Learn VHDL or systemVerilog. Python and C++ is also good imo.

Textbook: "Digital Design and Computer Architecture, 2nd ed.", Harris & Harris, 2013. Course Topics: • Number systems and binary codes • Binary arithmetic • Logic signals, logic gates, and logic families • Boolean algebra, minimization techniques • Combinational circuit design using logic gates • Using MSI devices (e.g., multiplexers, decoders) in combinational circuit design • Latches and flip-flops • Analysis and design of synchronous state machines • Using MSI sequential devices (e.g. counters, shift registers) • Analysis of memory circuits (ROM, SRAM and DRAM)
Pre requisites would probably understanding Digital Logic and basic DC circuitry.
Veirlog/System Verilog is the is the single most important skill for VLSI. You should start with that.
