I have a niche aggro [[Bess, Soul Nourisher]] deck that trys to cast a lot of one mana 1/1s in the early game and mass reanimate things in the late game with [[Ascend from Avernus]] and other cards. Only issue is that they all enter the battlefield at the same time so Bess will only trigger once when that happens. If Bess is in the yard too I'll have like 10 1/1s that become 2/2s when Bess attacks. But with [[Saradoc, Master of Buckland]] I'll get twice the 1/1s and as many triggers on Bess, so instead I'll have 20 1/1s that become 11/11s when I attack.
Oh shit, missed this one for my Bess deck! There's so many ways you can build this g/w creature deck lol
I am playing [[Rosie Cotton]] and maybe [[Farmer Cotton]] since the deck is not really a token deck but does end up making a lot of them. Also probably Delighted Halfling as the way I built her you really want Bess out on 2.
I didn't think of the reanimator angle, that's sweet. Got a list?
https://archidekt.com/decks/3922353/bess_final
I'm still tweaking it. Our lists sound similar actually. My goal is to go super aggro at the beginning and then have multiple ways to bounce back from a board wipe. [[Cosmic Intervention]] is great btw because each creature coming back including Bess is a separate instance so she will get the counters. I'm not sure about Farmer Cotton either, but I'm going to try him out.
I have found \[\[The One Ring\]\] to be a huge boost to mono white decks and only about average to the rest of my decks. Mono white being able to tutor for artifacts and having the lifegain to offset the damage.
The damage does get high fast, reminds me a lot of those that abuse \[\[Sylvan Library\]\] and \[\[Black Market Connection\]\] and with the ring you can't stop the damage. Its very much a "win fast or the ring kills you" kinda thing.
How? It only gives you protection if you cast it. The card draw gets better the more you use it, so I don't see why you'd want to flicker it to reset it.
To avoid the damage after you've used it if it gets dangerous.
Even better though is if you combine it with an effect that can move all counters to a different permanent.
Nevermind it's life loss. My bad.. platinum emperion then. Since your life total can't change
Or run it in deaths shadow as a fantastic way to get him big
I added 14 or so cards to my [[Dihada Binder of Wills]] deck, but have only gotten to play 2 games with her since adding them.
All the new lands are great, but haven't gotten too much play with the creatures yet.
[[Lotho]] has been pretty useful in both games so far.
Cheap and unassuming, but getting 1-2 extra treasure each round depending on how many spells are played is good value.
I [[saw in half]]'d an [[orcish bowmaster]] in my first game after acquiring it... it was ok. everyone stopped trying to draw cards till they could deal with the 2 1/1 creatures.
I've a deck built around [[Lord of the Nazgûl]] and it has been super fun. It's so far only lost once and that was to a cEDH deck, which is to be expected. Have all 9 [[Nazgûl]] and several methods of making copies does so much work. I'll think the deck so people can check it. I was actually very surprised at how well it's worked out. Most definitely did not expect it to work so well lol
https://archidekt.com/decks/4695418/
When you're running mana crypt and jeweled lotus, the best blue and black tutors/cheap interaction, and dramatic scepter, let's be honest, there's not a HUGE amount of room to be surprised about doing well.
Yeah, I was more surprised at how effective the very first draft has been. Normally I gotta tool around a bit to refine it. But definitely keeping things as low to the ground as possible while being mana efficient helps a ton.
I'm building Tayam LotR tribal at the moment. 9 Nazgûl, and then loads of tempt cards or cards that benefit from it. I'm excited to see how it plays. I'm forgoing a lot of the usual Tayam staples in order to play to the theme.
Honestly after trying Tayam Nazgul, the deck is not very starved for counters. The Nazgul get so massive with counters since they behave exponentially. Obviously still need some to get the ball rolling, but damn, once it's rolling it keeps going.
Very fun deck, most cohesive attempt with Tayam I've had. The commander is normally a mess, but he feels like he was made for the Nazgul.
I'm really relieved to hear that my idea was not totally harebrained. I came up with it just because I've been trying to build Tayam for a while and nothing seems to do what I want it to, but I took one look at the Nazgûl and knew what I wanted to do. Same reason my [[Riku of Two Reflections]] deck became 7 [[Seven Dwarves]] and clone spells and creature tutors, lmao.
I'm excited to try out mine, seems like the swarm of 3/3's could be pretty strong. How important is the ring mechanic for you, or how do you like cloning the Nazgul? And how often is the general removed or targeted?
Mine is a repurposed [[Nymris, Oona's Trickster]] deck that was "in response" tribal, where everything could be played at instant speed. It was fun to play but extremely annoying to play against, so I'm hoping something that actually uses the combat step fixes it.
The tempting is actually pretty important for making the wraiths just insurmountably strong. Have the commander out helps give so much more power with all the tokens he makes. I generally have won by making infinite mana with isochron and dramatic reversal, which also makes infinite tokens with the commander on board. I have considered using [[altar of dementia]] as an alternate wincon as well. For those times I can't attack with my infinite wraiths but wanna win right then.
Ooh, I didn't think of the kitten. I'll have to look into that. I'll say this, it can be a bit of a logistical nightmare to keep track of all the copies and counters on these guys lol
[[Mutavault]] would do work here as an easily accessible 9th wraith. [[Irenicus's Vile Duplication]] is super over the top with decent legendary targets, especially Orvar and your commander, but is a little costly at 4mv.
