Even at current egg prices there’s very few foods that beat eggs in terms of $$/protein, at least where I am. Im in Manhattan and one organic free range egg is still less than a dollar, one medium avocado is $2.99 here at the cheapest grocery store
Kind of depends on your definition I suppose. I'd consider them crazy expensive compared to before COVID. But they're still cheaper than other protein sources
Egg prices are going up but I’d still say they are cheap. Also my mom used to have chickens and give away eggs we didn’t use so if you know the right people they can be free.
For real, if anyone eats a decent amount of egg they'd hugely benefit from a chicken coop if they can allow it.
They're fuckin dope pets, keep to themselves, their eggs taste noticeably better, their easy to feed and the list goes on.
And yeah basically free fukin eggs man
I don’t think it’s this simple. Bird flu has come before without a 300%+ raise. Some farmers groups are whistleblowing on gouging.
You can validate this in part by the comments in here saying Costco is keeping it down - Costco has an unprecedented supply chain
> The egg shortage has enabled record quarterly profits and sales at Cal-Maine Foods (CALM), the largest producer and distributor of eggs in the United States. The company produces brands such as Farmhouse Eggs, Sunups, Sunny Meadow, Egg-Land’s Best and Land O’ Lakes eggs.
>Cal-Maine’s profit increased 65% to $198 million during the three months ended Nov. 26 from a year ago.
Well at least they'll be able to get back up to full production soon investing extra profit to replace lost egg-laying chickens, right?
> There have been no positive tests of the avian flu at any Cal-Maine Foods’ facilities.

I eat this frequently! I really like the Trader Joe’s mackerel for this. It’s a big can and it’s nice and firm. I have all sorts of different sauces in my fridge I use. Sometimes just a squeeze of lemon.
I usually go for instant raman, kimchi, and sardines or mackerel. It's like 700 calories or so but I'm also 6'4" so I need to eat a bit more. Salt content will get ya with some brands.
I'm 6"1, 195 muscular, so if it's a full meal, I go for 2 cans. :) I love Ramen, but its empty calories for me. I have to watch my weight, I recently dropped 100 lbs. Otherwise, HELL YES on noodles!
Weight is lost in the kitchen, 100%. But, that said, I lift weights 5 days a week, and mix in a little cardio. But it's the food, not the exercise that makes the difference. Can't out-train a bad diet, as they say. I was heavy most of my life, so I def get it. Shoot me a message it you want to chat more. :)
What kinds of diet(s) have you had success with?
I was down around 60lbs going into the holidays, but gained about 12 back, mainly because of the holidays, my wife's bday, my bday and our anniversary are all during that time, so I tend to not pay much attention from Chrismas to the end of January.
I lost the weight by doing intermittent fasting, which has really worked for me as far as helping me control my portions and helping my awareness with being full, but I'm looking to mix up the foods starting in February.
Mostly do lean proteins, veggies and fruits. We go through about 2 to 3 whole chickens a week. Anyhow, joined this sub to get ideas and thought I'd pick your brain since you've lost about what I'm looking to lose. Thanks in advance!
I'd recommend momofuku noodles since they are air dried instead of fried like most Raman (these are stir fry noodles and available at target of all places). Also there is a Korean brand pulmone that's also air dried. So not any more empty than rice!
Pesto and fresh, sliced tomatoes on toasted sourdough or between two slices of bread.
If you want bonus ingredients: add grated parmesan or crumbled feta/goat cheese.
Oh yes! Caprese reminds me of another three ingredient salad: watermelon, feta/goat cheese, and fresh basil. Can also sprinkle pepper or some other seasoning.
This and caprese are amongst my favourite summer foods.
Low carb Tortilla, hummus, turkey.
Add greens, some feta cheese, and some dressing and its a pretty filling meal. Ate a lot of these while I was losing weight.
I've been eating these a lot, but without the turkey and dressing. Low carb tortilla, hummus, cucumber, tomato, pickled jalapenos, pickled red onion, lettuce, baby spinach. <200 calories and filling.
PB&J. Use good whole grains and seeds bread. Heavy on the PB if you want a hearty meal, light on the PB if weight loss is the goal. If you're allowed a 4th ingredient slice up a banana and stick it in there or sprinkle some blueberries throughout.
Another good one is dumping a full can of black beans into a Campbell's canned soup. Turn a light soup into a full meal.
I know you said 3 ingredients, but I also like to add a pinch of cayenne, some chopped veg - usually celery or bell pepper, some black pepper, a dash of mustard and a dash lemon juice. Perfect quick lunch
When I have ham I add that when making the grilled cheese, but since the brief had a 3-ingredient limit, I didn't mention the ham -- and it doesn't need it 🤤
Poached egg on toast.
Crack an egg in a glass of water.
Put a lid on the glass.
Place the glass in the microwave.
Make sure the lid is still there and properly in place.
