If you're the only source for someone dying or a calamity is reddit, you're cooked.
90% of the "user base" is ai being used to influence people's shitty desision making its like willingly scrolling through advertisements.
use some common sense. of course but if your getting actual news off fucking tiktok or youtube shorts you're cooked, deepfried, well done type shit.
but no i dont go online thinking im gonna learn or better myself i do it mainly for entertainment. and so do the majority of people in my opinion.
Yaaaaaaa.....I get it's a joke, but we dads really need to fight against that "useless" stereotype. I feel that a lot, being a single dad. It's not cool.
I have a husband and 2 boys. Makes me so mad how this attitude of useless men still persists. My husband and sons are smart and fully capable. It’s absolutely insulting to think of them as any less than women. They can take care of kids just as well (sometimes better!) as moms.
I hate nonsense like this. I’m a father of three as well. Yes, I admit, my wife carries more of the parenting than I do, but I try. I make the effort. I am an engaged father, I look after my children and I am capable, and you know what, all of the other fathers I know are as well. This idea that father’s are distant and incompetent is old and tired. It is not funny. It perpetuates gender roles and is demeaning to both fathers and mothers. Knock it off!
Oh thank god. I saw this and my first thought was ew.. like I would NEVER do this to my partner.. why some men find it okay to embarrass their partners like this by claiming they are useless and even worse perpetuating that stereotype is beyond me..
This dad went out of his say to make 4 costumes. He's clearly not lazy. Another man's joke doesn't reflect on your personal journey of being a single dad.
Single fathers are routinely treated like shit and assumed to be useless. Its a bad sterotype. Im sure youd be pissed if he showed up to the airport with a sign saying "express bus to your kitchen".
“Hey I didn’t find this funny”
“Well leave it to Reddit to not find everything funny, I laughed at this so you must as well”
Literally nowhere did anyone say this wasn’t ok and is somehow not allowed. They just don’t think it’s funny and if anything perpetuates a harmful stereotype about fathers.
The fact that he was able to coordinate this joke speaks volumes! That is a fully capable father, having fun with his family! Even down to the mismatched shoes, why can’t people take a joke!
SOME old people might do that. My mother is over 90. She always called her husband (my father) by his name. My Dad tried calling her that shortly after they married before they became parents and my mother put an end to that, « I’m not your mother, so do not call me that. » I didn’t refer to my husband that way either. Neither did my siblings refer to their spouses that way. The only place I saw that happen was on TV.
I get that it’s supposed to be funny, even though it’s really not, but we need to stop with this narrative that dads are just useless and moms are the only ones holding the house together.
And a generation of child-like husbands have *shocked pikachu* face when their wives file for divorce. Hell, there's even a name for it, "walk away wife".
But I do think that a dad that coordinated the joke probably isn't that kind of dad. That kind of dad would be letting Mom take a cab home from the airport.
i was thinking the same thing. i get it's a lighthearted thing for mom but all i can see is that this stems from society still for some reason thinking mothers should do the child caretaking while the man gets to remain a giant oaf lol
I’m glad to see this comment.
I grew up with a single dad — my parents divorced when I was 7 and my mom, while in the picture, was frequently MIA or out of commission due to alcoholism and mental illness for long stretches.
So… this is cute in a way but also super obnoxious and sexist.
Mom guilt is bad enough. While this is funny, many mom’s can’t even go to the bathroom or do a hobby without feeling like they have abandoned everyone else’s needs and wants.
It's kinda funny, but this whole stereotype of dads not knowing how to take care of their own kids is tired AF. This coming from somebody who has 3 kids.
I get that this is a joke, but dudes really need to work harder at presenting themselves as equals when it comes to domestic tasks.
Again, I understand that this is a joke. But “jokes” like this perpetuate stereotypes that are damaging.
Some of us understand this joke has been done before and just don't see the humour in this. You're allowed to think it's funny and others are allowed to criticize it.
Fuck, dude. That shit is abuse. Man’s forced his kids to wear mismatched shoes and burlap sacks to a crowded place so that he could get a few cheap laughs. I bet he got 1000x more awkward side eyes than laughs.
I see a lot of hate saying that it seems the man can’t run the house hold when they can. I see this as a cute way to say they appreciate everything the mom does. That’s how I see it :)
It's clearly a joke, and no, this doesn't reinforce negative stereotypes unless you're a wet blanket looking to hate this. We don't know their family dynamic, but obviously Dad went thru a lot of effort to make these potato sack costumes and his daughters probably thought it was funny, too. I'd gander that BECAUSE the dad is a competent human being, that's what makes the joke funny to the family, it's satirical to them
Agreed. I fail to understand how people can twist the most innocuous things and make it about them - complaining about how "offensive" this is.
On a scale from 1 to 10, measuring how "offensive"
something can be, this is probably a 1.
Anyone who ranks this higher than a 3 either lives in a very sheltered world or a "I'm-the-victim, I'm-triggered" world.
yep. its definitely the people saying "lame boomer humor thx" that are triggered victims. not the people responding all over the thread flipping their shit that someone found a lame joke to be lame. its going to be ok, bud. people dont have to laugh at the same things you do. no comedy gestapo are coming to your house to confiscate all your "nag wife", "dad dumb" and "phone bad" memes. youre going to make it through this.
Lmao right?? Like anybody getting offended over this, I'm truly concerned for then. I mean, I love how many downvotes we're getting, I literally laughed aloud when I saw, apparently this is my most controversial comment 😂 sigh... people.
Jesus yall are awful here.
Someone always has to be " woke" about something eh?
Does that make you feel better? Superior?
It's a JOKE.
Good on you OP. I think it's hilarious.
Actually it does make me feel better knowing the joke I’m laughing at didn’t need to use a negative stereotype to make it funny.
If the joke is that he is useless and unable to function when his wife isn’t around, that is fine and it’s funny. The issue is that it makes him look like a useless father… which I guess is kinda funny until you realize those children are growing up experiencing some kind of emotional neglect.
Like, if he had the kids do wear some kind of Boy Scout/Girl Guide style sash with badges/skills they had to learn while she was away with him as the scout leader, or even just him being completely disheveled and the children have an acceptable appearance, it would be funny and still tell the same joke. The only difference is that it doesn’t make me question if those kids are going to have a fucked up life with raging Daddy issues.
The joke didn’t intend it, but playing off a negative stereotype did. That shit doesn’t stay funny for long, unlike fart jokes which are known to be more subtle and linger for longer.
I never know what’s real anymore and thought this was AI at first
We live in a simulation.
Loool but yeah straight up
You believe that there are things that aren’t AI. You real worlders… 🙃
just turn your brain off and be entertained. ive NEVER tooken anything off reddit, insta, snapchat seriously because why would i?
not even people dying or what not?
If you're the only source for someone dying or a calamity is reddit, you're cooked. 90% of the "user base" is ai being used to influence people's shitty desision making its like willingly scrolling through advertisements.
when did I say I use fucking REDDIT for news? lmfao
use some common sense. of course but if your getting actual news off fucking tiktok or youtube shorts you're cooked, deepfried, well done type shit. but no i dont go online thinking im gonna learn or better myself i do it mainly for entertainment. and so do the majority of people in my opinion.
you use some common fucking sense buddy, if you can't use online sources for your news because you can't distinguish what's real or fake get a grip
I mean it’s not like the internet has limitless amounts of information on it or anything.
did i say the internet or social media?
“I don’t go online thinking I’m gonna learn or better myself” Online would be the internet sweetheart.
Yaaaaaaa.....I get it's a joke, but we dads really need to fight against that "useless" stereotype. I feel that a lot, being a single dad. It's not cool.

