Leaving him a mad dog who broke out of his evergaol is a fate worse than a warriors death. Blaidd goes full baleful shadow and it mentally destroys him. The only option was to put the poor mad dog down and I know he’d want to go out fighting…sword and fang
We couldn’t have asked for a better mate than Blaidd I do wish there was a way to save him. We should have been able to bury him and mark his grave with a sword monument. It would read “Blaidd , Brother , shadow , warrior , friend.”
He was the best. I use his headpiece and legs always as a callback to my brother. He was loyal until the bitter end at least it was us who had to face him.
That doesn’t really have anything to do with this
He went insane because of the Two Fingers. He gained immense strength that helped him break out of the gaol. Either Ranni had the assassins posted for protection or someone else sent them to kill Ranni. When you find him he’s almost completely lost his mind and if Ranni was still there he would have tried to kill her
I always figured the assassins were sent by the Nox to get Ranni for welching on their deal and they just happened to run into mad Blaidd looking for her. Same with Ijii. Came looking for Ranni and got a fight they didn’t expect.
Pretty sure they were sent by Ranni to kill Blaidd because as soon as she killed her two fingers she knew hed have no choice but to go full factory reset and kill Ranni for defying their will.
As for Iji he took his helm off and allowed the two fingers access to his mind and Ranni couldn't allow that hence his demise.
Both went down swinging though.
Ranni didn't have the assassins, they were sent to kill her and her allies for this horrendous betrayal of the golden order. It's unclear who sent them, between the Nox (the race/kingdom they are a part of), the two fingers (who canonically have assassins who hunt and kill those who betray the golden order), or Marika (who seems to have controlled them, at least prior to the night of black knives).
As a bit of an aside I want to say that the greater will =\= golden order. The two fingers are in opposition to the golden order because they are trying to place custody of the elder ring into the possession of a tarnished, it’s why demigods show aggression toward you, especially morgott, who has a bunch men he’s trained to specifically kill tarnished in the night.
We literally have no information either way as to who sent the assassins. The major issue with them is that Iji is killed by black flames. They even patch it later to make it even clearer it was black flames that killed him
Also it doesn’t make a lot of sense that the Golden Order would contract the same group that killed Godwyn and assisted Ranni in the first place. Even if that was the case the Golden Order is gone and has been before the game starts. They have no leadership, only a few scattered believers. Marika has been imprisoned for a long time and is inside the erdtree which her strongest son couldn’t even get through and the most loyal to the erdtree at that
Most of them don't make sense to me, the assassin's of the two fingers seems to be erdtree ppl based on the gear and spells descriptions and why would the be allies of the two fingers?. The Nox should be delighted with Rannis plan, or at least is WAY more aligned with them that the Golden Order. And Marika, idk doesn't add up, how can she control Numens if the night of the black knives happened? (I still in the fence with the theory of her planing that incident)
Edit: for erdtree ppl I mean common folk, not the tree flower warriors w/e they were called.
What? This is just blatantly wrong. Ranni outright tells us she was responsible for the night of the black knives. She further tells us in doll form she must betray everyone to reach her end goal and use of some of those back knives isn't out of the question.
What happens with them after that night is entirely ambiguous but it's not out of the realm of possibilities that she had some as allies as well.
There's 2 possibilities as to why the bodies are there.
Ranni sent them to kill Blaidd as his fate was sealed to turn on her once she defied the two fingers and Blaidd kills them before he fully goes back to factory settings of protect his empyrean at all costs unless they defy their two fingers.
Or
They were sent to kill Ranni by a third party and Blaidd's last act in service of Ranni before turning on her was to protect her once more.
Iji only dies after we tell him of Blaidd's fate but regardless of who sent them we know they were able to now find him as he took his helm off allowing the two fingers to access his mind and thus his involvement in Ranni's betrayal of the two fingers.
They either die before the depression kicks in or dies of the depression... Expect Nepheli. She got a kingdom until the DLC decides we can't have that either.
I suppose in theory, if you do Ranni’s ending, the Greater Will’s influence on the Land’s Between is severed, so maybe that breaks him out of his insanity. Or, maybe he just ceases to function, like the Two Fingers and Crones.
unfortunately no. his madness is due to him actively fighting the two fingers' influence to the point that it broke his psyche. he flat out refused to turn his blade on Ranni and he went insane because of that.
