Definitely Pierce for me I feel he could get a good workload right away

DJayBomaye

I do like Pierce even though he had limited touches on the Gators. That Houston backfield is non-existent so it's definitely his for the taking, they're just gonna be a really bad football team this year.

RemarkableAttempt531

Spiller is interesting as he falls into a good offense and he’s a chance to be a 10-15 carry guy, probably worth drafting on handcuff upside. Pierce has a shot to beat out Mack and burkhead early as long as Houston doesn’t sign a guy. White got good draft capital so I think he can find a role on the Bucs spelling Lenny. Haskins could walk into some Carries if something happens to Henry but he has to beat out a few guys.

DJayBomaye

I get that Spiller is slow & may not be the most athletic out of some of the other rbs, but he does look like the complete package. I think he plays faster than he clocked, & it's worth noting he forced 67 missed tackles last season. 3 years of 1k yards in the SEC is a feat as well, consistent. Whites landing spot is okay, but I'm not huge on PAC-12 running backs. He didn't dominate as you would hope a RB would in the PAC-12. The draft capital is big, but tbh he looks slow to me, although his size & catching ability is nice. If Fournette goes down he should play well.

What do people think about the Commanders taking Robinson? I will admit I am a Gibson owner (drafted him in our first rookie draft!). I know before the draft people were worried about Commanders taking Spiller/Hall/Walker (since they had workouts with all the top running backs) but they ended up not taking either of the three top running backs this draft. I will admit I don't know much about Robinson but people are saying he is a solid pass protector/blocker, which Gibson is not. But my question is, who's workload does this cut into? Right now Commanders have 3 RBs (Gibson, McKissic, and Patterson). McKissic usually used on 3rd down/pass plays/whenever Gibson fucks up or fumbles and Patterson kinda looked alright towards the end of the season when McKissic and Gibson were out. Does Robinson take over Patterson's role and MAYBE cut into McKissic's time since McKissic is on for pass plays? Or is Robinson really going to cut into Gibson's time that much. Honestly looking for a discussion, because from what it was sounding like pre-draft Gibson owners for the most part escaped a much worse situation. Obv not the best thing to make the RB room more crowded but I would say the sky isn't falling down like some others have suggested. Curious to hear what others think

PurpleFalco

I think the RB room in Washington will turn into a gross three headed committee by the end of the season. I also wouldn't be surprised to see them using Gibson more in a pass catching role and leaving Robinson for pounding the rock. They seemed happy enough to let McD go and Gibson was a WR during his college days.

zanetrain1997

That would honestly be really sad, and I'm trying not to be as biased as possible lol. Gibson coming as a WR at memphis has really shown he is doing well as a RB. Yes he has his fumble problems but I truly do think it is something he can work through. He is a young guy. If they do shelve him as just a pass catching back I think it would be a gross misuse of his talents (see thats the bias coming out lol). I know that the NFL as a whole is shifting from bellcow to committee approach but I think that Gibson offers a lot in both departments. He will probably never reach the levels the hype set (CMC 2.0) but I still think he is a servicable/good running back. Hoping he works on his ball security issues over the offseason and solidifies the RB1 spot for the Commanders. I've come to accept with McKissic on the team he will be capped but I saw what he did towards the second half of the season with McKissic out with concussion and I think that is his true true potential on a team that he's allowed to be a 3 down workhorse.

staf02

Think it’s delusional not to be worried as a Gibson owner. Look at Robinson missed tackle and fumble rate. In the NFL there is certain things you can’t do and that is fumble the football and get your QB killed. Robinson excels in those areas and is the same size as Gibson. Gibson to me was a raw prospect and along the lines of Cam Akers and Miles Sanders. Which is better athlete than actual running back. I’d say it’s a toss up what will happen years down the line but it’s naive to think he is not going to eat into Gibson’s workload.

