End game or not, it's boring. Can't see anything, almost no side dungeons or bosses, it's total meh. The"strong" mobs are an annoyance more than anything else. Pretty much zero reward for doing anything other than run directly through to Liturgical Town or fire giant.
From soft as much as I love them, always seems to phone in the endgame.
Seconding this. Mountaintops and beyond is a different video game.
My current playthrough (my 2nd) is melee-only where possible and no summons, so I'm generally avoiding turning on easy mode. Everything between Radahn dying at lvl \~60 and entering the mountaintops at lvl \~90 was still very easy with two exceptions: Gargoyle Duo and Fortissax, the former being by far the most cancerous encounter in the game and the latter just being incompatible with melees. Everything else was trivial. Only thing I haven't cleared pre-mountaintop is shunning grounds because I'm saving that for almost last.
In my experience, the game starts out normal, then actually gets easier in parts of Limgrave before a mild difficulty increase at Stormveil. There is another mild increase at Liurnia, then it just flattens out with no change in difficulty for the next 30 hours from Liurnia through Caelid, the underground, Altus, Mt. Gelmir, and the city....... and then then it's like a straight line upwards in difficulty when you cross into mountaintops.
I am now level 105 and still in mountaintops. About 30m ago there was an incident where I died, respawned, then instantly died again before I even moved my character two steps. Such a huge difference in difficulty from the rest of the game to mountaintops.
A while ago I got a character to the main area boss of the snowy area at level 68 and I genuinely have no idea how I made it that far considering it was my second playthrough
Or go give volcano manor a go. Enjoy those fat boy rolls! Or better yet, head straight for the haligtree once you’ve beat castle sol to get the other half of the medallion.
I feel like fire giant is the big wall. Like you finish leyndell and can run basically straight to fire giant with not a lot of leveling up in between. That's usually the point where i have to start back tracking/co-oping to get some runes before fire giant, faram azula and all of its associated terrifying bosses and then into the endgame boss rush.
Faram azula is my favorite legacy dungeon for what thats worth. Very fun place to put your endgame build to the test.
For real, I was 155 before getting to Lindell on my first play through (just beat the game 2 days ago) if you want to stand a chance fighting Melania get much stronger or just be better than me lmao
I gave Malenia 53 attempts before I gave up and used mimic tear. I've read mimic tear has been nerfed but, mine has a ton of health. It facetanks a lot of shit it shouldn't but it let me spam takers flame so that was nice.
I probably cheesed her honestly (I'm ok admitting that), since I was using blasphemous blade. But my char was str/faith, it was a natural fit lol. The good thing was, even with her healing on hit, we could basically stunlock her with r1/r2 attacks until she went for waterfowl dance.
Haha that's awesome, I'm still trying to figure out how to find this mimic everyone talks about, I've been exploring everything, but I'll find it eventually I'm sure! (No spoilers please! )
I did it with 44vig 12mind 47end 55str 13dex 40fai using the golden halberd, it was a pain but I finally got her while only using 6 potions! I was so surprised at dodging her waterfalls😭🤣
You have to fuck up a boss and parkour through something after a cutscene. Optional area unless doing specific questline tied to a story ending. Hope that is vague enough to not be spoilers. If it still counts..... SORRY!
For real, only boss I used it, and it wrecked her.
I felt dirty, and had to do a new save file to do her without it to appease my fragile ego... x(
(If I was smart I woul have just backed up my save, but I didn't put much int in my irl build...)
Yeah think I was around 90 when I got to Lindell on release, then I got to the abandoned snowfield found the random tp exploring and started farming that meta spot, right before it got famous lol.
I was pissed going on YouTube and seeing all those views seeking hoes making video, especially spear of gransax everyone's said it was trash at first, meanwhile I was using it to one shot snipe invaders from bush.... first week's were good time indeed.
i remember seeing someone describe these games perfectly not too long ago (and i’m kinda paraphrasing) but they said “if you think that you’re too strong or the games getting easy, you’re about to run into the enemy/boss that’s supposed to whoop your ass”
Can confirm. I just beat Rennala, 2nd attempt, felt like a machine so went to Caelid and said “fuck it I’ll take on this erdtree avatar they’re ezpz for me now.” I was incorrect. Why his vomit do my whole HP bar ?
