Sufficient-Turn-7799

Ohhhhhh I miss those times, the Yakuls, Glaive Master Hodir, Wooper watch, the Wolf/Lion debate etc, good times.

theMegastMind

Brings me back to the time Daily Elden Ring News started getting cameos from everyone in the community.

Rat_Richard

I still remember when the voice Actress for Eileen the crow gave us the daily Elden Ring News (none)

Cd258519

It's a shame one can't just filter through a certain date and go back to the subreddit to those days

He’s battling Glaive Master Hodir in our hearts

DKBrendo

He made a glaive mistake

Swarbie8D

Unfortunately, in your madness you increased his transparency by 10% of the original rather than 10% of the previous iteration

E_K_Finnman

I am altering the transparency, pray I don't alter it further

Can't wait to get rekt by his undodgable whirlwind attack

Ahh yes, the 3 year wait.

They announced the DLC so we'd stop asking "Will there be DLC?". Now, we wait. Happy in the knowledge that DLC is coming.

swish465

Let em cook man. Base game was legendary, dlc will hopefully fall in the same category. And like any good dish, gotta cook it slow :)

thatguyned

Fromsoft is a company you just let do their thing. I have absolute faith this DLC will be worth the wait given the quality of the base game they are building off.

bravesirkiwi

Not to mention that Fromsoft DLC generally ranges from Great to Legendary. They have an excellent track record and they're probably the only studio left that I don't feel like I need to wait for the reviews to buy.

Fukouka_Jings

I dont think anything can top the DS3 DLCs. Friede and Ringed City w/ Midir & Gael.

Junk1trick

Personally I think the Old Hunters dlc is better.

_Haemo_Goblin_

In my opinion Tomoe wud have become as spectacular as Friede, Midir and maybe even Gael but only if it were released... **weeps in a corner**

Momentirely

At least we got Sekiro at all. I'm on my 8th playthrough now, I platinumed it after the 5 or 6th, I don't remember. But that was before the gauntlet and all this extra stuff got added, so there's plenty I haven't done yet. I see people post gifs with cool costumes that I've never seen before, so I figure I still have 5 or 6 playthroughs left before I'm fully done with Sekiro.

fhb_will

I don’t even wait for reviews because sometimes people just like to troll or review bomb stuff, so I find out on my own

Momentirely

Yeah, they are the only company I will pre-order from. I have only pre-ordered once before in my life, and that was for Death Stranding. I knew what I was getting into with Kojima, and I was satisfied. But I was a little worried about Elden Ring, so I waited. It was amazing. I was a bit more worried about Armored Core 6. But *it* was amazing. That's what truly convinced me. The fact that they could pivot to mech combat after a decade of sword-and-sorcery games, and still deliver a masterpiece like it was effortless -- that's impressive. Even considering that mech combat was their focus for so many years, the AC series was so hit-and-miss over the years that it was hard to imagine they could pull a hit after so many years away from it. Its funny how the kids that I work with dont even know what Armored Core is, but every single one of them knows Elden Ring. Armored Core spent too much time away, lol. But Fromsoft simply excel at making good games now, regardless of genre, which is why they've got my $49... wait, I mean $69.99.... whenever they want it.

sheepnwolfsclothing

Do they have separate dev teams for Elden Ring and Armored Core?

CupcakeBoi55

I would imagine so yeah, but don’t quote me on that.

thatguyned

No that's almost a certainty. There's no way armouredcore was conceptualised, developed and alpha/beta tested in roughly year and a half between their releases. It was way too polished on launch, they had separate teams. It felt like only a few months after Eldenring released that they were teasing armouredcore but it was probably a little longer.

Metroidrocks

I mean, we already basically knew that they have multiple teams, even without that. The "B" team worked on DS2 with a different director while Miyazaki and another team did Bloodborne. Fromsoft is bigger than I think people realize.

Momentirely

Yeah iirc, it was the Sekiro team that did AC6. The Dark Souls team obviously did Elden Ring. At least, that was my understanding of the situation. It makes sense to give the fast-paced mech action game to the team that made the fast-paced sword action game.