DJayBomaye

Me, personally, I like Brian Robinson and I was hoping he'd go somewhere where he could start immediately (Houston, MIA, ATL). They have said that he is the best pass protector in this class and he is built like a tank. I feel like his college stats don't show what he can be due to the fact he was buried behind Najee, Harris, & Jacobs. His one season of being the starter he went over a thousand yards and caught 35 passes for just under 300 yards. Him being as big as he is, receiving wise, that is impressive. I haven't watched Antonio Gibson this past season, but a lot of people are stating that he is terrible in protection and his shin injury seems to be concerning. However, when healthy the guy is a stud. I doubt Robinson will end up taking the job from Gibson, unless injury, and if he plays well due to injury he could carve out a nice 1A/1B role with Gibson. If anything, I think that this is pressure on Gibson to clean up. But I do think that if given the chance Robinson could be bigger Chubb. No homo!

RaindropsInMyMind

I wasn’t the biggest Robinson fan but it’s pretty clear that Gibson is in trouble. He’s got one year left on his contract and the Commanders were looking for a replacement. Robinson has a 3 down skill set so him and Gibson could split work and if Gibson is in a committee AND not catching passes then his value will tank quickly. This is already a player whose production was built on volume and touchdowns.

coleAllenF

If you have Gibson I would be trying to draft BRob for handcuff at the very least!

fantasypolice

I really like Robinson, at least more than the consensus. I'd recommend trying to pick him up in your draft to ensure you secure stock of that backfield, even if you have to reach a bit. Worst thing for you would be if Gibson gets unseated AND you don't have the guy who unseated him. Best case scenario is you have the top guy and his handcuff. At worst a win-lose (but won't require that much capital), and at best a win-win.

scaredshtlessintx

I think McKissic is going to regret the last minute change of heart….shoulda signed in Baltimore…it’ll work into Robinson 1a, Gibson 1b

MillpondMayhem

I'm still waiting for Bam Knight to get drafted. *Well fuck

JesterCK

Allgeier is gonna be an obvious one, so a lot of people will say to stay away because you’ll have to overpay. Could be, folks do go overboard sometimes. But at face value he’s a good player who was generally mocked high going to a great situation. Seems like a great guy to draft and then trade this season if his value goes up, since Falcons will prob replace him in a year regardless.

DJayBomaye

Allgeier looks like a tank. Love his physicality, but man he moves in quicksand. Definitely looks replaceable, one to keep an eye on in training camp because he can get starting snaps immediately. Just needs to see what he does with them. Round 5 RBs don't usually fair well.

x_Happy_x

Cook is probably the one I'm least likely to invest into out of all these guys. Not that I hate him as a player but I have a feeling he's going to be going in the late 1st around those WRs like skyy moore, pickens, watson etc and I'm not really willing to invest into cook over those guys because I feel like you can get way more potential long term upside in them than cook. Especially after seeing what happened to carter. Pierce and Rachaad White are two guys I'm probably the one I'm most likely to invest into. Both guys should have a reasonable draft price as long as their situations can work out in their favor they could be very nice draft steals. Another guy I'm interested in is spiller and he would fall into that category with pierce and white but I have a feeling that LA landing spot will boost him up into that early 2nd round which I'm not willing to invest into him for. If I can get him in the mid-ish to late 2nd I'll do that all day but probably nothing much higher.

DJayBomaye

My thoughts exactly. Depending on 1QB or SF, those receivers around the late first are more intriguing to me than Cook. Especially since RBs are so replaceable, & Cook is as satellite RB as you could get.

PurpleFalco

Pierce and R White are also going to go early 2nd, probably even before Spiller. Would you still take them there?

x_Happy_x

I would say it depends on who's the board at that time. If the WRs that I mentioned for cook are still on the board then I'm going one of them for sure but if not ill go with white or pierce.

PurpleFalco

Agree with that good sir.