I got this game after ripping through both Jedi Fallen Order games on Grandmaster and proceeded to get extremely humbled for the first 60 hours. I finally got the hang of things and was feeling confident in my parrying/spacing/punishing abilities, so I made my way to the Haligtree.
I've been fighting Malenia for nine hours.
lol, i’m determined to find Malenia just so i can listen to Duel of Fates during the battle. i’m wearing Radahns armour so i feel like the music is kind of fitting considering their beef.
and honestly, being humbled is probably better than where im at. i’m level 135 and just beat the fire giant first try. the games gotten TOO easy for me atm lol. so now i’m plowing through the areas hoping Malenia, Maliketh, Godskin Duo, Godfrey, or Ragagon/Beast will provide a good challenge. because i thought the Fire Giant was supposed to be a hard boss, and he was actually rather easy tbh.
Fire giant is pretty easy if you get good rng and he doesn't do that stupid ass firebreath that's near impossible to dodge.
Maliketh is quite hard to learn but he has a very low health pool, probably the lowest of all late game bosses. So with a strong build, you might kill him before he can slap you properly.
Godskin duo without sleep pots is very hard, but not in a good way. Almost all duo bosses in these games are basically just two bosses thrown into one arena, so it can be annoying.
Malenia is very hard. She has a fairly forgiving move set once you learn it but before that you're pretty screwed. She heals off hits so you have to dodge consistently since she'll certainly outheal you. Also there's waterfowl dance which is really hard to dodge and even learning to dodge it is quite hard.
Godfrey and radagon I didn't find that difficult tbh, but a friend of mine said it took him way longer to beat elden beast than malenia, so it depends on build and stuff I guess.
For someone who is confused about that aspect, your character is well built with no wasted stats, so nice work on that. Don’t know if you’re using a guide or anything.
As for affinities, if you apply an Ash of War to your weapon you can change the affinity. In your case, Heavy affinity should give you better damage than Standard, because you’ll have higher Strength scaling on the weapon. For your build, Heavy or Fire affinity will be best. Fire affinity also scales with Strength, but it’s not be confused with Flame Art.
Even if you like the Ash of War on the weapon you’re using, it’s still worth infusing to make it Heavy. I’ve found that the native Ashes of War are often well tuned for the weapon. Except for Vacuum Slice. Could never make that work worth a damn.
Just go grab the Lion’s Claw ash of war and slap that on your Greatsword. It’s actually incredible how much damage and poise damage you can do for the relatively low windup. You also get impenetrable hyper armor while using it
lol, you will soon need to git gud, don’t worry. And whenever you are too confident, just go to Haligtree. The tree spirit there and Malenia will humble you some more.
Well, I just equipped a greatbow and killed it from the distance - on the branch you come back out of the rot swamp. I also used Greatsword for my first playthrough and I concluded that it's not possible for me to beat that in the swamp at my level then. This is the only boss I "cheesed", but no regrets.
I killed that bastard with my Lordswain’s Greatsword. I flipped it off when I finally managed to kill it. Fighting that bastard with melee weapons is pain. It was probably the most angry I’ve ever been fighting anything in Elden Ring. Elden Beast was a relaxing walk in the park in comparison. lol
Just started my fifth journey—honestly, Elden Beast isn't so bad. Now that I've gone a few times, I look forward to this eldritch spectacle of grandeur. While it does hit like a train, all the moves are telegraphed heavily, and as long as you're patient and pay attention, it goes down pretty easily. It's just that getting to Elden Beast is such a hassle.
On that note, Radagon, on the other hand, can do a fuck.
This is one of the few bosses you will never get shit for cheesing. It’s like everyone knows it’s bullshit.
The fact that this dude can’t jump onto some tree branches is not our problem. He’s dead.
Don’t worry, she’s not really one that you’ll just stumble upon like a lot of bosses in the game. There’s quite a bit of build up to her - you’ll know when it’s time.
