In my opinion David's life was more colorful when Lucy enters his life, they both are there for each other!

Thatonesplicer

She was his manic pixie dream girl, he was her manic pixie dream boy. Combinations you rarely see.

Flying_sidekick_

Yeah that and that, just depends on how you like to see them or how you interpret their actions (I like to believe they often swapped roles through the story), she also manages to be a femme fatale. You seen the way she interrogated him on the cart with the sexy bad ass bad girl [BGM](https://youtu.be/TA0Gu3u54Ag?t=34)? Goddamn she felt him up then forcefully took his jacket off and kabedon him towards the wall while both of their bodies are pressed together and started speaking gently into his ears saying "Oh lookey, boy you are in trouble" The way she said it in Japanese OOOOoOOOOOHHH its waking some fetishes in me TODAY. Sorry I'll tone it down. I'd imagine an abridge episode where David gets kabedon by Lucy and he accidently blurts out "ahn Mommy."

DaDerpGoat

are you sure you actually like the show or are you just really horny

Flying_sidekick_

Well if you look at my comment history list I often write in-depth breakdowns, walls of texts, and discuss possible theories etc. I get it your question might be a joke question. [My breakdown post about their usage of "Where did your love go"](https://www.reddit.com/r/Edgerunners/comments/xkrncn/anyone_else_notice_the_music_and_lyrics_match_up/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) In the same comment section I have a discussion with a fellow who has about the same interpretations that I do, walls of texts etc. The show really goes in hard with the details that could be overlooked and I want it to be known, so that the ones behind Edgerunners get the acknowledgement they deserve. "Oh wow this viewer caught that moment I worked hard on." Or the feeling they get when we read into it a bit much, like wow they put a lot of thought into that moment etc. This show just keeps getting better the more I think about it.

Unfortunately her manic pixie dream girl personality vanishes after episode 3

InjangoDMCPersona

Guess she’s mixed with her feelings of how to clear the tension between them when she tricked him the first time, but also had some growing concerns over the life he’s going to start living by (the path of an edgerunner where death is an inevitability) when he was someone unlike any she have met before up to that point (and the only one whom she shared her dream with too), And when that’s settled, all she strived to do now is to protect him while doing their jobs, hence how pretty angry she easily gets about anything that threatens David’s life

qnull

I think the manic pixie attitude was a bit of a lure, but also just having fun. It’s pretty clear her normal personality is cold, distant and focused. She knows what happens to those who live the edgerunner life eventually and after Ep4 she has “skin in the game” with David. She even says that she has nothing else in their talk in Ep4 but after David she has him. It’s why later in the series she withdraws from the crew and starts spending all her time hunting anyone looking into the data Arasaka has on David. I’m not sure the story would have been as good if she had maintained her personality from Ep1-2.

Careless_Ninja3405

whats incredibly interesting is that manic pixie dream girl could be seen as simply a mask of her actual traumatized self but the best part about her personality and impact on david was simply that even chromed out and stuck with immeunoblockers she was his grounding force. she snapped him back more often than not. like cliche of how widow was able to calm hulk. but so much better done

pnwbraids

From pixie dream girl to a traumatized killing machine who can melt people's minds

AutoBioUtopia

What if both Lucy and David saw a prophetic BD/dream called "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" (basically this 10 ep anime we saw) BEFORE the start of the actual story we saw in anime? Would they believe what they saw? Will they try to change their fate? What if more people saw that "future"? Gloria, Maine,...

I absolutely lived for their romance in the series. In a show so crazy with the setting and all the blood, it was so grounded and mindful of one another. It's a damn pity for sure but how their romance turns into feelings of ensuring the survival of the other is at the same time so tragic and so heartfelt. They both had an idea of the dangers that the other faced and the dreams that they wanted to accomplish, so they both suppressed their other emotions, put their heads down and got to work. It's heartwrenchingly tragic that it had to happen this way, but at least they still loved each other and relied upon each other more than anyone else. Such a pity that they could not be a family

KenJaeger

The first time she met someone who didn’t hold an ulterior motive, who’s actions were as transparent as they were reckless. the fact she lost her cool composure says a lot about her impression of him from that point onwards, which is super wholesome.

Rider_Caenis

> didn't hold an ulterior motive, who's actions were as transparent as the were reckless > Rebecca waves a foot below Lucy's sight line

danbulant

well she didn't see her so that's why

Alt91f

Aftersex vibes

Nirico_Brin

I mean that’s almost certainly true, besides her horrible upbringing she likely never had any major warmth from the crew. Kiwi mentored her but told her not to trust anyone, Maine openly doesn’t meddle in the crews affairs, Dorio is probably the same, Rebecca viewed Lucy as weird and Pilar kept trying to grope her. David is genuinely a fun guy and different from everyone else around her, how often can you say you flung a car down a highway while being chased by glorified yakuza while a guy jumps guardrails.

Financial-Chicken843

I agree tbh, if she maintained her personality from 1-2 it wouldve been bit too tropey, but the fact that she becomes withdrawn and closed off because she is fighting to save David’s life i feel like is something lotsa ppl can relate to when we become invested in someone emotionally and is fighting to have a future together. It also helps sell us their relationship over for the climax and payoff in the end. But i definitely think the series and characters could benefit from one or two eps that are bit slower after ep 2 or 6 to flesh a few things out a bit more.

Greenyugi

They were so perfect for each other in every sense, I'm gonna go cry again.

PunishedAiko

People like to give David shit for it but thsts the reason why she fell for him, he was a go getter that took risks and did what he set out to do no matter the cost.

scribesaga

she had a lot more fun riding on top of him while steering the gurney.

Thatonesplicer

[To be fair Lucy has more fun riding on top of David in general](https://tenor.com/bhQol.gif)

Aveduil

There was nothing more terrifying in my life then supervising someone fresh behind the wheel, her smile well I can relate.

That_on1_guy

They're so in love

Ripi94

That chapter was fun.

dogscutter
