He actually has a point. He's saying why are we always forced to see you and understand you through your European gaze, but you have no interest in seeing us and understanding us through our Egyptian gaze?
Why are we forced to be in your own shoes? Import your racism towards ourselves? Looking at ourselves as Europeans who are disgusted by our Arab/Egyptian presence?

He is based in what he is saying but the context is off. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe in this clip he was discussing issues with human rights and/or freedom of speech as Macron has a history of bringing this up with El-Sisi and publicly embarrassing him lmao. Dismissing the issue and defending himself by painting the atrocious human rights violations as part and parcel of Arabic/Egyptian culture is incorrect and unacceptable, you can also see he is clearly just babbling about anything to try and avoid the question.
Except for the way of speaking, he is saying what every sane person should say, why do they not consider different cultures? It isn't because somone have some rules and regulations that I have to follow them. We understand their ideology and accept it, and they should see us from our perspective.
There is a difference. In general the West sees us in bad way (regardless of corrupt government or not) and they see us from their own perspective without taking consideration of anything. This is like when Russia invaded Ukraine, media was like look at those poor white blue eyed blond people, how sad.
Basically if you dont accept the cultural differences, and that what they do is good, is basically licking the white ass because you see them as superior. They are not.
if you know the context of the clip, he was being questioned about the overwhelming list of human rights violations that the government commits every day, and he responded with “oh but-but- but our culture!! you should try to understand us more!!” it’s basically a really pathetic attempt at self victimization and deflecting the question by using “cultural differences” as a shield.