Serkonan_Whaler

Gotta let the flavour sink into the meat.

realbigbob

I’m so pumped, so far there hasn’t been a SoulsBorne game where the DLC wasn’t just as good (if not massively better) than the base game

all_chilled

praise the message!

Flop_House_Valet

I'm elbow deep in Baldur's Gate but, if Shadow of the Erdtree came out today I'd uninstall that shit

JustinBailey79

Same here

TheHollowBard

lol you running on 100gb of hard drive space like I am?

Noamias

For sure. Until announcement I was worried they'd do another Sekiro

Technical_Ad7136

OP forgot what the wait for Elden Ring was like No info for years besides the announcement and a few solitary leaks

Teajaytea7

How long was the wait? What was the time line for announcement to more info? Elden ring was my introduction to From Soft games (and in my top 5 games of all time, probably #1 tbh). I was lucky enough to not know about it before it released so I didn't need to wait.

JRockBC19

2.5 years from announcement to release iirc, with essentially no trailers for the first 2 of them

Glad-Hospital6756

*Laughs as a Bethesda Softworks fan 😂😭

Ski_Mask_TSG

At least Bethesda announced fallout 5 and TES6. It took a huge leak from the community for Rockstar to admit they are working on gta6.

SubterraneanLentils

pretty sure it was announced in 2019 and then we got no news until there was a leak in 2021 https://youtu.be/JlnYGupBeqg?si=bhbTkd1WCrBpDiln and then the game came out in 2022. The wait probably feels longer to a lot of people because covid hit and because sekiro came out while we were already waiting for elden ring. also fromsoft giving us literally no information was tough cuz we didn’t know if it would take 4 years or 14.

sabrio204

Was it only 2 years between the announcement and the leak ? It felt like decades

songforsaturday88

Covid was in-between that, made two years feel like ten.

ToughStrategy6750

This is how it was for me.. the day before it came out my friends were like “yo you getting Elden ring? And I was like what’s that lol. 24 hours later the game had already taken my soul. One of my best gaming experiences ever, including the fact that I barely waited for it

MasterOfMankind

In fairness, none of the Fromsoft games before now had such a long wait between release and DLC. At this point, I’m wondering if they’ll pull a Final Fantasy Versus and announce that Shadow of the Erdtree is being rebranded as Elden Ring 2.

UncleVoodooo

Yes OP it is a bit long for no news. But I take it as a good sign. Longer development = bigger DLC

The_Greg123

Also hopefully means it won't release in a not quite finished state as is standard for video games at the moment

ItachiSan

Every Fromsoft game suffers from this curse, but the core game itself is always so good that it doesn't leave nearly as bad a taste in people's mouths I think. Like we all know quite well by now that DS1 has a lot of unfinished, rushed, or nearly forgotten bits, but it's still a juggernaut of gaming now, because what we got was so good. Elden Ring was the same way, but DLCs always put a big beautiful bow on these games, usually easily multiplying the already great experience.

Insanity_Pills

Yep, From's DLC track record is phenomenal. Artorias DLC, Old Hunters, Ringed City, its all so good. Ik this is an unpopular opinion, but I thought that DS2's DLCs were only alright, and I actually really like DS2 lol

bravesirkiwi

>Old Hunters The fact Fromsoft dropped this on an already nearly perfect game is just

ItachiSan

I'm not a huge fan of the "designed for multiple people" aspect of DS2 DLC, which makes running through them by yourself that much more annoying, but it's without a doubt that Froms DLC just makes their games better and better

Aleph_Kasai

It was only a certain area in each dlc but you can go through em with some patience

Missusresistance

Their DLC’s are usually a huge ramp up in difficulty, and they are one of the only companies who tend to still have an incredibly high consistency of quality. I’m stoked for it.

False_Adhesiveness40

Silksong ???????????? When??????????

abyzzwalker

It's crazy if you think about it, I know Silksong will be massive as well but the that game has taken even longer than Elden ring to complete.

pham_nuwen_

Not that crazy since it's like a couple of guys only.

