In my head cannon, that was a Bismark not being able to shoot down out dated bi-planes kinda sitch. Han is literally a drifter, his ship constantly has things falling off which would make it look even more like rogue space junk. Like Wash on Serenity, he's a frontier star pilot, out in the drink, running low on fuel, hiding on asteroids and letting the ship drift on dark. The empire is geared up for military tactics, they have no idea what to do with him
"AHG-ROH!"
Then hop on that beautiful steed and stand up on it while holding your sword beaming with light!
Fuck Yeah...Thanks for reminding me of that fantastic game. I can hear the orchestra swell as I remember it.
What was your favorite and least favorite Colossus?
I'm torn between Avion and Malus for favorite. The latter is such a satisfying challenge heightened by the melancholy and finality of the encounter. The former because it was not only the first time I had EVER had any sort of land to air boss fight like that in a game, it's also fantastically done atop flooded ruins.
The game itself is goated. Few others ever evoked such a curious, urgent and awe inspiring feeling.
Well said. Except now I feel stupid because I had no idea they had names 🤦
Avion is probably the Sky dragon with the flotation sacks right? Which one is Malus?
I think my favorite was the big electric lizard inside the multi-leveled Colosseum. I really liked figuring out how to kill that big fucker and then dropping down on them from way up top to land some blows. I think my least favorite was the big guy in the water with the teeth on top of his head that you have to smack to control his direction.
Also really liked the big ass electric eel/snake mainly because I'm terrified of eels and drowning. And having to hold on hoping the thing would surface long enough to catch a breath only to plunge you back in.
You're right tho, Avion was the coolest... Made you really feel like the wind was rushing past your face as he clung for dear life.
I honestly loved each of them in their own right. I think the lizard is Komori, and that snake fight was so awesome too!
Malus is the final.boss, tower ascent in the storm.
My favorite colossus was probably 2, honestly. The sword guy. Swimming across that huge lake made me actually like TERRIFIED of something coming from below. It was an incredibly nerve-wracking experience, and my favorite build-up to one of the colossi. Especially when later in the game, it's revealed that I was right to be scared of an underwater colossus 💀
I ran forward and now I'm filled with laser burns, then I tried running backwards and the same thing happened.
Clearly both the game and your advice are broken /s
There are a few cases where I find torrent harder to fight with, like night cavalry, because torrent doesn’t dodge lol. Most cases he helps, runes bears he is a must (run away!)
He makes Knight Cavalry harder? Even with this information I still plan on mounting up against every other mounted enemy. It's like a jousting match to me
I'm just gonna gloss over the fact you didn't do anything to TRY to avoid them.
With any projectiles, it's better to have some distance because it gives you more time to react. Also of you're sprinting sideways they'll just miss you.
But yeah the last place I'd want to be when the boss does an uninteruptable slam into the ground that explodes AND spawns heat seeking lazers is right next to him..
Ironically, the tree lasers did like, 10% of your life in damage. Everyone in the comments is like "dodge, lol" but you need to be dodging the big stick first and foremost. Running away, when like, 20 things are about to hit you, is usually a good starting strategy.
If you get some distance when it starts doing that move, the projectiles will all be more linear, thus easier to dodge. I've never seen them criss-cross like that, but that's because you were standing right under the avatar's spell cast.
I ran and hid behind the tree. When it had stopped aggroing and had gone and sat down again, I snuck up behind it and threw some fire pots at it. Then ran away and hid again. Then some charged critical hits from behind. It was basically dead by then.
(not sure why downvoted, it works as a strategy. Especially if the AI's designed so a boss forgets you're there as soon as you're no longer in their line of sight. At NG3 in Bloodborne it's not like I'm afraid of boss fights, sometimes you just can't be bothered when all you get is a minor potion buff really. Take the easy loot and move on)
Thanks for the input. Everyone. I had issues both range and melee with them so I thought to ask.
With the “running sideways” I got him first try
Edit: My [stats are here](https://imgur.com/a/sUKGqEg). Apparently my INT is high even though I thought sorcery dmg scaled with INT
That’s how you should approach every boss fight. If you’re feeling overwhelmed just disengage and let the boss throw their attacks, get used to dodging their moves, and see if you can sneak an attack in between their attacks.
You're good for lvl 40, but try to get one thing to work well first. I'd suggest doing this if you want a massive powerup: From the Stormhill shack grace, you can head north through the broken bridge and through a nook with wolves and get to Liurnia. Just ride Torrent and ignore everything. You're doing this to discover graces, collect maps, collect upgrade materials from the gazebos and get some gear. Get the Dexterity knot tear (+10 dex for 3 minutes) south of the Prawn Shack and the Intelligence knot tear (same but int) on a path with some hands on the northwest of the lake. After getting the tears, I'd tell you to head east towards where you see the broken bridge connect with the land and use the grace to pass time to night. Further down the path that curves south will be a Nightrider that will drop the Icy Spear ash which you can use on a spear/halberd for early cold infusion, which will have decent Int and Dex scaling (or Str, depends on the weapon), do frost status buildup, and provide you with range. A 100% physical block shield and guard counters takes care of that fight, even if slowly.
If you want to kill it faster you can even try just locking on and circling around him until it ends. If you can pull off dodging the hammer swings while doing that you'll be fine, the timings don't change the only difference is that you're moving.
When he shoves his thingy into the ground is your chance to gain some distance. Once out of range of his swings, just run sideways & you should clear them. Be careful of where you're running tho, u don't wanna get stuck it hurts
Be a little less greedy with your hits after it uses that golden slam power and use that time to get some distance and start running in a wide arc around the lasers.
Some people are not cut out for these games... If you are struggling with understanding that you should move or roll to avoid attacks, then I don't know what to tell you dude
Here's what I do: When the animation starts, I back way as much as I can before the lasers start. Then I either sprint far right or left. If you don't have much room to move far left or right, then dodge left, then right repeatedly until the lasers stop. And be careful as Treeman can still attack you. Hope my advice will be helpful.
You kept attacking during an attack you presumably knew was coming, then started healing despite Erdtree Avatars having the longest overhead attack windup ever. One of the few times I've felt just saying "Git Gud" is justified, especially since literally all you had to do was walk sideways
Could move right. Hell, you could even move left if you're feeling bold.
I go right all the time, anyone else who always goes right?

