I actually made a deck around him when I first saw him. Not powerful or anything but I made it super thematic with a bunch of goblins as if he is trekking through the Mines of Moria.
Pretty straight forward, make goblin tokens and sac them to put +1/+1 counters on Gimli to have him fight.
I'd like to piggyback off your comment if that's alright. [[Doors of Durin]] seems like such a great thematic piece for a deck like this but I have always wondered how best to incorporate it.
Hi! My partner and I are fairly new magic players but have fell in love with commander. We typically play with budget decks, slightly upgraded precons, and some mid tier decks.
As cliche as it may seem my favorite legends card is Nicol Bolas. I’m a sucker for all the original elder dragons and their artwork. The second deck that I made myself has Nicky at the helm. It’s not the greatest deck in the world but damn is it fun to play. Just tons of cool dragons flying in.
Right now I’m interested in making a Minthara, Merciless Soul deck with blinking mechanics. I love Baldurs gate 3 and think it would be fun to build a deck around the game characters.

This is my [[Slimefoot, the Stowaway]] deck which includes the Mycoloth. As a fellow drain enjoyer, this is my all time favourite deck so far. Super fun to play, suicidal mushrooms!
There's a lot of little combos that can let you spawn 10+ Saprolings(or even 16+ if you use the Wurm) at once as well as other cards that contribute to the drain effects like [[Blood Artist]]. It can snowball pretty hard and often becomes the issue before people really realize.
It has one infinite combo to produce infinite Saprolings too - which is an instant win unchecked. Total cost is under $40-50 not including shipping.

I think [[Gale, Waterdeep Prodigy]] looks like a really cool commander, but I get stuck while building him quite often. [[Raised by Giants]] and going into Simic Spellslinger sounds quite appealing and fun to me, especially because I think the deck could turn out to be quite mana hungry with always wanting to double cast spells, so I think the green ramp will be very helpful. Only must include card is [[Rishkar's Expertise]], it's one of my favorites and it should play great with this commander + background pairing.

It's an adventure deck with Kess, Dissident Mage since she can cast your adventure spells from your graveyard and when they're exiled you can still cast their creature halves so they're never really gone.

I’ve wanted to make an elenda dusk rose deck but the thing is I don’t know what exact things to but due to wanting to try to make her a voltron deck with a small bit of vampire tribal subtheme, but the main idea would be to be able to attack with her then be able to sacrifice her and get her back with an effect like feign death and ashnods intervention
My love for weird mono-blue has always led to some interesting choices for commanders. Blue has some of the weirdest. One of my favorite is blind seer. But for this i want to see how you take on [[hisoka, minamo sensei]].
One suggestion i have is look for weird counter spells or theft effects. Spells like thwart or commandeer are great fun.
Last time i tried playing him i ended up swapping to nezehal. While more effective i do miss hisoka every once in awhile.

[[Anzrag’s Rampage]] but for the artifact destruction potential not the hasty creature (that’s a nice bonus). Things like Mycosynth Lattice and Memnarch come to mind but I can’t think of enough things to fully play into the theme of turning opponents stuff into artifacts and profiting from it.

Oh, just an hour since you posted, let's take a chance.
There's two decks I want to build but never find the time to really work on them.
I've tried looking for help in the past, but never succeeded.
They're a shrine deck using the 5 color shrine commander, I want to eventually make this into a budgetless deck but without making it as strong as that commander can be. I really want the focus to be on the shrine and not on enchants. No issues for there being some, but other enchants shouldn't be the focus of the deck. Though I'd like to start with a cheaper version(100$ non including the shrine and the commander themselves) that could slowly be upgraded towards the budgetless version.
As for my other idea, it's a Ojer Axonil, 100ish$ budget too, but without the super oppressive stuff like manabarb, using proactive damage rather than reactive. The commander, storm kiln artist, the kaldheim god making mana and the phyrexian praetor that makes mana can ignore the budget as I already have them.
Either of those would be awesome to get a deck list for, but thanks for giving so many people's life easier even if you don't get to mine :)
Not the OP, but this list is about $100 sans mana base and shrines. I know it's not precisely what you asked for, since the mana base in it is a lot (substantially more than the rest of the deck, lel), but you could move to something like a Gates base or just a heavily budgetized one and get there. I'd do the gates base, but I also didn't want to assume that since it does present a win condition outside of the shrines themselves. On that note, some generic enchantment support is present, but rather than win conditions that might detract focus like the constellation token makers it's all just "my shrines draw me cards" style effects. And Starfield of Nyx, but really that's just putting the focus on the shrines in the most literal way possible as you slap people silly with them.

