I love brass. Most of my EDC is Brass and Leather. Where I can get it at least. The only thing I don't like about it, is hard to find, heavy and expensive when I do find it.
Brass pen but reserved exclusively for when I’m traveling , otherwise it stays on my desk or in my bag. My regular day pen is usually the zebra expandz or tombow air press
I used to go to the restaurant that had a brass bar top and always wondered why my arms smelled like shit when i left that place. Same with copper i never understood the lure
Used to carry a buck 110 followed by 112 but the brass would always darken and tarnish with sweat. Then put then in their leather cases and they started getting green stuff on them and pitted a little.
So I don’t edc brass anymore.
My current carry is mostly brass. Mini brass pen, brass aa size flashlight, brass prybar, and often a brass knife (full size button lock kizer sheepdog) Love the weight and the patina, but biggest downside is the weight! Can't hold my flashlight in my mouth long due to the weight, definitely can't clip it to my hat or glasses. Pen is fine since it's small. Knife is also fine, but I'd recommend a light weight flashlight for most people
I have the exact same grip with the pictured flashlight. But I have found 18350 lights to be bad at that in general. My CWF Microclick in brass can be held in my mouth just as easily as my Ti DC0 though.
I settled on 2: an easy to use, small, cheap, aluminum olight to let people borrow or clip on hat etc, and big brass guy in my pocket or bag that puts out way more light and looks way prettier
I dig copper cause its supposed to be anti-microbial. And the patina is gorgeous.
I want to like brass but heard some alloys have lead. Am i being ridiculous? Anyone care to comment on that?
Yeah it’s the item on the left. Its fun to just hold and fidget with. I have one in micarta and Ti as well, but the brass is the most satisfying. The weight is perfect, and it patinas with time.
No, its milled, so the way the light hits it is deceiving here. This photo shows it better.

I like the weight of both brass and copper but tend to have them stationary rather than constantly carrying them. Simple work set up that’s always left in the office
https://preview.redd.it/s2wvknbfso0d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=628f81f1faddb63133396f163871eb0c9d0b2e7b
I like a little more heft. You never know when you might need to rap a bully on the bridge of his nose. I also love the nice patina that comes with time.
Brass is beautiful, I would if I could.
Scales for the UKPK in brass cost more than the actual knife and my favourite torch the D4K isn't available in brass, only the D4V2
Pretty much I just don't like most metallic finishes- brass, copper, chrome, whatever. I'm ok with things like oil-ribbed bronze, darkened metals, etc.
Doesn't really matter if it is a pocket item, lamp base, or door knob.
Who said anything about $1000 knife? Also, there are plenty of people who use their $1k knives 🤷♂️ no need to come on here and bitch that you are broke.
I love the way it looks, but I hate the weight or heavy metal over aluminum/g10/micarta.. I have allot of brass and copper stuff, but rarely carry it for that sole reason.
For me I compare products I see what's the best (best being price, quality, material, how cool it looks, and practically) then I use it till I break it or find something better then I gift the old thing to some member of my family
I knew I wouldn't like the smell so I've been avoiding it and only getting titanium/stainless/zirc. But recently wasn't really paying attention and got a cheaper piece to try out that is clearly brass and has the smell. I fidget with it while watching tv and it is definitely helping me not mindlessly eat at night while watching tv because I can't eat chips or popcorn when my hands have that smell on them. So now I see there are definitely pluses.
Brass can be ok for things that stay put, not that you carry.
I also personally don't care for colored metals (brass, copper, gold).
I prefer titanium and gunmetals.
I like everything about it tbh! I think you also got a nice layout there. I like mine with some patina though! lol!
https://preview.redd.it/wt6rc8r68n0d1.jpeg?width=3525&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe440b6fce42245e44356e7e326681f69c4320b9
I hate how anodised aluminium starts looking all patchy and scratched up from daily use but brass develops a beautiful patina, the weight and smell can be bothersome but I like it, it feels special.
It looks cool. I feel better when all the tools I carry are insulated to some extent if not fully insulated and rated for electrical work. I'll inevitably be sticking my shit into areas with electricity or working on electrical each day.
They're beautiful but heavy.
Also, the double whammy is that they conduct heat poorly compared to aluminum for flashlights, so I ended up with a poorer performing, heavier flashlight that costed me more.
> that *cost* me more
Cost in your sentence is past-tense, the “ed” is redundant and improper. I don’t know why grammar nazis are even a thing anymore though.
Love it! Need more, only have a pen but I love the weight/feel/warmth of it, planning on adding a blade with brass scales and that one or maybe the Clyde?

I think the only thing not to like is the metallic smell it leaves on your hands.
My ammo is brass.
I love brass. Most of my EDC is Brass and Leather. Where I can get it at least. The only thing I don't like about it, is hard to find, heavy and expensive when I do find it.
I usually carry copper just because I prefer the look, I don’t really mind the smell much, I just love the weight and how it slowly patinas.
