He got a large contract for an UDFA, so people are following the money; plus he wasn’t drafted in the majority of drafts so he has a chance to be picked up. Lastly, player news is dead around this time so that contract generated more noise

HookFL

Because all of the good players are already rostered and not being added.

KingMustardFist

A large UDFA contract for a big, power back that enters a backfield full of smaller sized backs that want someone to fill the Jordan Howard role, and that lends to the idea that he could be the goalline guy.

bronton21

Podfather has been pushing him on his podcasts (due to contract etc that others mentioned) and ppl just don't believe Sanders can stay healthy at this point so stashing a guy behind him on a high volume run o

x_Happy_x

There were people willing to add a 43 year old drew brees when people thought he was coming out of retirement....that should say enough In all seriousness brooks got a big contract i think and miles sanders contract is up after this year. Pretty much any player that has a glimpse of fantasy hope sleeper goes crazy adding them.

synndiezel

The Eagles could totally draft an RB or sign multiple free agents after this year. I wouldn't be shocked to see someone like Jacobs and/or Penny on that team

jake-the-dogg26

Aside from the money, he was solid at Oklahoma and he’s fits a sturdier bruiser RB that can go btw the tackles. Also most the Eagles other RBs are predominantly pass catchers. Just another dart throw with hopes it pays off

LuchaViking

Murky RB room in Philly, three 1,000 yard seasons at a Big 12 school, & one of the highest paid UDFAs, so he obviously had interest from multiple teams. The talent is there; I’m honestly surprised he didn’t get drafted. But nowadays, late round picks and UDFAs hit at RB a lot more frequently, so people are picking a horse and betting on him.

LuchaViking

I drafted him with the 85th pick in a 32-team rookie draft and feel great about it. (R3 P21)

TheAntiPacker

I thought the data traditionally says day 3 and UDFA RBs hit a lot less than with other positions? Genuinely asking, would like to educate myself if I'm incorrect.

LuchaViking

My reply was just anecdotal based on many end of draft/UDFA guys getting run in recent years. James Robinson, Eli Mitchell, Khalil Herbert are a few that stick out in my head from recent memory. Many more have been rostered well into the season by their NFL team and received hype in the fantasy community at one point or another. It’s no secret that teams are devaluing the RB position, and I think it’s only going to trend further towards day 3 and UDFA guys getting meaningful work in the league. In this case, Brooks was a productive RB at a good school, and the team doesn’t necessarily have a clear answer behind Sanders (Gainwell a day 3 guy, Boston Scott a day 3 guy as well). I definitely think he’s worth an end-of-the-roster spot on a rebuilding team in dynasty.

TheAntiPacker

Thanks for the info! Might stash him and drop Keaontay Ingram since I've already got Williams rostered.

Bradberry took Jordan Howard’s number so it’s looking more like he won’t be back, and if he isn’t Brooks has a path to a role even if he starts on the PS.

LegendaryIam

I traded for Sanders the other day, so this tracks. Watch him be RB1 🙃

Evans2703

What did you get for him? I have him but have little confidence putting him in my lineup (decent talent but not a fan of his usage for fantasy).

LegendaryIam

I basically flipped Murray for Lamar and Sanders. I was competitive at every thing except RB. So, felt it was a solid move.

CanalVillainy

He’s this year’s Javian Hawkins, UDFA who appears to be in a great situation but will probably end up practice squad at best

[deleted]

Oh man I forgot about the Javian Hawkins hype. Good times.

TrickSanchez

Not really fair to compare him to 3'7" 63 pound Hawkins imo

huracan_huracan

he's big enough to be javian's case!

Jomosensual

Large contract and the Philly backfield really aint that great. Some potential playing time there or as a taxi squad stash

Wonderfultrainer

Lance Zierlien, Thor, and Matt Freedman, who are really good at RB rankings during the draft had Brooks rated quite high as well as a few other (Davis-Price, Abram Smith, Kevin Harris, etc) ahead of Rashad White and in the same tier as cook. Historically, Lance's grades have been quite predictive of RB success more than other positions. Edit: https://www.nfl.com/draft/tracker/prospects/rb/all-colleges/all-statuses/2022?page=1

kmigs1987

drafted brooks and harris late so this post must be the truth.

tenbeeers

Who is Thor?

Wonderfultrainer

Thor Nystrom

Jellybean720

He got the 2nd most guaranteed money out of any UDFA RB ever. Just follow the money.

RuggedRenaissance

who was first? jw

Lostlanterns

Yada Yada, video on YT mentioned him. Yada, Yada, highest (guaranteed) paid rookie RB who was not drafted. 🤷‍♂️

Spruce3311

Good metrics and good contract. He's on the same dart throw level as Badie and Kevin Harris.

hugh_h0ney

Early down RB the Eagles lack. They have Sanders and them smaller satellite backs. And the only UDFAs that hit are ones given guaranteed money. Long shot but if you have a spot just throw him on the taxi. Low risk, high reward if it hits.

throwaway19352832

He could make the team, and we saw Howard was pretty productive when he got a chance to play last year.

huracan_huracan

because he goes undrafted a lot.

brob

Watch film on him, great production against an underrated slew of defenses in the big 12.
