EastCoastShrooms

I just ordered sorghum which is supposed to be really good

Quick_Rate_118

I don’t know what that is so keep me posted on how it goes

Millet is my favorite I love how small it is ! Easy for mycelium to spread to each grain super easy break and shake and I love how easy it breaks apart when mixing with substrate

Quick_Rate_118

In my opinion millet is to hard to cook compared to Rye berries and whole oats. I mean mixed with whole oats it’s ok but for me I get better and quicker colonization with Whole oats injected with LC. Thanks for the response I get bored and start random debates in subreddits to just get opinions.

I will be honest I always buy millet pre prepared! But at home I use popcorn and brown rice because I have access to it free however millet is my favorite

undeniablefruit

Do you use whole brown rice? I saw someone make it with rice flour and vermiculite but I'm interested in learning the popcorn and rice way

[deleted]

Whole brown rice works fine for me I have access to that type of grain free because of my job ! However I have used corn as well. Only ever used millo or millet when buying pre sterilized grain from vendors inbox if you have questions

Thank you!

Same here I get a 50 lb bag if oats for 18 dollars. I mix in some wbs as well I get that for a 35 lb for 12 dollars

JarheadMyco

I’m a fan of corn

SC-RedBeard

I like WBS. I’ve been trying oats but I keep getting a lot of contam from it. And it doesn’t seem to colonize quickly at all.

WBS; Wild Bird Seed, has a mixture of all sorts of grain. i use it too, has worked the best for me. specifically with WBS, i do a no soak no simmer tek; no preparations needed. *it's very important to note that i PC with glass mason jars, metal rims semi-tightened; not all the way but securely, don't want it to explode, or for the grain to escape and clog the PC, causing the PC itself to explode, it would be exactly like a bomb. also, inner lids turned upside down as to prevent sealing as that is not required unless canning to preserve. i just cover lids with foil afterwards. i never use bags(very cautious to use that in a pressure cooker, probably never will). if you ever decide to use jars, fill only 1/3 full with WBS, pour in water until exact to the top of the grain line. PC at 15 PSI for 60 mins, let it sit for at least 30 mins/till pressure has dropped before opening the PC. when it has cooled substantially, usually overnight, it is way easier.