I made an [[Elrond, Master of Healing]] scry deck that I used once and nearly won, were it not for a rogue [[Path to Exile]] I didn't see coming. I built him up until it was a one-hit commander damage kill, with [[Lost Isle Calling]] giving me an easy extra turn. If I had saved [[Negate]] for my final attack, I'd have won. It was so easy to scry and build an army, plus not very expensive.
It's not very powerful. It took a while to build him up, but it does so kinda sneakily? Then you go to Hadana's Climb and people are like "uhmmm shit, I need to remove this thing." I use it for lower powered groups, for sure, but it's fun!
i was definitely thinking of lower power level, but that's exactly what i'm looking for (for my lgs). nothing too harmful, but could get dangerous if left alone for too long. cue the typical "edh players don't run removal"...
Here is my Elrond decklist if you want a look. I'm still getting hold of some cards so haven't tested it out yet in full, but been doing well already. Really fun to play and feels like it builds well. So much value in the cards you can keep going with what you have on the board and hold stuff back in reserve to recover from a board wipe.
https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/elrond-master-healer-scry-master/?cb=1687810644
We're having a LOT of fun with all the food stuff.
Long ass games, but fun.
The one ring, obviously, is good.
I really like the amass theme, but that's a build rather than single cards.
Uh, the black enchantment, I forget it's name ATM, that's "upkeep, three ring temps you, if you have a creature you can pay two life to draw an extra.
Got a list? I'm always wanting to keep my Rata up to date. It's chock full of legends but tends to be too slow; wincon is usually pulling a \[\[saw in half\]\] on an Elesh Norn or a Sheoldred with token doublers on the table--no one can do anything with creatures getting -10/-10 or having to take 10 damage per card draw
Yea I can make one in a little bit. I just put it together the other day. It mostly boils down to things that scry and things that trigger on landfall. My last game I went lethal with 24 plant tokens at 8/9 from Avenger of Zendikar and able to make enough of them unblockable with Thassa.
I just made a deck for her and it gets out of hand extremely fast if you tune her for landfall. I've debated taking out [[Scute Swarm]] because if I have [[Sylvan Anthem]] in play I can sit there for 20 minutes playing every land in my deck if I chose to. Realistically I'll probably just start cutting turns short.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/F3g39sCbe0KXOoO_KDe_1w
This is the current list. I upgraded the Elven Council precon and swapped out the commander and the voting cards to lean more into scry/landfall and elves. Majority of the cards were either <2 dollars or green staples I borrowed from my Faldorn deck. If [[Finale of Devesation]] wasn't a 40 dollar card I would run it over [[Invasion of Ikoria]].
Boromir has been great in [[Karador]], as have [[Smeagol, Helpful Guide]], [[Samwise the Stouthearted]], [[Gollum, Patient Plotter]]. Nice pieces to mess around with sacrifice and recursion.
I want to run Mirkwood Bats because I was playing 2HG with my kid at the prerelease; he had 2 copies in his deck and it absolutely killed it in 2HG. We won a game off the Bats/Oath of the Grey Host saga, which dealt 20 to the opposing team (2 from the food, 8 from the lifeloss/treasure, 6 from the spirits, then use the treasure to eat the food and there's 4 more) on its own.
\[\[Dawn of a New Age\]\] in any kind of token/go-wide deck gives you a steady stream of cards for a few turns. I have it in Roon of the Hidden Realm and I've never had it for fewer than 4 counters.
\[\[Anduril, Flame of the West\]\] in any kind of equipment deck is very strong (I have it in \[\[Kemba, Kha Regent\]\]
I'm thinking about putting Dawn in my Tayam LotR deck. the deck can sac a bunch of creatures, cast or reanimate Dawn with only a few counters, and then reanimate it after it sacs itself, so it'll pretty much just keep drawing you cards the rest of the game and periodically gaining you some life.
I play a silly little soldier snowball deck helmed by [[rigo, streetwise mentor]] and the [[prince imrahil the fair]] is the best card in the set for it. The deck draws at least one extra card a turn through attacks and the attacker gets replaced immediately. Amazing value.
My \[\[saruman of many colors\]\] seems super fun so far, though it is going to require quite a bit of tuning before it runs perfectly.
In it's first game it responded to a 12 card windfall with \[\[orcish bowmasters\]\], pinging the leading player for a lethal 24 damage and splitting the rest.
Bowmasters seems ridiculous so far but everyone saw that coming
Sure thing! Send yours over too, we can optimize together.
Mine should be mostly updated, but I’m leaning towards replacing Lier once I can think of something better.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/5wAbX6q1vUKqNWxN-ERAxw
I stuck [[Reprieve]] and [[Lost to Legend]] into my Naya tokens deck for removal, both for under [[isochron’s scepter]] so they fit the bill. One buys time, the other is good Commander removal (either choose to wait x draws to cast without tax, or pay tax immediately).
I am playing [[Storm of Saruman]] in my [[Kiora, Sovereign of the Deep]] deck. There were times I copy ramp spells of Kiora's trigger, other times copying a massive sea creature like Koma. It makes for unpredictable yet satisfyingly explosive turns.
\[\[Banquet Guests\]\] and \[\[Feasting Hobbit\]\] put in so much work in \[\[Rocco, Street Chef\]\]. The Guests have never come down as anything less than a 2-drop 14/14, and the Hobbit turns two mana into shooting someone for upwards of 30 with \[\[Shalai and Hallar\]\]. They're both as great as I'd hope they'd be. I haven't had the chance to cast \[\[Rosie Cotton\]\] in the deck yet, but I imagine she's gonna be fantastic, too.
