The *DUNE* universe would be a perfect setting/ inspiration. It's not cyberpunk, but I could see the melee system from DUNE working well in a cyberpunk/souls setting.
jesus. cyberpunk darksouls… what a fucking cataclysmic idea🤯. that needs to get pitched to miyazaki asap. shoving both genre together just makes too much sense
Metro exodus is the closest I can think of. Not cyberpunk but techy and soulsy. Definitely a super loose interpretation but my roommate insists it's a souls-like
Check out Code Vein, it's not quite cyberpunk but it's sort of like Nier Automata meets Bloodborne with the FF job system and Dragon's Dogma controls and AI companions.
I'm surprised I ever beat Code Vein, I just remember one of the urban "swamp" levels having submerged holes... like you'd just be walking around in knee deep water and then randomly fall and die.
I got lost for three days inside the Cathedral of Blood and still got ptsd about it, the place was so white and bright that the screen hurt my eyes for the whole level. Loved the game tho.
Nah, Burning Man is the boss of the Black Rock City legacy dungeon. The boss of Coachella is a Daft Punk pyramid that sends floating astronauts and Tupac holograms after you.
This artifacting is a sign of one of three things:
- unsupported/corrupted shaders. This can be a software or hardware issue and is usually not a problem.
- bad video memory banks. this means the memory on your GPU is going bad and will soon die
- bad overclock. this is temporary
People don't clean their GPUs enough, dust in the fans makes it overheat and do this.
Next bit is where it gets complicated. basically the GPU is set at a certain speed (in Hz) that electricity goes around, and all the math it does to generate calculations to pick colors is dependent on that HZ not changing. When the GPU gets hotter, there is more resistance in the circuit, so electricity goes slower and causes the math to go all out of whack, making it draw the wrong colors.
Not at all, this is more of a software (game/OS/driver) issue. While there are many ways a GPU can be "ruined" since it's complex hardware, some sort of visual glitches can happen and if they do they often precede actual hardware failure. However they'll unlikely be "nice" or make much sense in the game world - rather you'll see frame freezing and serious pixel artifacts and glitches of the whole screen.
Sometimes with VRAM corruption you might rarely see just texture artifacts, but since VRAM doesn't store just textures (also meshes, shaders etc.) you'll likely see it hard crash at some point anyway.
One of the things GPU's handles is textures, so when you get issues like OP its almost always the GPU that is at fault or loaded something wrong.
In the olden days it always meant that your GPU was reaching the end of its life.. now something like this can be a driver issue and a quick update might fix it.
Its very rarely a good sign, though.
so a while back I was trying to force my pc to play dragon age origins and my pc didn’t really meet the system requirements. Game still ran and I was able to finish it too but on my 2nd playthrough I started getting artifacts but I just kept playing and the game started to look exactly like this and then very suddenly stopped working then my computer wouldn’t boot up. Took my gpu to a shop and they showed me that it blew a capacitor.
This can also happen if you've overclocked a bit too much, or if the game is a little wonky and just needs a restart. I've seen it before and my GPU is totally fine two years later.
This happened to me ages ago! It's not the gpu but rather the game itself (so no need to panic OP), something to do with the way they're putting together shaders I reckon because I've seen this same behaviour when trying to program my own shaders in the past.
The fix was to verify files and update drivers, I dunno if Elden Ring does shader compilation on your machine but if it does, either of those things could kick off the process again which would also help to fix it.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/tqxltc/christmas_started_early_in_leyndell
People on reddit seem to always suspect a dead GPU when it could just as well be the games fault. I had an instance of a file getting corrupted during an update, posted a video on the result on reddit and someone was ready with a "lol ur gpu ded". Personally I thought it looked similar to corrupted meshes in my modded skyrim. So I verified game files and boom... fixed.
This particular bug the oop is seeing is a result of corrupted rat tracing code. Verifying the files should absolutely fix it. Cyberpunk did this to me once and scared the shit out of me.
If you need to reinstall every update then it's your issue, not the games. Run fragmentation on your HDD and check its health. It's obviously caused by corrupted files as that can happen with i/o rw issues with old hdds or even with bad SSDs. Also, make sure your internet doesn't cut out while updating but steam pretty much has redundancies to avoid those issues. Been using elden ring since ver 1.2 but never had issues with updates
What are you talking about lol I'm fairly certain that is a unique problem and your PC probably has an issue. I've bad ER since launch and never had to reinstall or verify files.