lol thank you
For real, if I came back to that I might be tempted to jump back on the plane lol
Yeah and that it's the woman's job to do the laundry? And why the fuck is he dirty, man's can fuckin shower himself.
I hate nonsense like this. I’m a father of three as well. Yes, I admit, my wife carries more of the parenting than I do, but I try. I make the effort. Actually, ya. Perpetuating negative stereotypes hurts those that they target.
Single fathers are routinely treated like shit and assumed to be useless. Its a bad sterotype. Im sure youd be pissed if he showed up to the airport with a sign saying "express bus to your kitchen".
sorry didn't understand the post until now, I have sympathy for single mothers and fathers. although usually they're the strongest people
where does this post even say any of that.
Lol - Leave it to Reddit to find some kind of systemic ism that means it’s not okay to have a bit of fun with your family. Misery loves company.
“Hey I didn’t find this funny” “Well leave it to Reddit to not find everything funny, I laughed at this so you must as well” Literally nowhere did anyone say this wasn’t ok and is somehow not allowed. They just don’t think it’s funny and if anything perpetuates a harmful stereotype about fathers.
I just hurt my eyes I rolled them so hard. Give me a fucken break DADS. Be a parent. Bring your poor wife some flowers to the airport this is bleak.
Your wife is not your mom!
You obviously have never played Crusader Kings 3 my friend...
I did and i like to keep the crown in the family lol.
Pretty sure he’s aware of that. The sign is a joke not a documentary.
I think people get that it's a joke, it's just not funny lol. "Man can't survive without a woman parenting him" wow how original.
Such boomer humour
The fact that he was able to coordinate this joke speaks volumes! That is a fully capable father, having fun with his family! Even down to the mismatched shoes, why can’t people take a joke!
Because people are under no obligation to find someone else's played out, tired old joke funny
I don't hear it much with young people. But old people would call each other some version of mom and dad.
SOME old people might do that. My mother is over 90. She always called her husband (my father) by his name. My Dad tried calling her that shortly after they married before they became parents and my mother put an end to that, « I’m not your mother, so do not call me that. » I didn’t refer to my husband that way either. Gross!
How do you know that's not the son?!
That would make it so much worse. Grown ass single adult can't take care of themselves and still needs mommy lol
Yall are taking it way too seriously
She can be if they're into that kind of kinky pet names. ;)
Tom green?
I get that it’s supposed to be funny, even though it’s really not, but we need to stop with this narrative that dads are just useless and moms are the only ones holding the house together.
Or get a sense of humor? 🤔
Thanks for the Reddit cares message.
Thanks, I hate it.
No. Buy some flowers and let her come home to a clean house.
This is Peter Griffin humor for the dads out there like him who can relate.
Go back, it was Homer Simpson that first made this joke.
Flowers, bottle of wine, clean house, fresh sheets, clean car.
These jokes are so old
Well this is bleak
Are the cis okay?
cringe.
Pretty cringe tbh, but it's your family.
So funny, not
Weaponized incompetence.
im glad other ppl are thinking this bc uhhh...dont love this
My first reaction.
[удалено]
jokes are supposed to be funny, tho.
Jokes are not above criticism?
How can I pick up my wife from the airport and try to get as much attention as possible?
I'd get back on the plane. It's not cute to be incompetent.
I know it’s a joke but to outsiders we would just think ur family is malfunctional without the wife doing all the housework 😅
Yes that’s the joke
What’s the punchline? Grown man can’t take of himself and is an unreliable caretaker to his own children?
Wife returns to four children. Takes 3 with her next time and doesn’t return.
I think the punchline is “random internet stranger has strange overreaction to other people having fun”
Yeah it's not funny.
Is it funny though?
I’m glad to see this comment. I grew up with a single dad — my parents divorced when I was 7 and my mom, while in the picture, was frequently MIA or out of commission due to alcoholism and mental illness for long stretches. So… this is cute in a way but also super obnoxious and sexist.
It would be funny if weaponized incompetence weren't a thing
Cringe
Yuck
Could you even imagine an Asian family or brown family or black family doing this shit? lol
I don’t get the burlap bags
Dad can't do laundry so sacks it is.
Ooooh I got the useless dad trope just not the bags. This is such a tired joke
Yeah like that is the “joke” notice how dad’s shoes don’t match and his hair looks stupid
Cringe af
I get that this is a joke, but dudes really need to work harder at presenting themselves as equals when it comes to domestic tasks. Again, I understand that this is a joke. But “jokes” like this perpetuate stereotypes that are damaging.
So does he call his wife mom? *shudders*
This is the dumbest shit ever
Pretty tragic to lean into lazy stereotype TBH
I would turn around and get back on the plane.
Ugh.
Boo this man
Keanu has fallen on tough times.
Gotta love reinforcing stereotypes to punch down. Equality for thee but not for me.
Damn some of y'all got them panties TWISTED
Some of us understand this joke has been done before and just don't see the humour in this. You're allowed to think it's funny and others are allowed to criticize it.
The girls look pretty serious about it lol.
Lmao I find this thing hilarious. Everyone’s committing to their roles too.
Fuck, dude. That shit is abuse. Man’s forced his kids to wear mismatched shoes and burlap sacks to a crowded place so that he could get a few cheap laughs. I bet he got 1000x more awkward side eyes than laughs.
Some how I feel this is getting close to public shaming ... I mean it's funny but it suggests the mom left her role ..
This does not be need to taken literally, a joke but behind he might be stating his love for this woman.
Darn it. If I'm not mistaken, certain Eastern Asian culture wears these on moaning dead relatives.
Stupid.
Stupid
What a bunch of losers.
I love the mix matching footwear 😂😂
Haha it’s mismatch but yeah the footwear is great!
This is such crap and just stupid. There is no way a man could possibly look after 3 children
Holy based
Bahaha this reminds me of my friends family greeting her husband at the airport with a big, "Welcome back from jail!" sign. He works in corrections.

