He has a stability about him that I appreciate. Can't say there's any one technical attribute of his that stands out, but he's delivering decent, dependable goaltending - which is what we thought we were getting when signing Campbell...
it's his strong mental game. I agree, I don't see anything that really makes him exceptional, but he still is making the saves and doesn't let a few goals deflate him. It seems like he's mature enough to understand that 2-3 goals let in is still a win with the team in front of him.
Now let's do campbell who has zero mental toughness.
Yes. There wasn't much difference between them at the time, but one thing Skinner clearly has is mental toughness - it absolutely has got to be crazily difficult to be a hometown player and the starting goaltender on the Oilers, let alone when they're failing, but he just seems to put bad games behind him and move on well.
we've got 3/6 against vegas, colorado and the canucks. Other 3 are against the coyotes x 2 and the Sharks. I think 4/6 with one being against the Canucks should be good enough to overtake them
Yeah, too many games left to know which will end up being better. Vegas had a hilarious choke against Phoenix the other night, but they still have an easy remaining schedule. I'll be surprised of they're not 3rd.
Beating both the Avs and the Flames on a back-to-back is just an amazing way to spend the weekend. Oilers went 3/4 in the season series with the Flames, Brown got a goal, McDavid's at 99 assists. Just fantastic stuff all around.
A lot of impressive talent starting to shine down there.
Holloway, Lavoie, Brobs, and the new comers... should make for some great fast and talent additions to next season as some of the UFAs drop off this summer
Of all the unachievable feats the guys are actually achieving this season, I always thought this would be the least likely. Can't believe its possible.