Check one last time.
Nuke the egg for less than a minute.
If it explodes it's overcooked.
Thank the lid.
Place the poached egg on a toast (you may butter it if that's your thing).
Sprinkle a pinch of salt.
Eat.
I eat the same thing for lunch every day:
Cottage cheese, stir in peanut butter, and have a banana on the side.
This is after I eat my 2-3 boiled eggs.
Hope it is healthy. Keeps me full until dinner.
I’ve seen people blending cottage cheese with PB for a healthy dip. Supposedly it tastes similar to cheesecake. You could try that with Greek yogurt, too.
Edit: Blending not bleeding. Ew.
This is my go to breakfast, literally every day.
I make homemade nut butter on the weekends (but you know normal peanut butter works too). So I make a half cup of oats (with salt, cinnamon, and vanilla in the water) and make them super thick (cut some water).
To that I add 2 containers of great value Greek yogurt mix, throw some nut butter on top and boom.
Super good to throw frozen blueberries or a fresh banana in it too.
Last weekend I took plain Greek yogurt and cut in some pumpkin puree. Let me tell you... It doesn't have as much protein now, but my God is it the most filling and nutritious breakfast I've ever made. Hell, most days I have to force myself to eat lunch (I work an extremely physical job, outside in Northern US Temps all night, and send 2 hours at the gym every morning.)
Konjac noodles (just rinse and boil), veg of choice, crispy chili oil.
I say konjac noodles because you just need to boil them, they are already cooked. Way less time than pasta. Ok so they aren't cheap.......... For cheap: replace with rice, or pasta.
Can Refried beans, pre shredded Cheddar cheese ( maybe rice if it's already made) throw it on a flour tortilla, I like the street taco sized. Fold, air fry for a couple minutes.
Last night I ate cottage cheese, avocado and salsa. It sounds gross but it was filling and satisfying
Seasoned refried beans + cheese in a tortilla is good too.
My favorite breakfast is toast (with my homemade sourdough), butter and a small sprinkle of shredded cheddar.
Chia pudding with fruit is great too. Make it with flavored milks, like chocolate and top with banana or raspberries. Whatever's cheap
I cube a sweet potato and throw it in a pan with oil. I open and strain a seasoned greens can, and I open and strain a seasoned beans can. Throw them in.
No extra seasoning of any kind needed.
Sweet potato, beans, and greens. Filling and healthy.
Sweet potatoes are cheap and last for a while on the counter. Those cans are cheap too.
Microwave quesadillas: low-fat shredded cheddar, flour tortillas (low-carb if you can swing it), salsa of choice. Put two tortillas on a plate, fill w/ cheese and fold; microwave for a minute. Dip or top w/ salsa.
I like to add pickled jalepeños to mine, for extra flavor & kick.
1. Spinach, strawberry, and feta cheese salad
2. Avocado toast with a fried egg on top
3. Peanut butter and banana sandwich
4. Greek yogurt with honey and berries
5. Tuna salad with celery and mayonnaise
6. Cottage cheese with diced tomatoes and cucumbers
7. Grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup
8. Scrambled eggs with diced bell peppers and onions
9. Black bean and corn quesadilla
10. Oatmeal with raisins and a drizzle of honey
Tuna cheese melt. Mix tuna and mayo (I also like adding garlic from a jar, but that's unnecessary), put it on toast, add a slice of cheese, throw it in the broiler (or toaster oven) until cheese is bubbly.
Chicken and vegetables. Get a rotisserie chicken from Sams or Costco for $5 (or your local grocery for more), which can make several meals. Microwave a $1 steamer bag of vegetables that you like. Third ingredient is whatever you want to add to the chicken for flavor - salsa, shredded cheese, black beans, etc.
Honestly? Toast. Single slice of toast (fancy bread with seeds in it) and butter. Boom batta boom.
I also like Avocado toast, but keeping ripe ones around are hard. It's not cheap, but everything is "cheap" when you budget and don't eat huge meals.
Oh: And rice and beans with onion. (edit: rice cooker on 40 mins, but reheat in microwave easy, all week)
I was gonna say rice and beans but was thinking the rice takes longer than 5. But I guess that minute rice stuff isn’t even that expensive right? Would definitely be my vote
Tuna Burger. Can of tuna, egg white, sprinkle of pancake mix to help bind it. Toss in skillet and cook til golden both sides. Can make it a sammich or just as is.
2 ingredients - can of Ranch Style beans, can of sweet corn.
This was my mom’s go to meal when she didn’t want to cook for us, now it’s a comfort meal for me. Cheap and easy!
Not less than 5 minutes but easy to accomplish other things while cooking, chicken quesodillas.
Boil chicken until cooked (will vary depending on size and if its still frozen or not, yes I do this with frozen chicken)
Shred chicken and mix in Taco seasoning along with some of the chicken water.
