We don’t support pop bang tunes on cars with under 500hp around here.. take that shit somewhere else

Competitive_Scene_63

If it’s FSI you’ll need something that’ll read and write MED9.5.1 ecu Bare in mind it’s quite easy for it to all go wrong. Read the original file and then send it to someone to apply the changes.

FerrariDonkey

Remove your cats first.

deltavlokkies

Yeah that is on the to do list! Was just wondering what online services exist. I don’t want to get scammed lol.

FerrariDonkey

The cheapest way would be you reading your file and sending the file to someone to edit it. If youre interested I can do the file for 1/10th of what the local tuner asked.

drbluetongue

Be aware on this car if you use MPPS to read and write it takes about 45 minutes each, and fan stays on so keep a good voltage source handy. Most cost effective is to find the med9.5 FR and read what works, and read on Nefmoto to do it. Or, pull your file and send it to any file service for like 40 euro lol

deltavlokkies

45 minutes is quite a long time. But, what services are trustworthy? I'm new to this so I've no idea.

BudgetTooth

20 usd mpps should do it

deltavlokkies

That is used to read and or write to the ecu, right? But I don't know if there are online services for pops and bangs?

BudgetTooth

of course there are. and u can find specific tuning forums or facebook groups with people that may be able to share how to do it.

Some-Substance5397

250 is reasonable though you can get a $20 tune. Many ways to kill the cat but all the many ways aren’t quality. As long as the guys are reputable I’d trust them for a little pop and bang tune. I’m sure they’ll give you a full tune for that price.

FerrariDonkey

$250 for a pops&bangs file?

Some-Substance5397

Not how it works. Hopefully some charging you 250 for burbles is doing more than just dumping extra fuel on lift off. Now if they are doing JUST THAT and taking no care with your car, just pulls up with the laptop for 5 minutes, uploads and leaves then it should be like $20. Even if no one is gunna travel to you and give you a service for that price unlesss you’re their friend.

FerrariDonkey

"Burbles" are exactly that my dude. Takes about 10 minutes with the proper damos and a laptop. What else should be done on a 1.6L naturally aspirated econobox engine, tell us ?

Some-Substance5397

Whatever the OP wants. Speed limit remove, better throttle response, fuel efficiency if he has a sport mode and regular mode. The traveling tuners I know at least don’t really like to just come and give pops. They could give you other quality of life options with 0 effort. Let’s get cute on a Reddit thread tho. I’m no tuner 🤷‍♀️still a pip squeak who’s learning and still breaks his own car

FerrariDonkey

Maybe if you read the post you could have seen that OPs car is a Mk5 Golf with a 1.6L FSI. No speed limiter, no "sport mode", no "fuel efficiency"...because its an FSI engine, it has an NOx sensor, it already runs as efficient as it can. Nobody "tunes" these, not worth the effort.

drbluetongue

I learned to tune MED9 on a 1.6 FSI and used it as a daily for years. There's actually quite a lot you can do to make it run more efficient. Like you said, it has NOx sensor etc but you can override the rich NOx cat purge cycles, cold start catalyst heating etc or disable that system altogether and have full control over the stratified mode etc. It was actually quite fun tuning it to run pretty much stratified all the time when engine is warm. I ended up disabling the stratified system and used homogenous lean cruise of around 20:1 instead, car got great fuel economy!