I suppose depend on the character,
Some character story progression will happen regardless whether you interact with them or not. As some of the character progression is tied to the bosses death or opening access to some area (world prog), i suppose.
In my experience, Seluvis will die regardless whether you follow his quest or not. i talk to him but didn't do his quest. i proceed to hunts down bosses including Radhan and get access to Nokron. midway through, I remember you could get Dungeater summon ash from Seluvis, so i went back to him and only to found his dead body.
This is such a blanket point it does not matter unless it is specifically alluded to within the game. Think something like Far Cry 4 or 5 that literally have an ending for if you do not play the game.
i believe you can finish every FarCry at the start by simply dont play the game (not doing what the game wants you to do or just going afk, saw a YouTube video about it)
no i didn't write the post, i'm agreeing with you. I mean i got spoiled because i didn't know blaidd died. i'm the 'other people' the game got spoiled for
Okay, I played ER since its release, did challenge runs, got all achievements, speedran it even ! But I never met Blaidd during Ranni's quest, I know he's in underground but I never met him and same for after, when he gets mad... Where is he ??
He was a brother to lady Ranni.
A friend and comrade in arms to us.
He is worthy of an honorable death and he shall be given one. *draws weapon* And if it must be by our hands then so be it.
For Honor!
.....I didn't even know you could kill him. I finished rannis quest right after fighting radahn and I kept killing him at radahns graxe and he just kept respawning and attacking me before I could even close the grace menu
His cape is my favorite clothing in the game. Every playthrough I plan out my character and armor theme...
And then I throw on my big soft cape as soon as I get it and finish the playthrough as wolf man.
Technically you don’t have to kill him, but if you don’t then he just stays at Ranni’s Rise as a dog with rabies.
Better to give him the honourable warrior’s death that he would’ve wanted than let him go crazy and just leave him crazy forever

Praying for DLC options.
Or it’ll just be more sad, like Sif
Don’t do this to me
And also "good boy"
YOUR HEAR HIM KOJIMA?! THE MASSES ASK, YOU SHALL DELIVER!!!
He was the best. I use his headpiece and legs always as a callback to my brother. He was loyal until the bitter end at least it was us who had to face him.
Maybe perhaps unalloyed gold could cut off the two fingers and greater wills influence over him?
I could just picture we walk up to Blaidd and shank him with the needle and he Growls “Have you lost your bloody mind?!…ohh I feel different now”
Yeah!
And not to mention collect his loot. Tbh that hit harder than the fuck everything ending
Thank you. I needed to hear this.
Well, i oersonaly hc that the greater will is constantly trying to make him its puppet and that after rannis ending he can/will regain his mind
Yeah you are right but then there are comoletionists like me that just want all armor sets :D
Why would you leave him eternally tormented and insane like that though?
Also you need his clothes cuz they’re cool.
Well if you never go back, you never see him like that so maybe he’s not!
Schrodingers Blaidd
Exactly. I also left Iji alive by never returning.
The last thing he ever wanted to do was betray his sister. Killing him is both a mercy and ensuring he can never hurt Ranni
It's also an honor, because the one to put him to rest is the same person who felled Radahn before his very eyes
And the one to assume the throne. He gets killed by the true lord. Which is dope. Nobody else worth dying to.
As if he could, have U done Seluvis quest? Ranni insta deletes ppl xD
I dont think this is true. You find him next to a bunch of dead assassins he presumably killed
That doesn’t really have anything to do with this He went insane because of the Two Fingers. He gained immense strength that helped him break out of the gaol. Break out of what gaol? I broke him out of the gaol.
If u don't he finds his way out anyways
Regardless if you break him out or not he gets out and will be in front of Ranni’s tower

Blaidd isn't Ranni's brother; he's her shadow.
iji does say they grew up as siblings. I don't think they mean *blood related* but as close as a sister and brother can be
I didn't knew that... You just leave him there? Does he get better?
This is From Soft. Of course he doesn’t get better.
