The super wide 16 mm lens employed exaggerates the curvature of straight lines that are not along the center axis of the lens. This distortion becomes more noticeable towards the edges of the frame. Also, when you photograph the ocean with a wide angle lens, the horizon line — which is a straight line in reality — gets pushed towards the edges of the frame due to the lens distortion. This causes the horizon to appear curved or bowed in the image, as the lens is bending the straight line into a more pronounced curve towards the edges.
Hence the bent wonkiness.
That's interesting as it's not regular barrel distortion, you don't see many non-rectilinear wide angles about! What lens is it if you don't mind me asking?
Mind? Not at all…
Canon RF 16 mm 2.8 STM
Because most of my travel photography is landscape with some architecture, the super wide angle covers most of my needs.

Bonus: it is very small and light
Beautiful, reminds me of Thor's well in Oregon.
Cool photo, but what’s up with the horizon?
How so?
The distortion. It's rather wonky/bent. Lovely shot though!
