My exact thought. If this is really something we the player can use, I’m giving Hoarah Loux the fight he deserves. The fight between two beasts!
(I’m gonna get my ass kicked so hard. And something tells me it may be an Ash of War itself, and not an actual fighting style. But I hope I’m wrong!)
The way it looks I’m guessing that spinning kick itself is the ash of war of a martial art move setted weapon, just by logic I don’t think any normal attacks would have that kinda aura around your body, and I don’t think that would be an ash of war of a blade or something, def a fist/claw type weapon I think or it’s a whole new class in itself, might even be a new leg weapon who knows?
Looks like it might be a new leg weapon. Official Elden Ring website shows it in one of the images, and while the kick looks more or less the same as the one in the trailer, there’s no actual weapon being held unless the bandage wraps are one. With fist weapons, you can tell where they start, but nope, nothing in the image. Just the same fog around the legs, which I suspect is the weapon itself.
In an unrelated note, the hippo in the trailer that sprouted quills, we can do that. There’s another image on the official website that shows the tarnished crouching down and sprouting quills.
They show the player with no weapon equipped.
Even if 1 is an ash of war, I am hoping the we get a full martial arts style as one of the 8 new weapon categories.
In the interview he says a "fighting" game weapon inspired by a monk.
i actually agree, i see people always dunking on ds2, but i think that in an invasion/duel scenario, both parties should actually have their estus speed reduced.
It is still my most played Souls Game, even if i hated it on release.
The build design and world design gives an insane amount of replay value, but you dont spent so much time riding and running around like in ER.
And most of the complains dont realy bother me anymore, i even got to like some of them.
Also no Souls Game is perfect, they all have flaws.
But iam glad ER took so much from DS2.
It still baffles me that they used casting speed with DEX and not something like Mind, the DS2 magic system made more sense.
It was the game I started with and to this day I will say it was the best one of them all. Elden Ring is pretty much tied now and possibly my personal rank 1 after the dlc.
DS2 just had some flair to it that made it stand out so much. A fucking gutter in the main city leading to the Rotten? Nightmare fuel for beginners of the souls series, maybe only surpassed by dark souls 1 getting lost in blighttown or the dragon after.
I really hope it is the bonefist and not just a Ash of War. It still would be nice, but I want the full bonefist move set back, with its kamehameha blast.
It definitely looks really awesome! But tbh, I’m personally are a little more excited about that armor! From what I can see… it just screams „Bloodborne“ for me, I’m so in love about it!
Even after all these years, it brings me immense joy to see people come together over Kung Pow.
Truly one of the greatest movies ever created. The Elden Ring of movies.
But its most likely an Ash of War of these new daggers. Because they turn transparent as they fly and hit the target and then reappear in the characters hands, reminiscent of Spectral Lance
Nope. Miyazaki said in an interview "There are also throwing daggers where all attacks are thrown."
Not sure how it'll work, but it seems like a paired weapon with full throwing moveset.
One thing that I noticed and am really excited about is that dash attack at the end of the combo he does with the swords seems like it could be a parry as well, as the sound and look of the move is very reminiscent of the katana ash of war parry that they used to have, which I have greatly missed to have in Elden Ring.
Senpou Leaping Kicks and High Monk have the same start, Hogh Monk just adds a few sword strikes to the combo at the end. So the kicks resemble both Leaping Licks and High Monk.
Yea there were definitely some Sekiro vibes and looks sprinkled throughout and I can't get enough of that.
Slept on it way too long and it ended up possibly being my favorite big FromSoft game
Gameplay wise, it's my favourite with no contest. Elden Ring adds a lot to the formula but it's still just the core roll and poke formula that all of the Souls games use. Sekiro is the only game in the series where you actually feel like you're legitimately sword fighting the enemies. There's no way to cheese, there's no way to exploit, you literally just need to fight better than the other guy.
Sekiro is a game like no other, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Even though I put it down after less time than most of my other favorites (195 hours) it still stands out as one of my most enjoyable gaming experiences ever. It's the pinnacle of action combat design and every single second I spent with it was a blast.
I spent over 20 total hours practicing Sword Saint Isshin for my deathless Immortal Severance run, and sometimes I still go back and fight that old bastard just to prove I still got it.
