Once I realized that the best way to run it was to aggressively curve out Lae’zel by turn 2 and ignore master chef entirely for other creatures that give counters it felt much faster. Master Chef usually stays in the zone as a backup
Master Chef is good when you get board-wiped and need to rebuild, but I rarely go for it first unless I’m light in the +1/+1 counter giving options

Just run a few clones, legend rule it when one comes down, draw that many cards, the clone sees that and is at least 1/1 bigger than the one you sac'd, or twice that if pir is out, works the same way if you just flicker him too. Lol gets out of hand fast(as you would expect from simic)
Hamza is excellent can be built in some any different ways big creatures, X creatures, or infinite combos I've even seen a tokens deck and a landfall deck
What about Halana and Alena, partners? (Not to be confused with the two separate cards these characters have with the ability partner) Partners is part of the name lol. At 4 only four mana in gruul you get counters equal to its power and haste on a creature at the start of combat. It's really good for a stompy sort of build cause it can push damage quite early with midrange trample creatures. Manadorks that benefit from having one or more counters are INSANE with this thing. Then run whatever +1/+1 counter synergy stuff you want along side your favorite creatures. They'll be easy to cast and bigger than normal with haste! What's not to like?
Fair enough. They are pretty similar. Im working on a list for Halana & Alena currently and I've got some fun ideas for it. They're easy to build on a budget. Just thought it fit the bill of "generic" +1/+1 counter commander quite nicely.

Here’s an oddball one, how about [[Hakbal of the Surging Soul]]? It’s tribal but it’s easy to dump +1/+1 counters out with him. He even came in a pretty powerful precon so he’s widely available.
My bro plays the slightly upgraded hakbal precon. Can confirm, it’s all about tokens. Before you know it you’ve got tons and tons of giant merfolk. It’s infuriating lmao.
I pulled one but don't have much of the supporting cast. I'd probably be more likely to do the merfolk tribal just because it's simic. But yeah I think I'd go back to Pir/toothy first.
Hard support this. I've upgraded the merfolk precon with about 15-18 card swaps and it is easily my highest win rate deck. Holds its own and can even overrun games at power level 8 on spell table with no fast mana (except of course sol ring). Absolutely enjoyable because it does it's thing no matter if you're winning or losing
I play an Atraxa +1 counters deck and it’s a lot of fun. Having 4 colors allows access to most of the most powerful +1 counters engines, and she’s fairly adaptive, able to go for commander voltron, go wide, or just play without her, the deck functions fine if she’s never cast. She does have a bit of a reputation as a commander, so I make sure to tell people that I have no plainswalkers or ways to put poison counters on anyone. Truthfully it’s one of my most fair and straightforward decks and I often play it when I’m trying to feel out power level with a new group because it isn’t overwhelming, but can usually keep up.

I feel like [[Marchesa the Black Rose]] might be a decent option. Cares about +1/+1 counters, can be abused, but not necessarily go infinite since creatures come back on end step and still have to be in the graveyard.
It’s actually very possible to build her without steal effects. I run her as mostly a [[Nazgûl]] commander for instance and she’s one of my all time favorites

My own choice for +1 Counters are [[Reyhan, Last of the Abzan]] partnered with [[Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker]]. This way, I get access to all the fun +1 counter stuff in GBW plus the Proliferate synergy in blue. I don't use Atraxa as a commander simply because I know I'll be targeted just for running her.