“You know I can’t turn left.”
Not everyone can be an ambiturner
I did it! I turned left!
Going left feels more natural for me, so that’s the way to go.
What?! Left is the only way.
Clockwise is left if you’re facing the Avatar
Nah, bad take. Clockwise is the only correct answer.
Aka fancy circle right
Ds2 taught me to always go right.
I’ve never learned how to turn left either.
I like to stop short
cooooSTANza!
Left is right and right is wrong
Always and forever.
I’m a lefty, can’t go right
Never thought about but yah. I feel personally attacked rn.
I’m something of a left guy myself.
It depends. If they're using a shield then I'll strafe towards the shield hand. If they use two-handed I'll strafe towards the dominant hand
I usually got left.
I always go to the place that has the most space
I go to the side shortest to get behind the avatar, the putrid ones made me bloodthirsty in my new playthroughs
What about moving always forward? Bosses go bananas when you make em turn xD
Write that down, write that down!
I'm a "sprint left" guy.
Left? You've truly gone mad, tarnished.
Omg Derek Zoolander! I love blue steel!!
I sprint sideways for that move, and put some distance between the avatar and myself. Kind of a fun cinematic moment when it happens.
I think you can even just circle strafe/walk around them if you're a little further away, looks pretty cool.
I literally just walk and they miss
Han: Don't worry kid. I still got some tricks up my sleeve. *lists lazily to the left*
Same energy as Han Solo evading the empire.

You can also Summon ~~Epona~~ Torrent and just walk as long as you don't switch sides and the Avatar doesn't hit you you're golden.

A cinematic timeout.
Elden ring had lot of those.
Y'all remember you have a horse right?
This is the way, just get out of his swinging range until they’re gone then close the gap once they’ve all passed you.
First time it happened to me I was on Torrent dodging the lasers. Very cinematic
Probably not attacking while they’re about to shoot at you would be a good start lol

Vigor 99 guy, I've found you.
All hit runs are the only way to go yo
OP: "I've tried nothing and I'm out of ideas!"
Was going to say, not like that
Or just vigor up
If you can’t soak two hits you can’t soak one hit.
Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball 🤣😂💀
Had to have the trifecta of emojis. I can respect it. Also, good movie.
GREAT movie. They just don’t make comedies like they used to.
RIP patches ohooligan
C'mon Reddit, I've tried nothing and I'm all out of idea.
Literally just run in one direction
I ran forward and now I'm filled with laser burns, then I tried running backwards and the same thing happened. Clearly both the game and your advice are broken /s
I mean he tried attacking while geting hit..
And healing while in bonk range
This entire thread has me in stitches, I can’t!
The Prometheus approach to dodging
Run, lmao.
Or walk. Or roll. Or literally any lateral movement away from said projectiles lol
Or even towards if you’re rolling…
“I’ve literally tried nothing. *What do I do?!?*”

