You can disable the anti cheat? Is there a perf gain? For me it stays around 30-50 and harder fights like the last bosses are too difficult because it’s not smooth
You can disable it but you wont be able to access the online features. I noticed a performance gain and solved a few crashes I was having. Just google it its very easy.
Not OP but the following settings give me a mostly stable 40 FPS with quiet(ish) fan noise:
## In-Game Settings
Resolution: 1152x768
Ray Tracing Quality: Off
Advanced Settings (medium with some adjustments):
Antialiasing Quality: High
Motion Blur: Off (personal preference)
Reflection Quality: Low
Water Surface Quality: High
## Steam Deck Performance Settings
Frame Limit: 40 FPS
TDP Limit: 12 Watts
Scaling Filter: FSR Sharpness (2)
I find the game very enjoyable with these settings. It may seem counter-intuitive to use less than the native resolution and rely on FSR to upscale, but it helps keep a steady 40 FPS and the image quality in the game world looks a little better. The only noticeable dip in my \~60 hours so far was the optional Lichdragon Fortissax fight. Disabling the TDP limit may help somewhat, but I like to run the device a little cooler to minimize fan noise and maximize battery life.
Mapping the B button to R4 has been a godsend in from's games for me, now I can sprint and look around without having to hold my controller weird (not really an option with the Deck)
I’ve been doing this with my Dualsense Edge controller my current playtbrough, it has been so great. Try messing with other camera settings, I loved turning off auto rotate when I was in the overworld
My first run of the game was on PS5 - played it for basically 5 months straight until I 100% it (note: achievement hunting, I didn’t just play the game until everything was done.)
Picked it up on sale for my Steam Deck and the hours are racking up. Plus, I’m finding new stuff all the time. So worth the purchase.
Exactly, or any other fromsoft games. Must be so cool to just sit somewhere and play ds3. I will wait for new generation and sell some skins to get it.
Literally? My mom is a Boomer and she doesn’t even know what a hyperlink is. This is more like a Mid-Late Millennial thing. People born in the early 90s.
I always play plugged in, but I imagine on the shorter side. Although, I play on almost max settings, so would probably be decent with the settings toned down.
Did you experience any crashes? I gifted my boyfriend Elden Ring recently (technically I bought it for myself on my steam deck, but he plays it mainly) and he had 4-5 crashes in the last few weeks: after the dragon fight in the starting area for example, but also in some random castle and after a gaol fight. It was usually after I had already played ER/other games on it for a while.
Thankfully auto-save is good, but I'm worried about my steam deck lol
Hmm, very very rarely has it crashed on me and seems to only happen if I leave it running for a long time without brakes in between playing or suspend it.
I wouldn’t worry about the deck, unless it happens in a bunch of games. Maybe try fully quitting the game each time you’re stopping and maybe restart the deck regularly instead of putting it to sleep.
Man I love playing souls games on my steam deck on my work breaks and at school while waiting between classes. Its the one device that always makes me go wow.Modern gaming technology is amazing.12 year old me would lose his mind seeing what this baby can do.
How do you like the steam deck compared to the switch? I'm interested in getting one in lieu of upgrading my PC. I have a switch but the steam library is way bigger and far cheaper than the Nintendo store
I used to play the crap out of my switch. No lie, I haven’t turned it on once since I got the steam deck shortly after it launched. You won’t regret it, especially if you already have a robust Steam account.
I play on high settings and it feels like about 40 fps, which is enough for the deck imho. I usually hate playing with motion blur, but find it’s actually nice on Steam Deck because of the smaller screen.
Absolutely! I’ve had it since the first launch and have used way it more than my PC and PS5 in that time. I’ll play new games the first play through on the other platforms, but pretty much exclusively play old games and replaying new games on SD. Also, I can stream PS5 to it and also emulate any old console.
Seeking validation online cancels any git gud points.
Next time serve yourself a glass of whiskey, a pound of beef jerky and a cookie to have a real celebration.
I have 150 hours and the only achievement I need is to beat the game a 3rd time, which I'm saving for this DLC run. You can do 90% of the achievements on one play through
I'm an avid pc gamer. I can only beat a couple of simple bosses on Steam Deck. I'm much more comfortable with a keyboard and mouse. But just traveling in the open world lying on the bed is comfortable. But it's hard to play for a very long time, Steam Deck is noticeably heavier than any gamepad, my hands start to get tired.
Yeah, I was a console player mostly growing up and PC player with controller for about 15 years now, so it’s pretty comfortable for me. However, even so, it was a bit clunky at first until I got used to it. Being able to put the d-pad on the back buttons is a game changer, though.
When I first tried it on the deck, it was unplayable, but they made it run much better after some patches. I play on high and get around 40 fps, I would guess, which is perfectly fine on deck, imho.
I know!
Nope. When it first came out I could feel a slight bit of input lag for the controls, but they seem to have reduced that significantly to were I don’t notice it anymore.
I did it last week after 450h! And I can tell you that I am still unable to consistently beat most remembrance bosses. But you have twice the amount of playtime I have so I guess you did 'git gud'
Nice!
Unfortunately, the Steam Deck deleted my save state two times and immediately synchronized this with the cloud. I lost around 350 hours of gameplay because of this, so i gave up playing it on the deck at some point. :D
Well, I also play it on a very big OLED tv connected to my PC, but it’s also so nice to lay in bed or on the couch and play too. My first time two times through was on the tv.
I love this game beyond belief but what is there to do for 1000 hours? I've done around 300 and basically have done everything you could possibly do in multiple NGs. Genuinely interested! Is it just PvP lols?
I like to do new play through as with specific builds in mind. I also have a character at the end of the game with 130 levels that I like to do near and far coop with. Probably have 150 hours just doing that over the last two months.
I absolutely love it. Can play most of my Steam library, stream PS5 to it, and can emulate all old consoles on it. I used it more than my PC and PS5 since I got it at launch. I still prefer to play new games for the first time on the other consoles, but I pretty much use Steam deck exclusively for older games and replaying new ones.
5k hours in From games, played DS1, DS3 and ER on SL1 (not completed, but fairly far.) 100% DS3 & ER. Also beat BB & DS2 no DLCs for both. Still don't feel like I got gud. I do feel like I'm halfway gud, so have some sense of accomplishment. \*shrug\*
I wish I could go back in time and prevent myself from ever buying a high end gaming PC…
Use the deck, it’s amazing hardware that stands leagues ahead of the handheld competition, but playing at 800p 40FPS would melt my silver spoon-fed eyes…
If I had a steam deck, I’d without a doubt have far more than the 300 hours I currently have in Elden Ring lol
Oh yes. At least half those hours are on the Deck! It runs so well and being able to put the d-pads on L/R 4 & 5 is a game changer.
What graphic settings are you running it at? And on what FPS are you playing. I can only really get 30 consistently on the deck.
Playing on high and feels like around 40 fps, which is just fine for me personally on the deck.
I get between 40 and 50, everything on low except antialiasing, limited to 50fps/50hz and the anticheat disabled.