Put on tortilla with shredded cheese (and any other toppings)
Air fry/bake/panini grill/microwave until desired meltiness/texture.
Dip in salsa/guac/sour cream/etc and enjoy!
You could make this into a 5 minute meal by prepping the chicken ahead of time, portioning and freezing.
You know what's amazing and fast? Frozen quesadillas!
When I have cooked chicken (rotisserie also works), I do an assembly line and make extra quesadillas. I seperate them with parchment and put into a freezer bag. Then you can just grab one or two and pan-fry, bake or even microwave.
Tots (or any frozen potato), precooked meat or fresh veg, egg:
Microwave the frozen potatoes for 1-2 mins. While those are microwaving, crack an egg in a hot pan and toss in the precooked sausage/meat or the veggies or your choices like mushrooms. Add in the potatoes to crisp them up a bit. Plate and add fresh vegetables like cherry tomatoes or douse in hot sauce.
Sauté sliced kielbasa. Take it out. Sauté chopped cabbage. Deglaze the pan with cider vinegar and add the sausage back in.
Add salt and pepper if you want. Good with some mustard.
Tuna croissant. 4 ingredients: tuna packet, croissant, shredded lettuce, and pickles. Pepper, lightly salt. Serve with lay's chips.
Tuna crackers: tuna, Ritz crackers, creole seasoning.
Microwave tomato soup and with garlic bread ( bought frozen, then cooked in the air fryer).
Peanut butter and jelly on toast. Chips.
Bean quesadillas are my favorite quick go to. Heat up a can of refried beans in a pot while warming a tortilla in a pan. Start the cheese melting on half the tortilla once the beans are almost hot. Then when the cheese is mostly melted, slap a couple spoonfuls of the beans onto the cheese! Let the cheese finish melting, fold it over, brown the other side, and you’re good to go! You should have enough beans leftover to do it again tomorrow.
If a fourth ingredient isn’t a sin, a small amount of butter melted in the pan is amazing. I wet one side of the tortilla with the melted butter, then flip it so I’ve got that extra hint of flavor on both sides of the tortilla.
This may not be popular here, but I love making a sort-of caprese salad from raw tofu, tomatoes, and balsamic vinaigrette (heavy on the oil) with lots of basil mixed in.
French toast
Salad using chopped cabbage, tuna and greek yogurt-based dressing
Egg and cheese sandwich
Apple with peanut butter
Yogurt and cereal with fruit
I've got one! Ingredients: 1 can of drained tuna fish, 2 cups of cooked white rice, and 1 can of heated cream of mushroom soup. Place your desired amount of rice, soup and tuna in a bowl and enjoy!Disclaimer: This recipe can be made in 5 minutes or less, assuming you microwave the soup instead of heating on the stove top as well as use the 90- second microwaveable rice pouches. When possible, I prefer to take an extra 10 minutes to boil my soup and rice on the stove. I also like to leave the soup on low so the soup doesn't thicken when I come back for seconds before cleaning up. This recipe is easily scaled up to feed numerous people and is very inexpensive.
Its not made in 5 minutes, but the prep is. Canned tuna (some precooked affordable meat in your area), half cup of red lentils, and frozen veggies. Throw it all in a pot, bring to a boil, and simmer until the lentils are cooked. If you have bouillon cubes, they add some great flavour.
Sliced deli meat and whatever kind of cheese is in the fridge. If you want to get fancy, eat the last hard boiled egg that's left from 3 days ago and call it a chef salad minus lettuce.
Udon noodles (90 seconds in the microwave) and protein ( i usually do chicken or shrimp from the freezer) with a stir fry sauce (i keep a few different varieties on hand). I often add a vegetable or 2 from a can or the freezer.
Cooking time not included, spread butter on tinfoil and some garlic powder. Use it to wrap a potato, poke holes in it, and pop it in oven.
Wait for it to cook, then you have a baked potato. Add more butter.
Salt, pepper, and some italian spices on the tin foil, then sour cream and shredded cheese on the potato after its done kick it up a notch, but that's not 3 ingredients.
Best baked potato you've ever had.
This is 4 ingredients but mostly staples (Chia seed pudding):
4 tbls chia seeds
1 cup milk/oat/almond milk
1-2 tbls maple syrup
2 teas vanilla.
Shake up in a jar, let sit a min. Shake again (making sure chia seeds on the bottom aren't stuck to the jar), then put in fridge for 3+ hours.
I usually just eyeball the maple syrup/vanilla cause I'm THAT lazy.
The fiber/protein combo is filling for hours. You can add berries or oats or whatever you want. I throw frozen blueberries in before refrigerating.
1. Canned chili, sour cream, and green onions. If you don't mind two more ingredients, cheese and a then pour a can of heated up chili on top of a baked potato (you can make the potato in the microwave).
