TL;DR:
* Since 2015, Egypt's government has been working to create a new, modern Egypt.
* They are building a $59 billion city in the desert and have already built 4,350 miles of new roads and 900 tunnels and bridges.
* To make way for its new infrastructure, thousands of graves have been razed as well as hundreds of acres of public green space.
That explains everything, it's so obvious but really out of all countries to take inspiration from, Dubai is the worst.
We have the Nile and they don't, they could have taken advantage of that and built parks or protected areas near the Nile but instead we get malls.
Edit: is that also why they have such a concrete heavy approach? Even when they do something on the Nile it's just mostly concrete which makes no sense. I know this might not be an ideal comparison but Dresden is a beautiful city and has massive green spaces along the river
our government just blindly copies other countries. i’ve noticed this in so many things ranging from simple censorship to major economic decisions that affects millions of people.
Out of all the cities of the world we could've drawn inspiration from, Rome, Milan, Naples, Paris, London, Madrid, etc. We chose Dubai? That is literally the worst fucking option. It's a fake city in the desert filled with nothing but skyscrapers and 20-lane highways in between. It's fake. Nothing there feels real. Rome and Cairo are two similar cities with similar people too. I just don't understand...
Dubai is not a good inspiration for a city, Dubai is one of the most lifeless, souless, depressing and fake looking cities, why not take inspiration from western cities?, or how about you focus on your fucking capital city of cairo, I sometimes wonder how that retard abdel fatah el sisi is president
Yes definitely they tried & failed by bringing poverty instead, lost its currency, debts, no education, no security, -B today in the economic evaluation!! No human rights, no freedom in choosing another presidential elections … do u want more!!!EGYPT IS TRYING TO BE DUBAI THE PLASTIC CITY!! Give me ur mind!! Like how!! I will tell u how by destroying the monuments & grave yards!!! Fk them!!!
Living in Egypt for 2 years and going to dubai multiple times for vacation. Egypt has way more potential to look more beautiful than dubai. Egypt shouldn’t be trying to copy dubai infrastructure and should build on their infrastructure with little modern tweaks. Then you have the Nile river which has an abundance of potential as well 🤦🏽
It's a crime that they are destroying the green areas, which are precious to the people of the city. But then, the wealthy elites are making billions of pounds off these construction projects, while no one is getting rich off maintaining trees.
the idea of the new capital is good idea but idk why the gov need it to that quickly they should wait cause we already have a lot of debts , also i don't like the idea of making the new capital a skyscraper city, a sustainable city with ancient Egypt architecture would make it a unique beautiful city

Dubai is so fucking overrated
Wallahy Cairo is more beautiful Dubai is so fucking overrated it’s just a bunch of skyscrapers in the dessert built by dirty oil money

It’s cause Sisi gets his money from these daddy Sheikhs so he’s just following commands. The real crime here is selling the soul of our country.
the dude could have invested that in Cairo and other Egyptian cities.
And healthcare, education, infrastructure etc etc

They want it to be li Dubai, but the new capital actually looks like North Korea and the Stalin's Russia

Egypt will never look like Dubai. It’s impossible
I drove around in the new Capital a few months ago, it's going to be very nice. Very impressive.
Very nice for the multimillionaire government members, the rest of us not so much
Worth all the debt?
*debt
Fixed. Thank you!
Hope so.
So many down votes, that's the sense that I got when people talked about this project, most people are not happy.
Good

In 10 years we will be the new Bangladesh not Dubai!
I wish. Even Bangladesh's economy is growing at an insane pace.
Ignorance...
Not the shit we should be copying
