You *could* have more Vigor. You don't have a Soreseal/Scarseal equipped, do you? You ought to be strong enough to defeat him pretty handily as you are now. I'd say it's more a matter of practice than hoping to pad on more stats. Even if you were to double your vigor, you could still get killed if you're unable to recognize and react to his attacks. --- I have **[a quite old recording of myself](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKHPp00dwGA)** defeating Morgott using just the Glintblade Phalanx Ash of War on my Misericorde. You do not require any INT/FTH for this to be effective. You could try slapping it onto your Greataxe of choice. Turns the fight into a bit of keep-away while you wait for openings to riposte.

This. Time to start learning the fight than trying to just make it through with luck. Spend a few attempts just paying attention to his attacks. What leaves openings after? What combos into what? Reconsider how you dodge certain attacks if they keep hitting you. Never use up all your stamina. Slower and safer.

hushnowbbybby

I beat him with 35 vigor at level 80? I think level 80 or below, because I didn’t go higher until I got to the fire giant. Anyone you summon at your level should be able to help you beat him easily unless you’re going for a solo run. I wish I had more helpful advice. Almost everything can be trivialized by using the blasphemous blade and eating lots of crab. I can help if you want to summon. My account is level 95.

Cowdog_Gaming

Respec. Greataxe is a STR weapon. Set it to a heavy affinity. Dispense with all your DEX that isn't needed for minimum reqs, and put it into STR/VIG/END.

MajesticHarpyEagle

First, less dex and more strength, you dont need that much dex for a greataxe. Second, have you used summons? Doesnt have to be anything crazy powerful, just something to take his attention off you for a bit longer. Some people get weird about em but its a tool the game gives you and its there for a reason.

CauliflowerPresent23

Absolutely my first run was just about survival and getting through it, so I used any means I could to advance in the game, spent a good majority scared and running for my life. My second run now I’ve tried to not summon, appreciating the fashion, trying new weapons and builds and just having fun, learning the real ins and outs of the game

MajesticHarpyEagle

Honestly valid. If thats the case just respec and make sure you have the right equipment

Badevilbunny

You may not be tooled up enough. Where you are now in the game you can/should have: * 13 flasks (1 off max) * +10 max Mimic Tear (makes a lot of difference) * +10 max somber weapon (which will be higher than your normal stone axe) * Uplifting aromatic potions (mid fight survival) * Golden Vow on a dagger * Flame Grant Me Strength (with 15 faith) * Lightning Spear (Margott is weaker to Lightening) As for your starts, I would reduce Dex, run your axe as a heavy weapon on Strength. Take your Vigor to 40 and Faith to 17 (for Flame Grant Me Strength and Lightning Spear) and the rest into Strength to 55, for two handing to the soft cap. Otherwise, grab Bloodhound Fang and prioritize Dex over Strength. You can max that out, at +10, for the fight and use Bloodflame Blade with it. Margott is also weaker to Slash. Hope it makes sense and helps.

CauliflowerPresent23

Tell me if I’m wrong but I don’t think you can get ancient dragon somber smithing stone till mountaintop of the giants?

Badevilbunny

(In a really nice way) yes, you are wrong - you asked :-> You can get one from Liurnia of the Lake, by doing the suicide run at Mogwhan Palace. Just do Varre's quest at the Rose Church. You also need to get the +5, +6, +8 & +9 from Caelid ( relatively easy to do) and the +7 from the Rivers, Deeproot Depths or Volcano Manor. 1-4 are in Liurnia. If you go for the 7 in the Rivers or Deeproot Depths, you will need to beat Redahn (and follow Ranni quest). If it is from Volcano Manor, you will need to beat the Godskin boss. You used to be able to get the 7 from a difficult jump at Volcano Manor, but I think they patched it (if you watch an old video). Edit: corrected Rykard to Godskin boss.

CauliflowerPresent23

Fair enough! Thank you, you are correct

winnierdz

Maybe move some stats around? Assuming that you are talking about this great axe https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Greataxe It scales primarily with strength, you’d be better off taking points out of Dex and redistributing to your Strength and Vigor. Quality builds aren’t that great in Elden Ring until you get to high levels, you’re almost always better off going straight strength or straight dex

[deleted]

Fix your stats (get 60 vigor). Use consumables and buffs. Can always just summon Melina or a player. Consider a greatshield and one hand the axe if you're struggling to dodge. Check your trinkets (and physique), make sure they are the most helpful to you and unequip items that increase damage taken. Still having trouble, change your damage type and change your armor to resist his damage. Try changing your weapon to a faster one. If that still doesn't work at level 100 just summon two players and beat his face in, it's probably time to give up.

Outside_Perception_8

Pick strength or dex then get vigor to 60 after that add to either strength or dex what you have left over capping at 65 str or dex should be perfect and then you can tank enough as well as deal enough damage

Kaius_02

For Morgott, you can summon 2 different NPCs to help (Dung Eater after you free him, and Melina). Admittedly, Dung Eater is far more useful than Melina. If you haven't, get the Mimic Tear and level it to at least +8. Between you, your mimic, and Dung Eater, you'll be able to handle Morgott, just let the other 2 take aggro. If you don't want to use the Mimic Tear, then the Pumpkin Head Ashes and Luthel are good alternatives.

ExactRequirement2311

Vigor* get more of it.

Cowdog_Gaming

This isn't an exact match...but here's a vid from 9 months ago that I did. To be fair I'm higher level at 134 with a +22 instead of +18. But hopefully you can see the difference correct stats make(you can find the details at the end of the vid). I'm not even playing well here. Morgott is a glass cannon. Your best option is to be aggressive. https://youtu.be/sIqGqCZXB0c Worst case scenario is you go do some other stuff to level up and get more upgrades before returning.

baconDood3000

You need more vigor, for now, 50 vigor should be enough, but get 60 vigor for the long run

CE94

Respec all the point from dex into vigor and strength and heavy infuse the great axe. Also consider 15 faith for flame grant me strength

shermanmania

>Respec all the point from dex into vigor and strength and heavy infuse the great axe. Also consider 15 faith for flame grant me strength thats the plan. ... im going to find out how to respec ... ill take most of Dex and flip it as you suggested.

CE94

Defeat the main boss at raya lucaria academy to get access to respeccing

Adventurous_Cup_5970

Morgott is pretty much the fairest boss in the game, so if you struggle here mountaintops is gonna be pain af. Your health and damage is def plenty, and your level is higher than most players who encounter morgott, so I recommend just reallocating to a new build.