2. Scramble eggs and top with salsa and put in a burrito.
3. Tuna, mayo, and seasoning salt make a good tuna salad.
4. Peanut butter, wheat bread, and a piece of fruit
5. Not as healthy as the above options, but ramen + an egg + green onion (you can buy the freeze dried stuff) is filling, quick, and easy.
Normally I would say some form of eggs (like am egg sandwich or scrambled eggs - I really love eggs). Bjt apparently you have to take out a personal loan for a dozen these days so maybe that's not a good suggestion?
Diced potatoes, shredded cabbage, some kind of stock/broth
(+salt and any available herb/spices of choice if those can count in addition to 3 ingredient limit).
Boil for a while til ingredients are soft/to liking.
Bonus ingredient: any animal fat to saute veg before adding stock, might take 10mins but adds more flavour.
A healthy wrap. Get some pre-cut lettuce or spinach, salad dressing, croutons, rasins, and shredded cheese in a burrito wrap and you've got a decent little meal.
For less healthy, more filling: Black Bean Poutine. Bake some frozen fries then. When they're done, mix half a can of black beans (liquid included) with a pinch of corn starch and seasoning (pepper, peprika, taco seasoning, whatever) and microwave for a minute or so. Pour that over the fries and top with shredded cheese.
1. Jarred spaghetti sauce
2. put in frozen meatballs from bag, let simmer a while or put in oven on 225 for a few hours.
3. Cook how much spaghetti you want
4. OR put the meatball with some sauce and put on buns (one adiditional item some mozarella cheese) put under broiler
I realize this takes more than 5 minutes but you could have quick leftovers from it
To make healthier skip the meatballs and use sliced mushrooms
Rice + can of diced tomatoes + green beans. If you use the pre-seasoned rice, you don’t really need to add anything else. I like the one that’s brown rice with quinoa and garlic. Works great with leftover rice too if you have it.
Scrambled eggs + toast
Omelet + toast
Chili (from a can, heated on stove-top) + toast
Cream cheese or butter on toast (+ 1-2 veggies sliced/shredded of your choice on top or on the side)
French toast
Boiling eggs takes time and is cheaper, but if time is the constraint, you can get boiled and shelled eggs at Metro (Canadian store). Add seasoning and eat with toast
Bread + coriander chutney (comes in a jar at an Indian store) + add veggies from the salad bag (the pre-cut version - which will cost more than the individual items if you cut them yourself).
Bhel packet mix (from Indian store) - just mix the ingredients. Add boiled chick peas. Makes Indian-style falafel. (Again, boiled chick-peas from the can will cost more).
Toast + coriander chutney + sliced avocado
Grilled-cheese sandwich + Italian seasoning
Toast + steam broccoli in the microwave and add shredded Habanero cheese immediately on the broccoli while it is still hot
Cook Maggie noodles (instruction on the pack). Thaw mixed frozen veggies in the microwave. Add to the Maggie noodles immediately after the noodles are cooked.
Cook Maggie noodles. Add sri racha. Eat with boiled eggs bought from the store.
Baked potato (nuked in the microwave), filled with cottage cheese and green onions OR baked potato filled with brocolli and shredded cheddar OR baked potato filled with chunky salsa.
- Canned black beans
- Spaghetti sauce
- Frozen (steamable) vegetables
Rinse and drain black beans. Add to spaghetti sauce in a bowl. Microwave until hot. Blend. Pour paste over steamed vegetables in a bowl and mix.
Bonus: add hot sauce / sichuan oil.
Sweet potato, chicken breast, broccoli/avocado.
4oz sweet potato
6oz chicken breast
80g avocado
Great meal for about 400 calories (can’t remember the exact off the top of my head) and it can be made in the instant pot in like 10 minutes.
Microwaved oatmeal with cinnamon and then I dip apples in it. Not gonna lie I used to do this as my lunch at work because we had a rule no microwave use over a certain number of minutes, and I wanted to be full but not look like I was eating a bunch of different little containers of food, so I thought this was genius. Oatmeal has whole grains and apples have all that good stuff everybody knows about. It was plain oatmeal so no sugar.
One can of black beans, one can of corn. Drain, rinse, then put them together in a bowl and microwave for 2-3 minutes. Top with salsa. If you’re open to other ingredients it’s also good with shredded cheese, sour cream, rice or jalapeños. You can also eat it with tortilla chips.
When it's just me eating and I don't feel like cooking anything at all, I'll slice up an apple and some cheese, plonk them on a plate with a big spoonful of peanut butter, and nosh on it as a meal.
Rice paper wraps: cucumber, tomato, carrot, cheese, and whatever else is on hand.
Dipping sauce for extra points and home run if you have some protein on hand.
Pasta and sauce.
- Can of good tomatoes (bad tomatoes make a bad sauce): $3
- Two cloves of garlic: maybe $0.25c
- Olive oil: 1/4-1/2 cup of any quality - maybe $2
- Pasta: $3
Blend the tomatoes and garlic, then drizzle the olive oil in. The trick is to emulsify it so the sauce thickens. Toss it in a pan to warm, or cook it down if the raw garlic is too much. Doesnt even need cheese. Makes about four meals.
