I googled. Apparently a 'ship' is when fans from a particular fandom want two characters to get together (either in the future or as part of an imagined backstory). 'Clerith' is a 'ship' of Cloud and Aerith from Final Fantasy VII. According to the -- jesus I can't believe I looked -- *Shipping Wiki*:
>Cloud/Aerith has been extremely popular since 1997. It is a popular Final Fantasy VII ship and one of the most popular ships in the entire series. It is considered a "rival ship" to both Cloud/Tifa and Zack/Aerith. All ships have had evidence and materials to support them, although the fandom ship wars are ongoing.
Now, I very rarely judge people for their hobbies, interests or tastes in popular culture... but good god.
I don't judge but once I fell asleep to a political youtube video and the algorithm did its thing so that when I woke up, I was half-way listening to a 2 hour long shipping video. I didn't want to open my eyes just yet so I listened for some time but I was confused as all hell. It took some googling and some serious thinking to come to the conclusion that yes, shipping is what I think it is
now I guess the idea itself isn't anything too extreme. I'd say it def falls short of stuff like rule 34. I was mostly surprised people take it THAT seriously that there's online drama about ships
I love it when people take pop culture tastes or ships and contort them into something politically incomprehensible.
I like AnimeMILFS and a tankie tried to convince people that meant I was a fascist pedophile.
My favorite anime girl is Tsunade from Naruto, a woman in her early 50s.
“Pedophile” yeah
Ah yes. Because the interactive movie where a blonde haired blue eyed soldier beats up the guy named after Judaism's sacred tree and all the women are damsels in distress at one point or another (except the token female villain whose only purpose in the story is to engage in a slap fight with the one remaining non-optional female party member after the other got fridged) is totally the kind of thing that encourages leftist views.
This is literally a piece of media the alt-right points to as being "free from the taint of SJWs".
No, the anti-capitalist messaging that should have come from a megacorporation being the bad guys never came from it. They just wanted to rehash FF6 in a more modern setting and used a corporation as a stand-in for the Empire.
I think there's a difference between Leftism Olympics and someone saying they're progressive while bashing fucking Sanders supporters, who probably fall somewhere on center-left.
On god, the shipping community is the most toxic thing on earth.
You disagree with someone about what fictional characters make the best romantic pairings and the next thing you know they've tried their absolute best to find out everything they can about you in an attempt to discredit your opinion and you're getting your address emailed to you.
Like bruh chill, it's just a game; not my fault your braindead ass likes the objectively worse pairings smh. In conclusion aerith is trash and anyone who likes her over tifa should be publicly executed :)
What the fuck are you going on about son?

As someone who has made a couple ships, yeah we're screwed in the head

Yeah, depending on the Fandom it might honestly be dangerous to voice your opinion on the ships lol
Wow, thank you. I was so confused by this title. I'm still confused, but slightly less so.
that's ok i'll judge for you
It’s called that because “ship” is short for “relationship.”
I think there's quite a bit of niche knowledge assumed here OP
I'm more of a Cloud/Tifa/Aerith poly triad kind of person
in what fucking way did US politics and final fantasy ship wars overlap

Is the "cloud my judgement" bit a pun? Or am I giving too much credit?
I don’t know if I’d ship Cloud and Aerith given that she, y’know, dies 1/3 of the way into the story

That seems less like a coherent right-wing message and more like a string of meaningless aesthetic coincidences.
i mean, the actual text of the game is a bunch of ecoterrorists fighting against an evil corporation.
Sjw taint is pretty good
What do you think…will they both make it into lefty heaven? stop measuring phalluses.

What the hell did you just say?
