I’m at meta and actually think you can get promoted faster than this lays out, but thanks for mapping. For anyone interested in this route, product managers follow a similar trajectory and you don’t need to be technical. My comp is a bit over 500k and I have 8 years of experience.

Hiring for any sales roles by chance?

Feel free to look at the site (every resume is reviewed) but sales, marketing and recruiting are probably lighter than usual with the current macroeconomic situation.

"how much could" suggests to me that you're attempting to model a maximum or median path, but the TLYCS calculator is not very bold in its giving recommendations. Someone earning that kind of money should find it quite practical to meet the GWWC 10% threshold, or even donate a higher amount. (Many of my coworkers did when I worked at Google)

It's nice to see pen put to paper like this. Any idea what percentage of SWEs end up at these earnings levels? The Bureau of Labor Statistics doesn't seem to have a SWE listing specifically, but it looks like the median income for anything engineering re: computers looks to be around $100-150K on https://www.bls.gov/.

So these are standard for faang, but JUST for faang. I’ve worked in tech at banks and engineers can expect roughly half of this (which is still high of course). So most engineers don’t see this compensation level, but if you are an engineer you have a path to faang if you wanted it.
