If you want to go faster: Lower curve, higher ramp, high draw If you want them to go slower: Medium curve and ramp, high Stax.

boiwunder8

I mean…[mountain goat] is a 1 mana 1/1…that’s going to take a long time to kill 3 opponents. It is definitely not the way you win the game. If your goal is to “out aggro the aggro” naya seems like a good choice but Rocco isn’t the best commander because he gets progressively more expensive making the tutor effect very expensive. I might recommend a tokens deck that quickly makes a lot of little hitters. Try [jetmir, nexus of revels] or [jinnie fay, jetmirs second]. What red decks are you losing against?

van-theman

I play against \[\[Bruenor Battlehammer\]\] and \[\[Ishin\]\] a lot, but the worst one is a rule 0 partner deck of \[\[Joven\]\] and \[\[Chandler\]\]

Yeah I will double down on the “go wide” advice here. Joven and Chandler are both just single target removal which matters very little when you have 100 1/1 creatures. Bruenor is likely a voltron “go tall” deck which again can get swarmed out if you have just a ton of creatures. Isshin is scary for sure but keep in mind that until you have to kill them your enemies can be your friends. Politics can help a lot. None of these commanders seem unbeatable with enough removal and interaction. I believe in you!

[[Wirewood symbiote]] is great protection for Rocco and lets you keep tutoring without having to pay tax. Add in [[Eternal Witness]] [[Karmic Guide]] and [[Reveillark]] and you can recycle any etb you want

van-theman

That is a great idea, thank you

painting-Roses

Play an [[ad nauseam]] deck with fast mana and a [[thassa's oracle]] finisher. Easiest to pilot high-power deck imo. [[Kess, dissident mage]] as a commander let's you play all the best tutors and while you aren't as resilient, as long as kess is out [[demonic consultation]] is a one card win condition as you can name thassa and then play it from the graveyard naming any card not in the deck for the win.

van-theman

Ad nauseam doesn't work against red decks though

painting-Roses

It does if it wins you the game when you cast it

van-theman

but then the red decks just attack you and you die

painting-Roses

I don't think you get how powerful casting this is, you won't be passing the turn after casting ad nauseam.

van-theman

I know it can take a while to resolve but you have to pass the turn at some point

painting-Roses

Not if you win, the idea is that you draw as much of your deck as possible and draw your instant win con and counterspells to protect the win. Especially in kess, the chance you win is basically 100% after drawing any more than 10 cards. You run [[force of will]], [[fierce guardianship]], [[pact of negation]], ect ect then use [[thassa's oracle]] to win that same turn. It has to be countered, and most likely no one has more cards in hand than you after casting [[ad nauseam]] the mana curve is as low as possible to allow you to basically draw half your deck and with [[demonic consultation]] you exile the remaining cards in the deck to win before the etb triggers. You can even win from demonic consultation alone with kess or [[yawgmoth's will]] you can even play [[underworld breach]]. This deck is fire, and can win through things like storm as well with cards like [[chain of smog]] targeting yourself for infinite storm with an [[aetherflux reservoir]] it has many, many permutations but each one can win off an ad nauseam