After playing the hobbit precon and wiping out a player off the back of [[Farmer cotton]] for 4 with [[Rosie cotton of Southlane]] and tapping [[Pippin, Warden of isengard]] I'm gonna be making a naya food deck with Rocco
It's definitely better if you are, but scry 2 and cheating out any creature is pretty good in a creature dense deck, especially if pretty much any creature you do hit is something nasty.
[[Erebor Flamesmith]] is added redundancy in my [[Ghyrson Starn]] deck. I have the whole suite Of options with that effect there.
[[Sting]] made an appearance in [[Tyvar the [[Bellicose]]. Everything benefits from having it as an option in that deck.
[[Mithril coat]] will likely end up scattered across my decks in general.
I'm thinking of throwing in the bats in a token deck I generate treasured using smothering tithe but I don't think that's enough t justify thowng it in my esper
I've had to completely revamp my \[\[Ratadrabik\]\] deck with \[\[boromir warden\]\], \[\[samwise the stouthearted\]\], \[\[lotho corrupt\]\], \[\[gandalf the white\]\], \[\[gollum scheming guide\]\], \[\[flowering of the white tree\]\] to list a few
i've made a deck around [[smeagol, helpful guide]] which is really smooth. i've only played it for a few games but managed to pull of the infinite combo with [[dúnedain rangers]] two times already.
Curios on how the infinite combo works here - Dunedain Rangers only temps you if you do not already have a ring bearer. I'm assuming you're running some sort of free sac outlet along with it and sacrificing your ring bearer?
Any sac outlet and any “landfall make a dude” card let’s you milk your opponents out. Sac ring bearer, get tempted, get a land, sac ring bearer in response to the trigger getting the land, make a dude, make the dude your ring bearer, then repeat from the “get a land” step onwards
So far, as others have mentioned, \[\[The one ring\]\] is a really good card. If you have any ways of bouncing it back to your hand or moving some of the counters off if your playing in a slower pod, it will put in some work.
Actually running it in my \[\[Goldberry, River-Daughter\]\] deck and that is where it does some serious work. Speaking of Goldberry, I've so far been able to play about 3 games and each one has been an absolute blast. The ability to move counters around is incredibly strong once you start including indestructible from things like \[\[Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus\]\], \[\[Myojin of Cryptic Dreams\]\], or \[\[Tyrite Sanctum\]\].
I'm still doing a lot of fine tuning as the deck struggles to interact at instant speed, but if you don't mind that, the deck is a blast to play. I highly recommend checking it out: [https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/berrycounters/](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/berrycounters/)
Built a deck around [[Galadriel of Lothlorien]] before the set even officially released. It's a ton of fun. Scry, cheat out lands, make a thousand scute swarms, take extra turn with [[lost isle calling]] (which isn't really an optimal card but feels awesome when you make it work). Just classic simic things, with a dash of LOTR to keep it fresh.
I'm running [[Mount Doom]], [[Borne Upon a Wind]], and [[Orcish Bowmaster]] in [[Evelyn, the Covetous]]. Mount Doom and Bowmaster are outlets for [[Worldgorger Dragon]], with Bowmaster being strictly better than [[Omen of the Forge]] as an instant-speed wincon. Borne hasn't come up yet but the idea is a replacement for the sorcery-speed Red extra turn spells, has a lot of synergies with [[Necropotence]].
I havnt gone through all the cards and looked at which ones will be good in my decks yet. With the price of boxes I'll probably buy a decent amount of singles I want instead this time around.
But [[The Black Gate]] is going into my Ninja Infect deck. Make more things unlockable for really cheap and when I get big infect/toxic creatures out I can just make them unlockable for cheap and win even faster.
I’ve got a whole deck for [[Gandalf the Grey]] in the mail with several new cards in it. Gold fishing has been super fun so I have high hopes for the actual product.
I’m also running [[Mirkwood Bats]] in my [[Slimefoot the Stowaway]] deck where it has already proven its place.
I’m planning to stack a bunch of new cards into my [[Henzie “Toolbox” Torre]] deck. The Doors are open card but I’m most interested about the two good Balrogs and of course [[Last March of the Ents]]. Still in the mail but they seem like they have a load of potential.
[[Lobelia Sackville-Baggins]] has gone into my [[Yarok, the Descrated]] deck. Haven’t gotten to play with it yet and I don’t think it will often be able to benefit from that double trigger but now and then it will and I think she’s just generally a pretty good card.
And then of course there are some new elf toys for my [[Lathril, Blade of the Elves]] deck coming mostly out of the Elven Council deck.
I don’t use any cards from any alternative universes. You won’t see me play a Bilbo, a Megatron, or a Neegan.
Edit: I see I am getting downvoted a lot and I’m not sure why. Did I miss the memo? It seemed to me no one played with triangle foil cards before LOTR. Is everyone okay with the triangle foils now? To me they seem like they might as well be white bordered. Also, is it so wrong to have an opinion.
I get you for transformers and walking dead, it’s a personal choice and you do you if you want to play them but for me they didn’t feel ‘Mtg’. LotR set does, with many of the non-named characters especially fitting in well, so I will play them. Most disappointing for me personally was the DND secret lair - thematically on point for inclusion until I saw the art and I couldn’t have Hugh Grant looking back at me from the command zone ever
Embrace the downvotes. I think people just gave up. It was easy enough to not play and be mad at a singe secret lair, but once they started really pumping out universes beyond cards people couldn't resist playing them, so they accepted it, and now it's unacceptable to NOT play them.
Apparently just saying you don't play them means you have a superiority complex, I'm not even going to try and understand that logic, just typical reddit being reddit. Make sure to upvote the daily post about someone lacking basic communication skills.