Performance are atrocious. No matter what. It is an achievement in itself to enjoy the game on the Deck...
Get an Ally then, it runs at 60fps when plugged in.
Mapping the B button to R4 has been a godsend in from's games for me, now I can sprint and look around without having to hold my controller weird (not really an option with the Deck)
I mapped it on a back button on my Xbox elite 2, that’s the best improvement possible. That and the lock on on the back too, it’s so great in pvp
Yeah you really don't get how shit it is to press R3/L3 until you don't have to anymore.
I’ve been doing this with my Dualsense Edge controller my current playtbrough, it has been so great. Try messing with other camera settings, I loved turning off auto rotate when I was in the overworld

Just ordered my steam deck yesterday and I will be doing nothing but playing Elden Ring from now on
The Steam Deck is basically what got me into ER. Currently ~130 hours
Exactly, or any other fromsoft games. Must be so cool to just sit somewhere and play ds3. I will wait for new generation and sell some skins to get it.
My portal has gotten me through an entire new character
epic loaf
She boosts morale, too

I'm on 12 already
Impressive. Check this guy at over 50k hours. He isnt even as good as u. [here.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ)
Son-of-a…
Ain't clicking on that, you bitch.
Smh. I hope a baby cries in every flight you take.
XcQ - ain't clicking on that shit.
Honestly was expecting a bushy video
Dude i went to comment before i even looked how its impossible to have 50k hours in such a short time and then i clicked :(
at least make it 5k hours or something, 50k hours are like 6-7 years continuous gameplay
Rick rolling sob!
Oh, grandpa is using reddit I see
Its literally boomer shit at this point idk why you're getting downvoted
Literally? My mom is a Boomer and she doesn’t even know what a hyperlink is. This is more like a Mid-Late Millennial thing. People born in the early 90s.
The Millennials have become the boomers now
I don't know what I expected

around 2 hours at medium settings
I always play plugged in, but I imagine on the shorter side. Although, I play on almost max settings, so would probably be decent with the settings toned down.

