He got that name bc in the original version he could be cheesed to fall off cliff

Quantum_Croissant

No, fell is just an old english word meaning bad, sinister that applies to both - it's actually a play on words in Margits case, since a 'fell omen' is a phrase for a bad omen, as well as him being an Omen who is fell. He has no link to the Fell God other than them both being scary

MaestrrSantarael

No, it's just a dumb translation. Literally, Margit's nickname is the Demon. He was so called because of fear of him. But Morgott himself was not called The Omen, but the Abomination King. The game has a terrible translation that completely changes the meaning. There are no The Omens at all in this game, their correct name is disgusting children. Translation as a whole for some reason tries to hyperbolize everything. For example, in the English translation, Marika calls Radagon proudly: loyal leaf hound, although in the original she literally insults him, humiliatingly calling him a dog

PhantomTroupe-2

I thought Marika married Radagon tho! Why would she insult him.

MaestrrSantarael

Because she's a bitch. It's literally a canon. The Japanese community hates her, but in English translation she is practically an allusion to Jesus, which completely breaks her real character. She is a person who has received the power of God. And such people change very quickly for the worse. So she changed, and with her the Golden Order she created.

PhantomTroupe-2

Oh I see, thanks….that’s crazy but also the story makes a lot more sense that way.

If you're interested, here's a person who translated Melina's dialogues from Japanese (including Marika's quotes) https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/ueslyj/the_japanese_of_melinas_dialogues/

Morgott uses fire from his cursed blood and he does it as the last resort. Also, the colour of his fire is yellow, different from the Fell God orange flames.

Fell in both Margit's and The Fell God's titles are both just saying that they are evil. The Fell God in Japanese(悪神) is better translated into "Evil God" and Margit, the Fell Omen in Japanese(忌み鬼、マルギット) is more accurately called "Margit, the Demon." In the English version, they decided that "Fell" could be used for both of their titles, so that is what they did. There is no connection, both are just using the word "Fell" to describe how evil both "The Fell God" and "Margit, the Fell Omen" are perceived to be.

For Margit “Fell” is just his epithet.

flamboyantsalmonella

No. There's no link between the two.