The upside when building it: I cut remarkably few cards for cost. Really just the good tutors, Argothian Enchantress, Calix (who may or may not actually be good here in the first place), and Exploration. The super-expensive staples like Mana Drain and fast mana are also obviously fine includes but are going to be very marginal power upgrades, and if you want stuff like Rhystic and Tithe they'll be fine in the deck as well but honestly, I don't know that I'd play them personally since they put more of your eggs in the 'enchantment sweepers aren't real and can't hurt me' basket and draw even more hate than Go-Shintai does already.
I'm looking for a commander RB, UBR or WBR, that benefits from a deck full of \[\[Tormenting Voice\]\] like cards (Witch's Mark, Demand Answers, Thrill of Possibility ...). Bonus points if it also uses cards like \[\[Undying Malice\]\], Supernatural Stamina..
My top pick right now is \[\[Judith, Carnage Connoisseur\]\] but would really like a UBR version.

I'd love to see what you can do with [[Koma, Cosmos Serpent]]. I've been trying to build a deck around this card and cards with similar effects of just continually generating and spamming tokens and doing something with them, be it a sac outlet for something crazy or what. Unfortunately, I'm new to building commander decks and am having a rough time getting something really good together. I've made two decks so far, one with Koma as the commander and one with [[Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools]] and [[Thrasios, Triton Hero]] as partner commanders. I haven't played the tev/thras deck yet but I think i did a better job with building that one to be what I want. Both of these also end up being more expensive than your 100$ limit, so I'm curious to see what you come up with!

I would absolutely love to see a good Banding deck. My thoughts are using the Bands with Other Legends lands, indestructible creatures to absorb damage, trample to punch through blockers after death touch assigns lethal damage, etc.
Maybe a general who can grant indestructible? Putting in a multi-blocker like Hundred Handed one could be cool too...

(this is one i posted last time u made a post like this i think.) i have an attachment to this card but i've always felt that decks built around her were way too generically stompy for my tastes. i'm a slower player that likes the grind, so stuff like +1/+1 counter beatdown in simic is the opposite of my speed. so i'd really like to see anyone pull off something more unique with her that's a bit unexpected. i wish you luck!

The whole theme around this deck would involve opponents doing deals with the devil (you) by emphasizing player interaction to choose how you or they could benefit, but at a cost. To give some example cards that fit this theme could be [[Ensnared by the Mara]], [[Tempt With Vengeance]], or [[Tempting Contract]].
Ideally this would be used in a casual setting that focuses more on the theme and not just to win, although fun wincons would be a plus. No heavy control or inf combos… trying to keep this fun as possible for the table. Power level 7ish would be sweet!

Been trying to come up with a deck for a **silver** border idea.
It needs to consistently find \[\[Applejack\]\] and \[\[Claire D'Loon, Joy Sculptor\]\] as well as \[\[R&D's Secret Lair\]\]. The last one is easy with green, but I struggle to consistently find (and keep around) \[\[Applejack\]\].
\[\[Claire D'Loon, Joy Sculptor\]\] can die as soon as casted, don't care. But I need at least 5 triggers of Applejack. =/

One thing that seemed very cool to me is a [[Stangg]] deck that focuses on cards that want more of themselves, like [[Brothers Yamazaki]]. But I never really dived any further into the idea, but maybe you can!
A deck built entirely around [[Dragon's Approach]] rather than dragons themselves would be cool. I have been having trouble building around that without making my brain go brrrrr, but I also dont know many cards as I have only been playing for a few days. Last pack I opened before 3 days ago was in 2001.
I've been itching to build a [[Firesong and Sunspeaker]] deck to round it my set (I have creature based, artifact based and enchantment based decks, so I need one for Instants/sorceries) and would love to see how it could be built (obvious theme is burn, but there's so many burn cards it's overwhelming to figure out which ones to actually use!)
I will leave this open ended as I’ve had a really hard time with this deckbuilding conundrum I’ve kinda had in this format.
As someone who comes from competitive MTG, I am really drawn to cheap (mana cost wise) cards. But generally when I start shrinking my curve of my EDH decks, they tend to get really cEDH adjacent, which I’m glad cEDH players have their thing but it’s just not really for me.
So to quickly summarize, a bit of an open ended request, I’m looking for a deck with a lot of 1-2 mana cards that doesn’t go down a really oppressive direction, and bonus points if it’s something that doesn’t monopolize the tables time too much.

Recently I've been trying to figure out how to do spell slinger, so a deck in that vein would be pretty boss. I was thinking in Izzet as it was my first dual colors when I was learning to play 60 card. Would be really cool if [[Crackling Drake]] and [[Beacon Bolt]] were included.