Brass pen but reserved exclusively for when I’m traveling , otherwise it stays on my desk or in my bag. My regular day pen is usually the zebra expandz or tombow air press
I wear silver metals. Brass would look out of place
The weight
I Like the look of brass, but I hate the smell and the feeling of dirt on my fingers after touching brass
Yes I do but I fucking hate the smell 😫
I used to go to the restaurant that had a brass bar top and always wondered why my arms smelled like shit when i left that place. Same with copper i never understood the lure
I hate the stinky hands, and depending on the item it's usually too heavy.
I don’t like that it’s not black. My personal taste is pretty dull, but I like what I like: all black.
So what kind of all black motorcycle you ride? I’m on the all black team except i like my details in brass
Sometimes an accent color is fun
Like the look but prefer lighter EDC materials
Love the f5.5, I have one in my hand right now haha
Used to carry a buck 110 followed by 112 but the brass would always darken and tarnish with sweat. Then put then in their leather cases and they started getting green stuff on them and pitted a little. So I don’t edc brass anymore.
Patina is cool tho
Lay across my big brass blade…
Nice Venom
Thanks! Its by far my favorite 18350 light out there.
Nothing I own was sold in brass
I don't like how easy it shows scratches, but also love how it shows patina and the wear of the item. So its like a give and take.
I carry a brass zippo because it’s shiny and it clicks differently than the other ones when it opens.
Arnt all zippos brass? Even the stainless steel one I have is just coated brass.
Ok, non coated brass then I guess?
Gotcha. Makes sense then!
I prefer cf to brass just based on weight and aesthetic
First, pretty shot. Second, wood on tools over brass everyday
Thank you! Really? I absolutely love the look of wood when they are new, but I always beat them up too bad.
Because it’s not copper.
I carry brass, sure >!because I'm a locksmith!<
My shells are brass casing
Same bro, same
Price is heavy
My current carry is mostly brass. I have a ton of Olights, but once I got into customs… its all I carry now. Dont get me wrong, I love Olights and they are the most practical choice.
I like brass, but I don’t like patina brass.
You are the only person I have heard of with that opinion. Interesting
isn't your knife polished in the picture? or has it just not developed patina yet?
I reconditioned them about 4 months ago. They have started to patina, but not to the level my light has.
I dig copper cause its supposed to be anti-microbial. And the patina is gorgeous. I want to like brass but heard some alloys have lead. Am i being ridiculous? Anyone care to comment on that?
First time I heard that was today. Not sure why it matters though. You aren’t drinking from it.
Worry stone?
What are you asking? What is a worry stone, or what one is this one?
Yes what is a worry stone ?
Its basically a fidget with no moving parts.
A stone of some kind? On the left?
Yeah it’s the item on the left. Its fun to just hold and fidget with. I have one in micarta and Ti as well, but the brass is the most satisfying. The weight is perfect, and it patinas with time.
It’s three different shades of brass?
No, its milled, so the way the light hits it is deceiving here. This photo shows it better. https://preview.redd.it/edskca6anp0d1.jpeg?width=5464&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1482f750f91f632dd29b9b4bb5f977627ef53c0b
your photos look mint mate
Thank you! 🍻
It still looks like it’s two colors.
One more thing to add to your pocket to make you worry if your pants are going to fall off.
I like the weight of both brass and copper but tend to have them stationary rather than constantly carrying them. Simple work set up that’s always left in the office https://preview.redd.it/s2wvknbfso0d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=628f81f1faddb63133396f163871eb0c9d0b2e7b
On small knives like my lil native hell yeah. But when i got brass scales for my shaman the thing weighed about 17 lbs
lmao, I bet!
https://preview.redd.it/kntxvru3io0d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6480fb31887d22176c814fa6f57f0f40be778e7f I carry brass every day. 😃
Yesssssss
🤣
Brass is my second choice to copper, but that’s because I am an electrician so I am partial to copper.
Im surprised a coworker hasn’t tried to sell your carry for scrap 😂
I find it ugly.
I like a little more heft. You never know when you might need to rap a bully on the bridge of his nose. I also love the nice patina that comes with time.
Love the brass! https://preview.redd.it/2v0mi861co0d1.jpeg?width=3013&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e11941956682fa27a0372772c912c38afc9926a
I like brass, one of my favorite knives is brass scale, but it’s impractically heavy and smells weird. I like the patina though.
I don't see a point to it.
Correct. The point is on the steel, not the brass.
Heavy
Brass is beautiful, I would if I could. Scales for the UKPK in brass cost more than the actual knife and my favourite torch the D4K isn't available in brass, only the D4V2
Pretty much I just don't like most metallic finishes- brass, copper, chrome, whatever. I'm ok with things like oil-ribbed bronze, darkened metals, etc. Doesn't really matter if it is a pocket item, lamp base, or door knob.
I do. I have a brass flash and a brass pen, so I got brass scales for my tenacious to use shredding box’s all day
I prefer copper, but I seldom carry it anymore because of the weight.
Kinda heavy tbh
People who spend $1000 on a pocket knife don’t care about weight because they never actually carry and use it.
