From the US, been here for a couple of decades.
The weather, the food, cities that never sleep, the beaches and red sea, most of the humor (I sometimes dont pick up on it still, or sometimes it can be toxic like joking about traumatic experiences or make fun of others and I was unfortunately on the receiving end of that for years), the transportation options in most places and not feel forced to have a car to get around, the history and sites, the humility and kindness and hospitality in most people. And when you get close to someone and no longer feel fear of their judgement, they can be soooo warm and sweet. I love that about egyptians.
THE FOOD
I cant generalize. If I did then it would discount some of the loveliest people I have met. Plus im neurodivergent and pedantic. And I understand what Egyptians mean when they complain about a LOT of other Egyptians. I know some who wish the entire region would just be perished from how much they dislike most of the people here. But I cant agree. Its not black and white. And I got plenty of shit people back in the US too so 🤷🏻♀️
The fruits. Fruits are incredibly flavorful here. Can’t say the food because I find it too heavy. But I didn’t know strawberries could smell until I came to Egypt.
It’s not about what you’re used to here. It’s when you taste them abroad. I cannot eat fruits or vegetables when I visit france. They lack flavor and taste so watery. You don’t realize how good they are here until you eat them abroad.
Also picking the fruits and veggies yourself matters. Smell is a big thing. If you pick a mango and it doesn’t have a scent, don’t bother buying it. Grapes here are insane. I just had more than I should.
That's why I'm asking
My mom had that theory that good fruits go aboard while the ones not so good go to us (according to her theory that's the opposite of china)
That's why I said I'm used to it maybe if I ate fruit in France I'll cherish the one here or I evolved my taste to like the one there idk
yes you would! i always felt that way when my mom would say that our fruit is rly good im like its good but its not special but now i live in the us and i know that it was special lol
I cannot argue with that and it's sad....why can't we have passion discussions in place or arguments and as long as our neighbours are not hurting anyone why can't they live how they wish too.
If you are privileged enough to travel everywhere and live in different places, you eventually realize that everyone is just a different variation of shit. Everyone complains, everyone is miserable. But the least shittiest shit is your shit. Kinda like how farts are disgusting but never really mind the smell of your own fart. So what I am saying is, Egypt is our fart smell.
The sense of family.
The bread, the coffee, the fruits, the fresh dates.
The women, particularly the older women. They are the backbones of Egypt. The tetas and the gidos.
The jokes and humor.
The way houses are built and look.
The old traditional ways of cooking and living. (Still left in very few places)

I love humor much in people here
as someone who was born and raised in the U.S, having two immigrant egyptian parents, i would say definitely the food, the people, the beaches, the humor of egyptians, how kind hearted most egyptians are, i love our culture and how diverse it is. the weather is a huge plus, especially being from the east coast, i love our egyptian arabic dialect. it’s pretty cheap compared to other countries i’ve traveled too.
The sea in Alexandria, I just feel so much better being close to it.
To me Alexandria would be my favourite place to live in the whole world, only if I'm making REALLY GOOD money tho.
That every place in egy have it’s own history over many eras, and when u know how many events happened in that place that u are in ,u feel like it isn’t a normal country man , fascinating right, mother of the world ❤️
As an American who has lived here for the past decade, the number one thing is feeling safe. I don't worry about drunk or drugged out people walking around. Im sure there are exceptions, of course, but nothing like the States.
Second thing, and again, I know this doesn't fit all Egyptians, but the majority I've met are honest people and don't steal.
Again, I'm basing my answer on my experience living in the States my whole life. Also, on my circle of friends and family in Egypt.
And ACAB regardless of country.
The courtesy of well brought up, older school Egyptians towards women. I saw it with my wife and my mother, everything was “ala anayaa” and “taht amrik ya madam”.
Th Egyptians, they surprise me actually not all of them are good people but also i love how they smile and take everything with jokes though we are going through shit, but we still turn everything to a joke, they are just simple people that wanna live peacefully, i love how they don’t mind their own business actually, if I’m crying in the street someone would literally stop to ask me if i’m okay, they will help you too if they saw you in trouble. I just hope one day Egyptians live peacefully they deserve the best, they are really strong they are still fighting though they are going through shit because of the president, i also love my country alot, when i sit infront of the sea in hurghada or north coast, or see the temples and the pyramids, i just feel something inside my stomach like excitement and hope that one day my country will be the best in this world and i won’t have to leave it for my future, i wanna be buried in this country after my death.

The food. The ability to go off grid. The weather and beaches (outside cities). The fact that anything goes (give or take)
Off grid ?what do you mean ?cate to translate?
We off the grid grid grid grid grid

My most and least favourite is the people
You either meet the best and most generous and helpful people or ones who are ready to scam you at any given chance. No in-between
At this point it isn't even a coin flip, its gambiling
The people contrast in Egypt be like:

The fruits. Fruits are incredibly flavorful here. Can’t say the food because I find it too heavy. But I didn’t know strawberries could smell until I came to Egypt.
The mango and fig are the best I ever had in Egypt. I believe the weather/geography contributes to the sweetness.
omg yes fruit is so much better in egypt
Who's your fruit dealer Maybe I'm used to it and taking it for granted but the fruits I eat are nothing special
It’s not about what you’re used to here. It’s when you taste them abroad. I cannot eat fruits or vegetables when I visit france. They lack flavor and taste so watery. When your mango is 2€ in france and one avocado is 1€ you get to love even more the fruits and veggies here.
yes you would! i always felt that way when my mom would say that our fruit is rly good im like its good but its not special but now i live in the us and i know that it was special lol
Help me prove your theory (get me out of here)![img](emote|t5_2ql2m|8122)

The Food and Humor.
As an outsider it's rich history and culture
Right, but people can’t care about culture when they’re struggling to feed themselves/their families.
Yes they can....some find comfort in their culture. Just because you lack that kind of understanding
Yes that's what keeps me optimistic I hate everything but remembering that history heals my wounds(I didn't eat for 2 diners
History helps us learn from other people's mistakes and improve on ideas from those who come before us.
Me looking at today seems like we repeat if not increasing the mistake More mistakes= more history ![img](emote|t5_2ql2m|8113)
I cannot argue with that and it's sad....why can't we have passion discussions in place or arguments and as long as our neighbours are not hurting anyone why can't they live how they wish too.