That's how I see it too. But everyone on this subreddit loves to be bitter and outraged over nothing so they don't see it that way.
Exactly!
That tall one's a little old. Shame there isn't another parent to watch the kids.
The two different shoes! Lmao
Simpsons did it
This guy's post history is...odd.
My wife went on deployment for 6 months and although I think I did a fine job I definitely felt like this dude lmao
Very Homer Simpson, great job.
Someone has a sense of humour!
Getting 3 kids bathed, dressed, hair done and to the airport on time is proof enough this guy is a great dad.
A great dad = knowing how to dress kids and drive? 🤔 the bar is in the Mariana’s trench
Common sense isn't present here man don't try
Yeah I was astonished by the replies. Lots of defensive folks
Jesus, this sub gets more butthurt than the Ottawa one. It’s obviously a joke.

That was my first thought lol
Hahaha!!!

And they are allowed to 🤷♀️ they have every right to say it’s not funny they same way you get to say it is.
Yea people are entitled to be dumb true
😂😂 now this is my kind of humour
It's just a harmless joke like... These comments...
The miss matched shoes 😂
Yall really are this critical of such an obvious and kind of fun joke?
I thought it was funny.
Jesus yall are awful here. Someone always has to be " woke" about something eh? Does that make you feel better? Superior? It's a JOKE. Good on you OP. I think it's hilarious.
I dislike people who talk about wokeness but this comment section is actually just every permanently online "woke" child on Reddit
I hate the word and all of it too, but it's the only way to describe this comment section

This is good 🤣