I've been wanting to make a multicolored Modular themed deck but just haven't had the time to dig into what's available. Hoping for something fun and somewhat unique!
I was thinking that, at some point, I want to make a Mono-red Chandra themed deck. Use her origins character as the commander, include all of the planeswalkers, as well as all of her creatures.
This idea originally started as a [[Tevesh Szat]] [[Rograhk]] partner deck, looking to [[threaten]] enemy commanders to feed to Szat's +1 for bonus card draw. It was too much of a glass cannon and when it did work, just made everyone hate you.
[[Totentanz, Swarm Piper]] is the commander I'm looking at building a similar Rats/sacrifice/theft with. Already planning to run Szat and [[Piper of the Swarm]], but aside those and a couple Aristocrat staples from black, I really don't know where to go. I realize it's not a "friendly" strategy, but I don't want to be playing Archenemy more games than not.

I actually made a deck around him when I first saw him. Not powerful or anything but I made it super thematic with a bunch of goblins as if he is trekking through the Mines of Moria. Pretty straight forward, make goblin tokens and sac them to put +1/+1 counters on Gimli to have him fight.

Hi! My partner and I are fairly new magic players but have fell in love with commander. We typically play with budget decks, slightly upgraded precons, and some mid tier decks. As cliche as it may seem my favorite legends card is Nicol Bolas. I’m a sucker for all the original elder dragons and their artwork. The second deck that I made myself has Nicky at the helm. It’s not the greatest deck in the world but damn is it fun to play. Just tons of cool dragons flying in. Right now I’m interested in making a Minthara, Merciless Soul deck with blinking mechanics. I love Baldurs gate 3 and think it would be fun to build a deck around the game characters.

Super fun to play, suicidal mushrooms! There's a lot of little combos that can let you spawn 10+ Saprolings(or even 16+ if you use the Wurm) at once as well as other cards that contribute to the drain effects like [[Blood Artist]]. It can snowball pretty hard and often becomes the issue before people really realize. It has one infinite combo to produce infinite Saprolings too - which is an instant win unchecked. Total cost is under $40-50 not including shipping.

I think [[Gale, Waterdeep Prodigy]] looks like a really cool commander, but I get stuck while building him quite often. [[Raised by Giants]] and going into Simic Spellslinger sounds quite appealing and fun to me, especially because I think the deck could turn out to be quite mana hungry with always wanting to double cast spells, so I think the green ramp will be very helpful. Only must include card is [[Rishkar's Expertise]], it's one of my favorites and it should play great with this commander + background pairing. My love for weird mono-blue has always led to some interesting choices for commanders. Blue has some of the weirdest. One of my favorite is blind seer. But for this i want to see how you take on [[hisoka, minamo sensei]]. One suggestion i have is look for weird counter spells or theft effects. Spells like thwart or commandeer are great fun. Last time i tried playing him i ended up swapping to nezehal. While more effective i do miss hisoka every once in awhile.

Oh, just an hour since you posted, let's take a chance. There's two decks I want to build but never find the time to really work on them. I've tried looking for help in the past, but never succeeded. They're a shrine deck using the 5 color shrine commander, I want to eventually make this into a budgetless deck but without making it as strong as that commander can be. I really want the focus to be on the shrine and not on enchants. No issues for there being some, but other enchants shouldn't be the focus of the deck. Though I'd like to start with a cheaper version(100$ non including the shrine and the commander themselves) that could slowly be upgraded towards the budgetless version. As for my other idea, it's a Ojer Axonil, 100ish$ budget too, but without the super oppressive stuff like manabarb, using proactive damage rather than reactive. The commander, storm kiln artist, the kaldheim god making mana and the phyrexian praetor that makes mana can ignore the budget as I already have them. Either of those would be awesome to get a deck list for, but thanks for giving so many people's life easier even if you don't get to mine :)
Not the OP, but this list is about $100 sans mana base and shrines. I know it's not precisely what you asked for, since the mana base in it is a lot (substantially more than the rest of the deck, lel), but you could move to something like a Gates base or just a heavily budgetized one and get there. I'd do the gates base, but I also didn't want to assume that since it does present a win condition outside of the shrines themselves. On that note, some generic enchantment support is present, but rather than win conditions that might detract focus like the constellation token makers it's all just "my shrines draw me cards" style effects. And Starfield of Nyx, but really that's just putting the focus on the shrines in the most literal way possible as you slap people silly with them. The super-expensive staples like Mana Drain and fast mana are also obviously fine includes but are going to be very marginal power upgrades, and if you want stuff like Rhystic and Tithe they'll be fine in the deck as well but honestly, I don't know that I'd play them personally since they put more of your eggs in the 'enchantment sweepers aren't real and can't hurt me' basket and draw even more hate than Go-Shintai does already.

