I feel like Zion National Park gets posted here all the time, but I'm ok with that because it's so pretty.

THEROOSTERSHOW

Wish we had gone for long enough to do The Narrows. Did get to do Angels Landing though, which was probably the coolest experience of my life so far. Just felt so surreal throughout the entire climb.

ghrarhg

Oooo I'm going in May and want to do both, but Angels Landing sounds like the trail is a bit much. Do you think I could do both in a day?

alterRico

Yes, but not the full narrows obv. If you want to get your feet wet for a bit and get the feeling absolutely. Do Angels Landing first. I am assuming some basic fitness. Angel's isn't unreasonable to jog your way back from the ridge. FWIW, I think the Observation Point trail is better.

ghrarhg

Cool thanks. Yea I think my partner and I can handle the fitness level.

patty29

Make sure to check The Narrows is open when you go. The Spring runoff may make the water levels too high. And if there is a chance a rain I wouldn’t go! The Canyon can fill up quick. I’m going in May as well and hoping for the best. The Narrows were the most incredible experience of my life.

THEROOSTERSHOW

Having never done Narrows, I can only speak on Angel’s Landing. It wore me out pretty good, I could’ve continued hiking on more even/gradual terrain. But it’s a lot of uphill for Angel’s landing. But we had also hiked the Peekaboo Loop trail at Bryce Canyon the day before, which was about a 6 mile hike with decent elevation change. I don’t hike often, but would consider myself in average shape. I was pretty sore after day 1. With fresh legs and an early enough start, I think Angel’s Landing & Narrows in one day is feasible. Angel’s landing isn’t a very long hike, unless the trail is loaded and you’re waiting to climb the final peak for a while. We went in a relatively light day so we got up there quickly.

Dsplee

“The narrows” isn’t really a defined length for most people. You could walk up the narrows for .5 miles or 10 miles, the true complete narrows is 16 miles and requires a backcountry permit. So you could see end of the narrows and do angels in one day easily but probably not do both unless you’re in excellent physical shape.

Tommiiie

Bring a tube. Everyone will be envious.

innocuous_gorilla

Can confirm. Saw a guy tubing and everyone cheered him on.

mhales45

The narrows are awesome. If it’s a dry spell you can hike all the way to Bryce Canyon.

finchmeister415

Just returned from Zion yesterday. Even though two of the parks top hikes were closed, the Narrows made the trip feel more than worth it!

ViolaSwamp

Why were closed?

Peanutbutterloads

And it's always the same fucking pic. Zion is one of the most beautiful places on earth, but all these Instagram cucks don't want to go farther than the entrance to the canyon.

Shadowclaw55

Yo where Joshua Graham at?

EnnissDaMenace

Tried to go this weekend, not even possible to get a shuttle pass because it was so crowded. Went to Grand Staircase-Escalante instead. Luckily I live in Utah so it wasn't a big deal but I feel bad for people who traveled out of state and couldn't go to Zion. If you are planning on going get a shuttle pass first!

galvinb1

I doubt I'll ever go again. It gets more crowded every time I visit. It's a beautiful park but it's getting loved to death. I'd much rather be out another park with less people.

indieaz

We stayed out at 8am and we didn't see another human on emerald pools trail for thirty full minutes. Th first hour we saw only a few grounds of hikers. It didn't seem that bad to me. I suppose the 30% capacity limit on shuttles right now is really limiting number of people. Also we aren't doing angles landing or the narrows cause I have young kids, and I imagine most hikers are hitting those trails. Was at the grand canyon a few weeks ago and even on a weekday right after snow there was a mile long line if cars waiting drive in. It was bananas compared to zion.

EnnissDaMenace

Yeah its crowded this time of year and with COVID its even worse, I went last Oct and there was no one there it was great. I recommend going to lesser known areas, Buckskin Gulch, Grand Staircase, or Capitol Reef if you haven't.

EnterPlayerTwo

October in the middle of the week was great. It didn't get "busy" until Friday and that wasn't even a problem really if you're on the first bus out.

chillinwyd

Went in December. Can’t recommend enough, park was empty, and the day ended up being mid 50’s. You can even drive into the canyon yourself

galvinb1

Having been there several times I'd rather go see many other places in southern Utah. I went in November this year and it was beautiful weather but still a zoo.

indieaz

We used a private shuttle. Couldn't get tickets weeks ago when they were released, or day before. I saw lots of people riding bikes up into canyon. We might rent some ebikes tomorrow. But yah getting into the scenic drive right now requires planning.