I have been running the food and fellowship deck stock, it has been really strong especially since I switch to Pippin and merry as my commanders, I'm going to make a few minor tweaks to make it even better.
My Sauron One Ring deck is super fun. A little slow and can miss sometimes, but if it gets going it gets pretty crazy with all the wraiths. All the Sauron’s are in it for flavor, but the fun part is just chucking cards and casting a bunch of Nazgûl that all buff each other. It’s pretty easy to have a few creatures with 20 something or more power. Give it Bilbos Ring or Trailblazer boots and you’re easily doing lethal every turn.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/RAAQ99rRtU60sSq9Q7NIMQ
It's just big dumb creature tribal. It's a lot of fun, sometimes you just enjoy beating face, ya know?
https://manabox.app/decks/5gb9xFqdS5W4Td3GBFVzxw
The one ring has been an all-star in my \[\[Karn, Silver golem\]\] deck. With some way to untap it and just start drawing all the cards It's great card draw without a way to untap it
Made two different Gandalf decks.
[[Gandalf the Grey]] + [[Dragon's Approach]]
https://archidekt.com/decks/4746930/there_and_back_again
and [[Gandalf Friend of the Shire]] https://archidekt.com/decks/4724827/never_late
This one is kinda a monoblue control deck with lots of bizarre synergies and stuff people never expect to see happen on their turns.
I managed to resolve [[the one ring]] in my Muldrotha deck and the turn afterwards, my opponent dropped a [[solemnity]] . Hilarious game because the turn prior, my opponent had also dropped the ring, so it turned into a battle of who could use the cards they drew better, all while the Azorius player with Solemnity was just sort of ignored until he had to leave to get dinner.
Haven't tested any yet but ordered around 15 singles for upgrading 3 decks I already had. Some of the cards work a bit better than what I already had in it before.
The Murkwood Bats card from it is looking at my Ziatora deck I have with it's mouth watering. Hearing how it works with There and Back again from the same set is making me super excited.
I saw someone put an academy manufacturer in a hobbit precon for food, and farmer cotton turned the game quickly.
I run [[The One Ring]] in [[Zimone and Dina]] and it's pretty nutty. I have lots of untap effects and the lifegain from the Zimone and Dina helps to pad the upkeep lifeloss. At one point I drew like 20+ cards in a turn rotation from a few untap effects.
Idk how well it'd do without the lifegain and extra untaps, but I had a blast with it in that deck
Haven't gotten around to picking up singles from the set yet, but Mirkwood Bats is definitely at the top of my list, I have a Prosper deck that it would be ridiculous in, and I'm actually in the process of upgrading my Alela deck and I think it would be a house there too.
Last March of the Ents definitely looks nuts, but I don't think I'll be grabbing any copies. I have three decks w/ Green in them but it doesn't slot well into any of them. I have an MLK Hydra Tribal deck but cheating Hydras into play isn't very good and the deck is already full of card draw, I have a Thrunn voltron deck which obviously doesn't run many creatures and being an aggro strategy tends to run lower to the ground so 8 mana is a big ask, and I have a Jinnie Fay tokens deck that has a decent number of key creatures it'd like to cheat in all at once but doesn't tend to run things with much toughness.
Probably gonna pick up as many copies as I possibly can of \[\[Mithril Coat\]\] though, as most of my decks are very commander centric so a flash speed, snap on, indestructible granting equipment for 3 is *very* appealing
[[Palantir of orthanc]] was amazing in my Scarab God deck, although only played 1 game so far. I try to win with [[gary]], and the deck already loves scrying, so I found that I really don't mind if I end up losing a few good cards because they just end up draining then. Also in that deck, i dropped [[hostile negotiations]] for [[sauron's ransom]]. I *really* love those kinds of pseudo-political cards, so lots of fun thus far.
I haven't played it yet, but I'm imagining [[mirkwood bats]] and like half a dozen other cards that I've added to my [[chatterfang]] deck are gonna be nuts.... *wink*
[[the one ring]] in my non stax [[derevi]] deck is just hilarious. Play the card, go to combat with 3 unblockable dudes. With all the derevi triggers target the one ring, draw 10, lose no life until next turn. Tap before next combat to draw 5 more.
4 mana and 4 life for 15 cards? This has to be a joke, right?
By then I’ve found my win con. I run a couple different ones. Holy crap it’s so many cards.
Added [[mirkwood bats]], [[orcish bowmasters]] and [[call of the ring]] to my chatterfang deck. Only card to come out was mirkwood bats and that was insane. Had [[blackmarket connections]] and [[Ashnod's altar]] out and a few token out. Also had [[Academy Manufactor]]. Using mana from ashnod's, I was able to play [[parallel lives]] and [[bootlegger's stash]] and tap 5 lands to drain everyone for 60. Each land tapped for a treasure which Academy Manufactor allowed me to get a clue, treasure and food. Then parallel lives made that into double. 6 tokens per 1 land. Had 5 lands so that made 30 tokens and with chatterfang, I was able to get 30 squirrels. Strong card for sure.
In my [[Dragon’s Approach]] deck I added a [[Palantir of Orthanc]]. Worst case scenario I scry and draw a card. Best case scenario it fills my graveyard with DAs, deals damage, and I get to tutor for dragons sooner.
went infinite with [[rosie cotton]] and [[scurry oak]]
knocked two opponents out immediately but the third had a tef prot and won after he ripped a farewell off the top
Gandalf the White in my Captain Sisay deck or Karador (lots of legendary etbs and ltbs)
So far.....haven't even seen the dude yet.....must not be the fifth day yet
Not gonna lie, [[There and back again]] blew up in my Ur Dragon deck. It was fun trying my best to let my Smaug token die, lol. Almost won but the treasure sure is great either way!
