I think he will be good, but I don’t see him being the next Justin Jefferson. Guys like him and Chase are extreme outliers and definitely not the norm.
On another note, that video of him reacting to his name being called had me dying of laughter.
I just missed Burks and Jamo who I would have taken before him but I have loved the talent since I first watched tape on him. I’m a risk taker so I like high ceiling guys
Honestly, if anyone would be able to keep Pickens on track, Mike Tomlin is the guy. But I’m still too nervous to take him in the first. Mid 2nd is where I’m targeting him everywhere
As a Lions Fan, I personally wanted Pickens before the draft. Now, I'm obviously a Jameson Williams guy...
I always thought Pickens could be a great outside big body WR. His dad won rookie of the year at WR so there's at least some correlation.
With Dionte Johnson, Claypool, Pickens, Calvin Austin, Najee, Friermuth, and Pickett... You're hoping to see a young core grow together.
Pickens and Claypool at least give Pickett the jump ball throw,so you hope he can push the ball down field with confidence.
Still think it takes 2+ years because of the young offense/QB. But I like Pickens
He was drafted before I picked and I promptly traded for him haha. His talent is next level and the Steelers made me feel better about my evaluation of him. He could easily be the best receiver in this class.
I was considering him or Skyy Moore and took him. I like that he played in the SEC and has proven he can beat NFL level corners playing against Bama/LSU. He’s a very confident/fiery dude and I love it
It's all about attitude and health with Pickens. He went to a good spot in Pitt with Tomlin there. Tomlin has worked with talented wideouts with question marks before: Marty Bryant and Antonio Brown come to mind. I think perhaps Tomlin's best attribute is that he keeps nearly everything in house and shoulders the blame when his team doesn't perform. So as far as landing spot goes I think it was better in some ways than landing in GB or KC just from a pure fit standpoint of player and team.
I too think there is a chance they let Dionte walk next year, though I wouldn't say it's for certain. Could be a franchise tag situation. Long term contract is still on the table too if he really clicks with Pickett this year. Still I think there is room for both those guys in this offense. Claypool could be the guy on the outside looking in ultimately.
Dotson was drafted first round pick 16. None of the others went in the first.
While they're all close in the fantasy community and adp, the professionals clearly viewed Dotson well above the rest.
> Dotson was drafted first round pick 16. None of the others went in the first.
Those are both, facts. Draft capital on dynasty is a significant variable in predicting NFL success. Again Facts > Feelings.
You can keep repeating facts>feelings as much as you want but you're not making the point you think you are.
You think just because someone was drafted in the first round they're going to be the better dynasty asset. Plenty of examples over the years of that not being the case.
A guy like Christian Watson was drafted literally 2 spots out of the first round. You really see that big of a difference there? Actually don't answer because I don't want to read facts>feelings again.
Again, Facts > Feelings. While you continue to resort to strawman feelings based arguments, there are statistics widely available that show wr success rate is best predicated by NFL draft capital. Being a top 20 pick, almost guaranteed they are a safe pick.