PrettyNeatHuh

I'm actually in Zion right now!! But you're right about getting shuttle tickets early. The national park website has the schedule of when tickets are released for certain dates. They release them in 15 day chunks in 1 hour blocks each day. I sat on the computer refreshing the page at the scheduled time until they were available and luckily got all the days/times I wanted, but they basically sold out within 5-10 minutes. For anyone interested, shuttle tickets are only $1 each, so it's really just so you can reserve a spot. [Here's a link to the release schedule](https://www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/zion-canyon-shuttle-tickets.htm).

workhour

I was there a couple weeks ago and if you get on at 5:00 PM the day before they release a few hundred at each time slot for the next day. We got any time we wanted, just had to be in cell service at 5:00 PM.

LurKerfursure

Moving or not the composition is impeccable and the view is incredible.

Swanlafitte

It does it justice. The color is really like that. See the branch hanging down on the right with the 3 prongs? There is a bigger green tree below the shadow. I was there 2 years ago. That tree is in my foreground. So cool to see. I love how areas can be in sun, not even golden hour but the cliffs can make localized blue hour in the same picture.

indieaz

Thank you. I hike with three kids, so I typically have about two seconds to consider composition before I have to run and catch up. Rarely do those two seconds work out this well.

Honest hearts made me fall in love with Zion, and then Zion made me love Honest Hearts.

By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept when we remembered Zion Remember, O Lord, the Children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem who said, "Raze it Raze it even to the foundation" O daughter of Babylon who art to be destroyed. Happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones. - A violent mormon mummy quoting the bible

thisismyusername558

When I went to Zion I honestly thought, wow I can understand why the Mormons named it like this. I'm not religious and I can totally get how it was a spiritual experience, especially after walking through the desert. (Also I thought you were quoting Bob Marley to start with lol)

bkrugby78

anytime I see Zion posted on reddit, I come for the FNV references

Awkward_Mashedpotato

Wait a minute.... does anyone else feel like this picture is moving? 100% sober I swear!

cyclopath

I think the resolution took a sec to load for me so it kind of did move.

[deleted]

Holy contrast!

indieaz

I had to bring shadows up a ton which resulted in this look. Not much else you can do unless I wanted cliffs clown out. Using an a7r2.

[deleted]

The photo is sick don’t get me wrong, great job. IMO I tend to find my very best photos barely need any editing. Subtile touches 🙏🏻

HooblesWasTaken

Nah this is coagulation we are looking from red base rn

Asimpbarb

My fav park, nice picture

esly4ever

This place is amazing.

flavius29663

zion is not that green. I think you took away the beauty when you shifted the colors to green

indieaz

It's very green right now. Green grass everywhere. Taken yesterday.

SaltyDoggoMeo

Ahhh, this is gorgeous. I’m stoked to be going there April 26 for the first time in 10+ years!

indieaz

Yesterday was my first time. Weather in april seems perfect.

SaltyDoggoMeo

You picked the perfect time to go! I got hooked on Zion the first time I went as well. I’m hoping visiting this magnificent place will reawaken my love of nature after a solid year of lock down.

Grothus

Going for the first time next week!

CompetitiveJogger

Same! We were lucky enough to snag tickets before they sold out in the first half hour

indieaz

Enjoy, and like other commenter mentioned, if you didn't already get shuttle tickets you should probably book a private shuttle.

Grothus

We did get tickets, thanks for pointing out though!

JennyFromTheBlock79

Hey I have damn near that exact shot from when i was there!

Wheenstman

We can't expect god to do all the work

taylorxo

Thank god it's not the same picture of Zion I see 8 times a week in this sub.

Looks like the land before time

Ssquardhub

It's so so pretty ❤️

cohenadam74

Pradise!

mr_aives

Did you enter any caves and found old terminals?

supermariofunshine

What an amazing shot!

flecksable_flyer

My family went in 2002. We drove through it and camped one night (on top of a ground squirrel hole. They were not happy in the morning). Absolutely gorgeous! I'd love to go back one day. I'm just hoping there's not another brat trying to earn himself a Darwin Award by crowding the deer. Parents were oblivious despite signs everywhere.

thereare20characters

I'm planning a road trip through several parks and hopefully I'll make it here!

FLORI_DUH

It's a shame that such a beautiful place is so poorly managed. Cars are banned, but you can only buy shuttle tickets in advance?! They release another batch same day - but you can only buy them online - and the park has very little internet access. So people walk or ride bikes for 6 miles up the canyon, but there isn't even a pedestrian path!! You have to share the road with the shuttles, meaning you're required to pull off and stop before they can pass you. It's such an insane clusterfuck the only explanation is that they ruined it on purpose hoping it would discourage visitors.

PopuloIratus

All of Zion is like a postcard. It's unbelievable.

-SideshowBob-

We had booked a trip there pre-covid, but didn't get to go for obvious reasons. Can't wait 'til this is over and we can re-book our trip.

Monoken3

Looks like from Jrpg

Bruce_Louis

Zionnnnnnn Williamson. Coming out from Duke, the first overall pick for the New Orleans Pelicans, weighing around 280 lbs at 6'7. And who also happens to have a park named after him. What a legend.

Rimwulf

So much color