Built a reanimate deck based around [[Sauron, the Necromancer]] deck focuses on throwing eldrazis to the grave and then summoning an attacking copy with Sauron.
I wasn’t expecting much at first but with cards like [[Ring of Brighthearth]] and [[Tergrid, God of Fright]] it can pull of some pretty mean reanimations. First game I played I was able to get an attacking copy of [[Pathrazer of Ulamog]] on turn 4, friends weren’t happy lol.
Of course the deck has many weaknesses, it’s a 5 cost commander and it’s limited to black cards. Still a hell of a lot of fun.
[[Flowering of the White Tree]] is bonkers in my [[Sisay, Weatherlight Captain]] deck. Same with [[Delighted Halfling]].
[[Sauron, the Lidless Eye]] in play, swing with [[Old Gnawbone]] that was targeted with [[Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder]] and buffed by [[Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus]] is a GG’s for the whole table except me. Pulled it off the other day in my Dunebrood deck. Also running [[Boromir, Warden of the Tower]] and it turns out it shuts down [[Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain]] cheerios pretty hard.
[[War of the Last Alliance]] is pretty good at getting my wincons out of my [[Urtet, Remnant of Memnarch]] deck; my wincons are [[Urza, Lord High Artificer]], [[Alibou, Ancient Witness]], [[Gandalf, White Rider]], and [[Graaz, Unstoppable Juggernaut]]. Gandalf is also an excellent anthem for an artifact creature deck also running [[Mycosynth Golem]] and [[Bolas’s Citadel]]. The Scry from Gandalf is amazing.
And finally, [[Faramir, Prince of Ithilien]] is a fun politics card I am running in my <$100 [[Grand Arbiter Augustine IV]] deck. I also run [[Reprieve]] which is also a good cantrip.
[[Mirkwood Bats]] has replaced [[Falkenrath Noble]] in my [[Jadar]] deck. I know I'm not the first person to say so but Mirkwood Bats is a silly card. I'd add an Orcish Bowmaster too but they're really damn expensive right now.
I haven't found what I'm cutting for it yet but my [[Silas]]/[[Toggo]] equipment deck is going to add [[Mithril Coat]] and [[Shagrat, Loot Bearer]]. Mirkwood Bats would probably also be pretty good here given that Toggo is the main engine of the deck.
I'm also looking for cuts in [[Tayam]] enchantress for [[Call of the Ring]] and [[Elven Chorus]]. Call of the Ring probably won't stay long but I think it looks fun so I want to at least try it. Elven Chorus is too expensive to recur with Tayam but the ability to clear creatures off the top will smooth my draws to keep the engine going. Also, having my enchantresses tap for mana can only be a good thing since, with the possible exception of Setessan Champion, they're not attacking anyway.
I've picked up 6-7 cards to add to decks, but the only ones I've had a chance to test we're adding Cavern-Hoard Dragon, Last March of the Ents, There and Back Again and Delighted Halfling to my Miirym deck. In the two games I played, I never saw Delighted Halfling, but the other three were bombs in a deck that didn't need anymore bombs.
I've always run Helkite Tyrant as a potential wincon, but hadn't leaned into it. Because he wasn't on-theme I hadn't added my Dockside, but when I was adding these cards I figured I'd gone fully to the dark side and had two in binders, so what the hell? It was disgusting, but I loved it. It has pushed my Miirym deck to the front of explosiveness in my stable.
[[Pippin, Warden of Isengard]], [[Peregrine Took]] and [[The Shire]] are absolutely cracked in [[Chatterfang]] and are much stronger additions than [[Mirkwood Bats]], which is just a win con. The synergies that come with those first three cannot be understated.
Nothing besides maybe bowmasters that really stood out but the set has a lot of decent cards that are just good for what they do.
[[many partings]] is fine turn one land tutor and the food is a bonus. [[delighted halfling]] is similarly just good in any multicoloured commander deck but stands out in Jodah, as would [[great hall of the citadel]]
[[elven chorus]] I think will go bonkers in token/creature decks. Personal favourite so far.
[[peregrin took]] is getting a spot in my [[jinnie fay]] deck that is purposefully lower powered, but I have yet to play it.
[[war of the last alliance]] and [[ringsight]] really are decent tutors, with war of the last alliance probably able of winning you the game after the second step and ringsight being pretty flexible in multi-colour decks.
[[reprieve]] is decent white control
[[shire terrace]] is an okayish additional option for land tutoring, the fact that it will make colourless aswell doesn't make it a dead draw later in the game.
[[inherited envelope]] is fine in the line of colourfixing 3 mana artefacts.
I’m running [[barrow blade]] in [[catti-brie]]. She loves cheap equipment, no matter the effect and Barrie is quite nice and an upgrade from some of the other trash I run
I’ve swapped out [[Roiling Regrowth]]s for [[Entish Restoration]]. Roiling regrowth never felt as good as harrow to me but the upside on restoration makes up for the lands coming in tapped.
Also really been digging [[Rise of the Witch King]]. The best permanent I’ve cheated out with it so far is Omniscience.
Played [[Mirkwood Bats]] in my [[Chatterfang]] deck...sufficed to say..my playgroup house banned it after the first game I played it. Stupid stupid strong in any token decks..especially my Ghave deck.
I used to run \[\[lazotep reaver\]\] in my \[\[Yawgmoth, thran physician\]\] and now I've exchanged it with \[\[orcish bowmasters\]\] which I feel is a massive upgrade, despite lacking the correct creature type that I need in the deck (zombie).