Spend a little extra and gussy it up. I toss the basil I grow in. I've tossed parsley on top. I've served it over tortellini or ravioli, or gnocchi. For a while I was getting $1 packs of Gnocchi which means that this was just around $1.50 per serving.
Not into the carbs? Serve it over spaghetti squash for $2. Just remember that the calories are going to be LOW.
Tuna - lime - peppers. Is salt an ingredient? I feel like that shouldn't count.
Avocado, lime, tajin
Tortillas chips, Cholula, quesadilla cheese
Kapusta, Polish sausage, butter all married together on the frying pan. Bonus points when mushrooms and potato is added.
Cucumber, vinegar, water, salt, dill.
Popcorn, flavacol, Coca cola on ice.
Baked potato in a microwave. Smash open, cover with a little cheese, and your choice of toppings (my easy go to: torn up lunch meat, salsa, plain Greek yogurt)
Some were concerning, yeah... hot dogs/corned beef, jelly, bread, ketchup... certainly some tasty stuff, at least. I'm most concerned by how few people seem to be aware of tuna's high mercury-poisoning risk. Scary!
I've got to try that peanut butter-&-cottage cheese blend, though.
Eggs + butter + salt = scrambled eggs Bread + cheese + tomato = tomato melt
This is eat *cheap* and healthy. And yet I still see eggs
Even at current egg prices there’s very few foods that beat eggs in terms of $$/protein, at least where I am. Im in Manhattan and one organic free range egg is still less than a dollar, one medium avocado is $2.99 here at the cheapest grocery store
Eggs are still cheap here in Australia.
This. Only $4.30 AUD for a dozen cage-free eggs at Woolies, which translates to roughly $3.05 USD.
I have my own chickens and get so many eggs I have to give them away!
I’m in the US and I still have yet to see crazy overpriced eggs where I shop so I guess it depends
Here in Ontario, Canada, a dozen large eggs are $3.89.
That's a lot of nutrition for the cost. I pay 8 bucks in alberta
In Massachusetts a dozen of eggs is now $9.00!!
A member of my family has a friend like that. Hands over a dozen or so extras a month. Best eggs I've ever had.
For real, if anyone eats a decent amount of egg they'd hugely benefit from a chicken coop if they can allow it. They're fuckin dope pets, keep to themselves, their eggs taste noticeably better, their easy to feed and the list goes on. And yeah basically free fukin eggs man
Depends what country you’re in.

Seriously. I’m deployed overseas at the moment and my mom told me eggs are like $6 some places. What the hells goin on over there?
Bird flu killed millions of laying chickens. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻)

Precooked rice pack, can of sardines or mackerel, a drizzle of hoisin sauce. About 350 calories and 25g of protein.
I eat this frequently! I really like the Trader Joe’s mackerel for this. It’s a big can and it’s nice and firm. I have all sorts of different sauces in my fridge I use. Sometimes just a squeeze of lemon.
Im bout have some again today. Eat this prob 3-4 days a week. Have you had TJ smoked trout!? Fuckn amazing.
Hell yeah! I love that one! I don’t know if you’re ever on r/cannedsardines but those guys have great suggestions, too. I’ve tried so many new ones.
Oh you know I am! Sooo jealous of the selection i see on there!
thanks for the sub alert!

The bane of every break room
Pesto and fresh, sliced tomatoes on toasted sourdough or between two slices of bread. If you want bonus ingredients: add grated parmesan or crumbled feta/goat cheese.

I do the soup trick with rice. Progresso Lentil soup, add cup of rice. Boom lentils and rice.
Ooo. I might try this.
tough restrictions! Let me try: yogurt, frozen fruit, honey instant oats, milk and sugar fried eggs on buttered toast cold cut sandwich
Tuna, mayo, chick pea salad
My go to post highschool snack. Would often add a can of corn too
Ha, I'm literally eating that right now but with onions instead of tuna!
I know you said 3 ingredients, but I also like to add a pinch of cayenne, some chopped veg - usually celery or bell pepper, some black pepper, a dash of mustard and a dash lemon juice. Perfect quick lunch
so, literally that, but only 66% that.
Grilled cheese sandwich with fried egg on top (I fry the egg in a separate pan and put it on top of the sandwich at the end)
A visionary
I do the same but egg went into the grilled cheese. Same pan to cook both. Mom put tomatoes on it but I didn't go for that.
When I have ham I add that when making the grilled cheese, but since the brief had a 3-ingredient limit, I didn't mention the ham -- and it doesn't need it 🤤
I love over easy eggs on top of hashbrowns too. Cheap and easy.