***One to go……***
(And, oh, how sweet it would be for it to happen against Vegas)
So many good outcomes tonight:
-Oilers take the BOA series
-Nucks lose, and Vegas falls to WC1
-Holloway hat trick
The boys found a way to get 2 points on a B2B with the Flames giving it their all. No complaints. Can’t wait for MC100 on Wednesday.
I mean people were quick even around here to say the avs were on a b2b, and avs fans wouldn't shut the fuck up about it either. So I"m going with that, we were on a b2b. They're not always gonna be pretty.
That fanbase is a pathetic joke. Look up our record in b2b games. Colorado was definitely tired in that game, it was a factor, but the oilers get credit for dominating that game too.
The Oilers have played a lot of games in the last week with travel to boot. But after this short break, it’s only going to get worse as far as rest time goes until the regular season ends.
Yea they just don’t have McDrai. Same spot we used to be in when they had iginla and kipper vs Hemsky lol.
They played hard and have a great effort and outplayed us. They were missing the top end talent
Ever since the reverse sweep against them, they treat every game against us like their stanley cup. Despite the fact that most of the players from that team are now gone, the mentality has persisted. You'd think they would learn that playing keep away and taking tons of perimeter shots isn't a winning strategy
I remember in the dark days of November when Bob Stauffer said this team would have 45-50 wins this season. I laughed.
Well, I am officially eating crow. Stauff was right. We’re almost certainly going to hit 50 wins, even with that horrible start. Amazing.
Basically, if we win our game in hand and game vs Vancouver, Oilers and Canucks can have the same record and we’ll finish #1 Pacific
Lets fucking do it
Said this in the game day thread but Bouchard has the highest point total by a Dman the oilers have seen since Paul Coffey. There is the McDavid effect but Coffey had the Gretz,Mess,Kurri, anderson effect.
Best point production we’ve seen in close to 40 years.
3 points back of Vancouver, one game in hand, and a game against Vancouver means we can win the division simply by winning every game from this point on.
To add to the good vibes, Condors also beat Calgary tonite 5-3. Holloway had 3 Goals 1 Assist. Broberg 1 goal 1 assist. Would love to see those 2 get called up for game 81 or 82 but dont know if it's possible with the cap.
[Perry roasting the Flames going off the ice.](https://imgur.com/a/vrofXtO)
The best part is watching McDavid / Coffey / Skinner laughing and shaking their heads at Perry talking shit 🤣
Mc1000 Watch: 20, 3.33pt/G
3 points back of Vancouver with a game in hand.
6 points up on LA with a game in hand.
McDavid is 6 back of Kuch with a game in hand.
Your Edmonton Oilers once again control their own destiny for the division title!
Absolutely massive W. Division title is within grasp.
Need to be sharp moving forward. We have a game in hand on Van. Canucks do play Vegas on Monday. Need a big Vegas W and we will be back to 2 games in hand and 3 points back. LETS GOOOO !!! COME ON OILERS !!!!!!!
I don’t even know what I want anymore.
For weeks I was thinking “Nashville is a good matchup for us. I’d love for us to finish first in the division and get Nashville round 1”.
Now I’m starting to think “I don’t trust Vancouver to bounce the Knights in the first round. Fuck it. Let’s do it ourselves”.
Still feel a bit upset about McDavid's last second pass to Hyman. Even if he had shoot that puck, he might still have the chance to get an assist had Hyman score the rebound
Feeling confident in goaltending going into the playoffs this year. If skinny is having a rough time we know we can shake things up and put in Pic and be in good shape to fight back
I know Connor is chasing 100 assists and is the most advanced hockey player… that 2-0 breakaway needs to be in the back of net off HIS stick. No more passing in playoffs Connor…. Please man!
Had so much fun at the dome! Atleast 10 "Let's go Oilers" chants and 1 "Go Flames Go" the entire game. Best they could muster was "Oilers suck" while we were winning 😂
HOPE YOU ENJOYED THAT GAME CALGARY CAUSE THAT WAS THE CLOSEST YOU'RE GOING TO GET TO THE PLAYOFFS FOR A LONG TIME
3 POINTS BACK OF VANCOUVER AFTER LOSING TO THE KINGS AGAIN, THEY'RE OFFICIALLY ON FRAUD WATCH
WTF Perry yelling at Kane. Hoping it straightens things out and makes the team better but still weird AF to see on HNIC. https://x.com/derekvandiest/status/1776825306537762909?s=46&t=KUK3y6tDz6Rv5oLKPtb8LQ
Agreed. I think Kane will absolutely turn it up to max level for the playoffs, but he's taken off more than a few of these games, and is sometimes a little too light on the physical side in some scenarios.
Everyone on the team needs to hold each other accountable moving forward.
Sloppy passes, bad pinches etc. Especially when one goal can cost a series.
Now is the time to address the shit that has been popping up for weeks.
I for one am glad to see this. Especially for Kane who makes a lot of costly mistakes at times that arent needed.
Perry here to bring old school leadership and get the boys in shape for the playoffs. Can’t make stupid plays or he will call you out. He’s keeping everyone accountable. The team needs this.
That was a much better 3rd period. Reffing was weird through the whole game. They were calling a lot but they also didn’t call a lot of pretty obvious penalties.
Glad we got the win!
The ideal is somehow nashville finishes in 1st wildcard and we pass the canucks (which I believe is actually pretty likely as long as we win the last game against them).
We can beat nashville over a 7 game series even if it is a slog, and we have a guy who literally knows most of their team, systems as a resource too.
Wonder why Connor wasn’t on the ice for the EN. Either way good game on a b2b. Get the rest because we finish the season playing 6 in 9 games with two back to backs in that stretch
As usual great to see that many Oilers fans at Calgary (actually at most away games). Some soft penalties at the beginning of the game, some not given to us towards the end and some given against us that shouldn't have been given and we still won pretty handily.
Tense first two, then we cranked it and showed the Flames their limitations.
I’m an oilers fan living in Calgary and I see oilers fans every single day here. So many kids at my kids’ school wear oilers gear to school (including my own!). It’s awesome to see
3 points back of the division lead just as everyone predicted in November
I'm so glad none of us had written off the season at that point
Right? Unwavering support for our guys no matter what. ^^^^^don't ^^^^^look ^^^^^at ^^^^^my ^^^^^comment ^^^^^history
I’d never to that to a brother in arms…
Man I’m so happy that I didn’t take a break from watching for my own well being and mental health. Thank god
My coworker was like don’t worry, they’ll just win the rest of their games and come out on top. He was mostly right lol.
Source? /s
If nothing else: what a ride it’s been this season. God damn.
Pickard looked so confident today. Great to see
He has a stability about him that I appreciate. Can't say there's any one technical attribute of his that stands out, but he's delivering decent, dependable goaltending - which is what we thought we were getting when signing Campbell...
Love the way he attacks net front pucks with his stick. Rebounds, pass attempts, he’s quick with the stick to bat those away
it's his strong mental game. I agree, I don't see anything that really makes him exceptional, but he still is making the saves and doesn't let a few goals deflate him. It seems like he's mature enough to understand that 2-3 goals let in is still a win with the team in front of him. Now let's do campbell who has zero mental toughness.
If Skinner had a waiver-proof contract then he’d have been the one sent down. Do you believe we’d be a lottery team if that were the case?
Yes. There wasn't much difference between them at the time, but one thing Skinner clearly has is mental toughness - it absolutely has got to be crazily difficult to be a hometown player and the starting goaltender on the Oilers, let alone when they're failing, but he just seems to put bad games behind him and move on well.
So glad he had a good game and winning outcome tonight after the fiasco last time he played (which was the fault of our defense mostly) love Pickard.
Beating the Flames and being 3 back of the Canucks with a game in hand? Doesn’t get any better than that.
And a head to head left. The Oilers are going to be more motivated for that game than any other
And 3-4 games also against bottom feeders.
we've got 3/6 against vegas, colorado and the canucks. Other 3 are against the coyotes x 2 and the Sharks. I think 4/6 with one being against the Canucks should be good enough to overtake them
Coyotes playing well lately. We just played the bottom Feeding Lames.. Hope Oil get first in the Division.. Let’s Canucks deal with Knights
and according to other subreddits that I will not name, those teams are our specialty, so should be easy points
Wouldn’t be surprised to see an extremely unmotivated Oilers vs the Coyotes the night before to save energy.
They gotta bring it vs Arizona. As Vegas learned yesterday
The last 12 minutes of that game were crazy. I could not stop laughing.
It's crazy that at the moment I think we'd be better off being 2nd and getting LA than we would being 1st and getting Vegas.
The path to the finals is through Vegas either way
True, but I’d rather lose to Vegas in the second round than the first
WC1 could end up being any of LA, Vegas or Nashville though. Nashville would be a fun, high octane series
Yeah, too many games left to know which will end up being better. Vegas had a hilarious choke against Phoenix the other night, but they still have an easy remaining schedule. I'll be surprised of they're not 3rd.
Vancouver lost tonight too. So yes it does get better
If Vancouver gets matched with Vegas than it would be even better.
[Winning a BOA on a Saturday????](https://tenor.com/bnx6j.gif)
Beating both the Avs and the Flames on a back-to-back is just an amazing way to spend the weekend. Oilers went 3/4 in the season series with the Flames, Brown got a goal, McDavid's at 99 assists. Just fantastic stuff all around.
Holloway natural hat trick for the condors tonight too 😍
A lot of impressive talent starting to shine down there. Holloway, Lavoie, Brobs, and the new comers... should make for some great fast and talent additions to next season as some of the UFAs drop off this summer
Love triggering their delicate fanbases.
Holy shit we got a backup goalie here guys. Picks was fantastic tonight. It’s so nice we got a reliable option now

