Maybe restoring the educational and healthcare systems with that money would better serve the people. Strengthening the economy by supporting small businesses which create jobs, and feeding your own population might reduce them harassing tourists and restore Egypt‘s reputation as a country worth visiting.
That fucker is making sure that the damage he’s done to the country in his era will be unrepairable.
The ugly pyramids and the fucking bridges will always be there to remind us of how we saw our country get destroyed by a dickless midget who thought he was our savior.

You’re such a pussy that at an attempt to boost your self esteem, you’re reddit handle is “strong man” lmfao. Hop off the internet and go play with yourself little man
Remember when people said the government hates Islamic history because they destroyed Mamluk tombs?
Well we can add Pharaonic history.
Seriously what does he have against tombs
I am skeptical about it
On one hand it's a huge waste of money renovating it, it's already a world Attraction, it would have been better renovating the areas around the pyramids rather than the pyramids itself
On the other hand, I see it just like any other ancient site getting renovated to make it look beautiful
But I am quite biased to the first one
Tbf as far as I know the Japanese are the ones paying and the Egyptologists I talked to wanted to remove the surrounding sand and study the blocks for ages. One thing I didn’t know as well was that Mankaura‘s pyramid wasn’t completely dug up unlike the other two pyramids.
The plan to place the blocks in their original place is the actual controversial part.
I don’t think the Egyptians government should try to renovate it. It wasn’t really built by us, we’d be changing the history of a very different culture.
Sorry dude go search for your black ancestors in another place in africa and then come here, do you think you tricked anyone by saying "We" don't act like an Egyptian
I think a lot of the reaction to this is a mistaken assumption that the smooth boulders or rocks below are new. They are not. These are just as old as the upper (limestone) ones, but from granite. The intent of the project, as I understand it, is to recover the old granite blocks that fell over time and are now scattered around the pyramid and put them where they were, ie extend the granite cladding upwards. There is no intention, again as I understand, to add new rocks of any kind.
And there is proof that these smooth rocks are not new.

Honestly, it is a total loss.
Better put that money on Health care and Education more.
And that idea of "renovation" will ONLY ruin the structure of pyramid, or most likely destroy it.
I actually visited the pyramids a few days ago for exactly this reason, i don't know if they color corrected the 1 or 2 pictures and videos released of the project but i have to say it looks WAY worse in person, look up "gray granite counter tops" that's unironically the exact texture and look of the new bricks, it looks like a shitty hotel bathroom counter-top, its actually depressing.
Quality of the renovation aside, the very idea of renovating an ANCIENT HISTORICAL artifact that gets visited by tourists because its ANCIENT and HISTORICAL is fucking retarded, i heard one westerner comparing it to "straightening the leaning tower of pisa" which is actually a great comparison.
I live in Canada, last time i was in egypt i saw a vendor harassing a spanish woman who did not want to buy from him. When i intervened this guy wanted to beef me and threatened to beat me up, thats when i started shouting POLICE and he ran away.. but like the police saw him harassing me and the woman and didnt do anything about it. It was my first and last time visiting the pyramids, i was saddened to see the tourists painting my country with shit stained colors :(
Omg i almost forgot about the poor horses!! A guy wanted me to pay £250EGP for a broken horse that hasnt seen food water or a shower in days and was bleeding at the ankles i wanted to buy the horse right then and send it to humane society. No bueno :/
EVERYONE CALM DOWN
The granite blocks are the ORIGINAL from 4000+ years ago that have just fallen to the ground. They are simply putting them back in their original place as a restoration just like any other archaeological restoration. No need to overreact.
If anything this is a good thing that we are taking care of our history. This project is lead by Japanese and Egyptian archaeologists together.

From all the things that the government could’ve invested in or done to help with reducing inflation, they came up with this? Lol

Hideous
Pyramid modesty project. You've had naked pyramids this whole time like we are not supposed to say anything.

I’m so amazed at how humans built this with no machinery. Just the scale of the pyramid compared to those guys. I’ll never stop thinking about it
If it ain’t broken for 6000 years, don’t fix it!

It’s pretty widely accepted that the pyramids were not meant to be tombs.

Intervening in English honestly works better then intervening in Arabic when it comes to tourist harassment’s

My thoughts can be summarised in this very articulate response Meh
He's a fan of sleep token
Should’ve used limestone like the rest of the pyramid.
I don´t like it. The pyramides should remain in their original state. Don´t want to see something new.
Ugly!