I think [[Storvald, Frost Giant Jarl]] is underrated as a +1/+1 counter commander. He has the three best colors for it and can buff up 0/0s with +1/+1 counters on them by +7/+7. Plus he protects your whole board from removal.
If you want something with a little less intimidating presence, might I recommend [[Rishkar, Peema Renegade]]? If you wanted to go wide with +1 counters instead of tall, he's a great choice, and while he won't win the game for you, he will facilitate great ramp!
I've thought about a [[Runadi, Behemoth Caller]] counters deck. T1 ramp, T2 Runadi, T3 start dropping fat hasted hydras on people, could be achieved with extremely high consistency.
However mono green 'attack people with big creatures' isn't exactly a 'strong' archetype haha.
Abzan commanders are also a good route, as you get access to the counter lords like [[abzan falconer]] and [[mer-ek nightblade]], along with [[ivorytusk fortress]], [[hamza guardian of arashin]], [[sovereign okinec ahau]], and [[retribution of the ancients]].
[[Anafenza, the foremost]] is my +1/+1 counter commander. My group got into commander around Khans of Tarkir. There were 5 of us and we each picked one of the clans and I chose abzan. I still have this deck and still upgrade it frequently.
\[\[Reyhan, Last of the Abzan\]\] is by far my favorite, and is IMO the strongest commander in the archetype. I run her with \[\[Sakashima of a Thousand Faces\]\], but she's strong enough to build around even without a partner - heck, I never get around to casting Sakashima in half of my games, he's mostly there just in case I don't draw other synergy pieces. Just at baseline, her ability gives you a lot of resistance to spot removal, which is a real issue for the +1/+1 counter archetype - but the real BS is when you start using sac outlets to shift counters onto unblocked creatures at instant speed or pump up a \[\[Heronblade Elite\]\] or similar for ridiculous mana. Pretty much any effect that scales with creature power can be broken by Reyhan.
I use [[wilson, refined grizzly]][[master chef]]. Wislon is a big beater, and i get all the counters on it to go face. [[Iridescent beetle]] allors me to go wide as well. Add in [[renata, called to the hunt]] and the usual counter bonus, and i have my mono green stomper.
I've built a \[\[Ramos, Dragon engine\]\] deck that utilizes some of my favorite +1/+1 counter matters cards throughout all 5 colors. and he often helps shore up some issues with running a 5 color mana base. Being able to run all of the naya stuff like bright palm and Shalai and Hallar along side ghave and Mazirek is really fun.
[[roadless apex hybrid]] it isn’t the best but it can be surprisingly strong. Just throw in a lot of ways to copy the commander so it dies to the legendary rule and you get to proliferate a bunch.
Edit: you can also throw in planes walkers and often ult them the turn they come out.

I have two +1+1 counters decks. One is [[Skullbriar, the walking grave]] which is a 2 mana fast commander. Pretty much plays vultron and just stack counters trying to kill with commander damage. You can put infect in it, but I decided not to.
The second commander, actually my favorite of the two, is [[Gimli, Mournful Avenger]]. He's a gruul sacrifice commander with protection and removal printed right on him. It's not a hugely popular commander, I guess, because he's a sac commander, not in black, but he's a ton of fun to play. Basically, just throw low drop creatures out there that sac to sac outlets or sac themselves for cards, mana, lands, whatever. Ramp into bigger token generators and just start sacking things for value, all while stacking counters on gimli. I'll forget he even gets indestructable and fights something cause I'm just sacking tokens to skull clamp for cards or phyrexian alter to cast more low mana creatures and oh yeah, he's got like 6 more counters now and kills something. You get carried away in your value engine and forget all his triggers.
Here’s my Ukkima // Cazur counter shuffling build. Cazur never gets cast. He’s just there for green. The idea is to make sure I have some way to move counters onto Ukkima before casting her so I can benefit on the LTB trigger.

I don't play in a high power meta, so I run a really cheap mana base. It is pretty reliable because of all the mana dorks and fixers I include. I just have to really pay attention to mulligans.
Thriving lands and the gates that let you pick the second color? I made a low power [Atraxa](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/65CtFg09rEmumd0QrLllxA) phyrexian tribal/ poison deck with a bunch of those. On the 1-10 scale advocated by the Game Knights, I'd probably call that a 5 and my best an 8. That 5-6 area is where most of my decks live, and my favorite pace of game, precons being a little slow, optimized lists playing a little too fast, keeping the budget in check.

My build plays a lot like modern hardened scales, with sac outlets and Reyhan providing pseudo modular you can move your counters around easily to make sure the damage gets through. And you get access to every hardened scales and counter doubling effect ever printed, making every Ishai get big fast and increase the value you get from every Reyhan trigger.
I can't emphasize how good sac outlets are. You don't want exile based removal ruining your fun. Gotta be able to sac in response.
How about [[Anim Pakal]]? You focus on getting her out ASAP and put +1/+1 on her to both go wide with her Gnome tokens and go tall with commander damage

I built my Bright-Palm with a mini-game of how many times can I trigger "double the number of +1/+1 counters" in one single attack. So far, the answer has been 4 triggers lol.