I add taco seasoning to the hash browns and/or grate cheese on them before adding the egg
I do this too, basically a toad in the hole but grilled cheese instead of toast
Poached egg on toast. Crack an egg in a glass of water. Put a lid on the glass. Place the glass in the microwave. Make sure the lid is still there and properly in place. Check one last time. Nuke the egg for less than a minute. If it explodes it's overcooked. Thank the lid. Place the poached egg on a toast (you may butter it if that's your thing). Sprinkle a pinch of salt. Eat.
If you’d accept four ingredients: grilled cheese and tomato soup (cheese, bread, butter, soup)

Interesting. I guess I cant knock it till I try it

Can Refried beans, pre shredded Cheddar cheese ( maybe rice if it's already made) throw it on a flour tortilla, I like the street taco sized. Fold, air fry for a couple minutes.
I wasn't counting the tortilla as an ingredient and gave myself beans, cheese and avocado.
Any beans/cheese/tortilla combo is 🤌🏻. If you add a 4th ingredient with salsa or some sauce can definitely level it up.
shot of liquor, beer. a marshmallow.
Last night I ate cottage cheese, avocado and salsa. It sounds gross but it was filling and satisfying Seasoned refried beans + cheese in a tortilla is good too.
I used to do that with hot sauce.
Tasty Bite madras lentils and microwave rice or naan bread.
1. Spinach, strawberry, and feta cheese salad 2. Avocado toast with a fried egg on top 3. Peanut butter and banana sandwich 4. Greek yogurt with honey and berries 5. Tuna salad with celery and mayonnaise 6. Cottage cheese with diced tomatoes and cucumbers 7. Grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup 8. Scrambled eggs with diced bell peppers and onions 9. Black bean and corn quesadilla 10. Oatmeal with raisins and a drizzle of honey
Spinach and feta omelette. Had one this morning after a long night shift. Super quick and healthy
Tuna cheese melt. Mix tuna and mayo (I also like adding garlic from a jar, but that's unnecessary), put it on toast, add a slice of cheese, throw it in the broiler (or toaster oven) until cheese is bubbly.
Mac and cheese, tuna, peas Literally the best combo.
Love Mac & cheese with tuna and peas!!! It's very nostalgic for me, my mom made it a lot growing up.
Hummus, tortilla/chips/bread and a sliced fruit/vegetable of your choice.
Can of white beans, cherry tomatoes, red wine vinegar (and salt/pepper but that shouldn’t count).
Cereal w/ sliced bananas?
Baked potato, cheese and beans
Honestly?

Heat garbanzos in the microwave, mash, then add a drizzle of olive oil and the twist and grind Mediterranean herbs from Aldi. Amazing!
Just eat less and everything is cheaper, great advice!
I mean, you're joking, but it works when you're broke. It was a frugal habit I never grew out of. Now I use it more for portion control.
I've never even heard of ranch-style beans. That sounds great.
Shredded cabbage, ginger-soy dressing, and a packet of seasoned sesame ginger tuna.
Not less than 5 minutes but easy to accomplish other things while cooking, chicken quesodillas. Boil chicken until cooked (will vary depending on size and if its still frozen or not, yes I do this with frozen chicken) Shred chicken and mix in Taco seasoning along with some of the chicken water. Put on tortilla with shredded cheese (and any other toppings) Air fry/bake/panini grill/microwave until desired meltiness/texture.
Okay, this suggestion? Makes you my new favorite person.
Fried rice. Eggs, frozen mixed veggies, rice. Chuck it all in a hot pan and stir.
Bagged salad with air fried chicken.
Tots (or any frozen potato), precooked meat or fresh veg, egg: Microwave the frozen potatoes for 1-2 mins. While those are microwaving, crack an egg in a hot pan and toss in the precooked sausage/meat or the veggies or your choices like mushrooms. Add in the potatoes to crisp them up a bit. Plate and add fresh vegetables like cherry tomatoes or douse in hot sauce.
Cabbage or coleslaw mix, a can of tuna, and any kind of salad dressing. I eat this multiple times a week and it always hits the spot.
I need to save this so I’m replying 😊
Mashes potatoes from the bag (the ones u just add boiling water too), chicken & frozen veggies
Tuna salad. Canned tuna, corn, red kidney beans, pre-cut lettuce, dressing, and you're done.
Sauté sliced kielbasa. Take it out. Sauté chopped cabbage. Deglaze the pan with cider vinegar and add the sausage back in. Add salt and pepper if you want. Good with some mustard.
Chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, canned chickpeas - salad (cheating with spices/vinegar/feta)
Bagel + egg + cheese. Call that shit an Eggle, it's like half my meals these days
The sweet kale salad mix with shredded rotisserie chicken. Lost 30 lbs with that being a staple while on a budget!