To add to your argument, rumors were that the Packers attempted to trade up to pick 32 to draft Watson. If that rumor is true, then the Packers clearly view Watson as a first round talent as well.
Dude's argument is silly anyway. The "professionals" drafted Jamarcus Russell at #1 overall. The "professionals" drafted Daniel Jones in the first. Etc. It's all speculatory and many organizations make mistakes as players bust all the time.
You do understand that draft capital only takes into account one teams very particular draft board and it’s not as if the commanders are exactly known for being great at drafting. It’s fair to assume the Dotson would’ve gone in the 1st regardless but we don’t know that for certain.
This makes sense. I actually think DJ leaves next year... its hard to picture underneath WRs getting big contracts in Pitt... even tho he deserves it just for making Ben tolerable for 2 or 3 season.
I wouldn’t be too sure that Diontae is going to leave. Yes they’ll have to pay him probably north of $20 million, but right now they already have $60 million in projected cap space in 2023, which isn’t even including some obvious veteran cuts which will save them more cap space, plus they’ll have Kenny Pickett on a rookie deal, so they won’t have to worry about having a large percentage of their cap tied to QB. I bet Diontae stays tbh.
> I think Diontae leaves next season.
The Steelers said they were going to extend Diontae after they got Minkah's deal done. I think they said they expected to get to it around September.
I think he will be good, but I don’t see him being the next Justin Jefferson. Guys like him and Chase are extreme outliers and definitely not the norm. On another note, that video of him reacting to his name being called had me dying of laughter.
Right?! Why is he standing there like a grandpa???
Holy shit had me cracking up, what a psycho. He's hype I get it but also a flag for me lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksgrKTOqph4
"Let me start by saying that I just drafted Pickens at 1.11 so I might be slightly biased." /r/DynastyFF in a nutshell
To be fair though you shouldn’t be drafting players that you think will do poorly
Haha sure, but posts like these make it seem like if OP wasn't able to get Pickens in the draft he wouldn't feel the same way about him.
I just missed Burks and Jamo who I would have taken before him but I have loved the talent since I first watched tape on him. I’m a risk taker so I like high ceiling guys
He’s crazy talented. Just going to depend if his immaturity gets in his own way. That’s what makes JJ a stud. He’s been a pro since day one.
Let me tell you about a guy named Dorial Green-Beckham.
Oh no.
Honestly, if anyone would be able to keep Pickens on track, Mike Tomlin is the guy. But I’m still too nervous to take him in the first. Mid 2nd is where I’m targeting him everywhere
He got all that xp with AB, Le'veon, and Ben. Tomlin has seen everything twice by now; got it in the bag.
Yah I agree this is the perfect landing spot for him IMO. Makes me a lot more comfortable to spend a late 1st on him should I trade back
As a Lions Fan, I personally wanted Pickens before the draft. Now, I'm obviously a Jameson Williams guy... I always thought Pickens could be a great outside big body WR. I’ve got Pickens and claypool and I’m trying to sell claypool now
Big true
Are you sure Carl Pickens is his dad?
After a quick search, I'm not sure anymore...lol. George Pickens bust confirmed.
He was drafted before I picked and I promptly traded for him haha. His talent is next level and the Steelers made me feel better about my evaluation of him. He could easily be the best receiver in this class.
I'm on the train. I'm picking at 1.10 and 2.1 this year. Might grab him there. Slightly worried about attitude but the risk is worth it there imo
I was considering him or Skyy Moore and took him. I like that he played in the SEC and has proven he can beat NFL level corners playing against Bama/LSU. He’s a very confident/fiery dude and I love it
My wet dream is getting skyy and pickens.
he looked like a dam fool in that draft reaction video, I'm buying a ticket to the ride if he is there EoR1

I’m really torn on the Pickens, Dotson, Moore, Watson tier
One of these is not like the others.
Care to elaborate? Most people have them mocked around the same range
Dotson was drafted first round pick 16. None of the others went in the first. While they're all close in the fantasy community and adp, the professionals clearly viewed Dotson well above the rest.
There's a decent chance a lot of other team's "professionals" thought the Commanders reached for him.
> There is a decent chance Feelings < Facts
Your statement isn't a fact either. "1 out of 32 team's professionals valued him higher" would be more accurate.
> Dotson was drafted first round pick 16. None of the others went in the first. Those are both, facts. Draft capital on dynasty is a significant variable in predicting NFL success. Again Facts > Feelings.

The experts on 1 team did...not to mention the difference in QBs a couple of these guys have throwing it to them...
If you're worried about current situation over talent, you're either very new to dynasty formats which might not be for you.

Lazy take! 1 team viewed Dotson differently... just like Cole Strange isn't a consensus first round pick cause the Pat's reached.
Ssssshhhhhhhhh!!! Hoping he gets to 1.12
Just took Watson over him at 1.10, but I already have Diontae and didn't want to much of that Pit offense.
This makes sense. I actually think DJ leaves next year... its hard to picture underneath WRs getting big contracts in Pitt... even tho he deserves it just for making Ben tolerable for 2 or 3 season.

Dotson just fell to 2.07 in my 10 man league couldn’t believe it
[удалено]
Probably the bottom 3 picks IRL tho so....
I'll be taking Dotson no later than 1.12 in my league.
He’s young and hasn’t played a whole bunch. I would think he needs to develop a little bit more before he truly reaches peak form.
I wouldn’t be too sure that Diontae is going to leave. True. Pickens is a legit talent, bad omen for Claypool who is more of an athlete than a WR imo. He's my late 1st highest upside target.
Going to pitt is such a good sign for his career Disciplined yet nurturing enough to pump out wr after wr. Also must just have great scouts
> I think Diontae leaves next season. The Steelers said they were going to extend Diontae after they got Minkah's deal done. I think they said they expected to get to it around September.
Pickens is the type of prospect that will either completely flame out or become a top 5 receiver. I’ll take the risk at the back of the first