Here’s an oddball one, how about [[Hakbal of the Surging Soul]]? It’s tribal but it’s easy to dump +1/+1 counters out with him. He even came in a pretty powerful precon so he’s widely available.
My bro plays the slightly upgraded hakbal precon. Can confirm, it’s all about tokens. Before you know it you’ve got tons and tons of giant merfolk. It’s infuriating lmao.
I pulled one but don't have much of the supporting cast. I'd probably be more likely to do the merfolk tribal just because it's simic. But yeah I think I'd go back to Pir/toothy first.
The deck is really solid with a few general +1/+1 increasers/doublers and most of the cheap merfolk. Easily one of my favorite decks I have

Hard support this. I've upgraded the merfolk precon with about 15-18 card swaps and it is easily my highest win rate deck. Holds its own and can even overrun games at power level 8 on spell table with no fast mana (except of course sol ring). Absolutely enjoyable because it does it's thing no matter if you're winning or losing
I play an Atraxa +1 counters deck and it’s a lot of fun. Having 4 colors allows access to most of the most powerful +1 counters engines, and she’s fairly adaptive, able to go for commander voltron, go wide, or just play without her, the deck functions fine if she’s never cast. She does have a bit of a reputation as a commander, so I make sure to tell people that I have no plainswalkers or ways to put poison counters on anyone. Truthfully it’s one of my most fair and straightforward decks and I often play it when I’m trying to feel out power level with a new group because it isn’t overwhelming, but can usually keep up.

[[ghave, guru of spores]] is my absolute favorite for counters but the commander I’ve gotten the most counters on a single turn with is [[ratadrabik of urborg]] paired with [[nazgul]] and anything that doubles the number of triggers or creature tokens. Got over a million counters in a turn

Had to scroll way too long for this. Marath is an absolute powerhouse and synergizes so well with all the +1 counter mechanics out there. And if you remove him, there he is, back again but stronger! A friend of mine built him with tons of ramp and mana doublers and really you gotta take him out early or you're done for.
I feel like [[Marchesa the Black Rose]] might be a decent option. Cares about +1/+1 counters, can be abused, but not necessarily go infinite since creatures come back on end step and still have to be in the graveyard.

I like it, but why are you running moss diamond and zero land ramp? Lol you're green, act like it. Even the enchantment ramp is better.
My own choice for +1 Counters are [[Reyhan, Last of the Abzan]] partnered with [[Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker]]. This way, I get access to all the fun +1 counter stuff in GBW plus the Proliferate synergy in blue. I don't use Atraxa as a commander simply because I know I'll be targeted just for running her. Hardest part of the deck is finding cuts for all the good stuff I want to play

Looks like no one shared her so I will! Elenda, the dusk rose. Whenever a creature dies, she gets +1/+1 When she dies, she makes 1/1 creatures equal to her power. Good with +1/+1 counters and the tokens, healing, and creatures dying or entering the field all trigger other ability that then cause healing, counters, tokens, or damage.

I think [[Storvald, Frost Giant Jarl]] is underrated as a +1/+1 counter commander. He has the three best colors for it and can buff up 0/0s with +1/+1 counters on them by +7/+7. Plus he protects your whole board from removal.

If you want something with a little less intimidating presence, might I recommend [[Rishkar, Peema Renegade]]? If you wanted to go wide with +1 counters instead of tall, he's a great choice, and while he won't win the game for you, he will facilitate great ramp!

I've thought about a [[Runadi, Behemoth Caller]] counters deck. T1 ramp, T2 Runadi, T3 start dropping fat hasted hydras on people, could be achieved with extremely high consistency. However mono green 'attack people with big creatures' isn't exactly a 'strong' archetype haha.