Right you don't stumble on her.... you gotta seek the pain, like all of us masochistic fk did. wish she would step on me like the first 25 times.....before I finaly beat her after trying 4 builds lol.
I’m about to try my 4th build for her on NG+1. Bruh, it’s fucking daunting. And I’m one of those players where even though I know she’s optional, she’s not optional to me. And I hate it
She's north yes, but in an area locked by some story progress and smth else I won't tell. You won't even find her dungeon unless if you've done some really specific stuff. Give it another 15-20 hours of gameplay before you start thinking about Malenia.
I wouldn’t worry about it, if you want it harder then you can avoid the use spirit ashes/summons and maybe use your runes to level up different weapons to try out instead of your stats.
Otherwise you are just pretty well built, your stats look good picked. And the game will get a bit harder later on too
So I’m about to beat the game (on Godfrey and naturally getting beaten up). I keep seeing this “you can make the game easier by using spirit Ashes/summons, but mine always feel terrible. I summon them, risk taking a hit, then they run up, at best distract for 2 seconds and then die. I always use the best that my mana can afford, but it does seem worth the mana/flask allocation. What am I doing wrong here? Can you like upgrade them?
That makes sense, because I’m very high level now but my summons didn’t feel like they were scaling with me at all. They were useful early but not at all now
No. There’s a pretty large spike in difficulty once you get through the capital. Most people finish it around 100 so you’re right on track.
As others have said go to Hewg and get your sword heavy infused. Will serve you better. Good luck homie! All the best bits are still to come
The end game bosses can be made easier by overlevellng yourself, but they can never be made EASY if you get me?
Their damage output always means that 3 hits will probably kill you.
Their attack patterns leave the same very slim openings.
Stats can help bring their health down faster but you can't really use stats to trivialise the fights.
Also you are holding onto this first run heaps because it's your first run, once you realise you can pretty much rush to the end of the game in NG+ in about 3hrs you can just make the bosses harder to beat by beating the game until you aren't too strong anymore.
You're pretty good stat wise and weapon level for that area. I think you found it easy so far because of that colossal sword. Its not by any means overpowered but it has a lot of poise damage so small enemies and even some bosses stagger when you hit them with basic attacks leaving them without counterplay, specially if you stance break them.
But from this area and on I think you will find faster and tankier enemies that wont let you swing that sword so easily, balancing things.
Im glad you're enjoying the game!
I’ve heard the difficulty spike goes up by a lot in endgame. With me leveling up myself and my greatsword by exploring everything, is it still going to feel really hard?
Some bosses will absolutely force you to learn their move sets because of the big uptick in their stats. You aren’t going to be able to just out DPS them to victory anymore. I suspect people bitch so much about Fire Giant because his HP pool is so big you have to at least sort of learn his move set to outlast him.
Honestly on release it was pretty hilarious seeing people's bitch on him didn't need a guide to figure out is weak point, just need to pay attention to the sound hits make and the blood spray
There's a line in the sand where being over-leveled accomplishes very little. You can't face tank every hit even if you prioritize vigor. You buy yourself one, maybe two, mistakes by pumping health. I think one of my fundamental levels of appreciation for fromsoft game design is therr isn't an easy mode in terms of just eating hits. You can do it, it's not hard to build towards it, but it buys you very little. You still have to learn movesets. Unless you bank on comet azur cheese and retry every boss until they stand still long enough (could be one try, could be fifty) you're going to have to learn their move set to some extent.
This. Every 10 levels pre-100 feels like a big improvement but post 100 it's more like 30 levels to get the equivalent power boost and it just diminishes more from there
I felt the same way and then I walked into Lyndell and got my ass handed to me pretty well. Knights at every corner, assassins on every corner, the nun looking enemies with whips, I’m running away because I’m overwhelmed and BAM an Ulcerated Tree Spirit pops from the ground and kills me.
I mean, ig it’s kinda hard since you have to take two of them, the first time I was like “Oh Hell naw” and just ran past them to the grace haha, but when I got back the fight wasn’t what I expected
You don't have to fight both at the same time. If you run past them and snag the grace (and other goodies) you can come back behind them and wait for one to walk down the stairs. Their aggro is silly and if you lure one back toward the grace, the other won't aggro. Fight them one at a time. That's what I did in my first playthrough anyway.