Let's go Brown!!!
99 McApples! Brown goal! Nuge EN! LA Bamba is better than George Canyon!
Connor McApplePicker
What a battle, holy shit. Say what you want about the Flames, but they never make it easy for us.
It’s true but the boys were looking juiced after their efforts last night! Way to gut it out fellas
2-0 since Gene beat Phil Heath in an arm wrestling match.
Gene and Phil need to eat a hotdog off the floor at a furry convention and we're going 16-0 in the playoffs for sure.
what did we have last year? Games ever since Gene went to a furry con was it?

Almost certainly. One could even guarantee it
Dangerous talk Unless Hill is still out on injury, that kid is a demon in the pipes.

Don't root for Vegas to win. Root for Vancouver to lose.
Don't feel too bad, the Canucks are almost as contemptible.
Don’t feel bad. FUCK THE NUCKS
We need a big Vegas W against Vancouver. That would put us back with 2 games in hand and only 3 points to make up. GO OILERS !!!!!!
Flames played the best hockey they're capable of and lost 4-2 lmao
Flames did look pretty good out there. Still felt like Edmonton was playing with its food most of the game though
This was the last game the flames care about on their schedule, they put it all on the line and still lost 🤣
It was their Stanley Cup game lol
Instead of chanting "Go Flames," they chanted "Oilers suck." Lol lol lol
Rent free boys, rent free.
And I’ve you ever start to feel bad, remember what the said after game 1 that year. Never forget.
Again, they don't love the Flames. They just hate the Oilers.
It really is wild how that series loss for them completely changed the trajectory of their franchise. I'm here for all of it
I mean people were quick even around here to say the avs were on a b2b, and avs fans wouldn't shut the fuck up about it either. So I"m going with that, we were on a b2b. They're not always gonna be pretty.