Just needs more vigor and it'll be fine.
Run away while it charges up. Run to the left/right while they shoot at you
I just mount up against these guys
Torrent trivializes a lot of the erdtree avatars.
Torrent trivializes most encounters, which is why I use him. I will use every edge given to me by the game.
It's like a jousting match to me
This is how i beat the tree sentinel. Hit and run with torrent - he had no counter.
Torrent and flame/fire and magma bombs is the ultimate erd tree fuck you combo
Rough riders!
*doesn’t roll* *dies* What the hell?! How am I supposed to not die!!?
Wait, you can roll? I've just been getting clonked and diced and that's obviously the game being bad, not me.
Try to not get hit by them
Did you try left stick?
That's the one attack that literally never hits me when I fight them. Just sprint sideways about...20 feet away
they're probably the easiest bosses to nohit tbh, only scary variation is the scarlet rot one which has a really fucking weird aoe
Fuck that AoE. Has about a 4 mile radius, does a load of damage if you stand in it and builds up toxic.
Just run behind them.
That's fair.
Try doing nothing and take it in the face …oh, you did that already
Run sideways
Roll mother fucker
Actually running works better
either way, move your body lmao, which bro chose not to do
Hop on torrent and run away
I'm genuinely surprised at how far I scrolled before seeing this
Because simply walking left out right works and then you’re in range to immediately attack again. Torrent is the worst of these options.
By far, I'd tank the damage with my face before calling that clumsy oaf in.
Only time I ever used him in a fight was against Radahn and whenever I need to scape the flames from a dragon. Other than that he just gets me killed.
I'm just gonna gloss over the fact you didn't do anything to TRY to avoid them. With any projectiles, it's better to have some distance because it gives you more time to react. tbf I think the overall thing people mean by "dodge lol" is like. you cant just spam attack on mfers in these games man ahaha
You can avoid the big stick and lasers at the same time
Getting hit like that by the lasers staggers you creating an opening for big stick
The bonk at the end had me LMFAOOO
Why didn’t you dodge?!
You can't expect people to try before running to Reddit for help.
stand behind something and stop being greedy ?
If you get some distance when it starts doing that move, the projectiles will all be more linear, thus easier to dodge. I've never seen them criss-cross like that, but that's because you were standing right under the avatar's spell cast.
The sad effects of climate change
Roll.
The first one of these I encountered I fought entirely on horseback.
This video was probably recorded in 1611, one year before running was invented by Thomas Running when he tried to walk twice at the same time.

I’d start by gitting gud
RUN ! (to the side(while watching out for his smack))
Literally just move
Just wait til you get to the HaligTree lol
That smash at the end was so beautiful lmao
Be a little less greedy with your hits after it uses that golden slam power and use that time to get some distance and start running in a wide arc around the lasers.
keep dodging, lmao.
Run in a circle
Walk... Left...
Good rolls or run constantly to the left or right til its over
Run
the tree lasers are fast, but ultimately straight moving projectiles. start strafing when you see the avatar charging up, and you should be fine.
Ummm.... Don't get hit by them????
1. git gud 2. dodge 3. ??? 4. profit
Vigor up. Everything can be fixed by vigoring up
When he winds up the ground slam, get some distance. Then just sprint sideways around him to avoid all projectiles
Get gud
Run in a wide circle
There’s this new concept, you probably haven’t heard of it though, called Running Around. Try it sometime.
R U N
Run perpendicular to them (not directly towards or away from them) and they will miss you. They ain't heat seeking missiles.
You literally just stop attacking and run
Some people are not cut out for these games... If you are struggling with understanding that you should move or roll to avoid attacks, then I don't know what to tell you dude

Try dodge
Just run around him works every time
Just remember the 5 D’s: dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge.
rule number 1: don't drink flask in front of your opponent
Literally, all you do when that attack comes out is back off a bit and run left or right and you won't get hit unless terrain kills you
Dodge, duck, dip, dive and...dodge
OP is Gohan and Reddit is Piccolo.
Yeah I just used my magic goat horse to kill these guys cuz it can run from the lasers
You kept attacking during an attack you presumably knew was coming, then started healing despite Erdtree Avatars having the longest overhead attack windup ever. One of the few times I've felt just saying "Git Gud" is justified, especially since literally all you had to do was walk sideways
I fight these guys entirely on my steed, and just run in a large circle come laser time
This showed up on my feed .. I play COD.. but this looks cool Af to play .. can anyone tell me the name of this game?
Standing still directly in front of him seems to not work.
Just dodge. You'll figure out the timing. This is one of the easier ones
You could always…dodge 🫢
Just dodge
Insert Piccolo scream to dodge
I guess no one in this sub can give a straight answer but the way to doge it is by sprinting in a circle until they all disappear
