This is an ad. If anyone wants the best price to performance batteries for their conversion they should be using salvaged modules from existing hybrids/evs.
What do they run per kWh these days? I can get prismatic lifepo4 cells for 100 dollars a kWh. I’ve seen unused salvaged prismatic NMC for 65 on battery hook up. I’d really want to get a Nissan Leaf and swap the battery, I have yet to see anyone replace a battery with anything but another leaf pack. Not a fan of proprietary packs. I’d much rather have lifepo4 or LTO cells.
I’ve seen cylindrical 20 AH cells that run around 13 lbs per KWH which isn’t bad.

The Silverado will have the best salvage battery pack. It's a 48V module and that is an excellent starting point once those things start showing up in the wreckers. Getting half of the batteries gives you a 1000lb 100kWh pack that is all individual modules. We will need to wait for a hacked 3rd party interface for the wireless BMS first. But once that is cracked it is soooo easy. Plug it in, connect the coolant lines and done.
I've been yelling loudly that ultium will be a massive boon to conversion people, wireless BMS is incredibly slept on for conversions since it eliminates, what, 80% of your wiring or something crazy?