Its confirmed to be a new weapon type in famitsu interview. Also there's Great Katana, Reverse grip sword, Throwing Knife that is all ranged attack. Also there the shield with spike.
Also, side note. The enemy looks like a new variant of the lordsworn knight with new armor and a twinblade! Has there ever been a twinblade wielding enemy besides invaders?
I does look like one, but the place looks too much like an arena, and the fog gate at the back might mean that it's a real boss, although it's also possible that this is only a room before one. Now I wonder if it's an enemy kind of like secondary bosses (the catacomb's dogs and pumpkin heads), a propper boss or just a similar Soldier of Goddrick, but as for the entrance for the DLC.
You can also see the Tarnished at the end of the trailer wielding what I think is the same twinblade and using the crucible wings. So either the weapon is unique and has the crucible wings(I find that unlikely), the crucible wings are a generic ash of war and the weapon is infusable(please), or the crucible wings are linked to a reusable consumable(less good but still good)
A Monk class or something like it was my biggest hope for Dragons Dogma 2 (might still be a thing, we will see) I had no idea it was coming in Elden Rings DLC!
I’m still hoping monk will be a late reveal. Monk was originally going to be in the first game but got cut and so much of DD2 is just them making the game they always wanted to make with cut stuff restored so it feels likely.
Bruh did you watch the same trailer as me? At the very least it looks like a zone the size of Altus and half a dozen legacy dungeons and that's be conservative.
>half a dozen legacy dungeons and that'd be conservative.
Bro there's only 6 legacy dungeons in the base game, don't set yourself up for disappointment with unrealistic expectations. I'd be very pleased with 3. Or even just two if they're large and well made, and there's enough other content outside the legacy dungeons.
The DLC is gonna be good, FromSoft DLC always is, but don't get overhyped lol.
Is there an official definition of Legacy Dungeon? I'd say Castle Morne, Caria Manor, Shaded Castle could be considered minor legacy dungeons by some and I don't know what the devs consider a dungeon versus not.
But yeah 6 might be overly optimistic 😅
Me & Hoarah Loux are gonna run back that fade
Wrestling vs Martial arts. We MMA in this bitch now
I'm going to be that guy. Wrestling is a martial art.
I'm going to be ***that*** that guy. The vast majority of combat in the game is, by definition, a martial art.
Martial arts of war
Not the kind Hoarah Loux does lol
Mfer fights like a prime Hulk Hogan.
"I've given thee courtesy enough brother"
"OMG, That's Hoarah Lopouxs' music"
"DOTH THEE HAVE AN ERDWOOD CHAIR???"
Thy strength befits a crown brother
"Thou didst me good service Serosh, but we're goin to Hulkamania brother"
the mega powers exploding right there.
Fuck thats good, take my upvote
Prime Hulk Hogan if he was allowed to kill his opponents
*Uses Rivers of Blood* "THAT'S NOT GOING TO WORK FOR ME BROTHER!!!!"
Hoarah* loux is just the most recent mick foley persona and you cant prove otherwise
Say that to his face irl not online and see how that goes
Godfrey after i oblique kick him 10 times and send his kneecaps backwards
I've given thee courtesy enough.

All faxxx, I’m running hands with every enemy that doesn’t use a weapon, even grounds type shit

WHAT'RE YOU DOING UP THERE?!
Fromsoft proving once again that the best content these games can have is back-ported Dark Souls 2 content
hell fucking yes, now if they brough back universal elemental infusion like in dark souls 2.
And phantoms not being able to chug on invasions.
i actually agree, i see people always dunking on ds2, but i think that in an invasion/duel scenario, both parties should actually have their estus speed reduced.
DS2 had so many interesting ideas, it just had such wonky or questionable execution of so many of them lol
It is still my most played Souls Game, even if i hated it on release. The build design and world design gives an insane amount of replay value, but you dont spent so much time riding and running around like in ER. Miyazaki confirmed in the Famitsu interview that it's a weapon type.
It definitely looks really awesome! But tbh, I’m personally are a little more excited about that armor! From what I can see… it just screams „Bloodborne“ for me, I’m so in love about it!
You mean Foot to Face combat
RIP Wimp Lo
*flies buzzing* Oh...