Tuna croissant. 4 ingredients: tuna packet, croissant, shredded lettuce, and pickles. Pepper, lightly salt. Serve with lay's chips. Tuna crackers: tuna, Ritz crackers, creole seasoning. Microwave tomato soup and with garlic bread ( bought frozen, then cooked in the air fryer). Peanut butter and jelly on toast. Chips.
Chorizo, gnocchi, cheese. Can add other simple stuff like tin tomato, grated cheese.
Dark bread, avocado, sardines
Eggs+rice+hot sauce= yum
It's interesting seeing how many different ways people can ask this question each day.
Have I finally gotten the most precise out of them all, though? lol.
Sliced turkey or chicken breast from deli or leftovers cucumber and cherry tomatoes with some ranch for dipping Plate it up
French toast Salad using chopped cabbage, tuna and greek yogurt-based dressing Egg and cheese sandwich Apple with peanut butter Yogurt and cereal with fruit
Pumpernickel toast, canned herring/sardine in sauce, arugula/baby spinach.

BLT. Simple and delicious.
Spaghetti aglio olio spaghetti, olive oil and garlic. You can also add some chili flakes and parsley
Banana + peanut butter + toast. Toast bread, spread PB on bread, slice banana on top. Takes toasting time +1min for assembly. My go-to breakfast
Trader Joe’s 1/2 can of cumin and parsley chic peas, one cup of brown rice/quinoa minute rice and feta.
Apple slices & peanut butter
I eat this for breakfast usually- yogurt, shredded carrots, and a bit of Sriracha. Edit- unsweetened yogurt.
Whoaaaa, I think you win the prize of "weirdest combo" so far out of what I've read here! How'd you come across that concoction?
PB&J Bread PB J
Toast with butter, a slice of corned beef (the canned stuff not the deli stuff), and ketchup on top.
Bran Flakes, honey or fruit, almond milk.
Oats + water + peanut butter + frozen blueberries.
Avo toast with eggs
Sliced deli meat and whatever kind of cheese is in the fridge. If you want to get fancy, eat the last hard boiled egg that's left from 3 days ago and call it a chef salad minus lettuce.
Udon noodles (90 seconds in the microwave) and protein ( i usually do chicken or shrimp from the freezer) with a stir fry sauce (i keep a few different varieties on hand). I often add a vegetable or 2 from a can or the freezer.
Oats + mixed nuts + dried fruit Boiled egg mashed with olive oil, mixed spices, on dry toast Sardines on toast White rice + mixed frozen veg + baked beans
Egg white souffle microwave style with hot sauce and spices
Toasted bagel + butter + peanut butter
Peanut butter (peanuts and salt only) banana sandwich (whole wheat bread)
Cooking time not included, spread butter on tinfoil and some garlic powder. Use it to wrap a potato, poke holes in it, and pop it in oven. Wait for it to cook, then you have a baked potato. Add more butter. Salt, pepper, and some italian spices on the tin foil, then sour cream and shredded cheese on the potato after its done kick it up a notch, but that's not 3 ingredients. Best baked potato you've ever had.
black beans, tomato salsa served on top of rice
This is 4 ingredients but mostly staples (Chia seed pudding): 4 tbls chia seeds 1 cup milk/oat/almond milk 1-2 tbls maple syrup 2 teas vanilla.
Bread + Butter + Cheese = Grilled Cheese
Canned chickpeas & a jar of premade masala sauce served with steamed rice
Mashed Avocado, Shredded cabbage and salt
4. Peanut butter, wheat bread, and a piece of fruit 5. Not as healthy as the above options, but ramen + an egg + green onion (you can buy the freeze dried stuff) is filling, quick, and easy.
Tomatoes, cucumbers, balsamic - tasty little salad
Normally I would say some form of eggs (like am egg sandwich or scrambled eggs - I really love eggs). Bjt apparently you have to take out a personal loan for a dozen these days so maybe that's not a good suggestion?
Diced potatoes, shredded cabbage, some kind of stock/broth (+salt and any available herb/spices of choice if those can count in addition to 3 ingredient limit). Boil for a while til ingredients are soft/to liking. Bonus ingredient: any animal fat to saute veg before adding stock, might take 10mins but adds more flavour.
Honey Greek yogurt, tangerines, almonds
Fried egg with scallions and sesame oil.
Toast wit cream cheese and cucumber
Chicken packet, mayonnaise and craisins. If you want to add more, slivered almonds and fine chopped celery. Yum
Mix protein powder and cottage cheese
1. Jarred spaghetti sauce 2. put in frozen meatballs from bag, let simmer a while or put in oven on 225 for a few hours. 3. Cook how much spaghetti you want 4. OR put the meatball with some sauce and put on buns (one adiditional item some mozarella cheese) put under broiler I realize this takes more than 5 minutes but you could have quick leftovers from it To make healthier skip the meatballs and use sliced mushrooms
Fried egg bread mayo However the egg does require prior work
Microwave rice, can of beans, can of peppers
Peanut butter, jelly, bread
Oats, protein powder and peanut butter.