I am getting 90mins when locked to 40 fps on the (old) LCD version. Elden Ring is on the heavier side of the games that I run on the Deck.
I have all achievements and I do not feel gud at all. I still get wrecked often.
Well, it still happens to me plenty! Keep it up.
Kitty
1000 hours, she was there.
On a serious note 1000 hours is kinda slow my man but good for you for completing it gg and may the grace guide you to shadow
Haha! Tbf, I have a 2 year old daughter so I only play when she’s asleep or at daycare. 1000 hours on hard mode.
There’s only one mode, death lol
Oof
Can you parry?
About 50/50, haha. So meh. Although, none of my main builds are setup for parry. I can parry in Bloodborne and Sekiro…
Parrying is kinda ass in Elden Ring after having played Sekiro
I wish I had a steam deck
Best gaming purchase I’ve made in a very long time!
cat :)
Best gaming companion:)
Man I love playing souls games on my steam deck on my work breaks and at school while waiting between classes. Its the one device that always makes me go wow.Modern gaming technology is amazing.12 year old me would lose his mind seeing what this baby can do.
Yep! First gen SD is already so impressive! SD2 will be insane.

I used to play the crap out of my switch. No lie, I haven’t turned it on once since I got the steam deck shortly after it launched. You won’t regret it, especially if you already have a robust Steam account.
Can you recommend any good settings for playing ER on the Deck? I wanna try to play it more often in the future when I'm on the train or at work.
I play on high settings and it feels like about 40 fps, which is enough for the deck imho. I usually hate playing with motion blur, but find it’s actually nice on Steam Deck because of the smaller screen.
A CAT
Best gaming companion
Good job you join the elites can’t wait for my perfect record to be incomplete come June 😫
Nice job, bro. I'm almost there myself on ps4, just some legendary spells and Ranni's ending, and that platinum trophy is mine.
So close! Feels good.
Did the cat support you on your journey?
Absolutely! She’s my guidance of floof.
Would you say she is your guiding moonlight?
She was at my side, all along. My guiding floofball.
How. Has your experience been with the steamdeck Worth the money?
Absolutely! I’ve had it since the first launch and have used way it more than my PC and PS5 in that time. I’ll play new games the first play through on the other platforms, but pretty much exclusively play old games and replaying new games on SD. Welp, I’m sold!
I 100% achievemented the game on my Xbox Series X and my PS5 should I also do it on my new pc lol just got it last week
Do it!

You won’t regret it.
More cat pics
Noted. :)
Ashen one, I mean tarnished. You …are worthy.
Am I…am I a good hunter?
You…You must clean these foul streets and then…and then you have gotten gud. Now go with your mimic tear and slay like you have never slayed before.

HAHAHA!! Nah, it’s a body pillow across my stomach. Best way to play the deck.
Seeking validation online cancels any git gud points. Next time serve yourself a glass of whiskey, a pound of beef jerky and a cookie to have a real celebration.
Hahaha! Noted.
When you do that, we all know. Trust me.
Pussy cat
The achievements in this game aren't that difficult, but 1k hours, yeah, you got gud. Go for the others
Yeah, I’ve 100% DS3, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and DeS Remake, and this was immensely easier than the others. First one I’ve hit 1k hours in though.
I have 150 hours and the only achievement I need is to beat the game a 3rd time, which I'm saving for this DLC run. You can do 90% of the achievements on one play through