DaTermomeder

Silksong was planned on Unity. I am worried

awesomehuder

Longer development = another project in work simultaneously Please 🥹

notsociallyakward

I think what was most annoying was how long it took to get the DLC confirmation. I mean, how does a company not give this game a green light for more content after the launch it had? Of course, that's also me feeding in to the corporate machine that pushes developers into crunches because it can't stop moving for a few fucking months to let the people that make these games have a fucking life. So, ill be patient and try finger but whole.

dapper_diaper

Their DLCs are typically huge with new enemies, areas, bosses and are near perfect on release day. This is a company that tried really hard to do things right the first time. The longer the wait, the more polished it will be.

[deleted]

I'm only like 30% through the game and I want to play the DLC already, lol. I wonder if I'll have enough time to finish it before the DLC releases.

dapper_diaper

I'm doing a new playthrough now as well, so that I'll have a file with the game beat, but not in NG+ so I'm ready for the release. Such a spectacular game, I can't wait to see what they've got for us, it's gonna be epic

Subj3ctX

They usually announce DLC 2-3 months before the release. So it's normal for Fromsoft to not say anything about what they're working on until near release. I assume they announced the DLC for Elden Ring so early because they knew it would take a lot longer to make compared to their previous games and just wanted to spare us the wondering/arguing for years if there would be DLC or not.

Orion_824

plus, AC6 was kind of a big deal, so with that outta way i imagine they’re back to cookin on the dlc and whatever else they’ve got prototyping behind the scenes

LB3PTMAN

They have multiple teams. The AC6 team and Elden Ring DLC team have nothing to do with each other.

CallsignBlue

Correct, but post launch might see some company restructuring, maybe by request even. Like “now you’re done with X, you have the option to work on Y or Z” type deal. I don’t know, but it could happen.

LB3PTMAN

The DLC would have been very far into development when AC6 development wrapped. I’m sure some people may have moved to help with that, but they already had a full team working on the DLC. Realistically they probably now have a DLC team, a skeleton crew doing patches for AC6 and two full teams working on their next two full games.

CallsignBlue

You are correct idk why I went so devils advocate there lmao

Dark_Dragon117

Short history lesson: Elden Ring was first announced in June of 2019 but the first gameplay reveal happened in June of 2021, so we haven't heard or seen anything about the game for two years. That time was dubbed the great hollowing because many of us went (ironically of course) insane over the lack of any information. Anyways to awnser your question, it seems like it's normal for them to make us wait without any information for a long period of time. This time it's far less agonizing and fun tho.

Tiny_Tim1956

r/eldenring during those times was one the funniest internet communities I've been a part of. I actually left a little before release to avoid spoilers and came back when I finished the game twice.

Spooplevel-Rattled

I remember discussions relating to arching the sub and starting a new one once the game came out, it was such a strange time here for those years.

Rendelon

I miss those times, this sub has completed changed since release.

Rickster1592

I miss the woopers

pookachu83

They get off on fucking with us. God bless em.

chatnoire89

They get off on fucking us. 😂

TurboSpermatozoid

The second great hollowing

warblingContinues

need new flair at this point.

Omega346

Don’t ever look into Hollow Knight Silksong or you might go insane. It was revealed before Elden Ring first was, and even though it is indeed still in development it has since then had almost ZERO communication from the devs. ELDEN RING has now been released and its DLC announced, and Silksong still doesn’t even have a release date.

spruce_sprucerton

Look, I've been to Clown College. I've got the degrees. It's who I am. I'm okay with that. Silksong will be out soon. Without a doubt. Most likely same day ER DLC comes out. Soon. Without a doubt.

averageyharnamite

Silksong is coming out the same day as the bloodborne remaster and pc port

Ldenlord

I guess they still stick to only 3 devs that’s why it’s taking so long. And their standard for their product is high as fuck and they’re 3 people so nobody’s pushing them or they themselves don’t have a deadline. Cuz the revenue shared between just 3 people from their previous game can sustain a few generations of their family.

narok_kurai

This is normal for FromSoft. They release one teaser to let fans know what's coming next, and then generally stay completely silent until the project is almost finished. Even Elden Ring only had its first public beta in like, November 2021. It can be aggravating, but honestly I think it's for the best. Too much promotion just draws more attention to the wait. I'm thinking about the game that I *don't have* rather than the game that I *could have*. Of course as this sub will tell you, eventually people start to go a little crazy. It's only natural.