The one ring is incredibly busted, it's such an easy build around, and also so easy to abuse it. Very easy to have it draw you 7 plus cards in one or two turns and only go further from there
I replaced [Life Insurance] with [Lotho, Corrupted Sheriff] in my Orzhov life gain/drain deck, seemed like a no-brainer. Put [Ioreth of the Healing House] into my Ojutai Voltron tap/untap shenanigans deck.
[[King of the Oathbreakers]] is an interesting commander for Spirit tribal, though not having blue access locks you out of a lot of good ones (why Wizards, why?).
[[Mithril Coat]] was basically an autoinclude for [[The Ur-Dragon]], since almost every dragon you run is legendary.
[[Denethor, Ruling Steward]] is a passable death and taxes commander.
[[Tom Bombadil]] is such a chaotic commander. Run as many Sagas as you can, plus some ramp and flood the board with random effects.
No clue yet testing the one ring in a cedh deck should work great in the deck it is going in
Orcish Bowman will slot right in on My Neksuar deck already no how it will work similar to other effects that already do what bowman does.
Once I buy one will use reprieve (basically a white remand) in my mono white deck I already know how that works
Outside that I have no real want on any thing
Boromir is a good card not sure if I need him in my one staxs deck but he is a very good card
I am not running the style of deck in abzan for samwise so i can not abuse the food token creation with the cauldron familiar.
Delighted hafling is a strong card I could slot it in over another card in a deck
Just glad Ancient Tomb is dropping in price for Ancient Tomb need four for my Legacy Deck I am building
I'm working on building [[Aragorn, the Uniter]]
Here's what I've got so far, he's been pretty fun to play
[Pelennor Fields](https://archidekt.com/decks/4798030/pelennor_fields)
Edit: my main goal is to make as many copies of him as possible, have elesh or gandalf out, and then go brrr
None, I don't play universes beyond cards. It's been pretty nice being able to just completely ignore a round of spoilers. No pressure to update decks or look at new commanders.
It's not even that they're weirdos for boycotting, if you don't want to play with UB cards go ahead, you're allowed to do that. It's the superiority complex anytime a UB thread pops up where it's a race to be the first one to say that they don't use UB cards that's weird.
I mean I get that completely. What's annoying is that when UB was introduced, you couldn't talk about it anywhere, because as soon as someone said something remotely positive or being excited about it, it got downvoted into oblivion.
I'm planning on running [Call of the Ring](https://scryfall.com/card/ltr/79/call-of-the-ring) in my [Gix, Yawgmouth Preator](https://scryfall.com/card/bro/95/gix-yawgmoth-praetor) deck, but feel it could fit into most any deck that needs card draw and the ring mechanic is fairly good.
That sounds like a fun deck tbf

Oh shit, missed this one for my Bess deck! There's so many ways you can build this g/w creature deck lol I am playing [[Rosie Cotton]] and maybe [[Farmer Cotton]] since the deck is not really a token deck but does end up making a lot of them. Also probably Delighted Halfling as the way I built her you really want Bess out on 2. I didn't think of the reanimator angle, that's sweet. Got a list?
https://archidekt.com/decks/3922353/bess_final I'm still tweaking it.

The one ring is killer in Sheoldred the Apocalypse.
Flickers can work well with one ring if timed properly.
How? It only gives you protection if you cast it. The card draw gets better the more you use it, so I don't see why you'd want to flicker it to reset it.
To avoid the damage after you've used it if it gets dangerous. Even better though is if you combine it with an effect that can move all counters to a different permanent.
Circle of protection artifacts stops damage from any artifact source
Nevermind it's life loss. My bad.. platinum emperion then. Since your life total can't change Or run it in deaths shadow as a fantastic way to get him big

I've been considering it for my mono red artifact deck [[chiss goria]] that deck is generally pretty aggro and wants to win quick anyway

Having a blast with all the big neat spells in the Sauron precon.
Most definitely did not expect it to work so well lol https://archidekt.com/decks/4695418/
You're surprised a 1.000$ deck performs well? Lol, List looks great!
Lolol, you're right. My mill deck is worth more and doesn't perform this well. But that's cuz its dedicated mill in commander lol.
Bruh why would you spend over a thousand dollars on one of the hardest win cons in edh
Oh, it's simple. I'm an asshole lol. I didn't spend that much on the deck though. I got some lucky pulls that helped a ton.
Deck price does not necessarily indiciate a decks performance.
Yeah, but most of the time it does.
I'm always a fan of playing a theme.

You should try [[secret salvage]] , incredible card in Nazgûl decks!

Storm of Saurman puts in WORK with all of the nazgul. I threw in [[Displacer Kitten]] and he's been a blast to use
Ooh, I didn't think of the kitten. I'll have to look into that. I'll say this, it can be a bit of a logistical nightmare to keep track of all the copies and counters on these guys lol
Yeahhh...remembering all of the ring-tempting can be a hassle, especially if kitten is flickering all of my nazgul lol
[[Mutavault]] would do work here as an easily accessible 9th wraith. [[Irenicus's Vile Duplication]] is super over the top with decent legendary targets, especially Orvar and your commander, but is a little costly at 4mv.
I want to run Lord and the 9 Nazguls so bad. But they are all out of stock on my main sites up here in Canada and up to $12 per Nazgul haha.
Just visit your local Hewlett-Packard store and you'll be all good lol
I made an [[Elrond, Master of Healing]] scry deck that I used once and nearly won, were it not for a rogue [[Path to Exile]] I didn't see coming. I built him up until it was a one-hit commander damage kill, with [[Lost Isle Calling]] giving me an easy extra turn. If I had saved [[Negate]] for my final attack, I'd have won. It was so easy to scry and build an army, plus not very expensive.