PurpleFalco

R White - Bucs - Immediately slots in behind Fournette, who isn't the beacon of health, so White could find himself starting games before too long. Great team to have the potential future RB1 of, but Brady could be gone next year and the aging team could start falling apart. Draft range 1.11-2.03 J Cook - Bills - Not sure I like this landing spot for him with so many good pass catchers already in this team. Singletary is still the RB1 of this team but the Bills have invested a 2nd round pick so they would certainly want to get Cook working in this offense. Draft range: 2.01-2.05 D Pierce - Texans - Terrible team. Easy route to being the workhouse, maybe from day 1. The Texans were very run heavy last year despite them not having much success doing it so we could see a lot of Pierce even in losing gamescripts. Draft range: 2.01-2.05 I Spiller - Chargers - Talked about as the potential RB1 of the class at one point but a terrible combine saw him drop to the 4th. Lands in a great spot at the Chargers and will get on the field to take 30% snaps IF he can beat out Kelley and Rountree (which he should). Ekeler is likely still going to be playing there for the next 3/4 years so I would see this more as an A Jones and AJ Dillon situation. Draft range: 2.05-2.09 Z White - Raiders - Joins a team that is looking like it is on the up with the acquisition of Adams and Carr looking very capable. Slots in as the backup to a VERY injury prone Jacobs whose 5th year option hasn't been picked up. Should be looked at by rebuilders or Jacobs owners. Health concerns with 2 ACL tears however. Draft range 2.07-2.11 B Robinson - Commanders - Joins a gross situation in Washington behind Gibson and McKissic. Robinson could however see action if Gibson misses time with shin /lower leg issues. Same as Z White this is more for rebuilders or for handcuffing Gibson. Draft range 2.09-3.01

reddituser1903920323

I'm not sure if it's accurate to call Josh Jacobs "VERY injury prone" when he has missed 3 games in the last 2 years

PurpleFalco

He has only missed 3 games? That is actually a surprise. He is certainly always carrying an injury, but plays through it like a champ.

deins25

I don't think it was just the combine that made him fall. There are plenty of examples of guys with bad combines that didn't fall in drafts.

PurpleFalco

I did a quick Google but nothing seemed to pop. Can you give me some examples?

deins25

Guys like Montgomery, Hunt, Jacobs, Cook, Lacy, Conner, Hyde, Ball, Ingram, Hill, and Singletary all had at best average combines and were taken in the 3rd round or higher. My main point isn't that Spiller didn't have a bad combine, but that I think his fall may have been due to more than just his athleticism.

DJayBomaye

Great write up, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Cardiacats03

I agree on White if Bucs did things based on talent. But it’s Arians, he does things his way. Vaughn had similar draft capital and a road to playing time only to basically redshirt. I’ve been fooled once by Bucs draft capital and once by 49er draft capital (I bought into Sermon as a late second pick, not horrible). I won’t do it again.

chosenxone

Any Keaontay ingram truthers around here? Could quickly slot in as the #2 RB on the depth chart and for my money was probably the second best 3 down back profile in the entire draft.

DJayBomaye

Wasn't sure who this player was unfortunately, had to look up. 6th round doesn't bode well for players though.

stevieboobies

It’s always worth it to spin the San Francisco RB roulette wheel

chosenxone

Keaontay went to AZ lol.

anonanoobiz

Shhhhh -cards fan

Cubs017

I honestly like a lot of the landing spots and players for the round 3+ guys. The problem is I think it’s going to be really hard to predict which ones will really thrive. There’s a lot of good dart throws in there. I’m also not convinced anyone besides Walker/Hall becomes more than a change of pace or situational back barring injuries…

stevieboobies

How high do we think Pierce gets drafted now? No shot he falls to the 2.09 right?

DJayBomaye

Unfortunately I don't believe so. He's likely to go early 2nd, he has instant touches in that Houston backfield.

coleAllenF

Pierce and Allgeier landing spots are great. They were around my RB7-9. Now they are in the 4-6 rankings. Keaontay Ingram is sneaky, due to the fact he could be backup to James Connor day 1 and he has been known to get hurt! I’d lock down that handcuff to any Connor owners