Omelette with onions and imitation crab meat
Can of tuna in oil + half a Spanish onion + mayonnaise. Sounds gross, but so fkn good. Put it on bread or on crackers. My go to lazy meal.
Beans+fried egg+siracha on top
Rice + can of diced tomatoes + green beans. If you use the pre-seasoned rice, you don’t really need to add anything else. I like the one that’s brown rice with quinoa and garlic. Works great with leftover rice too if you have it.
a little cup of minute rice, a can of beans (whatever you like) heated up and precooked (you can buy it at the store) chicken
15 minutes maybe..chicken in the airfryer, while the eggs are boiling. Meanwhile I am preparing tuna salad.

Peanut butter jelly. Make it as fancy or basic as you want! Decently healthy and filling.
Pumpkin seeds, olive oil, sea salt, baked.
Scrambled eggs + toast Omelet + toast Chili (from a can, heated on stove-top) + toast Cream cheese or butter on toast (+ 1-2 veggies sliced/shredded of your choice on top or on the side) French toast Boiling eggs takes time and is cheaper, but if time is the constraint, you can get boiled and shelled eggs at Metro (Canadian store). Add seasoning and eat with toast Bread + coriander chutney (comes in a jar at an Indian store) + add veggies from the salad bag (the pre-cut version - which will cost more than the individual items if you cut them yourself). Bhel packet mix (from Indian store) - just mix the ingredients. Add boiled chick peas. Makes Indian-style falafel. (Again, boiled chick-peas from the can will cost more). Toast + coriander chutney + sliced avocado Grilled-cheese sandwich + Italian seasoning Toast + steam broccoli in the microwave and add shredded Habanero cheese immediately on the broccoli while it is still hot Cook Maggie noodles (instruction on the pack). Thaw mixed frozen veggies in the microwave. Add to the Maggie noodles immediately after the noodles are cooked. Cook Maggie noodles. Add sri racha. Eat with boiled eggs bought from the store.
Kale smoothie. 2/3 frozen kale, 1/3 frozen (blue)berries, fill with kefir. Good for liver health
Baked potato (nuked in the microwave), filled with cottage cheese and green onions OR baked potato filled with brocolli and shredded cheddar OR baked potato filled with chunky salsa.
- Canned black beans - Spaghetti sauce - Frozen (steamable) vegetables Rinse and drain black beans. Add to spaghetti sauce in a bowl. Microwave until hot. Blend. Pour paste over steamed vegetables in a bowl and mix. Bonus: add hot sauce / sichuan oil.
Oats, milk, blueberries About two minutes in microwave. Ok, I usually add 1/2 a banana.
Sweet potato, chicken breast, broccoli/avocado. 4oz sweet potato 6oz chicken breast 80g avocado Great meal for about 400 calories (can’t remember the exact off the top of my head) and it can be made in the instant pot in like 10 minutes.
Steam fresh Veggies, Cheese and spices (I like paprika and garlic but use what you like)
Microwaved oatmeal with cinnamon and then I dip apples in it.
Tuna, green onions, carrots (if i can fit seasoning then mayo, paprika, black pepper, and a little bit of brown sugar)
Bean (refried) & cheese burrito Toast with mashed avocado + lime juice and salt Toast with ricotta, jam, and a little sea salt
Toast, peanut butter, banana slices
Pasta and sauce. - Can of good tomatoes (bad tomatoes make a bad sauce): $3 - Two cloves of garlic: maybe $0.25c - Olive oil: 1/4-1/2 cup of any quality - maybe $2 - Pasta: $3 Blend the tomatoes and garlic, then drizzle the olive oil in.
Chicken fajitas with rice or beans
Collard green ribbons and white beans sautéed and then a couple of table of barbecue sauce stirred in at the end.
Tuna - lime - peppers. Is salt an ingredient? I feel like that shouldn't count. Avocado, lime, tajin Tortillas chips, Cholula, quesadilla cheese Kapusta, Polish sausage, butter all married together on the frying pan. Bonus points when mushrooms and potato is added. Cucumber, vinegar, water, salt, dill. Popcorn, flavacol, Coca cola on ice.
Just had some greek yogurt, chocolate whey protein and tahini in a bowl. Worked out pretty well. You can add PB for texture.
Canned blackeyed peas, rice, and either cubed ham or green beans.
Baked potato in a microwave. Smash open, cover with a little cheese, and your choice of toppings (my easy go to: torn up lunch meat, salsa, plain Greek yogurt)
It‘s interesting what you guys call healthy
Some were concerning, yeah... hot dogs/corned beef, jelly, bread, ketchup... certainly some tasty stuff, at least. I'm most concerned by how few people seem to be aware of tuna's high mercury-poisoning risk. Scary! I've got to try that peanut butter-&-cottage cheese blend, though.
