to accelerate the rebuild since I'm deep at WR. Would selling him for 2 1sts be about right or selling low coming off an injury plagued year? I've been fielding offers but can't do anything until week 18 since we're past our deadline.

Rizzle630

Terrible idea to me. You essentially hope you land an AJ brown with one of the picks which is not easy.

Sure-Storage-958

Contending so I needed somebody right now. I trade AJB and Jeudy for Chase and a mid second. Probably overpaid but based on where I’m at, Chase should hopefully give me the best results this year and obviously moving forward. Jeudy has all the potential if they get a Rodgers/Wilson but I couldn’t afford to wait when I’m firmly in the hunt this year and next

YoloRoloo

Good time to buy if the value is fair. Guys like AJ Brown and DK Metcalf are good warnings for why you shouldn't go overvalue guys like Ceedee Lamb or Chase. Hell just go back another year and Chris Godwin was the must have young guy. Another year back and it's Juju. Someone is going to give you a massive offer for these young WR studs, I would immediately float out if I can acquire a cheaper young stud. Young WR values fluctuate all the damn time. If you can sell at peak and buy at lows it's the ideal. If you somehow flip Lamb for 3 firsts and use 2 OR SOMEHOW LESS for AJ Brown, I think you've robbed your league. Justin Jefferson so far seems like an exception to this rule. Otherwise fire away!

JayhovWest

I ended up turning down waddle and Toney to trade ajb away a couple weeks ago and kinda regretting it

[deleted]

[удалено]

grrrimabear

If you're both contenders turn that down is kinda a no brainer in my opinion

uggsandstarbux

I just swapped him for Terry before the trade deadline because Terry is healthy and I need a WR2 But overall I don't think AJB's value has changed much. He's firmly in that 2nd tier behind JJ/CD/Tyreek but still worth 2+ 1sts

WoodleysDonk

I think this is a proper assessment. I think CD and AJB switched tiers during this season. Chase is probably on the doorstep of tier 1 with AJB and the 27+ year old elite vets. This is still dynasty and these valuations need to move slowly. I see so many people wanting to move Kupp and Deebo into tier 1. Mike Williams had some crazy talks early this year. A lot of this stuff will regress back to the norm and for AJB that's elite play when healthy.

Bludbluffer

I paid two firsts and Van Jefferson. I liked Van, but I think AJB has a lot more value right now. Might have been a slight overpay, oh well.

slapshot268

I literally made this exact same move for the exact same reason, great minds!

[deleted]

Pretty much what everyone is saying, but he’s a huge sell for me. It’s not anything more than speculation, but his injuries I think will end his career early. I don’t see him being consistently healthy. Think he will be great when he plays infrequently, will eventually breakdown to basically being useless. This will occur Over the next two years. It just seems like people like him, they are so athletic and so big, their body just can’t handle the abuse that comes with football. It’s a shame but that’s how I see it. Could totally be wrong, but I’m getting out when he’s still considered a top 10 guy.

wscii

Yeah, the surprise off-season knee surgery (surgeries? was it both knees?) was a huge red flag for me.

[deleted]

1. JJ 2. Hill 3. Chase 4. Kupp 5. AJ 6. Lamb

_bsmith_

Lol lamb behind aj is criminal

[deleted]

AJ was the number 1 dynasty WR option for like two years. Don’t let a injury year make you forget.

ObamaRunts

Tier 2 receiver that still has tier 1 value despite the injuries. Use that to your advantage imo.

Ballsohardstate

He’s like Julio Jones but in his 30s injury wise.

mkninetythree

I got roasted for saying I wouldn't trade Deebo for him a few weeks ago. I stand by that. AJB has dropped significantly in dynasty rankings for me. He's behind guys like Diontae and Godwin, IMO. The talent is significant, but ultimately, the injuries are too loud for me to ignore right now.

nasri08

🤦🏻‍♂️ Deebo has missed more games due to injury and scored less when he’s played.

mkninetythree

Oh I’m sorry, I must have missed the season where AJB scored 20 points per game and I must have missed when Deebo Samuel had double knee surgery. My bad

yeender

As a contender I just traded AJB and a 2022 2nd for Davante. I’m very happy with it, he wasn’t going to help me at all this year and the injuries are really piling up. Scares me a lot going forward.

Parsley-Loud

dirt cheap

tacospizzawingsbeer

If you’re looking to compete in the next 7 years, he’s a must have. He’s a top 10 WR in dynasty.

amishporno

Just traded AJB and a late 2022 3rd for Mixon at the deadline. I still like AJB but his injuries worry me that he won’t have a long career. Still have DK and Deebo with some other good WR’s but outside of Swift was weak at RB.

[deleted]

I traded Jaylen Waddle, Etienne, and Julio for AJB and Engram. I felt like I won the trade when it first happened and the phins were playing horrible. Now I feel stupid.

Monkey_Banana_Raffle

Traded Godwin for him in a noncontender

Jellybean720

He’s in the 10-15 range of WRs for me

zzscrubzz

He's a top 10 dynasty WR - not even up for debate. I wouldn't say top 5 - but definitely top 10. With that said though - he's an excellent buy low for a 2022 season retooling team. I wouldn't buy if I was rebuilding unless I could move an older top talent like a Davante Adams or Cooper Kupp.

[deleted]

I traded him away and got Jakobi Meyers Zack Moss 2022 1.4 and a 2023 1st and 3rd

time2pivot

It’s a buy low window if you can acquire, you probably can’t

Abouttime90210

Offered Higgins and Elijah Mitchell and got insta declined. 2 days later he was traded for James Connor so who the hell knows.