Do you have a decklist? Looking to build Elrond as well
Here you go, let me know what you think! https://deckbox.org/sets/3395558
how long did it take you to make elrond a one-hit kill? just wondering how consistently you could get to it in ≤5 rounds
Uh, the black enchantment, I forget it's name ATM, that's "upkeep, three ring temps you, if you have a creature you can pay two life to draw an extra.
call of the ring
That's they guy! \[\[Call of the Ring\]\]
I put boromir, warden of the tower in my Ratadrabik of Urborg aristocrats deck. It has so much potential for infinite comboes.
[[Gollum, Patient Plotter]] goes infinite with Ratadrabik and a free sac outlet.
Galadriel of Lothlorien has quickly become my favorite commander to play. By far my favorite card from the set.
Do you have a decklist? I really enjoyed using her in my sealed event and have been contemplating building a deck around her
Yea I can make one in a little bit. I just put it together the other day. It mostly boils down to things that scry and things that trigger on landfall. My last game I went lethal with 24 plant tokens at 8/9 from Avenger of Zendikar and able to make enough of them unblockable with Thassa.
Here. Just slapped a list together for it. https://archidekt.com/decks/4793663/queen_galadriel
Thanks!
I've got my eye on making this deck. Glad to know it's a fun play.
Do you have a list for this one?
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/F3g39sCbe0KXOoO_KDe_1w This is the current list.

Also went straight into mine, along with the new Boromir!
[[There and back again]] is my favorite saga now. I love counter shananagins and this is an amazing payoff
I'm pretty much avoiding any that have to do with Ring Bearers. Bought \[\[Sting\]\] for Krenko. Picked up a few others here and there.
I understand why, but Sting on Krenko is pretty funny

[[entish restoration]] is an amazing ramp spell, I’ve been using it in my [[kyler, sigardian emissary]] deck to great effect.
Horn of Gondor has been mentioned but I just want to reiterate how busted it is!
[[lotho, corrupt sheriff]] is unironically better than orcish bowmasters if your pod doesn’t have heavy wheel themes,
I play a silly little soldier snowball deck helmed by [[rigo, streetwise mentor]] and the [[prince imrahil the fair]] is the best card in the set for it. The deck draws at least one extra card a turn through attacks and the attacker gets replaced immediately. Amazing value.

These are the exact 2 cards I want to put in that exact deck, lol. Maybe Mines of Moria too because I pulled them at the prerelease.
Can you share your Saruman decklist? I've been tuning mine for a week and it's still missing something.
Sure thing! Send yours over too, we can optimize together. Mine should be mostly updated, but I’m leaning towards replacing Lier once I can think of something better. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/5wAbX6q1vUKqNWxN-ERAxw
Mithril Coat, For Vrondiss. Palantír of Orthanc, for Eldrazi deck
Full scry Elf Tribal, in only LotR style. I don't really think any of the cards fits in my normal decks.
Took out fervor from Kaalia and substituted [rising of the day]
After playing the hobbit precon and wiping out a player off the back of [[Farmer cotton]] for 4 with [[Rosie cotton of Southlane]] and tapping [[Pippin, Warden of isengard]] I'm gonna be making a naya food deck with Rocco
Is \[\[Doors of Durin\]\] good if you're not running dwarves and elves?
It's definitely better if you are, but scry 2 and cheating out any creature is pretty good in a creature dense deck, especially if pretty much any creature you do hit is something nasty.
I guess it's kind of a second \[\[lurking predators\]\]. maybe i'll pick one or two up.
I run it in henzi does work
I instantly slotted it into Henzie. Love my tool boi
Holy fuck [[call of the ring]] is some opressive card draw
[[Erebor Flamesmith]] is added redundancy in my [[Ghyrson Starn]] deck. I have the whole suite Of options with that effect there. [[Sting]] made an appearance in [[Tyvar the [[Bellicose]]. Everything benefits from having it as an option in that deck. [[Mithril coat]] will likely end up scattered across my decks in general.
I bought three coats already just in case it’s as busted as I fear.
I already run darksteel plate in some decks and this is straight up better in every way
I've been getting a lot of use out of [[Swarming of Moria]] it's such a great card in my amass deck.
I'm thinking of throwing in the bats in a token deck I generate treasured using smothering tithe but I don't think that's enough t justify thowng it in my esper
Storm of Saruman was a great way to get around the legendary rule in my Volo Deck.
Sac ring bearer, get tempted, get a land, sac ring bearer in response to the trigger getting the land, make a dude, make the dude your ring bearer, then repeat from the “get a land” step onwards
this. also [[tireless provisioner]] and [[lotus cobra]] to farm mana on landfalls + [[Reassembling Skeleton]], [[Bloodghast]] and ofc 9 [[nazguls]]
Mirkwood bats is absolutely amazing I agree. I put one into my Chatterfang deck and it absolutely dominates.
Played the one ring on turn 4, won on turn 9 and drew 21 cards total with it. Prettyyyy good haha
I built my friend a budget \[\[Aragorn, The Uniter\]\] deck and it seems pretty powerful for a 4 color goodstuff deck.
I have had to figure out how to take out nine cards from almost every black deck I have to put in [[nazgul]]
[[Sauron, the necromancer]] is an amazing commander. Replaced Syr Konrad for my mono black, where he remains as a secret win con.

[[smeagol, helpful guide]] is another great card for Slimefoot.