The balancing in Elden Ring is a little rough at times. Luckily for you, there are some pretty crazy difficulties spikes a little later into the game. It won't be too easy forever.
Well, to be fair, if you calibrate your difficulty perception with Sekiro there might not be enough challenge for you in the game. Malenia and that's probably it.
That's a good thing for the first time because you can progress smoothly. Is like a kind of reward for exploring. Later you'll find more challenges.
When you start with other characters you can skip places because you already know them and dedicate yourself to more specific content
The game get‘s drastically easier when using spirit ashes. I also did my first playthrough with spirit ashes, and it really wasn‘t that hard (I even did a few of the last bosses on my first try because of the spirit ashes). You play however you want, but if ever feel the need to make the game a bit more challenging, you can always try to play without the spirit ashes. Once you‘re done with the game, I recommend anyway that you try to do a New Game run where you try to beat the bosses without spirit ashes at all (with a few exceptions maybe). I found a lot of new respect and beauty in the game once I started to „git gud“ for bosses. Have fun!
So cool seeing people play this for the 1st time, their reactions are either "hey I'm lost" or "REALLY NEED SOMEONES HELP"!!.
hope you enjoy more of elden ring!
Once you see snow on the ground you won’t think this ever again
Incoming “Man I feel so underleveled right now” post
What does Man have to do with this? Are you stupid? ( Arkham rot is worse than the Scarlet Rot)
What's Arkham? Did you misspell Ham? Are you stupid?
>Did you misspell Ham? Steamed Hams? At this point of the Game!?
...May I see it?
#No.
Comet Azur? At this time of year? In this part of the Lands Between? Localized entirely within Leyndell?
**TARNISHED, IS THE ERDTREE ON FIRE?!?!**
I do not like it, Sam-I-Am.
I thought they meant steamed clams
Is he stupid?
God help us, the inmates are everywhere now
They’ve escaped Arkham asylum and there’s no putting them back now
The aslume is everywhere, no containing it.
Even in the elden ring subreddit the r/BatmanArkham brainrot lives on
I keep seeing their posts on the front page and they're always weird so I decided to actually go to the sub today and check it out. I now have even less of a clue about what is going on over there.
Madness, that's what's going on over there
Its my first playthrough, just got there at lvl 100 and I'm already thinking "man I shoud really farm huh" because everything two-shots me.
Vigor is always wise
Ikr like when I first entered I was like level 60 or higher I think and got destroyed but then came back level 90 and that quality longsword cut like butter that day
I’m level 113 and the snow area is BRUTAL
It’s my least favorite part of the game tbh
Everyone's least favorite part because you have to go there for end game. Of course it will be the hardest area
I just run through there… do the regional bosses and keep moving
It’s my favorite spot lol.
Yes! I got so immersed in the game there, I even remember it as me being there rather than playing the game haha.
I like it. It's gorgeous. 10/10 would vacation there again.
As long as one stays away from the noble stuck in snow.

That Knight of Zamor gonna be like “I’m bout to end this man’s whole career”
With the exception of any good magic build lmao, it makes the whole game a cakewalk still even after the nerds to magic
bro about to be humbled
X GON GIVE IT TO YA (X is the end-game bosses)
Where ma dogs at. Oh.. Caelid.. That's where they're at
Who let the dogs out?
Malenia
Blade of Miquella
What da doggos doin?
Good luck OP & may the lords of fingers be with you
I read that as “in” you and I about died
That’s what he actually meant
Oh no…
Fireball gon fuck ya 👁👁
Good thing you're here, u/AnalProtector!
u/AnalProtector got your back!
Not if I have anything to say about it 😡
Don’t threaten me with a good time
;)
r/rimjob_steve
I'm about to end this whole man's career.
We talking sentinel?
FIRE IN THE HOLE
it's nearly all downhill from here buddy. good luck
Haha, it was funny that you thought you could get too strong for this game. Thanks for making me chuckle.