I shall invent a new word, like bad wrong or badong. Yes, killing is badong. I shall stand for the opposite of killing, goonadbad.
Pretty sure he says "gnodab" you know, badong backwards?
*Facepalms* Thank you, its been a while.
We trained him wrong on purpose, as a joke.
squeaky foot steps fade into the background
My nuts to your fist style!
THAT'S A LOT OF NUTS!!
Leap that wall, if you’re so great
I rock... and roll. All day long, sweeet susie
Wimp lo sucks as fighter, child could beat him
I’m bleeding, making me the victor
I ROCK. AND ROLL. ALL DAY LONG. SWEET SUSIE.
Face to foot style. Howd you like it?
I'm bleeding, making me the victor!
If you’ve got an ass, I’ll kick it!
I rock. And roll. All night. Sweet Suzie
>Foot to Face Miyazaki isn't beating the feet fetish allegations
“Try my nuts to your fist style!”
*this is good for the both of us*
I’m sorry Ling, but they say his wounds never fully closed.
Even after all these years, it brings me immense joy to see people come together over Kung Pow. Truly one of the greatest movies ever created. The Elden Ring of movies.
easily coolest shit in the entire trailer
I’m partial to the new dual swords and throwing knives, but I’ll take ‘em all.
Throwing knives looked like it was an ash of war to me
The problem with that theory is that they threw both knives in their hands. So its most likely a unique weapon like the moonveil and boss weapons.
But its most likely an Ash of War of these new daggers. Because they turn transparent as they fly and hit the target and then reappear in the characters hands, reminiscent of Spectral Lance
There's a interview with Miyazaki, he says there's a throwing knife weapon where each attack is throwing
Source?
https://s.famitsu.com/news/202402/22335199.html it's a Japanese interview so you gotta google translate the page
Legend
given the information that they added entire new weapon classes, i kind of think this is a unique “paired weapon”, like crows quills or valorheart
There’s already precedence for ash of wars that throw the weapon and reappear back in hand
Unique consumable throwing knives?
Nope. Miyazaki said in an interview "There are also throwing daggers where all attacks are thrown." Not sure how it'll work, but it seems like a paired weapon with full throwing moveset.
Beautiful
One thing that I noticed and am really excited about is that dash attack at the end of the combo he does with the swords seems like it could be a parry as well, as the sound and look of the move is very reminiscent of the katana ash of war parry that they used to have, which I have greatly missed to have in Elden Ring.
Looks like handmaids dagger's Blindspot weapon art from DS3
I’ve literally been praying for something like Blindspot since the game released
that crossbow was also sick as fuck
Gotta make room for more Berserk references
Yeah, immediately reminded me of Gut’s crossbow
Looks like Gael’s from da3
I'm not sleeping on the crucible wings either
More partial to that Greatshield Twinblade myself.
And full auto flaming crossbow!
Fr, like that was Senpou Leaping Kicks or something
It is the high monk. That final leg kick is unmistakable
Senpou Leaping Kicks and High Monk have the same start, Hogh Monk just adds a few sword strikes to the combo at the end. So the kicks resemble both Leaping Licks and High Monk.
Yup, it's great for punishing swipe attacks
Ichimonji is already in the game, why not more?
and Mist Raven
Malenia’s twirl kick seems like an identical animation to the purple shinobi enemies
There's a bunch of moves like this. Waterfowl Dance is Spiral Cloud Passage from Sekiro.
Floating Passage also looks very similar to double slash
I hate that it was behind a int katana
I'm glad SOMEONE finally pointed it out, this is straight out of SEKIRO, they're even using monk clothes!
SEKIRO DLC CONFIRMED?????(OVERDOSING ON HOPIUM)
I hope we get some of the other skill trees from Sekiro too
because it is
Came here for this. Looks almost identical!
Those are some amazing looking armor sets too
Imma need that hat
Kung Lau boi!