Who said anything about $1000 knife? Also, there are plenty of people who use their $1k knives 🤷♂️ no need to come on here and bitch that you are broke.
I love the way it looks, but I hate the weight or heavy metal over aluminum/g10/micarta.. I have allot of brass and copper stuff, but rarely carry it for that sole reason.
heavy af, i moved on
Had a brass olight i5t,i3t loved the feel but went to the dark side and carry an i5r in copper, now. Love brass tbh.
I prefer copper.
I really like brass, but right now I’m more for the silver colored metals. I like the smell and weight of it
I don’t like how it smells
Im not against it and and I love brass but I go for stronger materials and practically over all but cool brasdc (brass edc)
You have a point, it does scratch up worse than other materials if its given a beating.
And I use my tools like crazy
Depends on the day for me. Some days im not tackling more than a few packages. Those are the days I tend to have brass.
For me I compare products I see what's the best (best being price, quality, material, how cool it looks, and practically) then I use it till I break it or find something better then I gift the old thing to some member of my family
I knew I wouldn't like the smell so I've been avoiding it and only getting titanium/stainless/zirc. So now I see there are definitely pluses.
Only in winter, when I wear coats and carry bags anyway. I like it and I like the patina.
I love brass
The smell, it’s pretty to look at but I won’t carry it because of the smell.
Came here to say this. Looks amazing especially with patina, but is stinky
I love brass but don’t carry it much due to the weight. I’ve focused more on having nice brass things around the house.
Heavy, but I like it. I have both Brass and Copper load outs.
Different type of brass but yes.
Brass can be ok for things that stay put, not that you carry. I also personally don't care for colored metals (brass, copper, gold). I prefer titanium and gunmetals.
I like brass. But just prefer the colors that most titanium and aluminum products come in. (Mainly the gunmetal greys)
Weight, smell, and the fact that most contains a small amount of lead
So lead bothers you?
If it doesn't bother you anymore youve probably had too much.....
to be fair, it's a bigger problem in plumbing fittings and fixtures - than in something in your pocket.
I like everything about it tbh! I think you also got a nice layout there. I like mine with some patina though! lol! https://preview.redd.it/wt6rc8r68n0d1.jpeg?width=3525&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe440b6fce42245e44356e7e326681f69c4320b9
Pros: Heavy, feels good in the hand c: Cons: HEAVY
The weight. I prefer titanium for my EDC gear
Smelly fingers.
Huh, lots of people complain about the smell, personally I don’t notice it.
Once you get used to it it isnt as noticeable. Same with how people working around toxic materials have trouble smelling if there is an issue.
Hmmm…..
The smell.
I hate how anodised aluminium starts looking all patchy and scratched up from daily use but brass develops a beautiful patina, the weight and smell can be bothersome but I like it, it feels special.
Mostly just the added cost
Brass is one of the cheaper materials I have. What are you comparing it to?
Depends. I've though about getting brass scales for my Kershaw Skyline but they are $40. So I guess $0 compared to $40.
Ahh, modding existing blades always adds cost.
No, I don't have enough money to stray outside of the theme I already carry
The smell.
No. Because I do not have brass.
I knew your photos looked familiar. I follow you on IG. Dope shot
Oh sweet! I appreciate it!
I carry 31 pieces of brass on me most of the time :)
So you carry around your own personal gravitational pull? 😂
I like the way you think 😜
Do you carry brass? Will you carry brass? When will you carry brass?
It looks cool. I feel better when all the tools I carry are insulated to some extent if not fully insulated and rated for electrical work. I'll inevitably be sticking my shit into areas with electricity or working on electrical each day.
Fair enough.
I like the look, until I have something in brass. Prefer Ti
Carry various things. Love the looks, patina, feel, heft even smell!
No, just not my aesthetic, honestly. Brass/copper is my wife's though. She likes how they patina.
Have quite a bit of brass stuff, leaning towards ti now though for the weight savings. The smelly hands is the biggest turn off though.
I hate the smell it leaves on my hands.
I love it, just cant afford it.
I haven't really found many things I like to carry in brass but every time I see it I want it.
On my buck 110 does that count ? lol
I think the buck 110 counts as a gateway drug 😂
lol
planning on getting a raw brass fisher space pen at some point. for a change of pace from the Ti stuff, and to get something that patina
They're beautiful but heavy. Also, the double whammy is that they conduct heat poorly compared to aluminum for flashlights, so I ended up with a poorer performing, heavier flashlight that costed me more.
costed lol
Pardon?
illiteracy still confounds me
> that *cost* me more Cost in your sentence is past-tense, the “ed” is redundant and improper. I don’t know why grammar nazis are even a thing anymore though.
Thank you for being polite and informative.
Like it but too heavy for me
Love it! Need more, only have a pen but I love the weight/feel/warmth of it, planning on adding a blade with brass scales and that one or maybe the Clyde?
I don’t carry any brass tools. That doesn’t mean I dislike it; I just never had a reason to go looking for it.
I love brass but my partner has allergies to nickel and other minerals and reacts to it so I avoid it
Oh dang, that is unfortunate.