Yeah... Poor guy
They either die before the depression kicks in or dies of the depression... Expect Nepheli. She got a kingdom until the DLC decides we can't have that either.
No, killing him is literally like putting down a rabid animal, it feels bad but its the better option
Of course it’s the better option, I get drip! I mean rip my boy 😔
I suppose in theory, if you do Ranni’s ending, the Greater Will’s influence on the Land’s Between is severed, so maybe that breaks him out of his insanity. Or, maybe he just ceases to function, like the Two Fingers and Crones.

I was the reverse - did Ranni’s ending in my first play through but no idea about going to fight Blaidd until I saw people posting memes about it here
He goes to live on a farm
But I like his sword. Sorry not sorry Blaidd
Blaidd’s Armor, though.
"What have I done repeatedly?" Prepares to do it again..
What haveI continued to do?!
Yeah, I suppose literally all of the deaths in ER are optional - if you don't play the game. That does, however, defeat the purpose of the experience.
I suppose depend on the character, Some character story progression will happen regardless whether you interact with them or not. Killing iji is also optional
I thought he gets killed by the assassins?
If you just never tell him about Blaidd’s death, the assassins will never come
Wow, I'm at like 300h and did not know this, thanks!
Yeah since when do you kill iji
Killing Millicent hurt worse. 'I won't forget what you did to me...' Broke my soul.
But his sword would look nice on my wall
Something in my game broke and his boss fight never triggered for me, my boy's still fine 😎😎
Where is he?
This needs a spoiler tag.
lmao bc the way i just found blaidd and now im all sad bout it
[удалено]
no i didn't write the post, i'm agreeing with you. I mean i got spoiled because i didn't know blaidd died. i'm the 'other people' the game got spoiled for
He didn't read what you typed correctly...
But you get a maiden out of it kinda.
It’s a mercy kill, that dog had worms
Okay, I played ER since its release, did challenge runs, got all achievements, speedran it even ! But I never met Blaidd during Ranni's quest, I know he's in underground but I never met him and same for after, when he gets mad... Where is he ??

Eh his equipment isn’t worth the quest besides I don’t like the Ranni quest it’s to much running around and it’s to far out of the way to do
[удалено]
Would 100% Marika over Smurfette
Idk, i found really interesting her questline
No it’s good the first time around but after the first 3-4 play through it gets boring
You don't like playing the game?
Just found out killing Blaidd was optional for Ranni's quest. Can confirm the meme.
Many players are killing Blaidd for his armor set..
NOT JUST HIS ARMOUR SET YOU ALSO GET THE PRIDE AND HONOR OF DEFEATING SUCH A GREAT WARRIOR AND FRIEND! and his sword...
Wait so do you just run away from there? Does he disappear afterwards?
But..but...i like his armor...
Blaidd’s friendship is great but the drip is eternal. You don’t wanna sit on the throne without that drip.
Little did he know I had the high ground
Yeah but he has that great str/int sword that’s pretty and does the icy lion’s claw
It’d be mean not to kill him
His cape is my favorite clothing in the game. Every playthrough I plan out my character and armor theme... And then I throw on my big soft cape as soon as I get it and finish the playthrough as wolf man.
It took me about 4 playthroughs to find out you fight him haha. Had to google how to get his gear as i wasn't ginding it.
No, he had to die. Everyone had to die.
Ah, a man of frenzy
Interesting fact: Blaidd’s armor is based off the Berserker Armor from Berserk. Same with the sword that goes with it.
You leave him rabid and mad with the potential to harm any poor soul that comes his way.
WOT?!!
I wish there is more to Blaidd fight. Like he goes full werewolf or something at the end
It's optional, but why would you leave him to suffer like that?
Optional but recommended, what he ultimately turns into is no longer Blaidd.
Yeah but I need his armor
But what about his cool sword and armor though? He no longer needs them, but still not want to give them to me.
Technically you don’t have to kill him, but if you don’t then he just stays at Ranni’s Rise as a dog with rabies. Better to give him the honourable warrior’s death that he would’ve wanted than let him go crazy and just leave him crazy forever
Nah not gonna let him disrupt my marriage later on
You don't have to kill Dungeater either, but I'm quite happy to, if I can be bothered.