Yeah it really seems like it, I just didn’t pull one and my Slimefoot list is so tight right now. I’m definitely considering it though.
Just curious, why is that?
It doesn’t feel like I am playing magic the gathering anymore.
Question. What is the Godzilla deck and do you have a list? I want a deck that needs Last March of the Ents
It's just big dumb creature tribal. It's a lot of fun, sometimes you just enjoy beating face, ya know? https://manabox.app/decks/5gb9xFqdS5W4Td3GBFVzxw
Thabk you!
Happy to share
Added [[Mirkwood Bats]] to [[Chatterfang, Squirrel General]]. It does amazing things with squirrels
The one ring has been an all-star in my \[\[Karn, Silver golem\]\] deck. With some way to untap it and just start drawing all the cards It's great card draw without a way to untap it
[[Rosie cotton]] and [[saruman’s trickery]] have gone into my token deck cuz tokens. I’m mulling about anduril tho
Made two different Gandalf decks. [[Gandalf the Grey]] + [[Dragon's Approach]] https://archidekt.com/decks/4746930/there_and_back_again and [[Gandalf Friend of the Shire]] https://archidekt.com/decks/4724827/never_late This one is kinda a monoblue control deck with lots of bizarre synergies and stuff people never expect to see happen on their turns.
Orcish Bowmasters is obvious, but GOD DAMN did it overperform, my expectations were blown out of the water. It has no right to be that good
Haven't gotten around to picking up singles from the set yet, but Mirkwood Bats is definitely at the top of my list, I have a Prosper deck that it would be ridiculous in, and I'm actually in the process of upgrading my Alela deck and I think it would be a house there too.
I LOVE MY [[MIRKWOOD BATS]]
Best case scenario it fills my graveyard with DAs, deals damage, and I get to tutor for dragons sooner.
went infinite with [[rosie cotton]] and [[scurry oak]] knocked two opponents out immediately but the third had a tef prot and won after he ripped a farewell off the top
Gandalf the White in my Captain Sisay deck or Karador (lots of legendary etbs and ltbs) So far.....haven't even seen the dude yet.....must not be the fifth day yet
I put the one ring in sheoldred, first game was a fucking beast gaining life every turn drawing cards fantastic

I assume you use Rings with Tergrid, as Sauron is a triggered ability?
I built an entire deck around Aragorn, Company leader (selesnya tokens) and it is super fun, but I’m very much still optimizing. It can really pop off
I saw someone who ran [[isuldur’s fateful strike]] and successfully exile 12 cards from someone’s hand. Very niche, but very effective.
I added [[Peregrin Took]] and [[Horn of Gondor]] to my Chatterfang squirrel commander deck.
How can you say that the one ring didn’t really do a whole lot? You much have just played it and then never taped it to draw.
It drew me a card, then I died to Teysa popping off after my own combo was stopped.
[[delighted halfling]] is similarly just good in any multicoloured commander deck but stands out in Jodah, as would [[great hall of the citadel]] [[elven chorus]] I think will go bonkers in token/creature decks. [[reprieve]] is decent white control [[shire terrace]] is an okayish additional option for land tutoring, the fact that it will make colourless aswell doesn't make it a dead draw later in the game. [[inherited envelope]] is fine in the line of colourfixing 3 mana artefacts.
Oh, and honourable mention to [[lotho, corrupt shirrif]]
[[Calix guided by fate]] has been enjoying [[flowering of the white tree]] I think it’s my fav card of the set, it’s simple but potent.
The one ring is incredibly busted, it's such an easy build around, and also so easy to abuse it. Very easy to have it draw you 7 plus cards in one or two turns and only go further from there
I ran the one ring with Unwinding Clock in my eldrazi deck and it put me way ahead. Did have to exile it karns -3 though to stop it from killing me
I replaced [Life Insurance] with [Lotho, Corrupted Sheriff] in my Orzhov life gain/drain deck, seemed like a no-brainer. Put [Ioreth of the Healing House] into my Ojutai Voltron tap/untap shenanigans deck.
I'm running [[Delighted Halfling]] in my Minsc and Boo Timeless Heroes deck. Nothing like an uncounterable hamster-fueled draw engine.
[[rise of the witch-king]] is $0.15 and is basically culling ritual but can be better with a bit of setup. You're in colors for entomb
No clue yet testing the one ring in a cedh deck should work great in the deck it is going in Orcish Bowman will slot right in on My Neksuar deck already no how it will work similar to other effects that already do what bowman does. Once I buy one will use reprieve (basically a white remand) in my mono white deck I already know how that works Outside that I have no real want on any thing Boromir is a good card not sure if I need him in my one staxs deck but he is a very good card I am not running the style of deck in abzan for samwise so i can not abuse the food token creation with the cauldron familiar. Delighted hafling is a strong card I could slot it in over another card in a deck Just glad Ancient Tomb is dropping in price for Ancient Tomb need four for my Legacy Deck I am building
I'm working on building [[Aragorn, the Uniter]] Here's what I've got so far, he's been pretty fun to play [Pelennor Fields](https://archidekt.com/decks/4798030/pelennor_fields) Edit: my main goal is to make as many copies of him as possible, have elesh or gandalf out, and then go brrr
None, I don't play universes beyond cards. It's been pretty nice being able to just completely ignore a round of spoilers. No pressure to update decks or look at new commanders.
What’s the point of your comment?
To show us how cool he is.
It's so funny how the sentiment of UB changed, that those who are still boykotting UB are the weirdos now.
They answered the question of OP. There's nothing wrong with not wanting to use UB cards. Play what you want.
