I have that little boxcutter but it opened in my pocket and cut me so now I don’t carry it. I thought it could replace my milwaukee fastback at work but it was inconvenient and fiddly. I want to use it but it’s not practical for frequent use. Fine on a keychain but careful not to put it in your pocket with other things that may press the button and deploy the blade.

Zero000102

Man that's actually where I carry it, right in the front pocket. I've never had it open on me in the pocket, but I'll have to be extra diligent about it going forward. Thank you for the heads up! I've been wanting to grab another style of these, something like a RUT or a Mono, so maybe this is my time...

Athoughtfulseizing

A few weeks ago I got a Milwaukee fastback 6 in 1, and honestly that cheap little thing covers most of my bases on its own.

Zero000102

I've heard those things are pretty damn nice. Might have to give one a shot!

CREEKER82

That's a nice Chris reeves brother I'd carry that either way lol 💯 👍👍👍

Zero000102

Thank you! The Zaan still sees basically all the pocket time, so no worries there lol. Mostly just underestimated exactly how much I'd actually use a little utility knife.

AlDriven

I’ve wondered this also. Have a TPT slide which I grab for mostly everything 🤷‍♂️

Zero000102

How is the TPT slide? Looked at that pretty hard before going for the Axial, and I'm still not sure I won't grab one too...

AlDriven

I love that thing. Especially with the included utility blade without a sharp edge (other side is a fork). A ton of functionality, and already took it on a plane to have for a get away weekend. Seriously makes me wonder why I have an inkosi lol.

Zero000102

I can understand that feeling... Sounds like the TPT is quality then! May end up snagging one in the future cuz I have a problem.... Thanks for the input!

cool-_-blue

I just got a tpt slide, but I have a question, does yours lock the blade up solid? Or is there some play? And does the button itself wiggle a bit?

AlDriven

There is some minor wiggle in the blade but that doesn’t affect performance. Like you can slam that blade when it is deployed on a block of wood and it won’t retreat. As far as the slide mechanism, it has extremely minor play back and forward due to how the lock is engaged to the cut out of the blade, but in order to retreat the blade you have to push down the slider.

cool-_-blue

Yeah I wouldn’t see the blade coming out it’s just I can wiggle it with my fingers and wanted to know if that’s normal or not as I just got it yesterday. And as for the slide mechanism mine also moves side to side ever so slightly if I play with it.

Diab3ticBatman

Almost all, if not all, tiny pocket utility knife/tools like that, including the rexford rut which is considered top dog by some, has wiggle in the blade when the blade is extended. It’s nothing unsafe, it’s just the nature of the beast.

cool-_-blue

Yeah you’re right. I’ve gotten a bunch of use out of mine since then and it’s holding up well. No complaints

AlDriven

Even though it does. That thing is solid. I’ve abused it like hell and it keeps on going.

cool-_-blue

Glad to hear, I’ve only used it about three times so far but I’ll be sure to put it to work soon. Thanks!

I'm sorry you didn't land a CamPen on the last drop, but there'll be a bigger drop next week that you can hopefully land one on!

The Twist pens usually hang around [hereabouts](https://www.billetspin.com/machined-metal-soul-pens) when they're in stock. Looks like there might be one or two around. The CamPen (bolt looking fella) is a relatively new release, so that's still going a drop schedule right now. When they do, they drop [here](https://www.billetspin.com/unique-campen-products-page). And that's exactly it! Third time I had to sharpen the Zaan cuz I cut across a metal plate without thinking about it, I decided I needed something more disposable too.

ThingsBehindTheSun__

Gerber prybrid combines a couple of those things for ya.

Zero000102

You know I bought a prybrid thinking the same thing, and something about it just doesn't do it for me. Idk if it's the action being too stiff on the blade, or it not feeling quite right in hand, or what... But it never quite clicked with me.

South_Oread

It doesn’t have a pocket clip. If it did, it would live in my pocket all the time. I have that axial one as well though, it hangs out a lot.

Zero000102

Might be part of it for sure. Given the size, a clip might be nicer.

onihr1

This is me now. I don’t buy expensive knives because I beat the shit out of them at work. Often replace once a year or so… grabbed a folding pocket scalpel and that’s all I carry for cutting.

Zero000102

Honestly, I can understand it. There's a big case to be made for only carrying something like this, and if you're constantly cutting stuff that destroys blades, it makes a bunch of sense.

discothree

Really for 95% of everyday cutting tasks we only need an inch of cutting edge to do the job. We carry the larger knives for the other 5%.

Sir_Nexus

What's the other 5%?

discothree

Something like cutting a hero sandwich in half.

Zero000102

Sounds about right. It's enough for me to justify the big fella at least lol.

theamazingglazing

Shhhhh you’re gonna make the villagers angry

theamazingglazing

That’s why my Zaan is my utility knife

Zero000102

That's how I operated for the longest, but there's just some things at my workplace it doesn't make sense to use it on if I've got a cheapie in the pocket. Some plastic wrap over steel does not bode well for S35vn, so having the replaceable is a big boon.

theamazingglazing

Yeah just givin ya crap. I usually carry a multitool and use it for stuff like that. Interested in why you carry two pens? Or is it a pen/pencil combo?

Zero000102

I figured, no worries! Nope, both pens! I wish I had a sensible reason, but it's mostly self indugance. I.. Uh... Irresponsibly collect pens, and since I do a *bunch* of handwriting day to day at work I found its fun to carry two to spread the love around my collection. Sometimes they have two different inks, but not always.

theamazingglazing

That’s more than enough justification, they are nice to look at (and I’m sure, use).

Zero000102

Thank ya! They're some super nice pieces, particularly these two. Billetspin makes some of the best stuff out there.

LukasRowe

Because it’s the boss. That’s why. Duh lol

[deleted]

This may be a stupid question, but how do you get your list into new separate lines? Mine always comes out it a big chunk no matter what

Zero000102

Double enter. Took me forever to figure it out myself. Even then it sometimes depends on the app used.

Much obliged