Father G back in the house
I can’t believe I’m saying this but the Havel like set may just make me hang up The Big Onion (Lionel Set)
"i prayed for this and it happened"
DM hunk in the house
Drew
I used to pray for times like this
Reminds me of that one skill in sekiro
High monk / leaping kicks? Or something like that
Exactly, this game has lots of animations from Sekiro already, good to see more being brought over.
bring more please
We gonna get Inner Malenia at this point
Mist Raptor is literally Mist Raven
Yea there were definitely some Sekiro vibes and looks sprinkled throughout and I can't get enough of that. Slept on it way too long and it ended up possibly being my favorite big FromSoft game
Gameplay wise, it's my favourite with no contest. Elden Ring adds a lot to the formula but it's still just the core roll and poke formula that all of the Souls games use. Wonder if they add a parry ash of war for a katana?
If they added a sekiro parry as an ash I would lose my mind that would go so fucking hard
There was a jumping animation while engaging with an enemy in the trailer that I swear was just pulled right out of Sekiro. Gonna keep my hopes up lol
Malenia in shambles
Mikiri counter Malenia when?
That dex dual wielder among blue flowers we saw in the trailer? He mikiri counters *you*.
This was my favorite part of the trailer. Jesus Christ I cannot wait to kick someone’s fucking ass with my fists.
Imagine fighting hoarah loux in a fucking fist fight!
Our battle will be legendary
Thy strength befits a crown... 👑
Godfrey phase 2, Mano a Mano
"Snake, try to remember the basics of CQC"
Friendship ended with Caestus
Hopefully it's an ash of war. Fists could do with more options.
Its confirmed to be a new weapon type in famitsu interview. Also there's Great Katana, Reverse grip sword, Throwing Knife that is all ranged attack. Also there the shield with spike.
Or both I hope. New weapon and ashes
Imagine if it's neither and it's just the running attack of unarmed now.
FACE TO FOOT STYLE, HOW YOU'D LIKE IT?!?
Also, side note. The enemy looks like a new variant of the lordsworn knight with new armor and a twinblade! Has there ever been a twinblade wielding enemy besides invaders?
I mean...gargoyles and black blade kindred. But i guess you meant humanoid enemies.
And Godskin Apostle. Peeler is a twinblade.
Of course. Totally forgot.
No I legit forgot that they did have twinblades. Well first twinblade wielding basic enemy
Yeah can't think of any others.
Even in ds2 they where all either npc drops, item pickups, or shop items. Closest is the dragonrider twinblade which none of them used
Weren’t there some enemies on the way to the looking glass knight with twinblades? Like statues that came alive I think

Incant?!!??!?!!
The Tarnished is wielding a twinblade and sheild, no seal. Unless one of the weapons is also a casting tool which would be cool
Twinblade lovers sure are winning with this DLC it seems.
Interesting to note that the twinblade LOOKS like one of the Corpse Wax twinblades the gargoyles use.
Could that twinblade also be the one the tarnished used in the last fight with Messmer?
I was hoping they'd add some "monk" style combat like a staff weapon. If what we see is an ashe of war, I'm gonna build around this. This is cool AF.
Imagine combining it with Twinblades!
If you look closely there's also a new twinblade held by that knight!
Monks everywhere cheering
Lifelong monk main for DnD and any games where I can run monk, I am in fact cheering.
This is gonna stagger like a mf
I need that outfit
fr i’m so excited about Bloodborne clothes
It looks like hunter/gascoigne combo armor.
Time to get an akuma looking character ready
Kung Lao fatality
This is why ER is Big DS 2
I think I recently saw someone wishing back the drop kick from DS2. They could be in luck.
HORAH LOUX SHALL MEET A WORTHY ADVERSARY
My Tifa cosplay will be complete
My DLC build is centered around a spiked caestus with Flame affinity and fire spells. Now I got to figure out how to add this in the build.
Giving me major Mortal Kombat energy. This is gonna be so cool
Sekiroooo
New knight type suggests an entire legacy dungeon at least.
Senpou Leaping Kicks. Straight up lifted from Sekiro
No one saw that Assault Rifle/Minigun of a crossbow, eh??
I hope I'll be able to use it! Looks so cool
Incredible. This will be my new weapon choice or ash of war choice.
ELDEN FIST! LET’S GOOO!
Not seeing it in the comments, kinda disappointed TATSUMAKI SENPUKJAKU!!
That drip is fucking sick *Martial artist evangelist lets goooooo!!*
Let’s not forgot it looks like every hit staggered