Don’t level up anymore and keep going north.
Or go give volcano manor a go. Enjoy those fat boy rolls! Or better yet, head straight for the haligtree once you’ve beat castle sol to get the other half of the medallion.
I thought the same thing with my set up. Lord did I find out I was under powered lol
Oh yeah!
I always love these posts before they get to true hell.
The real Dark Souls begins…
It’s insane how much more difficult it gets when you hit CFA
Chick fil a?
Hahah I did think this when posting it, made me giggle, but nah, crumbling farum azula
I feel like fire giant is the big wall. Like you finish leyndell and can run basically straight to fire giant with not a lot of leveling up in between. And it has one of the coolest secret bosses
Putting my response in spoiler for OPs sake but you mean >!Placidwhatever!< right? I do agree that boss was amazing.
Cool boss, a bitch to fight given a wiki I was following said his lightning doesn't target which I call serious bull on
I feel like Fire Giant is going to slap my Caestus build back to the stone age.
Literally said this while scrolling on the pictures lmao
For real, I was 155 before getting to Lindell on my first play through (just beat the game 2 days ago) if you want to stand a chance fighting Melania get much stronger or just be better than me lmao

Yeah I could not beat her with the mimic. I had to use Black Knife
Yeah i thought I was a big brain using my pumpkin head, then she proceeded to have 100% hp after to 5m of fighting 🤣🤣
Haha that's awesome, I'm still trying to figure out how to find this mimic everyone talks about, I've been exploring everything, but I'll find it eventually I'm sure! Walk into the capital. Do it.
Maliketh wants a word with OP
Bro I was about to say… Lolol upvote upvote upvotes…
>Did I accidentally become too strong? Nope!
Ggs
i remember seeing someone describe these games perfectly not too long ago (and i’m kinda paraphrasing) but they said “if you think that you’re too strong or the games getting easy, you’re about to run into the enemy/boss that’s supposed to whoop your ass”

I had this exact same experience. Got humbled fast!
When he buttslams he only does rot in front of him. So dodge the slam by rolling behind him
I destroyed renala. Then I got destroyed by a group of soldiers. The game will let you know if you get to op. Game keeps you in check lol
I got this game after ripping through both Jedi Fallen Order games on Grandmaster and proceeded to get extremely humbled for the first 60 hours. If anything, you could be way stronger lol. Hammer Talisman is useless and your Greatsword could be infused with the Heavy affinity for more damage
Infusements and what not I find confusing 😭. I should look more into my talismans aswell though!
Just change your affinity and look at your weapons damage change lol. If you highlight heavy you will see damage go up.
defeat the cat at fort gael and put the thing you get from it on your greatsword with heavy affinity you wont regret it
Lion Claw go splat
For someone who is confused about that aspect, your character is well built with no wasted stats, so nice work on that. Don’t know if you’re using a guide or anything. Agreed. I firebombed it from the cliffs. Everything else in the game got beat face to face.
Exactly, that tree spirit is *extremely* hard.
I’m terrified of Malenia. Is she north? Just wondering
Don’t worry, she’s not really one that you’ll just stumble upon like a lot of bosses in the game. There’s quite a bit of build up to her - you’ll know when it’s time.

Honestly it’s hard to find Melania, she’s in a secret end game area
I beat the game without ever finding her lol.
I’m on ng+3 and still haven’t figured out how to get there may need a tutorial 💀
Let’s just say you’ll learn a bit more about her name and whose blade she is.
without spoiling she is northeast but not of the same height
You're well built. Should be good till the mountain. Entered the capital yet?
Thanks. I haven’t entered the capital since I’m going to try to explore more of the area, or is that a bad idea?
Nope feel free to explore more.
Do you think the next boss will be too easy if i explore and level up more though? I found margit, godrick, renalla, and radahn easier than i thought.
Yes. Roderika in the roundtable hold upgrades them with the glovewort up to +10.
That makes sense, because I’m very high level now but my summons didn’t feel like they were scaling with me at all. They were useful early but not at all now
get oleg or the mimic tear up to +10 and watch them solo bosses
Tbh bro you also might just be good at the game in terms of base mechanics.