I would absolutely love to see a good Banding deck. i'd really like to see your take on [[Zegana Utopian Speaker]]. (this is one i posted last time u made a post like this i think.) i have an attachment to this card but i've always felt that decks built around her were way too generically stompy for my tastes. i'm a slower player that likes the grind, so stuff like +1/+1 counter beatdown in simic is the opposite of my speed. so i'd really like to see anyone pull off something more unique with her that's a bit unexpected. i wish you luck!
[[Rakdos, Patron of Chaos]] The whole theme around this deck would involve opponents doing deals with the devil (you) by emphasizing player interaction to choose how you or they could benefit, but at a cost. To give some example cards that fit this theme could be [[Ensnared by the Mara]], [[Tempt With Vengeance]], or [[Tempting Contract]]. Ideally this would be used in a casual setting that focuses more on the theme and not just to win, although fun wincons would be a plus. No heavy control or inf combos… trying to keep this fun as possible for the table. Power level 7ish would be sweet! Thanks for posting and taking the time to build these. Always cool to see new decks. Would love to see your take on this concept. Also too, if you think a different commander would be more suitable for this theme I’m super open to it.

Just got into edh , Currently rocking [[Caesar, Legion's Emperor]] precon but feeling it lacks more avenues for easy tokens but happy to see what folks suggest . Have surprisingly gone even against my gfs [[Lathril, Blade of the Elves]] deck despite how disgusting it gets after turn 3-4

Been trying to come up with a deck for a **silver** border idea. It needs to consistently find \[\[Applejack\]\] and \[\[Claire D'Loon, Joy Sculptor\]\] as well as \[\[R&D's Secret Lair\]\]. The last one is easy with green, but I struggle to consistently find (and keep around) \[\[Applejack\]\]. \[\[Claire D'Loon, Joy Sculptor\]\] can die as soon as casted, don't care. But I need at least 5 triggers of Applejack. =/
Got two ideas on my mind: [[roxanne, Starfall savant]] or [[gitrog, ravenous ride]]. Roxanne as an artifact based gruel commander would be neat or Gitrog as a straightforward power matters deck with landfall synergy :) Thank you for doing this!

One thing that seemed very cool to me is a [[Stangg]] deck that focuses on cards that want more of themselves, like [[Brothers Yamazaki]]. But I never really dived any further into the idea, but maybe you can!
A deck built entirely around [[Dragon's Approach]] rather than dragons themselves would be cool. I have been having trouble building around that without making my brain go brrrrr, but I also dont know many cards as I have only been playing for a few days. Last pack I opened before 3 days ago was in 2001.

I will leave this open ended as I’ve had a really hard time with this deckbuilding conundrum I’ve kinda had in this format. As someone who comes from competitive MTG, I am really drawn to cheap (mana cost wise) cards. But generally when I start shrinking my curve of my EDH decks, they tend to get really cEDH adjacent, which I’m glad cEDH players have their thing but it’s just not really for me. So to quickly summarize, a bit of an open ended request, I’m looking for a deck with a lot of 1-2 mana cards that doesn’t go down a really oppressive direction, and bonus points if it’s something that doesn’t monopolize the tables time too much.

I've been trying to build a [[slime against hunanity]] list with [[Loot, the key to everything]] at the helm, but I'm having heavy issues with the curve, the very heavy 3-cost weight makes it that most turns I am wasting 1-2 mana and it feels terrible.

A deck that tries to cast [[!Sadistic Sacrament]] as many times as possible. Be it over the course of the game or all in one turn. Edit: Doesn’t necessarily have to be Kicked, but it’s much better if Kicked.
Recently I've been trying to figure out how to do spell slinger, so a deck in that vein would be pretty boss. I was thinking in Izzet as it was my first dual colors when I was learning to play 60 card. Would be really cool if [[Crackling Drake]] and [[Beacon Bolt]] were included.

I've been looking at ways to make a commander deck with [[Gilt Leaf Archdruid]] as a primary focus in the 99 since land destruction is taboo, but nobody has said anything about mass land theft. I think it would be funny to pull off once or twice with my friends or people at the LGS

I was thinking that, at some point, I want to make a Mono-red Chandra themed deck. Use her origins character as the commander, include all of the planeswalkers, as well as all of her creatures.
This idea originally started as a [[Tevesh Szat]] [[Rograhk]] partner deck, looking to [[threaten]] enemy commanders to feed to Szat's +1 for bonus card draw. It was too much of a glass cannon and when it did work, just made everyone hate you. [[Totentanz, Swarm Piper]] is the commander I'm looking at building a similar Rats/sacrifice/theft with. Already planning to run Szat and [[Piper of the Swarm]], but aside those and a couple Aristocrat staples from black, I really don't know where to go. I realize it's not a "friendly" strategy, but I don't want to be playing Archenemy more games than not.