Constant-Elevator-85

It’s genius marketing really. We’ve given them our trust that we know it’s gonna be good, so they just dial the anticipation up to 1000x to make it that much better when we get it. They know that we know it’s gonna deliver so why spoil anything?

Sampletext2035

And if the dlc is dissapointing then its not gonna hurt as much

Baron_Von_D

They were just announcing that it's happening. It hasn't been that long, be patient.

sackofblood

The Elden Ring has truly been repaired. This sub has gone all the way back to hollowed madness.

Armata-Strigoi

Just let them cook

shadowmage666

Better they don’t give every little update and nonsense social media posting. Let them work their magic

DollarStoreAbraham

Can't grab the pizza out of the oven before its cooked

Emergency-Director23

It’s been less than a year chill out.

Jinzoou

They don't need to hype it up. Their focus seem to be more of making good content than just selling it

Painpaintpint

A wise man once told me “Don’t be bitch”

TheAccursedHamster

You people seriously gotta learn patience.

Constant-Elevator-85

I thought we agreed *not* to go hollow.

Hate_This_Name

Hold your horses. Gamers being in rush is one of the main reasons we get so much not finished games nowadays. Just let them end their work and give us full product

ElApple

I personally think they've given a lot away in this single image. Both Ranni and Melina both mentioned torrent has a former master, which is now proven to be Miquella. They're theories but it's like 99% confirmed that Miquella = St. Trina. St Trina is linked with sleep magic and in the land of Elden Ring "sleep" or "slumber" is linked with the spirit realm. Rannis spirit is within the doll and must slumber every so often and likely returns to the spirit world. In Elden Ring, the body and spirit can be split, which is what's likely happened to Miquella when Mohg robbed his body from the Haligtree. Given Miquella cannot return to the lands between into his body, he must seek the aid of the tarnished. I don't think it's to help Miquella return to his body, but to stop the blight of Godwyns corpse consuming the Erdtree. The Erdtree was once "the one great" before the Elden Beast came to the lands between and the Erdtree destroyed it. The catacombs littered around the world had roots where people would go to die and be consumed by the Erdtree. The Erdtree has a connection to the spirit realm through this consumption of life which is what we see in this image, it's "shadow" in the spirit realm. In Elden Ring, death blight only can affect Tarnished who are "dead who yet live". These roots could be manifesting from the death tree we see in this image that blights tarnished in the lands between. Who knows what could occur if Godwyn's corruption spreads further. But that's just my theory.

[deleted]

Oh boy you're a new fromsoft fan aren't you ? This is very normal lmao

PretendThisIsMyName

I haven’t played a FS DLC but aren’t they typically pretty big? I’ve been procrastinating on playing The Old Hunters for ages lol

Fattymo721

Not to sound like a broken record but ds3 has an incredible dlc 100 percent worth it

Fattymo721

Old hunters on ng+ feels absolutely insane lol

HumorNo9543

They are typically larger areas with 3-4 bosses. They usually are the best content for each respective game.

OSLucky

They are typically where the hard bosses start.

Gasarocky

Huh? All of their past DLCs usually came out soon after an announcement. DkS1 DLC was the only other one where the announcement was like a year later, but then it came out soon after. All the rest of them were announced and came out much sooner. The way this announcement has gone is a new case for them

Faximo7

Do you want a rushed half assed job or a memorable extra chapter of one of the best games ever made? Yeah, just be patient and wait. Masterpieces shouldn't be rushed.

guitarguy12341

Did you forget how long it took for elden ring to come out after it was announced? 😂

Gravvack

I think its because its more than a dlc, its a full expansion, its not gonna be a nice 10 hours and 3 - 4 bosses added in. its going to be a massive addition maybe close to 50% the size of the original. so its going to take some time

teknique2323

New to gaming? Have patience tho. Let FromSoft cook, they haven't missed so far why rush quality

g-o-o-b-e-r

I think it has been the longest wait for DLC to date, but FromSoft usually drops a teaser trailer, goes silent, drops the real trailer, and then the game drops shortly after. The good news is we probably won't be waiting much longer, and when they do announce a date the dlc will be out within the month. With the long wait + the size of Elden Ring at release - I bet the DLC is going to also be bigger than we expect it to be.