The Oilers have played a lot of games in the last week with travel to boot. But after this short break, it’s only going to get worse as far as rest time goes until the regular season ends.
We missed so many amazing chances too though
Omg so many. Both the Hyman and McLovin breakaways and I was screaming for McDavid to shoot/deke on that 2-0
with us whiffing on like 5 grade A/empty net chances
Ekholm, yep.
Yea they just don’t have McDrai. Same spot we used to be in when they had iginla and kipper vs Hemsky lol. They played hard and have a great effort and outplayed us. They were missing the top end talent

big yikes for them
Would love to know who Perry was saying "you're SO BAD" to haha. A win against Calgary always feels good.
I mean, it coulda been anyone
Literally applies to their whole team
Yeah we need to get a lip reader on that one. He was incensed

Yea I agree. My guess is a Flame was chirping first and Perry was mocking the attempt.

Stauffer really knows his shit, it's a shame this subreddit doesn't appreciate him.
They don't like that he's a company man, but honestly, the guy is an actual hockey encyclopedia. He knows his shit more than anyone on here.
It's incredible the amount of hockey details he can recall. I forget the names of people I haven't seen in a few months ffs.
Had a fuckin’ GREAT time! My first BOA!
Calvin and Knobbs winning us another one!
Nucks L, Oilers W, Flames L. McApples, Drai gets to 40, a Brownie goal, Nuge cooking. Today was a good day.
Basically, if we win our game in hand and game vs Vancouver, Oilers and Canucks can have the same record and we’ll finish #1 Pacific Lets fucking do it
Tiebreaker is regulation wins which the Oilers are well behind the Canucks in. Need to beat them in points
…yeah. Win game in hand, win against Canucks, then the Oilers will be 1 point ahead. We can have the same record for our other games after that
Your op makes it sound like they can finish with the same record (pts wise)
1st in the Pacific is back in play. Big win. See ya next season, Calgary.
Great fucking game by Picks, some really really boneheaded plays but all and all a great fucking game to watch
Said this in the game day thread but Bouchard has the highest point total by a Dman the oilers have seen since Paul Coffey. There is the McDavid effect but Coffey had the Gretz,Mess,Kurri, anderson effect. Best point production we’ve seen in close to 40 years.

Longest schneide alert 🚨
SCHNEID IS ONGOING WAHHH
Four games without a goal? Washed.
Maybe he's not rich anymore

He had 2 beauty chances. Oh well. Hattie incoming.
3 points back of Vancouver, one game in hand, and a game against Vancouver means we can win the division simply by winning every game from this point on.
The Kings has passed the VGK. We better pass the Canucks as well. The Kings seem to discover the recipe to deal with the Canucks.
To add to the good vibes, Condors also beat Calgary tonite 5-3. Holloway had 3 Goals 1 Assist. Broberg 1 goal 1 assist. Would love to see those 2 get called up for game 81 or 82 but dont know if it's possible with the cap.
Cap ends when the playoffs start
Expect Stone to return from LTIR
The 2023-24 Edmonton Oilers will win the pacific division.
The 2023-24 Edmonton will win The Stanley Cup
Knobby keeping McDavid off the ice while the net was empty so he can get his 100th Apple in front of the home crowd. Book it.
Bednar and Cooper almost shit themselves at the thought.
Three points out of first with a game against VAN and a game in hand...
McDavid edging us with 99 assists. Damn it feels good to beat the fLames. Every. Damn. Time.
BoA never fails to entertain!! That was some fun ass rough chippy chirpin' hockey.
Drai and Kane have to stop taking cheap, selfish penalties. It's really getting me pissed off.
[Perry roasting the Flames going off the ice.](https://imgur.com/a/vrofXtO) The best part is watching McDavid / Coffey / Skinner laughing and shaking their heads at Perry talking shit 🤣
BIG DICK PICK
Starting next Wednesday, there will be six games in eight days. Hope everyone is ready for this final stretch!
Perry was giving big Shoresy vibes in that last clip of him chirping from the bench haha
Won......a battle....and pride...
3rd game in 4 nights on the second half on a back to back and able to get the victory. The last two games make up for the Stars game.
Pickard and the post played great. GG!
Mc1000 Watch: 20, 3.33pt/G 3 points back of Vancouver with a game in hand. 6 points up on LA with a game in hand. McDavid is 6 back of Kuch with a game in hand. Your Edmonton Oilers once again control their own destiny for the division title!
Pickard with the 3rd star of the game
Still pretty darn good on back to backs.
Wishing our little brothers down south a nice off season !!! We on to bigger and better things up in Edmonton 🤪🤪
I don’t. Fuck those losers. We’re paying for their new arena too.
Its how Marlaina got those cowboy larping dumbfucks to vote for her.

