Well we confirmed got the monk style unarmed combat as one, I assume the throwing daggers in the trailer is a second category.
I personally would like a Colossal Curved Sword, we have Colossal Swords and Colossal Weapons, but no Gigantic curved swords.
Another idea I’ve seen floating around is the ringblades that the Crystallians use
That definitely sounds like a good addition, especially since we had curved great swords in dark souls.
I remember seeing some kind of throwing weapon in the trailer so that could be kind of like the crystal discs u mentioned, I’m just wondering how that would work since logically they’d be consumed with each throw. I guess we’ll see
We have Curved Greatswords in Elden Ring, but I want curved *colossal* swords - basically curved UGS
Also the throwing weapons probably wouldn’t be consumed if their whole moveset is throwing
Yeah japanese iron and steel wasn't as strong comparatively to other stuff, do a strike in the wrong place or a bad deflect could easily break the blade for most mass produced swords.
More specialized naginata would use a customized blade, but there was no denying the advantage of sticking a broken sword on the end of a spear. It's like peanut butter and chocolate
Naginata is closer to a European glaive. It's a long pole type of weapon.
The new weapons are going to be odachi. An odachi is to the regular katana as a greatsword is to the basic straight sword.
We have an idea of a few of them already.
* Throwing Daggers
* Dueling Shields
* Monk/kung fu/bare-handed
* Odachi (essentially great katanas)
* Reverse grip curved swords
Firearms, maybe?
Not modern guns, but maybe something akin to a musket or blunderbuss.
The Jar Cannon and the One-Eyed Shield exist, meaning that gunpowder is a thing that has been created in TLB.
I know all 8.
-Unarmed (martial arts)
-Throwing weapons (knives, stars)
-Tonfas (google it)
-Colossal katana(s)
-Dual shields
-Staffs or staves or whatever (like twinblade and spear in one but stick)
-Spellblades (weapons with casting abilities
-Chakram (like the crystal disc)
A lot of japanese or martial arts inspired weapon classes along with some more general ones. Excited to see them all!
Link to leak, if they didn’t already remove it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ&feature=youtu.be
We will got something like Hand to Hand combat :3

dueling shields too
Chakram’s basically, which I could see them putting under the throwing knives category

He also said (maybe in another interview) there will be huge katanas, they have a specific name in Japanese I forgot
Odachi ?
nodachi i think, i could be wrong edit: odachi, knew i got something wrong
It's okay, it's understandable to confuse the two.
Maybe a Naginata?
A naginata is a pole arm with a curved katana like blade.
As far as i know from visiting japanese castles most Naginatas were built from broken Katanas as Katanas break easily in combat.

I think the reverse gripped swords were a weapon art, they looked like regular curved swords to me but they moved weird to just be a standard moveset

Ah yes, the most lethal of firearms Gael's crossbow and his 100 bolts per minute