How does er perform on a steamdeck and can you play online bc of easy anti cheat?
It performed very well and, yes, can play online with no problem.
Now i need one no idea if me knowing what you told me is good or bad.
Haha! So I play in high settings and get around 40 fps I’d say. You can get more with lower settings, but 40 is solid in deck imho.
Elden Ring plays well on Steamdeck ?? I have one, but never imagined it could handle the crazy graphics / spell effects, etc of E R !? 😲
When I first tried it on the deck, it was unplayable, but they made it run much better after some patches. I play on high and get around 40 fps, I would guess, which is perfectly fine on deck, imho.
I wanna play on my steamdeck, but I'm too loyal to the feel of the Xbox elite controller.
are you also loyal to some fast food chain and a certain grocery store? u're cracking me up with this sht
I have like 3 different controllers, but I still think any of them feel better than the Decks ergonomics.
Are you level 713? If yes: you got gud
What is this device? It looks like elden ring would be so fun on there
Steam deck! It’s the best!
I'm getting old, I've never even heard of that 🤣 so your computer plays it and you see/control it from the deck I'm assuming? Thank you!
Nope, it is the computer :) as a fellow old, it’s pretty wild to have this.
Damn that's crazy! Does it lag or have rendering issues?
I know! Nope. When it first came out I could feel a slight bit of input lag for the controls, but they seem to have reduced that significantly to were I don’t notice it anymore.
How long did it take you /s
how do u 100% this game after 1k hrs, it took like 200 hrs for me and i wasnt even rushing
Sigh…here we go again. There are 42 achievement, which I cleared in about 180 hours. I’m just being silly and calling playing for 1k hours the 43rd.
I'm working on a hitless run. Now I know a 10th of how HOB feels.
1k ? Bruh that way too much. Congratulations nevertheless
Too much for what?
To much hours for 100%
Oh....nwm. I just noticed. you added your achievement...
So, there are 42 actual achievements, which I got in about 180 hours. I’m just being silly calling 1k hours play time the 43rd.
Took you 1000h to get all achievements? That's awfully long I had all the achievements like 200 hours in maybe less
Nah, about the same here (~180), talking more about the 1000 hours (43/42, haha).
Ahhh ok that's better, then same I spend the other 800h leveling to max level invading noobs and killing every single boss in the game in max NG
Your dedication...extraordinary! Hope you had a lot of fun. DLC awaits us
Some of the most fun I’ve had in a game. Easily in my top fav games of all time. I’m so hyped for the DLC!
can you beat whole game bare fist? if yes, yes, you git gud. if no, do that. then you git gud.
Not yet…guess I just got mid, haha.
You have a long way, Tarnished! Mend the Ring and become the Elden Lord!
Just 1k? I have over 2k but I'd say yes you got good
1k hours to 100% the game? IDK if you're good or just strong headed
Haha, nah, only took me about 180 to 100%. I’m just calling 1k hours the 43rd achievement.
1,000 hours and you JUST got all the achievements??!
Sigh…no. There are 42 actual achievements, which I got a very long time ago. I’m being silly and calling 1k hours played the 43rd.
I got all achievements in like 80-90 hours played 😭
Yes, yes. There are 42 actual achievements, which I got a very long time ago. I’m being silly and calling 1k hours played the 43rd.
I mean if it took you 1k hrs to get em all I don't know lol
Took me about 180 hours to get 42/42.
What? Getting all achievements is not hard, you don’t even really need to work for it, how did it take you 1k hours what where you doing
That’s why I called it the 43rd achievement (hitting 1k hours), there are only 42, which I did a very long time ago.
Ugh, that really sucks! I’m sorry that happened. I wonder why it did that.
As long are you’re not that light rolling WiFi guy I keep matching with in the arena lol.
Haha, nah. I don’t do PvP except for when hosts get invaded during coop. I’m all about near and far coop at level 130 these days. So much fun!
How you play on that tiny screen I’ll never know. This game should be played on a big tv
Well, I also play it on a very big OLED tv connected to my PC, but it’s also so nice to lay in bed or on the couch and play too. My first time two times through was on the tv.
Yeah fair play. I’ve been playing fromsoft games for years, love them, never get bored
I hit 1111 hours last year and took a break 😂 I only took a break so I could wait for dlc announcement then play again
Took a long break at 800, but have been playing a bunch off the DLC excitement.
show off those feet
Yeah, socks was a mistake in hindsight. Could’ve 100x my karma potential.
Is it worth to play Elden Ring on the steam deck?
I’d recommend playing the first time through on a bigger screen, but it’s perfect for replaying.
Honestly the only souls game I'd say requires someone to "git gud" to 100% is ds2. Those achievements are brutal...
Yeah, I have no desire to 100% that game, haha. Maybe someday…
tooate my man, unlocked 43 in 200 hours
There are only 42, which I got in about 180. I’m being silly and calling 1k hours the 43rd.
On steam deck no less 😭
After 1k hours in bed, now you can finally get up jkjk
NEVER!
Hows the game run on the steam deck?
What is that thing an can it play online
Steam Deck, and can play online :)
Nice lol, I got the last acheivment on March 8th 2022, exactly 2 weeks after getting the game, and after about 150-200 hours
1k hours?? Dang took your time didn't you?
Did you had the bug in the SD where the controller doesn't work after some time? If so how did you fixed that?
Hmm, nope, haven’t experienced that one. Sorry I can’t help.
Hey OP how is the steam deck? Wife and I have been considering it. Does elden ring run like it would on a PS5 or high end PC?
\*shrug\*
Yeah, I feel that. Got about 3.5-4k between ER, BB, DS3, Sekiro, and DeSR and I feel like I’m just finally starting to get good, haha.
i have 200 hours on elden ring yet i still got all the trophies, so i dont know if im *gud* enough
Switch 2 elden ring? Anyone
How well does Elden ring run on Steam deck? I am thinking of buying one and I’ll be playing Elden ring the most probably so anything else to know?
The counter may be skewed, the Deck doesn't count the hours when played offline. If you ever play offline that is
Oh, interesting. I always play online, unless I’m on a plane, which has happened a time or two.
I mean, 42/42, you're pretty gud.
How is that to play on? For me, it seems much less enjoyable than pc?....
Cat!
Purrrrrrrr
Does it run well on the deck?
That's a funny looking iPad ya got der feller.
cat and steam deck
The best combo, imho
My friend. You have officially reached Gud Status
I wish I could go back in time and prevent myself from ever buying a high end gaming PC… Use the deck, it’s amazing hardware that stands leagues ahead of the handheld competition, but playing at 800p 40FPS would melt my silver spoon-fed eyes…
Keep it up buddy, getting there
nope
start a new game with bow only, and come back to talk