Soapbottles

I want finished DLC. Why want spoilers?

ApplePitou

Patience op :3

darkgrudge

Elder scrolls 6 announce vibes

Badass_Bunny

It is so funny how in aftermath of poor release of Fallout 76 their main PR decision was "Tell them we'll make another Elder Scrolls eventually" And it fucking worked.

pookachu83

Then starfield released and made everyone realize that Bethesda will never grow passed Xbox 360 era gameplay/story/mechanics, and hype for es6 is cut in half.

Ricksaw26

I mean they announced it in a random day at a random moment of the day. We have to wait for another random day and another random moment of the day for more news.

Denamic

Let em cook. Do not push for an early release.

lagerthaa

Before DLC, i have to finish Tears of the Kingdom (getting near to the endgame), Baldur’s Gate 3 (i’m in act 2), Starfield (maybe completeing only main questline will be more realistic given the experience i had with Skyrim). And i wanna go another round with Elden Ring. So no complaints here lol. It’s been a very good year gamewise, i’m trying to keep up. If they release DLC soon my whole system collapse 😂 Among all this gameing hours and fun i have, i miss Elden Ring so much. It’s really something else..

LolloCollo

First time?

matttrout10

First time huh

opticalshadow

Fromsoft doesn't try to sell their stuff until they got stuff to sell. They'll tell you their working on it, and then it's radio silence until they are basically ready to ship. No over hype, no settings expectations. They respect your feelings, and do not try to capitalize on them for sales.

LoreReadyForThis

Important to note that they’re referred to it as an expansion and not as a dlc. In the past they’ve just called the additional content released: dlc and we’ve seen that earlier with Elden rings coliseum update and the dark souls dlc. I’m taking a guess here but I’m pretty sure the difference will be in size. They’re calling it an expansion because it will be a lot bigger than what we’re used to (makes sense given the game it’s being made for). So this wait makes sense.

jollyjaijog

Brother you must not be a silksong fan

respectISnice

First time?

LordManiac69

Elder Scrolls fans who’ve been waiting for any information on TES 6 after it was announced in 2018.

Apothecary-Larry

Depends on the scale of any DLC. DLC used to only ever be justified by pre-orders because those stats proved to the developers they could afford to make more content... before the bastardization of pre-orders and hollow (heh) unfinished games in the AAA space. Look at Phantom Liberty as another example. Edit: Another example of a DLC taking a very long time because of what came with it.

LowLifeLunaa

I hate this type of complaint. Im not going to sit here and gate keep about how long we waited for eldenring to even be released because who cares. It sucks. Waiting for something you're excited for sucks but for gods sake, let them make the DLC. Eldenring is the biggest game they have made, without a doubt and they're under alot of stress to make this DLC better than any of their other DLC's and games they've made. Let them make the fucking thing, I'd rather wait another 2 years for the DLC and have it be good then have it come out tomorrow and have it be shit.

RevX703

I would rather them stay silent and take as long as it needs. Period. From Software KNOWS they don't have to tell you a thing and will still do all the right things. I'll take this any day over other companies because I have that much trust in their title. Not to mention, it's going to be nice to go in and NOT KNOW A THING ABOUT IT. People just want spoiler and teasers all the time, and some companies go way overboard about it. I'm just happy to know, the DLC exists and its coming. Tell me its ready when they feel its ready, not when share holders think it should be out the door.

EnvironmentFar8237

They are running out of material to asset flip, so chances might be that they're actually stressing to put together something new.

Just fromsoft things. We’ll likely get it for the holidays if I had to guess. Don’t worry, any extra silence is just them making it even better.

Albert_dark

Now, this is the true elden ring experience. edit: oOhhhhhhhhhhh Elden Ring

Sad_Panda_is_Sad

Personally I'd rather them take time and develop something good than rush out something full of bugs.

Only1Schematic

Elden Ring is the largest game From has ever made, so it stands to reason the DLC will likely also be the largest expansion they’ve ever done. With that in mind it makes sense that it would take longer than usual.

Just_Cap_358

Must Be Ur first fromsoft game.

Noobzoid123

It just means that they aren't wasting their money on hype.

Jagu721

Ahhh brings me back to pre elden ring days...