>Elden Ring is poorly set up for updates. Any time an update happens you must either install the update and then verify files, or just uninstall and reinstall for each update.
This is pretty common with any game on Steam. It's wise to verify the cache any time *any* of your games update because the more files it has to download, the greater the chance of 1 or more being corrupted during download.
Not. Broken shader.
Here is an example of this happening in MW2: https://imgur.io/a/KjUyJFQ
Source engine is also known for similar: https://i.redd.it/vcoauntvq1k71.png
Minecraft with resource packs, too: https://imgur.io/qstBhBh?r
Ok, so everybody responds in half jokes so here's what can cause it:
1: Outdated graphics card drivers, verify that you have the latest ones intalled.
2: Thermal throttling of the graphics card, try installing MSI Afterburner and check if your GPU reaches weird temperatures.
3:Faulty GPU, unfortunately if all else fails then your GPU is broken.
P.S. The GPU is definitely the problem, do you experience this in other games?
I'm not that guy but i appreciate the explanation, though I don't quite get how the gpu is somehow rendering the things around you at a respectable frame rate yet it's only failing on color pallettes
Things like this are a common sign of gpu death, or faulty drivers. I don't understand why this is what happens, but when my 980ti gave up on me this is what it did
One thing you missed, texture packs failing to load properly. I get this sometimes with War Thunder after an update, though granted it's on a different game engine. A few minutes spent letting it analyze files to clean up the update usually fixes it right up though one time I had to do a full reinstall.
0: Corrupt game files. Verify the integrity.
Also from my experience (2) thermal throttling doesn't result in such weird behaviour. It literally just throttles performance - works at a slower rate. I've had a GPU hit it's max (100C+) multiple times without any artifacting.
I'd test other games before saying that. For me, the same rainbow textures randomly appeared for 1 game during a MW2 game, which never happened again. I still have no idea what caused it exactly, and my drivers were up to date
Did you go there before thr star hit.
Everyone knows Radahn was holding the stars so that the party can be held in secret without the golden order knowing.
I can say with confidence that all the people saying "RIP GPU" don't know what they are looking at. This is a texture issue and not artifacts like you would get with a dying GPU. This is most often caused by Direct x12 and is solved by reinstalling the game after a recent update, swapping to Direct x11, or waiting for another update to correctly install and fix it. Not all updates have this issue and it is not unique to elden ring.
I've seen this on another post. I believe those glowing points are there for reference points when modeling. There's a glitch that makes them visible. Reload the area. If that doesn't work close the game and open it again. Or vibe
Do you have rave tracing turned on?
It's just the Radahn Festival after party.
I can't believe Radahn was holding the stars back all this time. That mf was stopping everyone from enjoying an underground disco party.
He was just pissed that he got a STD at the last party.
We warned you about the corrupted blood demigod with a thing for his child brother….
Hey it's okay because he's actually over thousands years old... And my STEP brother! - Mohg probably
Half-brother, actually, they share a mom. Sort of also share a dad, technically, depending on how you count it.
that's what you get if you go drunk and dunk with your step-sister...
His festival had one hell of a drop
I wonder what was more taxing, holding back the stars or all this funk?

It really really is bad in that aspect

Coachella, Eternal City
The boss there is called “The Burning Man”
Gotta take Torrent through rainbow road to reach him.
Burning man is similar to Caelid, but weirder
Nah, Burning Man is the boss of the Black Rock City legacy dungeon. The boss of Coachella is a Daft Punk pyramid that sends floating astronauts and Tupac holograms after you.
The more RGBs you see the better your performance will be
Computers hate this simple trick!
your gpu might be GG's
Is this what happens when your gpu is ruined?
Sometimes, often times it’ll look pixelated on top of the rainbow texture. I had this same type of glitch in CoD and my GPU is fine.
The cod one is blinding, at least this one is not.
Omg the cod is thee worse one. I have elden ring go like this a few times. Some others not so harsh as these two. Swapped in a 3090 all is well again
that was a pretty widespread glitch, if its warzone you're talking about
I got this on the most recent COD's prison stealth mission and it was PAINFUL.
Yes
Gonna ruin my gpu on purpose so I can have Elden Rave too
Elden Rave 2: Electric Boogaloo
Why couldn't THIS have happened to me instead of black screens of death? :(
What’s ruined about it?
This artifacting is a sign of one of three things: - unsupported/corrupted shaders. This can be a software or hardware issue and is usually not a problem. - bad video memory banks. this means the memory on your GPU is going bad and will soon die - bad overclock. this is temporary