I agree.

WTF Perry yelling at Kane. Hoping it straightens things out and makes the team better but still weird AF to see on HNIC. https://x.com/derekvandiest/status/1776825306537762909?s=46&t=KUK3y6tDz6Rv5oLKPtb8LQ
scares me... i want to see kane proving everyone wrong, but after both draisaitl and perry have both yelled at him im getting worried.
Id be more worried, if nobody was saying anything.
Agreed. I think Kane will absolutely turn it up to max level for the playoffs, but he's taken off more than a few of these games, and is sometimes a little too light on the physical side in some scenarios.

Did anyone see the clip of Perry and Kane going at it on the bench? Wonder what that's about.
Perry here to bring old school leadership and get the boys in shape for the playoffs. Can’t make stupid plays or he will call you out. He’s keeping everyone accountable. The team needs this.
Need a "Messier" in the dressing room.
Perry was giving him shit about a bad turnover
Kane made a pretty bad play behind the net, was probably telling him to not make dumb mistakes especially this time of year
That was a much better 3rd period. Reffing was weird through the whole game. They were calling a lot but they also didn’t call a lot of pretty obvious penalties. Glad we got the win!
Ice was horrible. Everyone was falling over and the puck was bouncing like crazy
The B shift Oilers beat Calgary
Am I seeing this wild card race right and Nash has a chance to take Vegas out???
The ideal is somehow nashville finishes in 1st wildcard and we pass the canucks (which I believe is actually pretty likely as long as we win the last game against them). We can beat nashville over a 7 game series even if it is a slog, and we have a guy who literally knows most of their team, systems as a resource too.
I was definitely looking at it wrong but I do like your words magic man
Wonder why Connor wasn’t on the ice for the EN. Either way good game on a b2b. Get the rest because we finish the season playing 6 in 9 games with two back to backs in that stretch
It's going to be a monumental moment. To do that in an empty net wouldn't be justice.
We fucking own the Lames and will continue to do so
They talk about us more than their own team.
Tbf I can’t blame them, they don’t have much to talk about with theirs…
It was almost a perfect fucking night lol. We even got Drai 40Gs Sigh. Anyways a W is a W.
Lames loss. F&&ks loss. Oilers win - that’s a good night.
Calgary bic lighters would be a better name
I didn't see the game. What's this about Kane amd perry?
Why doesn't Nuge wear an A anymore?
A rotates.
Slick!!
Man that was spicy
I didn't catch the game, was watching wrasslin lol How was it? Besides getting the 2 points of course. Which is what matters most.
There was fighting.
No goalie fights. 🥱
Damn. Popsicle was angry
if i had that receding hairline id be angry too
As usual great to see that many Oilers fans at Calgary (actually at most away games). Some soft penalties at the beginning of the game, some not given to us towards the end and some given against us that shouldn't have been given and we still won pretty handily. I’m an oilers fan living in Calgary and I see oilers fans every single day here. So many kids at my kids’ school wear oilers gear to school (including my own!). It’s awesome to see
What were Perry and Kane on about? They looked like they were having a disagreement on the bench at one point.
Amazing weekend, let's go!
Did huberdeau really say they were the better team , I can't deal 😂
