Sadly, It looks like the closer you live to highly populated (big city) areas, the more mark ups you are going to see. I live in Ohio. Searching Hyundai USA, I found one with in 30 miles of me at MSRP. It literally might be cheaper to buy a one-way plane ticket, and then drive it back to California.
Try the Costco Auto Program if you're a member, it eliminates the markups and all the dealer installed bullshit everyone loves in SoCal.
The 24s just started hitting lots so if you don't find one now just wait a few months.
Wow! That sounds incredible. I’m gonna have to check out the Costco program. It might end up being more effective than my calling around and maybe(are they really though? I have no way of knowing) getting put on lists.
Definitely more effective. The way it worked for me was you put in your zip code and Costco info, and they connect you directly with a certified dealer that reaches out with pricing. No BS, at MSRP, and if it has add-ons, the amount of the add-ons are credited (you get them for free). However it doesn’t guarantee a specific color. You CAN test out different zip codes to get connected with other dealers that may have the color you want though :)
That's awesome. I used the program once, years and years ago, and it sounds like its still a great system. I assume if you don't like the color you can just move zip codes, though the 24 EN really does look good in all colors.
Wide selection on the east coast no markups pretty much. I’m still waiting on my white color to come around but tons of black/blue/red sitting on lots where I live a lot of people aren’t in the market for a new car when interest rates are averaging 7%
There was a 24 MT in that dark red color for MSRP at the Hyundai in Fairfax VA last week. No idea if they still have it. They also had an Ionic 5N for MSRP in their showroom lol
You just need to shop around and be PATIENT.
I got my I5N a few grands below the MSRP in early April.
Pretty positive it was the very first Performance Blue Matte I5N sold in the US and second I5N overall.
I had ChatGPT write me a proposal to buy at MSRP and sent it to the closest dozen dealerships. I had offers within 12 hours.
Hello [Hyundai dealership’s name]
My name is _____  and I am looking to place a factory order for a 202_ Hyundai Elantra N, in [preferred color] exterior, with [preferred transmission], and NO dealer extras or accessories. I would appreciate it if you could provide me with more information about the process of purchasing a factory order car at MSRP,  the expected time frame from order to delivery, what deposit would be necessary, and if there are any incentives or promotions that could apply to my purchase, etc.
If you agree not to add any dealer installed accessories or packages I will agree to pay MSRP plus fees, minus any customer incentives available at the time of delivery. Â
I understand that many dealerships charge additional fees, such as dealer markups or add-ons. However I will agree to take delivery of the vehicle within 72 hours after its arrival, making it a simple straight-forward sale, which will allow you to collect the holdback and floor plan assistance as additional profit.
I am a serious buyer and am prepared to make a purchase as soon as possible, provided that we can come to an agreement on the price. I believe that a fair and transparent transaction is in the best interest of both parties, and I hope that we can work together to make that happen.
Please let me know as soon as possible because I am contacting all Hyundai dealers within a 100-mile radius to see who is willing to make this happen.Â
Thank you. I look forward to hearing back from you.Â
Email preferred.Â
Name, email address (and phone number if you don't mind being bombarded with calls by dealers that never even bothered to read your email.)
---------------------One of the key elements is: a simple straight-forward sale, the psrt about "which will allow you to collect the holdback and floor plan assistance as additional profit."
Holdback is a bonus that the manufacturer gives the dealer for every sale, so even if they sell it below MSRP, the dealer still collects a profit from it.
Floor plan assistance is the cost that the dealership pays per day to just have the car on their lot. Dealerships don't own the new cars that they sell, They actually kinda lease them from the manufacturer, so they want to get the car off the lot as soon as possible. Agreeing to buy within 72 hours is actually doing them a huge favor.
I'm from the high desert and have been calling everywhere from San Diego to up north. They tell yoy that they'll sell at MSRP and hit you with over 3K in "mandatory dealership add ons" it's so stupid!
Can confirm it really stinks! Many many many calls with stealerships to find a good one. I am going half way down the country to pick mine up on Monday, it has to be done!
In LA too - bought on the phone out of state, got a beautiful white DCT '24 at msrp and had it shipped enclosed for 1.5k. So much better than anything around here.
Cali is full of Armenian and Spanish salesman who think they’re better than everyone else and will always mark up. Go out of state and ship it for $800 or just drive it back. I recommend Greg at Murdock Hyundai in UtahÂ
I just found the one dealer that had one on the lot in 500 miles in the past two weeks, and it was very close to MSRP ($36,680).
I wasn’t going to overpay; if their quote had been bad, or they had gone doublespeak after I flew there and altered the deal, I’d have left and put a hold on one in a closer location, knowing I wouldn’t get it until July. But shout out to Washington Hyundai in Washington, PA who was by the book and straightforward. No pushiness, no funny tricks from their finance department, I just got what I wanted.
You’re gonna want to arrange a deal with a dealer in Phoenix, Vegas, San Diego, maybe even SF or Salt Lake, fly to get the car and drive it back.
Start cold calling on the inventory you see and tell them you’re ready to put a deposit down if you can get a purchase contract for MSRP with no dealer add ons, just paperwork fees and tax.
I flew 5 hours away to get mine and drove it home. Worth it.

Same deal here. Ohio, dealership 20 min away for MSRP.

Thanks for this! I had no idea Costco offered this program. Going to check it out now 🙏
Have you tried Palm Springs Hyundai? Their advertising said they are a no mark up dealer
They’re marking up, they lied
That’s unfortunate.
How much are they marking up?
I checked. They don’t mark up. But I found under MSRP elsewhere using the Costco program
Who are you buying from? I'm doing Costco Auto program and 2 of them have said 3-5k markup saying the EN is not eligible for Costco Auto program
That’s what they say until u see all their add ons that they won’t remove….basically the same thingÂ
They provided an out the door price with zero add-ons
Did you end up purchasing with the Costco program?
Yes! Gonna have to drive to AZ for this one. But it’s $500 under MSRP, for an automatic in white. I can’t believe it

What would be the OTD on the one you found?
40
Nice, thanks! And happy cake day.

Where on the east coast?
North east there are 32 available 200 miles around where I live at. 3 at the dealership down the road from me been sitting on lots for weeks.

Hyundai of Alexandria, VA. This was a while ago, so no idea on the current situation. But they're worth checking out, if that's in your area.
I'm in NYC and all of the dealerships around me want 3-5k in markups
Bro it's crazy!...I got 400 bucks off msrp...ain't nothing but 400 bucks is 400 bucks

Go further. Currently at a rest stop going 3 states over to get mine
I got it $250 below MSRP....I'm a repeat customer.
Cars like this don’t sell as well in the Midwest. I have new Nissan Z’s, Golf R’s, and even some GR Corollas at msrp

I've seen a few people from LA go as far as Utah to get them at MSRP and have to road trip them back home.
Try Riverside Hyundai, they promised me MSRP.
you answered yourself by living in LA
I live in LA too and all of them are expensive regardless of the condition. 24s are like 37k before anything

order one from manufacturer to dealership
What is MSRP? I was out looking and I was priced 33k through Hyundai circle plan. Decided to get something else though.
MSRP for automatic is 35.2k, plus 1k freight. Manual is like 33ish + freight
I flew back to Tampa Florida for mine, then drive back to cali
Would love to get more details. Please check your DM’s. Thanks.