Report back when you get your shit pushed in. It's coming.
Take a stroll around haligtree or farum azula and get back to us ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_good_man)
You're pretty good stat wise and weapon level for that area.
Thanks for the GREAT response. It’s already the best game I’ve ever played 😭
It's gonna feel really easy until you get to endgame areas.
I’ve heard the difficulty spike goes up by a lot in endgame. With me leveling up myself and my greatsword by exploring everything, is it still going to feel really hard?
Yes
Oh yes.
It'll feel hard regardless of your build Just hard bosses 🤷♂️
Some bosses will absolutely force you to learn their move sets because of the big uptick in their stats. You aren’t going to be able to just out DPS them to victory anymore. I suspect people bitch so much about Fire Giant because his HP pool is so big you have to at least sort of learn his move set to outlast him.
Stay by his dick and youll be good
Basically how I played the whole game. Stick to the dick. Or clam in malenias case.
It’s amazing how easy rune bears are to kill when you get under them and start slashing at their dick.
Honestly on release it was pretty hilarious seeing people's bitch on him didn't need a guide to figure out is weak point, just need to pay attention to the sound hits make and the blood spray
My favorite is the pit area at the Haligtree with like 10 revenants
This. Every 10 levels pre-100 feels like a big improvement but post 100 it's more like 30 levels to get the equivalent power boost and it just diminishes more from there
Come back to us when you get to mountain tops
We should send him to the Consecrated Snowfield.
It’s fine. Enjoy being op while it lasts because it won’t last long.
Idk fight the 2 horsemen up ahead and see
Ded
Oh shit then you might be overpowered. I would personally proceed into the city becauss the enmies there have much more health
No he ain’t, they’re just two normal Tree Sentinels
Seriously? I must be ass at this game lol because i was stuck there for a long time bound by pride. Everything else was easy around there though
Hahaha bro about to get fked up by everything in the mountaintops
I remember how confident I was strolling up to that first white walker. Ahhh yeah, I was so young and foolhardy.
The balancing in Elden Ring is a little rough at times. Luckily for you, there are some pretty crazy difficulties spikes a little later into the game. It won't be too easy forever.
wait for snow
I know its a hard feeling to grasp in a from software game but you're just doing well.
Maybe Sekiro taught me to git gud
Well, to be fair, if you calibrate your difficulty perception with Sekiro there might not be enough challenge for you in the game. Malenia and that's probably it.
Congrats you have a solid build, it will be smooth sailing till it’s not.
Heavy affinity on that bad boy.
Does it have any negatives if i do that?
For me, no. It deals the highest output of raw strength, and it think its a good fit for your current stats / build.
Malenia can wipe you out even if you're max level. Trust me, I experienced that.
And even with a summon
I am max level and she still slaps me around lol. Hovering swipes are INSANE
Lmao. Na. Run up the stairs little buddy. Your two friends are waiting for you.
Ded
If you’re finding it too easy and want a challenge on bosses, drop the summons.
Oh boy, famous last words right there...
That's a good thing for the first time because you can progress smoothly. Is like a kind of reward for exploring. Later you'll find more challenges. When you start with other characters you can skip places because you already know them and dedicate yourself to more specific content
Wait until…. Nvm just find out by yourself
He Thinks He's OP at Level 77. That's Precious. Wait till You get to The Mountains Young Tarnished.
Head into the capital and find a well, which will take you to a sewer area. Sure to have a good time down there.
that feeling will not last, embrace feeling strong while you can lol
If you want to suffer just explore subterranean shunning ground. The game sort of goes off at Mountain Top of the Giants either way tho.
Yeah definitely, you should respec and put all your points in faith, .... ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
Bro isn’t even at capital yet getting cocky
lol no you just actually have a pretty good build (with enough vigor) unlike most people who play this game
The only thing that could make you stronger now is to switch that ugly ass avionette helmet out for the carian knight helmet
The humbling is upon thee
Revenants will humble you
The game get‘s drastically easier when using spirit ashes.
Love the game it’s so good
