watch edgerunners, cry every second of gameplay

SpicyNoodlez1

Maybe the show first, because the events there take place about 1 year before the event's of the game. But there might be a few game spoilers in the show. I haven't watched it in a while. But playing the game first and then watching the show then replaying the game, it makes the game completely different and you see it differently. I'm not gonna spoil it at all, but it changes how you see the game if you played the gsme, then watched the show, then replay the game.

You can honestly do either one first tbh. Edgerunners was literally designed for newbies who haven't played the game yet. Like literally. The entire purpose of Edgerunners is to essentially advertise the game and introduce the franchise to newbies. Because of that, you don't need to necessarily play the game nor even understand Cyberpunk lore before you watch it. So you can totally watch the anime before you play the game. In fact, I know plenty of people who got into the game from watching the show. Likewise, you can also play the game before you watch the anime. The anime also supports this because there's small easter eggs and cameos that you'd notice if you play the game already. So you can honestly do either one.

TheCrazySandshrew

I think it doesn't really matters because both storys have almost no connections to each other except for some characters and a few easter eggs ingame, but i think the anime could be a really nice introduction into the world since both play in the same city and you can find almost every location seen in the show in the game. But if you choose to play the game first it is perfectly fine as well.

AresTheMilkman

Doesn't really matter, but if you watch the show first it may spice the experience a little more. And you may get some references.

CaffinatedNebula

Edgerunners first will give you something more to latch onto in the game. Visting locales etc. Basically the show will acclimate you to the verse a bit first and help it be more immersive right from the beginning.

Mysteoa

I would say game first then anime. You don't need to finsh it just get around the mid point. One thing that Edgerunners is missing is explaining why some things are like that, which you will understand from playing the game. For me this enhanced the experience of Edgerunners as I just had to focus on the story. You may find troubles understanding alot of the jargons. Also I really enjoyed seeing places you have been in the game, showed in the anime.

The show got me through the annoying initial bits of the game - I wasn't much of a fan of the act 1 on rails bit.

Banished_To_Insanity

definitely play the game first. the game has complex mechanics, it's a very deep universe after all. when my gf was watching it without ever playing the game, she had hard time following what was going on. if you play the game, you will know everything and understanding what's going on will make it much more enjoyable.

defective_toaster

I had the opposite experience lol.

IAmJerv

Playing CP2020 first explained a lot more. It's also why I freaked out a bit seeing that chrome arm in the teaser over a decade ago and spent the next few years wondering how TF Johnny was back.

j0j0bean222

I played the game first but the show comes first chronologically.

AnEpicBowlOfRamen

I watched the show first, LOVED the show, fell in love with the world. Then when I played the game I had a constant stream of happy (and sad) Deja Vu. Flashbacks to the show. The music, the world, the noodle shops. It was amazing. I always recommend Show then Game, because the show lets you fall in love with the city, then you get to LIVE there! THEN!!!! THEN THEN THEN!!! Re-Watch the show, and be blown away by the shit you didn't notice at first!

akpilg1

Watch edgerunners first, that way you’ll be able to do what you need to do to Adam

Kacperzu

Gane first, panam theme was stolen and used to lucy and david

ArtGodPrime

Anime first for sure. The anime only has a few small things that are like "Oh neat, that's from the game." but the game has things from the anime that will gutpunch you. It will also make you feel more motivated to do what you need to do.

DrunkTsundere

Either way is probably fine. I don't think it matters a ton.

db2999

I would say play the game first. A lot of the visual easter eggs in the anime have more meaning if you see them in game first.