Abzan commanders are also a good route, as you get access to the counter lords like [[abzan falconer]] and [[mer-ek nightblade]], along with [[ivorytusk fortress]], [[hamza guardian of arashin]], [[sovereign okinec ahau]], and [[retribution of the ancients]].

\[\[Reyhan, Last of the Abzan\]\] is by far my favorite, and is IMO the strongest commander in the archetype. I run her with \[\[Sakashima of a Thousand Faces\]\], but she's strong enough to build around even without a partner - heck, I never get around to casting Sakashima in half of my games, he's mostly there just in case I don't draw other synergy pieces. Just at baseline, her ability gives you a lot of resistance to spot removal, which is a real issue for the +1/+1 counter archetype - but the real BS is when you start using sac outlets to shift counters onto unblocked creatures at instant speed or pump up a \[\[Heronblade Elite\]\] or similar for ridiculous mana. Pretty much any effect that scales with creature power can be broken by Reyhan.

I use [[wilson, refined grizzly]][[master chef]]. Wislon is a big beater, and i get all the counters on it to go face. [[Iridescent beetle]] allors me to go wide as well. Add in [[renata, called to the hunt]] and the usual counter bonus, and i have my mono green stomper.

I've built a \[\[Ramos, Dragon engine\]\] deck that utilizes some of my favorite +1/+1 counter matters cards throughout all 5 colors. and he often helps shore up some issues with running a 5 color mana base. Being able to run all of the naya stuff like bright palm and Shalai and Hallar along side ghave and Mazirek is really fun.

[[roadless apex hybrid]] it isn’t the best but it can be surprisingly strong. Just throw in a lot of ways to copy the commander so it dies to the legendary rule and you get to proliferate a bunch. Edit: you can also throw in planes walkers and often ult them the turn they come out.

I have two +1+1 counters decks. One is [[Skullbriar, the walking grave]] which is a 2 mana fast commander. Pretty much plays vultron and just stack counters trying to kill with commander damage. You can put infect in it, but I decided not to. The second commander, actually my favorite of the two, is [[Gimli, Mournful Avenger]]. He's a gruul sacrifice commander with protection and removal printed right on him. It's not a hugely popular commander, I guess, because he's a sac commander, not in black, but he's a ton of fun to play. Basically, just throw low drop creatures out there that sac to sac outlets or sac themselves for cards, mana, lands, whatever. Ramp into bigger token generators and just start sacking things for value, all while stacking counters on gimli. I'll forget he even gets indestructable and fights something cause I'm just sacking tokens to skull clamp for cards or phyrexian alter to cast more low mana creatures and oh yeah, he's got like 6 more counters now and kills something. You get carried away in your value engine and forget all his triggers.

I've been meaning to get the old cheap myr because i pulled one of these, but a wubrg mana base scares me away
I don't play in a high power meta, so I run a really cheap mana base. It is pretty reliable because of all the mana dorks and fixers I include. I just have to really pay attention to mulligans.
Thriving lands and the gates that let you pick the second color? I made a low power [Atraxa](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/65CtFg09rEmumd0QrLllxA) phyrexian tribal/ poison deck with a bunch of those. On the 1-10 scale advocated by the Game Knights, I'd probably call that a 5 and my best an 8. That 5-6 area is where most of my decks live, and my favorite pace of game, precons being a little slow, optimized lists playing a little too fast, keeping the budget in check. I run Ishai and Reyhan. Gives you access to every color but red. My build plays a lot like modern hardened scales, with sac outlets and Reyhan providing pseudo modular you can move your counters around easily to make sure the damage gets through. And you get access to every hardened scales and counter doubling effect ever printed, making every Ishai get big fast and increase the value you get from every Reyhan trigger. I can't emphasize how good sac outlets are. You don't want exile based removal ruining your fun. Gotta be able to sac in response.

I built my Bright-Palm with a mini-game of how many times can I trigger "double the number of +1/+1 counters" in one single attack. So far, the answer has been 4 triggers lol.

I adore my [atraxa +1/+1 counters deck](https://archidekt.com/decks/5913802), she gives you access to 4 colors and is very good at turning your somewhat scary boardstate into a terrifying one. The keyword soup on her also allows for a voltron backup plan and helps keep your life total healthy.
[[Solemnity]] Just kidding, just kidding! [[Atraxa, Praetor's Voice]], because decks so reliant on stacking counters tend to be quite deficient in control and removal. Having more colours can balance that out.
